Review from kimmy c.
My girlfriend lives in the area and she took us here for a quick breakfast before getting our "girls' day" on. It is such a fabulous little joint that I fell in love fast. It's old school with the dinning counter, sweet waitresses that bring you coffee and knick knacks on the wall. it's not one of those "we're trying to look like we're old school"... this place in genuinely old school and fabulous.
We were there on the holiday Monday, so it wasn't too busy. GF shared that it can get pretty packed on weekend mornings.
I had the special breakfast sandwich. It was greasy and delicious. Real sausage patty which the bits of unhealthy goodness squished in, crispy bacon, good greasy egg, and a muffin with hashbrowns. Orange juice was delicious and everything was soo cheap! Service was wonderful too. My GFs opted for eggs with pancakes and it took every ounce of control not to swipe some pancake from them. I would say their menu slightly mimics "Original Pancake House".. but where I feel OPH's food is meh and they try too hard and their service is crap... Silver Dollar Pancake House was a wonderful find.
I had to add this to my list of must tries.. and I can imagine myself driving up from San Diego or down from LA just to eat here. It's not that food would satiate a gourmand/ epicurean.. it's just simple food that transports you to the little diners from back in the day. It's not good for you, and it's not complicated foods.. but it really just hit the spot and something about it really touched me. I would say "humble" is the best word to describe it all.
I wouldn't say this is a must drive hours to come see sort of place.. but if you're within range of the Corona area, it's definitely a place to stop and get breakfast.
Would definitely return and would absolutely recommend.

I've been going here since I was a kid and now my husband and I take our kids. We love the banana pancakes and biscuits and gravy. I know real healthy right?!
They have a wide array of pancakes. Something for everyone. There's even a chili stack with pancakes!
They also have tastey cinnamon rolls that can be shared.
I really love this place. I think the sentimental memories add to the flavors!
Get there before 9 am or you'll be waiting a while on the weekends. -

mmmm :)
reading some of the reviews before going, my friend and I decided to share two things...
- dont just get their pancakes. its too much by itself--i recommend getting a plate of hash brown with it and sharing.
- the silver dollar plate is just perfect! 2 pancakes (of ANY kind, bananna ftw), 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages-- definitely enough for one person and maybe for even two!
- if you're craving something else, don't worry...theres EVERYTHING- french toast, mini pancakes, omlettes...
- go on a weekday. i was scared that its winter break, lots of families going to be there, but with 4 groups in front of me, i still was seated in around 5 minutes. i cant imagine what it would be like on a weekend...max capacity is probably less than 40 people...
all in all was great, food definitely worth the money! -

Best pancakes, best value. The portions are ginormous so spitting a plate is totally doable here and you will leave satisfied.

I gotta little change in my pocket, going jingle lingle ling
I'm driving my mom and her friends to the outlets, so the registers can go cha-ching
To Morongo or Lake Elsinore, for their once a month fling
They're retired and they're bored, so shoppin' is their fav'rite thing
And we always stop for breakfast at Corona's Silver Dollar
If you're lookin' for a good breakfast, just go and give them a holler
They got pancakes and french toast and the usual fare
But when you get yourself seated, give the specials a good stare
On weekdays they've got full breakfasts at $2 and some change
Pancakes and eggs and meat all nice the fixins they arrange
The best breakfast on weekdays is at Corona's Silver Dollar
If you're lookin' for good value, just go and give them a holler
Sometimes I splurge and get the meal with blueberry pancakes
Blueberry compote is not that sweet, a good topping it makes
Their salsa on the side is hot and fiery with spice
I put it on the eggs to eat , it tastes very nice
Some of the best breakfast toppings are at Corona's Silver Dollar
If you're lookin' for somethin' different, just go and give them a holler
I'm not just giving you a line, don't put this review on the shelf
Just go to Silver Dollar and you just see for yourselfListed in: OFF the BEATEN PATH

Corona, CA
My kinda breakfast spot! The food was delicious (I had scrambled eggs and French toast) and it was very reasonably priced. Menu had a big variety to chose from, and I'm excited to go back and try the different pancakes. Also, my coffee cup was never lower than half full and the food came out quickly! Definitely going back with the boyfriend this week so he can try it out!

-----and to think I wouldn't find anything worthwhile in Corona.
This...icon of a restaurant has been here for a while, despite 2 fires with two corresponding shutdowns. Like Buffy the Slayer, this restaurant refuses to bite the dust, and with good reason.
The food is just plain good! I've had the several food items from this place, from the corned beef hash, to the chicken fried steak, to the breakfast sandwich (sausage, bacon and/or ham with cheese, eggs omelet style, and on an english muffin or toast), this place hasn't disappointed me yet. Oh, and the breakfast sandwich was the one that wowed me the most; the bacon was just so damn good and crispy!
The staff is friendly, but I wish the wait staff was more accessible from the tables. They seem to be very busy by the counters where the food comes out that it's a little hard to get a hold of them from the tables, especially the outer tables in the dining hall.
----waves to waitress "My water glass needs more... water!"
This does not detract from the review though. They're around, just when things are okay. Like I said, very friendly, all smiles.
Wait times are almost non-existent. One time, I came, and the place was packed for lunch. Wait time: Five minutes. Awesome!
Check out the breakfast specials! They're normally between 2-5 bucks and they're effective till 11.
This is NOT your typical greasy spoon diner. Like Nikki M. said, this may be a typical American diner, but that's meant in a VERY GOOD way!
Though I don't live in Corona, I'm here once a week till December 2011 for school. They're so good, I will plan occasional trips here with friends, just so they can try this good and tasty piece of Corona's Best!
Silver Dollar, I await the day you wow me again so I can give you that 5 stars you deserve!

Review from Nikki M.
This is your stereotypical American diner...but in a GOOD way! Horseshoe counter with lots of men sitting at it? Check! Waitress who seems to know every customer's name? Check! Old fashioned decor? Check! Homey-goodness at it's finest. Expect a long wait here, especially on weekends. My family and I came in here on our way to go wine tasting on a Sunday morning per recommendation of my friend who's from Corona. As always, a lovely recommendation by her.
Once we got passed the fairly long wait, we took the somewhat tricky walk to our table (i saw tricky because man this place was packed tight. Can't imagine how they are wheelchair ready). They have a good number of pancake choices, as they should! Coffees all around at our table, and I ordered the pecan pancakes. The texture of the pancake was great, nice and fluffy! They were super sweet too because of caramel sauce that comes on top...yummy sugary goodness! Love the crunch of the pecans as well.
I don't know how they do it, but I never saw anyone's coffee cup go even half empty here. Good thing for a breakfast place! The first coffee mug did have a lipstick stain on it, and I had to ask for another one. The workers were super nice about it, but it was still kinda gross! But I'm willing to overlook that since it's family run. Top pick in Corona. -

I have tried a few more styles of pancakes, so I thought I'd write a little update. I tried the Chili Cheese; I liked them, but the chili tasted like your average bland canned chili. If it had some really good chili on it, this would be a star dish, because I did really like the Iowa Corn cakes it was served on. The other one that I tried was the Manhattan, crepes filled with sour cream, topped with powdered sugar. There was nothing wrong with them, just not my cup o' tea. Would be great, I think , if ordered with some kind of fruit topping on top, to balance out the sour of the sour cream. My girlfriend is crazy about their corned beef hash, and and ham and eggs. Her niece had the chocolate pancakes, another contender in the "Desert Disguised as Breakfast" category. Delicious.
I think my favorite at the moment is the Banana Pancakes. Amazing. And I defy you to find a better deal than the Silver Dollar Special for $7.99 (2 eggs, 3 sausage, 3 bacon, 2 pancakes any style.)Listed in: Riverside Area Favorites

I went to visit my bff this past weekend and my flight landed at 7AM so I was starving for breakfast. We yelped a place in Corona and found the Silver Dollar Pancake House.
Good thing we came early considering how long the line was when we left the place. Service was great! We were seated quickly, first the water came, then the coffee, and a couple minutes later, we ordered. I had the $7.99 silver dollar special with 4 strips of bacon, 2 eggs, 2 Swedish pancakes, and subsitutes a bowl of peaches instead of susages. My bff ordered the pecan waffles. Food came quickly as well as the coffee refills. I enjoyed this place and would definitely come back when I visit. -

I was looking for a place to meet a friend halfway between our respective houses, and settled on the Silver Dollar -- I'd rather give my breakfast bucks to a quirky local place than a chain, and this place filled the bill.
It's located in an older part of town (the Land that Time Forgot, said my friend), parking was a little tight (I ended up in a neighboring shopping center) and at 9:30 on a Saturday morning, it was mobbed ... familes galore, everybody jammed in cheek by jowl, and we kept getting bumped into by folks on their way to the (one-stall) restroom.
Also, as other folks have mentioned, this place is LOUD ... tables everywhere, lots of kids, not a place to have an intimate conversation (but who does that over breakfast anyways?).
I had one of my usuals -- an omelette with peppers, onions, shrooms and cheese with hash browns and rye toast, and my friend had a French dip with French fries (which I didn't try, but got two thumbs up; the roast beef in the sandwich looked oddly long-pig-like to me, but who's to say).
The omelette was quite good -- decent size, not skimpy on the fillings, and the veggies were cooked through. Hash browns were a little underdone for my taste (but I like them a little crunchy) and the toast was a bit hard and underbuttered. From our vantage point, we could see lots of other folks' meals going by, and the pancakes really looked good ... if pancakes for breakfast didn't put me into a carb coma I would've given them a try.
Where the Silver Dollar really shines, though, is in the service. Between our regular server and the two or three roving guys whose sole function it is to make sure your coffee doesn't run out, we were well taken care of. Other breakfast places (*cough*Broken Yolk*cough*) would be wise to learn from these guys ... don't skimp on the damn coffee first thing in the morning. They were polite, patient as we hemmed and hawed over the menu, and never made us feel rushed, despite the fact that the place was packed and they were probably eager to turn our table over.
All in all, not a bad place for breakfast if you don't mind a little noise and chaos, and it certainly beats throwing any more money at a soulless corporate giant, right? -

If I could, I would "Like" this place!
The staff is super friendly and sweet!
I ordered the special breakfast combo and it turned out to be $3!! SUPPER WIN!! Apparently it's like Happy Hour but for breakfast!
I can also never forget the blueberry jam, it was homemade and so DEEEELICIOUS!
Come here! It's a yelper's dream, cheap good food =] -

It's impossible to narrow down your choices here. The menu is huge, and everyone seems to have their favorites. I was having a seriously hard time deciding what to get. I was starting to lean towards the banana pancakes after reading a bunch of rave reviews when...out of the blue....some of the regulars struck up a conversation with us and recommended the swedish pancakes. Oh no.
Eventually swung towards the swedish pancakes and wow. That was the right choice. I mean, let's admit it. Breakfast is kind of an excuse to eat dessert for a meal - chocolate chips, syrup, massive amounts of sugar, milk - basically stuff your mom would yell at you for eating during any other meal. Stuff that tastes delicious for the first few bites, but leaves you feeling a little sick afterwards, unless you're fortunate enough to have an incredibly tolerable sweet tooth.
These swedish pancakes (similar to crepes) were surprising - not too sweet, with a really great texture. Even the cranberry sauce wasn't too sugary. I alternated bites between the pancakes and some chili corn cakes, and by the time my meal was over, I was still craving more swedish pancakes.
Their mainstays - eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon - were all just average for a diner. But their pancakes that really stood out. This place has their dishes down pat, which definitely seems to account for their success. No strange combinations here - everything works well together. -

Great place to eat.
A family run business that maintains the homey atmosphere.
Everything I tasted on their menu is fresh and tasty.
Their pancakes are great and the portions are huge.
My favorites are the Chocolate pancakes and their Corned-beef Hash. -

Corona, CA
My favorite breakfast in Corona, but it's always packed full of people on the weekends, so we don't get there very often. I love the pancakes, but I crave the Hot Turkey with gravy and potatoes! Yeah, it's not breakfast food, but lots of protein, and it tastes awesome! I asked them to substitute fries for the mashed potatoes this last weekend, and that was no problem for them - and covered in gravy, with the turkey...just good eating. Wife is a huge breakfast person, so this is always a good compromise for us - I get my lunch, she gets her breakfast and everyone is happy. Reasonable prices too. Service is OK, not stellar...but good enough that I want to come back!

Silver Dollar is such a cute establishment!! (: It's located in the heart of Corona and has a really classic diner feel to it.
As the other reviewers suggested, I went with the banana pancakes (with the Silver Dollar special which comes with 2 eggs, bacon, and sausages) and they were delicious. But beware, they're also insanely sweet. And huge. But I just packed them and ate them later! Still good. My friends got the corn pancakes, pecan pancakes, and french crepes, which were all good as well. Prices are good, around $7-8.
I definitely want to try the chili pancakes next time! -

Mira Loma, CA
I don't complain about atmosphere (in general), so if you can't stand 70's never renovated decor this isn't your place. We got here and there was a wait out the door, so I expected great things. I was impressed that they used those square buzzer things to let you know when your turn came up. After being seated I got a large orange juice and a coffee. There were only fake creamers at the table so I asked for some half and half. They didn't have it. I ask for a small container of milk. I get a little cup of milk and I notice, 1, there are some black marks on it and 2 some brown little floating things in it. I take my napkin and wipe off the black stuff and it is grease on the INSIDE of the cup. I return it for a new cup. I felt the service was okay, so, I gave one star for that, one for the food. I ordered a breakfast burrito and a short stack. I really liked the salsa that came with the burrito, and the burrito was good, just not good enough for me to come back and pay for it again. My fiance ordered the corned beef hash. What is it with all these restaurants using the same generic canned hash?
I miss the original pancake house in Riverside that had house corned beef and hash with big potato and onion chunks. Sniff.
In short, not good enough for me to pay and eat there again. -

This place is great.
I came here on a Thursday morning about 9:45am... The wait was 10-15 minutes for 2 people... Luckily we were able to find seats at the counter. It was busier than I expected it to be on a weekday.
Service was good considering it was very busy.
They have great specials that are available Monday - Friday 5? - 11AM. I, however, did not order one of their specials.. I ordered the Pecan Pancakes... Boy were they delicious. 3 pancakes for $7... (Or you can get 5 pancakes for $8+). Pancakes were just the right size, not too small and not too big and not too thick. The pancakes were covered in pecans and caramel sauce/syrup. I couldn't finish it and it was perfect to share. It did get too sweet after awhile.
My cousin ordered strawberry pancakes... They were also good, but I didn't think it was anything spectacular.
They also offer Chili Cheese Pancakes and some other interesting combinations of pancakes or waffles... I'll definitely be back here to try some of their other menu items. -

I live about 15 miles away, but had driven by this place many times thinking..nah. Then I read several reviews on how great it was and decided to try it because I'm a Breakfast Foodie all the way! The inside was much roomier and cleaner than I had expected. The atmosphere was very loud and made it miserable to try to sit and have a conversation.
The food was okay. Nothing to write home about. I had the swedish pancake which was doughy, undercooked and too thick. It was as if they couldn't decide if they wanted it to be a pancake or a crepe? I tried my boyfriend's Chili Pancakes which comes on a cornbread pancake and I felt the same way, eh.. just okay, nothing special.
If I were in the area and wanted breakfast I might eat at this diner again, but I don't think I'd drive over here just for breakfast. -

Lake Forest, CA
Went on Memorial Day for brunch. The place was busy. We ending up waiting twenty minutes or so (we were a party of seven).
I ended getting the Silver Dollar Special which was two pancakes! Two eggs, two sausages and two strips of bacon. That's was a lot of food. And I got the chili pancakes. Sounds crazy right? But they were really good and super filling. I tried some over the other pancakes out party got and my favorite was the banana nut.
Overall this place is a dive, in a good way. Small, no frills restaurant with good food for a good price. The service was ok, but the people were friendly. It just took a while to place our order and get seated.
Would I go back? Yup. But with less -

Caramel. Banana. Pecan. Pancakes.
YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
Order these to go and eat them while catching up on your DVR shows in your pajamas. With a big cold glass of milk or hot cocoa.
The service here is good but sometimes there is a long wait. I'd rather eat here instead of Denny's, Ihop, Carrow's etc anyday. -
Review from LUBY H.
If you aren't a fan of pancakes, you MUST take a trip down to Silver Dollar Pancake House in Corona!! TRUST ME, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT, AND IT WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND.
The atmosphere definitely adds points to the overall dining experience. It takes you back to childhood, as if you are sitting in the kitchen waiting for your aunt Betty's nostalgic hot cakes. YUM.
I ordered the Silver Dollar Special which comes with 2 special pancakes of your choice, eggs, and bacon or sausage($8). Just the perfect portion! The first time I was here, I ordered the infamous banana pancake and felt like I was floating in air! The blend of banana, whipped cream, and caramel drizzled on fluffly light pancakes just blew my mind!
The second time, I gave the French cake a shot, and that was so delicious as well! The french cake was rolled-up with strawberry fillings, and lightly dusted with powdered sugar, just the perfect combination. Not too sweet, but at the same time JUST RIGHT. I seriously never had such too-die-for pancakes in my life, and usually I dont even order pancakes for breakfast, so you can take my word for it.
If you are vegetarian, you can surely substitue the meat with hashbrowns, which was what I did (even though I am not vegetarian). Especially if you are with a friend, it would be perfect for one person to order the meat, and the other to substitute the meat for hashbrowns, and now you get a complete meal of all the carbs and protein you need for breakfast! Not too much, just enough.
I actually met a few sweet grandma and grandpa couples that have been coming here for over 25 years and rarely missed a Sunday brunch at Silver Dollar. Now I know why. -

I recently visited the Silver Dollar with a client of mine. What a gem. Cost is fantastic and the food is great too. They have a walk up counter that had a line waiting and a sit down area on the side. The bldg that the Silver dollar occupies has been around for more than 70 years. Current owner was once a dishwasher there...great history, food and the workers were nice. Stop on by and get your self a stack...

I've had fancier pancakes offering different fillings but since I live in the capital of lousy food (Riverside) I'll give this place 4 stars. The place is packed on the weekends and now I know why, good breakfast and fast service. We started the morning with the following:
Banana pancakes
Veggie Omelet
French Toast
Great hash browns, crispy and crunchy on top, buttery inside. I liked the veggie omelet and the pancakes were filled with fresh banana's. I'll go back again and would recommend this place to friends. -
Review from Ken C.
For breakfast, I can't think of a better place to go to if you're in Corona.
If you come here, you absolutely have to have the Silver Dollar special. It includes two pancakes of your choice, bacon, eggs, and sausage for like $7 or $8. On top of this, I ordered some OJ and a side of Hash Browns. The cool thing is that they serve their hash browns with some fresh salsa.
This place is known for their pancakes - namely their banana pancakes. The banana pancakes are liberally sprinkled with pecans, whipped cream, and caramel sauce. It's absolutely delicious. A full order of these are overkill, but the portion in the Silver Dollar Special was perfect.
I left here happy and content, and about 2 lbs heavier. Great morning. -

I went there for a quick breakfast with my lil guy. I had the famous banana pancakes, and he had the kids special. The food did not disappoint!
The banana pancakes were ah-may-zing! The portions were quite large, and I felt bad having to leave half of my breakfast on the plate uneaten.
It was *that good. But I couldn't eat anymore.
The service was not bad, We were there during peak breakfast hours, so it was very busy.
The total for both our breakfasts was $13 and some change- a great price!
We will definitely be back! -

Had breakfast here a few weeks back. This is your typical all american diner and it seems to have been in this location for many years. I had the banana pecan pancakes, thank goodness I asked for syrup on the side because its served with caramel - didn't expect that! It was SO GOOD! They have lots of different pancake options and traditional breakfasts. If those are as good as what I had, you will be one satisfied customer,

I really wanted to give five stars since I remember really loving this place when i was a kid. But the waitress that served us was horrible. First of all the chef's, are not wearing any chef's hat. You do not know what is falling down from their heads while cooking unless they are bald headed. I just don't want to imagine it. The food is good, but the place has this particular smell, not pleasing to the nose. I will give a 5 star for the food and a 1 star for the chefs and the smell.

simply the best pancakes money can buy
banana pancakes with real banana come with carmel sauce, pecans, and whipped cream on top... an orgasmic experience for any pancake lover
I also HIGHLY recommend the large(especially for the money) cinnamon roll, and the pineapple waffle
Because of the old, tight packed feel that a diner should have, and the exceptional food, I recommend this restaurant above ALL others
From my experience, no food experience consistently beats silver dollar
The only thing that could make this place better is making their own whipped cream and staying open 24h/day
If this place was open at 2:30am, there would be a line around the building... so in a way I am thankful -

Heard about this place from a friend who used to live in the neighborhood.
Dropped by this place on our way to Glen Ivy spa.
Pancakes & Eggs - the standard stuff
Was pretty good, friendly enough service,
probably wouldn't drive all the way out there for the standard fare =P
Oh, the salsa that comes w/ their dishes is good =)
