First shopped here in High School for things like skull earrings and the like, but now buying more grown up jewelry. Good selection and friendly staff.

I'm a fan of unique jewelry and different colored gems. This shop has an impressive collection of silver crafted jewelry. Garnets, Citrine, Peridot,  even roman glass dominate the shelves with their alluring brilliance. There's a small section of  more affordable jewelry which features mostly small silver studs in an array of styles. The staff has more of a 'hands off' approach to customer service which I personally like as I don't like being pestered. The jewelry is pricey but only so much to the point  that if you found something you truly wanted that you would be willing to pay for it. It's  a perfect place to poke in and marvel at the wearable art.

Silver Parrot has -- wait for it -- an entire inventory of silver jewelry.  I'm not a yellow gold girl, so this is fine by me.  If you are a yellow gold girl, keep movin'.  This isn't the place for you.

We used to come here back in high school because of the "affordably priced" jewelry displays.  Which were basically things only high schoolers would find cool anyway, like little frog earrings or charms shaped like flip flops.  All that's still alive and well in Silver Parrot.

But now I can focus a bit more on the adult jewlery, which is more expensive but a whole lot classier.  It ranges the gamut here from elaborate to simple.  I tend to gravitate towards the simpler pieces, like a solitary pearl set in a plain silver band ring or Roman glass pendants.  But if you like showy, they've got your filigreed rings and large stoned, multi-stranded chokers right here.  You'll probably need to browse a while to find something that fits right in with your style, but that's half the fun anyway.

It's a fun little shop, long and narrow, almost hidden-like on King Street.  A rabbit warren of baubles.  They could be a bit more attentive in terms of service, but sometimes it's nice just to be left alone.

I'd been looking for a ring to give my friend who is leaving for the Peace Corps in a month.  I wanted a gift that was small and easy to carry, but also would be a special memory since I may not see her for almost three years.  After trudging throughout DC and NoVa, I finally landed at Silver Parrot on a whim.  Thank goodness!  I was very impressed with their selection and the variety of stones they had.  They probably had over 200 rings with various stones of all sizes and colors.  They also looked a little bit more special than the rings you can buy for under $10 at various outdoor markets and festivals.

I found a beautiful turquoise ring for a reasonable price.  The sales staff were not the most helpful, but the selection made up for it.  I will definitely be back if I am again looking for a special gift for a friend.

This is my favorite jewelry store in Alexandria. Gorgeous, unique items, and historically they have a very helpful and friendly staff.  The last time I was there, however, one of the sales ladies who I've never seen before (a squat African American woman) was extremely rude, giving short responses to our questions about the merchandise and basically acted annoyed the entire time as if we, the customers, weren't worth her time. Maybe she was having a bad day, It was such an unpleasant experience that I will think twice about shopping there again. I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 4 until the staff improves.

When I lived in Alexandria, this was a favorite shop of mine that I would stop into on our frequent strolls through Old Town.  Nearly 3 years later, I am now a Chicago resident and have yet to find any silver jewelry shops that have the selection and quality on display at the Parrot.  Over Thanksgiving, I wore a favorite pair of earrings from SP and stupidly lost one.  After trolling the internet for anything even remotely similar, I toyed with the idea of having an artist on Etsy re-make these for me.  It seems the Etsy craftspeople couldn't get close, even though I supplied a photo of the earring I still had.  OK, I took it to a local jeweler who did silver work, and he couldn't get smoky quartz stones.
Finally, I called the Silver Parrot, and spoke to a man named Pat, who was very helpful.  They still had my old VA information in their computer, so he had a description of what I had bought.  I sent him the photo I had, and he was nice enough to photograph some similar items that weren't normally on their website.  I chose a new pair of earrings from the 5 he had photographed, talked to him on the phone to do the transaction, and less than a week later, the new earrings are in my hands!
This is customer service that goes above and beyond, and I will not soon forget it.  If I am ever in Alexandria again, I intend to go shopping at the Silver Parrot!  Thanks to all at this great little shop.

My wife really liked this shop. They had a huge collection. Not really my thing though.

My mother has bought me probably half a dozen pieces from Silver Parrot over the years and I had been pleased with all the pieces.  Up until around last year when she bought me a $300 bracelet one month for my birthday and then another $300 piece for Christmas.  One of the pieces was stolen while I was staying at a hotel in Philadelphia and soon after that, the other bracelet fell off my wrist in Florida.  When I called the Silver Parrot to see if they could cut me a deal on one of the pieces (the one that had fallen off-due to a toggle that was too large)   that I wanted to replace they would not even hear about it.  I was so disappointed in their customer service over my request.  Something, anything could have been offered to me, but "0" on the price of a new bracelet to replace the one that had fallen off.  It was such a turn off, I asked my mother to never get me anything from there again.

This is one of my favorite jewelry stores to visit when I'm back in Old Town (used to live here but in CA now). I've gotten some really unique items--including necklaces, rings, and earrings, bracelets. It's not necessarily cheap but I think most things are hand-crafted or made by artists. I get a lot of compliments on stuff I buy here so I always stop in when I'm back on the East coast.

I love this small silver jewelry shop in the heart of OT. Their selection of silver is amazing and the prices are extremely reasonable. I have a pretty large collection of silver jewelry and a good percentage was purchased here. They also carry a large inventory of varying stones/jems in their jewelry (I'm especially fond of the druzy stones and Roman glass). If you visit their website, you can read up on all sorts of information about the differing stones also. Beyond just being a shop to purchase quality silver, I would also recommend them as a place to have your rings sized and jewelry repaired. They have always charged me very fair prices.

After a friend received a birthday gift certificate to the place, I accompanied her to pick something out. I am very judgemental about jewelry, so my opinion of it when I first walked in is boring. The style was definitely not mine with large stones in silver, a bit older and a lot of it seems like, not so trendy or classy. She couldn't decide on anything, she didn't really like anything so we left and I think she re-gifted it (and I don't condone re-gifting.) I defintiely recommend looking in after all jewelry is so subjective.
