I thought the Silver Cloud Inn was nice and would stay there again. The value was good.
Customer service: There were no lines both times I went to the front desk. The hotel employees were friendly and quick in checking me in and out.
Lobby: The lobby was on the smaller side, but completely renovated and nice looking.
Room: The room was nice! Everything was new except the bathroom wallpaper. It had a 46-50" flat panel television with approximately 50 channels, including Showtime. The king sized bed was comfortable.
Breakfast: A free continental breakfast was included. They had a good variety: Belgium waffles, hot & cold cereal, bagels, bread, fruit, hard boiled eggs, cheese, orange juice, and coffee.
Everything about this is awesome for a business hotel. It's new or newer, so everything just feels and looks and smells clean. The linens, appliances, tv, remote, free wifi, everything was first rate, especially for the rate. Breakfast was great with lots of healthy choices and to-go containers. Staff was friendly, check-in and check out was a breeze. The location is fantastic, walking distance to Bell Square. I loved it, and the value was there, the rates were super competitive (only a touch more than the very low-budget Days Inn)
Caveat #1: (and I am not going to remove a star for this) but the fire alarm went off at 7AM, while I was getting ready for work. I decided to risk my life and keep drying my hair, but when I finally got downstairs to check things out, apparently burnt toast in the breakfast room caused the alarm, and I got the impression that it wasn't the first time. Very annoying. I haven't been in the strobe light, deafening fire alarm situation since living in the dorms oh so many years ago, and its not a very pleasant way to start your day.
Caveat #2: the parking spaces are super tiny, I think the architects cheated a little, because even the non-compact spaces seemed impossible to squeeze into (and I don't drive a big car).
The Silver Cloud chain offers everything you need for a great hotel stay. Flat panel TV with all the cable channels you need, coffee/tea maker, comfortable bedding, large rooms, a small fitness center with a couple machines and weights, great continental breakfast (that is much better than regular continental one) with everything that Shannon listed below and also pastries and yogurt, fruit and tea/coffee in the lobby, and very attentive staff. For what you receive, the rate is excellent, and could easily charge 30-50% more for the quality you receive. We stayed here while visiting Seattle and liked it so much, we stayed at another Silver Cloud when we drove down to Portland.
