The Silver Fox is a small steakhouse near George Bush Turnpike & Jupiter road, but they have three locations around the metro area.  The inside is much more impressive than the outside, it looks rather unassuming from the outside.  The lighting and decor was typical of an upscale steakhouse.

I went as part of a large group for dinner so we were seated in the banquet room and given a few waiters for our party.  I'm not sure what is standard fare for smaller parties, but we were given horseradish pickles and bread to start, both of which were great.  We were then given seafood appetizers which were also great.  Two shrimp, one with cocktail sauce and the other with a romulade sauce, a crab cake and a scallop wrapped in bacon.

For the second course I chose the lobster bisque, which technically was not a bisque, rather more of a chowder.  It was tasty, but extremly salty which ruined it.

Next came the main course, for which I chose a NY Strip steak.  Here's where I was really disappointed, it lacked any flavor whatsoever.  I wouldn't expect a $35 steak to require steak sauce, but this one was in dire need.  Each meal was served with whipped potatoes, creamed corn, asparagus, and a slice of tomato.  The whipped potatoes were good, but it was a very small portion.  I'm not a fan of creamed corn or asparagus, so I moved on to the tomato.  It's hard to get a nice tomato this time of year, so I wouldn't put it on the plate if I were the chef.  It wasn't ripe and was flavorless.

I figured dessert had to be good... even Cheddars can do dessert.  I tried the specialty, the chocolate souffle, which they claimed was the chef's mother's recipe.  It wasn't very good.  The flavor wasn't consistent throughout the souffle, some areas were tart while others were sweet.  I only ate a few bites before I surrendered.

I will say that others that I dined with seemed to enjoy it more than I did.  Others in my party said that the fillet was good, as was the creme brulee.  And the service was excellent... otherwise I'd give it 1 star.
