Are you hungry? Are you NOT a Chinese food snob? Do you want to get two or three meals while paying for just one?
Then go here. The service is quick and friendly. To go orders are ready very quick. The cooks in the back (who are really cooking, you can see them when the door swings open) are fast and consistent. I am sure this is nowhere near authentic food, but it's the good ole standard Chinese food that fills your stomach and then some.
The egg rolls are HUGE and the broccoli beef is amazing. -

This is literally the worst restaurant I have been to in my life. I have worked in restaurants and being a poor student, eaten in hurries and in dives. I am not a "Chinese food snob." I (used to) eat Chinese food about once a month in Seattle and throughout Washington. Since moving to Vancouver I haven't found any decent Chinese place.
Walking in, you find almost everything to be mauve. The carpets are stained, the tables are greasy, and many were left dirty throughout our stay of 30 minutes. The carpet, (yes, carpet,) has food mashed into it, and sweaty Asian (Chinese?) men will be seen wandering around looking exhausted. A very large, sweaty, and unprofessionally dressed woman led us to our table. I got fried rice and egg rolls. The "egg rolls" were about 7 inches long at 3 inches across, and mostly unidentifiable batter. They tasted like nothing but oil. The "fried rice" was brownish rice with pork gristle in it. There were no vegetables, no eggs, just weird brownish rice with some type of gristly meat in it. The aforementioned large woman forgot my drink, and looked horrified when no one in my family wanted a box to take the "food" home.
A big plus? A hooker in the parking lot! I had to live close to this restaurant for awhile, and the hooker tends to hang out there, it wasn't an isolated incident.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Bad service, ugly, dirty restaurant, poorly cooked and terrible tasting food. It didn't taste any better coming back up, lemme tell you. -

Silver Dragon is located on 4th Plain in Vancouver. Their Chinese food is really American-style fabulous - large portions, diverse entrees and the taste is supreme.
The restaurant itself is kind of divey - what you think "cheap Chinese" restaurants should be. It is clean, just not "new". I dislike that the smoke and beer smells from the lounge wafts into the dining area.
Their take-out is plentiful and always served with a smile. They do special requests with no trouble. Over the years, we've tried quite a few different entrees and have been pleased with them all. They have later hours (until 11 pm) and are willing to let you pick up take-out later than that.
I gave them 4 stars because while this is really good American Chinese food, the restaurant just isn't spectacular, the neighborhood itself is kind of lackluster and it just isn't 5 stars. I still highly recommend them for great Chinese.Listed in: Restaurants

Ok, I now live in San Francisco there are so many options for good food surrounding me, I don't even have time to crave something. But I do miss the BBQ pork from Silver Dragon! It's the best I've ever had, and with the resteraunts around the Bay area, that's saying a lot!
Hey mom, might be visiting again soon! :-)

I know I've already written a review about this place that rave's, but I recently went home for a visit and had to stop in for some (yep you got it) BBQ Pork, still the best I've had. My daughter tried it for the first time and didn't think twice before scooping a big heap of the spicy mustard up with it, hilarious reaction!!
I was also able to try a bunch of different dishes, the General Tsao's chicken is amazing it was my fav. their Chow mein isn't the normal dish you think of, was disapointed in that one. Their drink specials at the bar though were great, hella cheap. it is a great family syle resteraunt/bar.
I already miss the BBQ pork, til my next visit! -

Horrible chinese food. You definately get quantity over quality.

If you are in the mood for good old American style "chop-suey and eggrolls" Chinese, then this is the place for you. Are there better places in the area? Absolutely. I'd go so far as to say any of the Asian places on Fourth Plain are better but sometimes you just want a big pile of fried shrimp with enough mustard to sear your sinuses.
The BBQ pork is outstanding, probably the best I've had.
The lounge has a vibe that's seedy without being scary and the well drinks are cheap and strong. -

This place is good, but better exists. I don't dislike it, in fact I patronize this establishment once every few months.
If you want some cheap filling american chinese food, this place is good. I was here the other night and for 2 people the total was around 15 dollars. We drank hot tea and water - no spendy stuff there. We each got 2 meals out of our portions so per serving it's pretty cheap. It's just not spectacular. -

$5 lunch with HUGE portions, but really lacks in flavor and service.Stir fries are ok, but the fried stuff is pretty nasty. Kind of felt like I was at a roadside diner in the middle of nowhere on some long road trip. Highly strange place, but just a notch up from being too gross to eat. Plus is you get free tea.
