I love this place! I have been a customer for years and I am always willing to drive from Roseville to go to Silva's!
This restaurant does not have reservations unless it is a larger party (I think, 6). If you are waiting for a table, the bar is an excellent place to have some appetizers and drinks while you wait. We usually get Portuguese Beef Skewer and the Calamari. Always wonderful and always wish I had less people at the table, so I could eat more!!
I always have the Filet and do not feel to need to change anytime soon. The filet is always tender, great tasting and always cooked to perfection! My parents have the liver (I try to sit at the other side of the table) and my husband has the filet or rib eye. We always leave full, fat and happy!
As far as being good for kids, I would say yes. We have brought our son to dinner numerous times. Silva's has their own menu for them. Now, if you have a loud kiddo that likes to make noise, then this might not be the best place. They are good at bring his dinner out first while we are having our salads or waiting for our dinner.
I have been to Silva's Sheldon Inn 4 times with my wife and we have always been impressed with the food. Most memorable, I had the roasted duck with a cherry based sauce was crispy, tender and juicy and a large portion at that! My last meal was the lamp chops which were the best lamb dish I have ever had. Definteily something I would go back to the restaurant for and reorder. Having said that, I don't recommend this restaurant to those looking for the trendiest food or ambience. A coworker who has been going there for 20 years tells me it has change much in that time. However, for home cooking refined to a fine dining experience with well seasoned helpful wait staff, try out Silva's Sheldon Inn.

I truly believe this is one of the best restaurants in the Sacramento region. The interior has a classy rustic feel, and you're treated like royalty. We've been coming here for nearly 20 years and have enjoyed consistently good - nay, fabulous - meals and service. Last night, I had a mouthwatering chicken breast stuffed with dried cherries and apricots in a port sauce, served with wild rice and perfectly cooked, fresh green beans. Oh, and the Portuguese bean soup that came before the meal was delicious as well. My son has the skirt steak that was melt-in-your-mouth tender, juicy, and incredibly flavorful. My husband had the roast chicken supper special (salad, half of a roasted chicken with herb roasted potatoes and green beans, followed by Gunther's ice cream), and that was some of the juiciest, flavorful roast chicken I've ever eaten. My son and I split the blackberry cobbler for dessert, and it was like heaven in a bowl. I kid you not... if you come here, you will not regret it. Be prepared to be impressed.
I have lived out near this place for many years. its nice and its profesional and the food is good appropriately priced for the ( nicer end non chain) type joint. its just kind of non hectic which i dig in a restaurant. the deserts i always find to be interesting they have a rum raison pudding thing ya gotta try that. a slice of civilization parked between semi rural quickee marts and such.
Beautiful Sacramento Gem! For a special night Silva's is a great place to go. A great place to go on a romantic night or a special occasion.
This is a wonderful family owned restaurant! A little gem indeed. I always have their strawberry salad. No matter what entree you order you will wind up with something great. The bartenders are friendly and make the finest martini around.
