If you want to go have fun at a hole in the wall sushi restaurant and eat great food, go here! I give it five stars because you don't go to a restaurant in a strip mall in suburban sacramento to dress up or to impress the stiffs from corporate. What you get here is delicious, fresh, fun cuts of sushi and laid back ambiance (t-shirt and flip-flops). The chefs behind the counter keep the smiles on and the good food coming while Chris and Bonnie on the floor are a blast--usually at the expense of the newbie server! Truly a neighborhood (Carmichael) gem and they do what restaurants in their category should: serve tasty selections and they treat regulars right! Sneak in on a Monday or Tuesday night or Saturday afternoon before 2.

The two younger guys that used to work full time in the bar here are hilarious. Very welcoming, and the sushi is not very traditional, but it is still very delicious!

Definatley a small, hole in the wall location, but the atmosphere is worth the drive.

If you mention it's your birthday to the two owners, they usually end up drinking a bottle of sake with you. :)

A must try restaurant!

This place is more about attitude than anything else.  The sushi  is good but not special.  The owners though are worth the visit--yelling, shouting, and berating each other like some Hong Kong tinged Laurel and Hardy routine.  Considering the price (moderate), it's well worth it for dinner and a show.

I noticed Silver Sake when I was shopping at Eve's Market a couple months ago but I finally tried it a few weeks ago.  Their slogan is "light and healthy sushi" but the majority of their rolls contain tempura (shrimp, veggie or soft shell crab).  Speaking of rolls, there is a looong list of rolls (fairly priced) and hard to choose from!   We finally asked the chef/owner (a former Mikuni chef) for some suggestions sans tempura and everything he prepared was really good.  My one complaint was the spicy scallop hand roll.  Would you guess that it contained a large piece of tempura wedged into the hand roll?  Next time I go back I'll have to make sure I enunciate when I say NO TEMPURA.

I saw an add in the SNR or the ticket or something like that.  I thought I would try a new place.  I was heading out to that area anyway.  The sign says Light and healthy sushi.  That sounds like it would be good quality fish with little adornment.  That's what I was hoping for.   I was disappointed.
So I walk in and this place is small.  A little sushi bar and some tables.  I always start off with some Tako sashimi when I go to a new place.   I feel I can judge the quality by ordering this one thing.   The octopus is cooked, but should be left pretty rare in the center.   I find the best sushi bars take the care to cook the tako this way.  The bad places have it cooked all the way through and it is chewy and rubbery.   So I sit down at the bar and order this.  The chef tells me they don't serve it.   What???!!!  no Tako!!  Maybe some Aji, no dice.  He says the only sashimi they have is Tuna, Yellow tail or salmon.    I look at the menu to see if there is anything else I might like.   Every roll has tempura shrimp in it.  I settle on a small roll.   It has the fried shrimp in the middle and is covered in 3 different sauces.    That is not what I call "light and healthy sushi"  I ate half the roll and asked for my bill.   It wasn't good at all.   I walked into this place really excited about trying a new place, but left really disappointed.  Maybe I built it up to be something it wasn't.   The menu didn't get me excited.   This place just didn't do it for me.  I walked across the parking lot to Eve's market and bought some food to make dinner at home.

This little sushi restaurant is hidden away in a strip mall with a new grocery store and Long's Drug store.  I would never have know about this place if it wasn't suggested by my Mom who offered to take me and my daughter out for lunch.
The restaurant is super tiny, luckily we were the only customers (could be because they were repaving most of the parking lot that day and there wasn't really any parking at all).  Apparently they do a lot of dinner and take out business, but for lunch they were dead.
We started out by getting an order of mixed tempura and asked for extra onions (my daughter only likes the onion rings) and a order of edamame.  The edamame came out pipping hot with a generous sprinkling of salt, we had to let it cool down a little bit before being able to eat.  The tempura was soon brought out and it was very tasty and just the right amount for an appetizer.
We ordered some nigiri hamachi, maguro, and hotatagai.  We also placed an order for some specialty rolls, the Best Roll,  the Five-Star Roll and an Avocado-Cucumber Roll (for the toddler).  Our nigiri was very good, the fish was super fresh and very tasty almost melted in my mouth.  The rolls came out and both were awesome.  The Best roll, I can't remember what exactly was in it, but it was delicious with a subtle hint of lemon, the Five-Star Roll was great too.  My daughter devoured the Avocado-Cucumber Roll so I assume it too was good.
Our lunch came just over $50 and we had a coupon for $10 off $50 or more.  I will probably return here again, and try some of the other rolls they offered.
