This is my go-to place to get my snatch waxed. I've cheated many a time, but I always come back to Silk. Maybe it's the memories - I had my first brazilian here when I lived up the street and waddled back home to cry in peace. Maybe it's the price - $35??? seriously?? In comparison to what they charge for mani/pedis getting a brazilian here is like highway robbery! Either way, I will always come back here.
Even though I live in Oakland now, paying $6.20 roundtrip BART fare + $2.00 MUNI fare, or $5.00 bridge toll and parking meter is worth it - it's still cheaper than going ANYHWERE else... and they do a great job.... I'm a natural redhead and getting a brazilian without needing a blood transfusion afterwards is a feat of science, and these ladies are the best (our hair follicles are mighty strong). I leave with no broken hairs, no missed spots, and no tears now that i'm on a regular schedule. Love it.

I've never got my nails done here, so I can't say anything about that.

I kind of feel like a jackass for leaving a 3 star review but I'm not all that thrilled with my mani.  The service is GREAT, don't get me wrong.  The staff is very friendly, the salon is VERY clean, there is a great selection of polishes (including Chanel and Deborah Lippman!)...and you get to sit in these comfy chairs instead of at a table with an uncomfy chair (!!) but my mani just didn't turn out that great.

Helen did my mani, she's VERY nice and did a great job at cleaning up my ugly ass cuticles.  The warm lotion massage was freakin awesome, I wish every salon offered this service!   Idk if it was my choice of polish (I picked Deb Lippman) or what but something happened to my mani.  I sat for 20-30mins after my mani was done to let my polish set properly, I'm ALWAYS VERY CAREFUL with my manis.  At first my nails looked great, then about an hour after leaving the salon I had weird looking little bumps and bubbles on some of my nails!!  I watched as Helen did my mani so I know she did a good job...I'm guessing its just my choice of polish (this was my first time using a DL polish).  I also wasn't too thrilled with the top coat (Essie)..it was applied unevenly and looked dull.  I applied my own top coat again when I got home and now my nails look much better and you don't notice the weird bubbles as much.

If I didn't have the weird bubbles pop up on some of my nails I definitely would be giving Silk 4 stars!  $18 for a mani is a few $ over what I usually pay but it was def worth trying out a new salon while I waited for my tires to be rotated at Wheel Works next door (mani was a great time killer!).

This place has some pretty extraordinary reviews... I thought it was A-Ok.

The atmosphere was  typical, the personnel was not rude nor nice... and my eyebrows are just what expected. I will return, but am not raving just yet.

I drove across the city to come to Silk from all the reviews and when i walked in there was only one other lady getting her nails done. I waited 3 mins for someone to come and greet us and say that they had no opening. The place was EMPTY. The lady say there was going to be a party of 6 coming, but there was more then enought room. Even when other busy salons then can alway fit you in. There was no idicationg on their website thay say you need an appointment no walk ins. That is such bad customer service.

This place is pretty awesome. Not only do they stock Chanel polish, but they have dishes of candy in the area where you dry your fingers and toes. Love it.

They do a good job - like everyone else reports, the nails last a long time. They are also really consistent in their service and everyone does a good job so you don't have to worry that the one good person isn't available. They stock a wide variety of magazines and the area where you dry is ingenious - it's a wall of shelves and you sit on a stool and read magazines while you dry. It's the most comfortable drying setup that I've found in the city. Overall, great find and on my top 3 list for nails in the city.

This place is great! A very welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. The staff is very nice and accommodating and they do a great job. A few months ago I moved to the south bay, but I still make the trip back to SF every time I need a wax or pedicure. I wouldn't recommend any other place - if you can't get an appointment, that's a sign this place is worth it, so call in advance!!

    Silk understands women.

We don't just get our nails done because we want to look our best. We want to feel pampered.  We want to feel sexy and catered to.   I don't know about you but my hands really take a beating. Men will probably read what I just said and think something entirely different but what I was trying to insinuate was that I work pretty damn hard and my hands ache some days.

At the end of a long week there is nothing better than sitting in a dimly lit room , with soft music playing, minimal voices and someone rubbing hot oil on your hands and sore calves. No one asks you why you have no boyfriend or yells something abruptly over her shoulder in Vietnamese when I say that I live alone. The color application lasts up to 3 weeks which is virtually unheard of . You are served refreshments , snacks and there is a comfortable seating area for the man who decides to wait patiently for you (in my dreams).

Of course, I don't have one of those but in the event that you do.....make him pay for it because it's $60 for a mani/pedi .

    No appointments?  Ok, I'll wait.

I've moved to all different areas of the city and I will fight the worst kind of traffic to take an appointment at Silk.

Extremely consistent, impeccably clean, and worth the price.  Great nail polish selection too (Essie, Chanel, OPI, Deborah Lippmann) - less so for gel polish.

If you like your first experience like I did, you'll never be disappointed.

When people say, "You get what you pay for," Silk Nail Salon is the perfect example of that. The treatment and service that you receive here is top-notch. Yes, it is much more expensive than other salons, but, no other salon I have been to (including those with higher prices) offers the same superb services as Silk.

First, the salon smells pleasant, not like your typical chemical-smelling salon. The tools used are always sterilized, and the nail polish selection has the most variety of OPI, NARS, Butter, Essie, Zoya, and other high-end polishes. You are offered refreshments and there is always food (especially on Saturdays). And the massage treatment is divine. No other salon matches their warm lotion and towel treatment. (Also, their bathroom is amazingly clean and peaceful. I know you do not come to a salon to rate their bathroom, but it is a true reflection of how classy and wonderful Silk Nail Salon is.)

Aside from their manicures and pedicures, their waxing is great. Both of Silk's technicians Tina and Ti are great at what they do and very helpful and friendly. They have two private rooms for waxing done in a completely different area from their other services, which is great. Because I'm a poor college student and can't always justify the high prices of their manicures and pedicures, I do venture to other salons for manicures (especially while studying outside the city); however, I am 100% loyal to Silk for their superb waxing. If you want a wax, rest assured that you will come out with as little pain as possible in a relaxing, clean environment.

If you can afford the price, don't waste your time anywhere else--go to Silk.

It's been 12 days since my manicure and I still don't have a single chip!

Went to Silk with a friend for mani/pedi and had an AMAZING experience there. I guess one of my favorite moments was them pouring really warm lotion on my arms and legs and massaging with it. That felt so good! The décor is very nice, they have a bunch of snacks to munch on, offer you drinks, people are attentive and speak English. This place is a bit more expensive than others, but soooo worth it!

Silk successfully brings the mani/pedi to the next level.  How?

--private room upstairs for up to three people.  My friend and I had 4 people working on us all to ourselves.
--they pour this hot honey like lotion all over your hands, arms, legs and feet and rubb forever...OH YEAH
--they serve you soda and have snacks and candy everywhere you look for the taking!
--they add in a lot of extra work and steps making the final results look like they did when i once had the luxury of the experience at the Claremont Spa...devine
-we were HELLA late to our appt and they still took us and stayed up to an hour later for us....that was very nice and appreciated
--the ambiance was ZEN, somewhat classy (some tacky but HEY that was alright)
--the chairs upstairs are not massaging spa chairs but super comfy recliners and they give you pillows to snuggle with...me likey

There was one downside and because its something so important to me, I could not give 5 stars. They were playing........................................... ........

    ...

    .....

    .....................................country music.  WTF.

This was a belated bday gift to me so I dont know about the cost.  My friend disappeared for about 30 mins....I later found out it was BRAZILIAN work.  Uhh, no thanks on that.  hahahahah

Today I called to see if they could squeeze me in for a brow/lip wax.  15 minutes later, I was being greeted at the door!  I was surprised by how quickly they were able to see me.

What was really nice about Silk is they have private rooms next door where they do waxing.  Having been to places like Benefit on Fillmore where you sit on a pedestal in the middle of a room full of people and have to announce you've come to remove your girl-stache; I was very pleased with the privacy.

The woman helping me (I forget her name) was very nice and took the time to show me where I need to grow my brows in to get a more symmetrical look.  No one has ever done that before.  Very much appreciated!

The price was very reasonable, the service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasantly private.  I would definitely come here again for waxing services.

One note:  They accept credit cards; but, they prefer tips in cash.

This review is for brazilian bikini wax (two visits) and meni/pedi ( 3 visits).  I give 5 starts to T who does their waxing.  She is amazing.   The place is clean and trendy.  Why 3 starts?

For the price of their meni/pedi, I expect a better quality cleaning and a better foot massage.  Yes, they take their time with the massage but they have no idea how to do it!   They basically rub your feet in a way that was not even pleasnat to me.   Yes, their nail polish seems to last longer than usual.  However, if your cuticles are all a big mess after two days, who cares about the polish!

Will come back for wax but not for meni/pedi.  Also, tey only take tips in cash.  For those out of luck, they have an ATM machine that charges fees (I wonder if Silk nails gets a cut from the machine ...).

I'm a poor grad student and can't really afford a french pedicure (which I LOVE!) unless someone gives me a gift certificate to a nail salon!  Which someone did! wohooo!

Now, these are the reasons why I love this place.
    -They're very flexible with appointments
-They're walking distance from my condo
-They serve snacks and beverages (free of charge of course) while you wait or get your pedicure
-They allow you to byob (I think) if you're doing a ladies day out

Why wouldn't you come and visit?

After 3 years since writing my original review, Silk still continues to remain at the top of my list. Their quality, consistency and service has been amazing and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

    Highlights:

+I've been able to make same-day wax appointments everytime I've called
+Both wax specialists have been consistently detailed, quick and are always keepin' it clean (new application sticks everytime)
+The Saturday food spreads are always a nice addition, especially since I often stop in before I've had anything to eat. The mini water bottles are nice too.

Silk has gotten me to be one devoted customer!

Silk is terrific.  Not only do I feel totally rejuvenated after having a manicure and pedicure, but I always look forward to the hot lotion that they slather all over my arms and legs  and then the wrap in hot towels.  Most of all, they are as nice and attentive to my teenage girls as they are to the adults who frequent the salon.  This has not been our experience elsewhere.

At the end of the day- LOVE this place.

My first choice place to get a mani/pedi. They are worth the extra $15ish dollars than the corner nail salon. Totally professional. Clean, good job, and they do what you tell them to. I am tired of nail technicians telling me how long/short my nails should be and what shape they think looks best. One thing- you can't always get same day appts for mani/pedi. OH! This place is great for a girl's day out. They let you bring champagne in and they have a little room upstairs that they you and your friends can get your mani/pedi.

Waxing: Tina is ah-maz-ing! I have been going to her for my brazilian waxes for over a year. She does a FAB job, while being quick and thorough. AND! my fave part: I don't experience as many ingrown issues as I have with other waxes. She pulls in the right direction, she does not double dip. Oh- and did I say she is quick? ;) For waxes, I have pretty much gotten a same say appt whenever I call. One thing- the waxing room is just that a room, not some chic-ee bougie place. But I don't mind.

Two things: Parking can be a B*tch. BUT- they are super sweet and will feed the meter for you :) Just plan enough time to find parking. The other- you can only tip in cash (that is why I took off a star- I find this practice incredibly annoying.)

Other than that- they are great! Give them a whirl!

I like this place :) I had a mani pedi with a friend and they gave us paper cups so we could drink champagne! They have a great manager on the floor who supervises appointments and the flow of the store. The hot lotion massage felt incredible. Fantastic attention to detail on my nails. They do take their time, which is great because I was having a girls night out, but don't come here if you're in a hurry or need a quick touch up.

Picking out colors is weird, they're flat on a table instead of on a wall, so its hard to see them and pick one out.

I've been to quite a few nail salons in the city.  Some of them are good.  Most of them are more conveniently located to my work or home.  But, I always end up coming back here, even though it's completely out of my way.  The pedicures are great, but what has really impressed me is the manicures.  After the last manicure I got here, the nail polish lasted for two weeks with no chipping.  That's pretty close to a miracle in my book.

    And, they have candy.

    $20 for a bikini wax?  I'm sold.

You need to go to a separate room for waxing which is a few doors down from the main building/room.  The staff is really friendly and I thought the facilities were pretty clean.  Mani/pedi seems pretty overpriced (but then again, I'm used to NYC prices where you can get it for $15...)

I've only made appointments with them, but I think they take walk-ins.

Summary - best value (quality/price) that I've found in SF for a mani/pedi combo.

I went here as part of a bachelorette party on a Saturday morning, which is always a busy time in these places so I was prepared for pandemonium.  There were a half dozen of us, all of whom were promptly and easily accommodated amidst the other guests.

The we were seated in super plush, warm and comfortable armchairs - not your standard for nail salons, but I really appreciated the cozy touch.  They were also serving complimentary dim sum, cookies, beverages and snacks to the whole salon (not just our party)  Who does that?  That's awesome!

I thought my specialist did an excellent job, the manicure is the longest lasting one I've ever had (1+ weeks) without a single chip.  I would totally go here again.

Walked into this silk because it was close to my house,  I usually get a mini and pedi.  for $50.00,  I paid 30.00 for one on the best I have had so far.   The salon did not smell like most nail salons with their Chemicals.  They had many new color to choose from.  Sometime the nail polish can be old.  They salon was clean and cute and close to home!  YAY!  Love this place and its prices.

This place is just down the street from me so I had to give it a try, and I must say I really like this place.  The polish selection is pretty good, the atmosphere is soothing and chic, and the service is incredible.  I would come back here just for the leg/foot massage alone... seemed to last a bit longer than most places... which is also my favorite part!

At first I was a little sad there were no massage chairs and jetted tubs, but as I cozied down in the arm chair and wiggled my toes in a flower petal filled beautiful bowl I quickly got over it.

Minus one star, bc the thing is I'm used to really cheap NYC mani-pedi prices, or for these prices it's like a while pampering spa with wine type place.  Maybe next time I'll bring my own wine for my girlfriends and I, it seems from other reviewers they wouldn't mind :)

My boyfriend surprised me with a gift certificate here for their honey manicure/pedicure ($78) or a.k.a. their "special." I had read the reviews of Silk beforehand and I they truly lived up to their reputation. We came here on a Saturday which happened to be their anniversary so they were serving cake, sparkling wine, and champagne. My boyfriend immediately headed over to their mini buffet and promptly stuffed himself while waiting for me (they even had dim sum). I got there about 20 minutes early for my appointment but they were able to sit me down in about 5.  Both the women who gave me a mani and pedi paid meticulous details to my nails; the special consists of milk honey scrub that this slathered all over your arms then put into a plastic arm sleeve and finally into hot mittens where it sits for about 15 minutes. She massaged my arm before AND after the scrub. I thought it was over but after wiping the scrub off she put on lotion. After massaging in the milk honey scrub onto my leg and foot (the massage was amazing) she put yet another scrub where she let that sit for about 10 minutes. It felt so good I was getting sleepy. The whole ordeal took about 1.5 hours. I truly felt like a princess and def will be coming back here. The owner was friendly and I was surprised she remembered my name. She truly knows how to run a business. I believe their regular manicures are $18 but believe honey it is worth every penny (I heard their regular manicures take 40 minutes). I'll be back here on my birthday.
P..S. The down side is the parking. It's hard to find residential and the parking in front has a limit of 30 minutes.

Clean and chic nail salon...my sisters came out here to celebrate my oldest sister's b-day. There are snacks for you to munch on and beverages while you are getting a mani and pedi.  We even tagged along my 3 1/2 year old niece for her to get a pedi. She really had fun! We all enjoyed our experience here. The staff are all really nice.

I rarely give 5 stars for anything. You really have to impress me.

Silk has. I've been going here for over 4 years. I first went here with a good friend as a gift for my bday - for the Saturday brunch.

The pedi's and mani's last forever here. At least a good month. Other salons water down their polish and it disappears within days. Not at Silk.

I have to say the clean atmosphere gave Silk a 3 star rating. Have to agree w the reviewers whom noticed this. Most salons I've gotten foot fungus from - gross - and since I have not used a low budget salon - no foot fungus.

The technicians are gentle. The massages of feet, hands that you receive are amazing as well.

I've gotten waxing here as well. They can always fit you in if you forget to make rez like I do many times. Eyebrows, and bikini waxes.  Bikini waxes are never fun, nor extremely comforting. But they do it quickly here.

I've taken my parents, grandma's, friends here. Every single person loves it. In fact my sister in law fell asleep in the chair while receiving her foot massage during her pedi :)

Love this place ! Highly recommend it.

I think the word spa is misused in this case. I went here based on all the reviews, and if people think this is great, I feel bad for them. The actual pedi was good but the ambiance was awful. I felt like a cow being herded. Candy does not make a place special and even if it did, the polished lounge does it much better. If you really want a spa pedicure, go to thi nails.

I was a walk-in on a Saturday.  They squeezed me in!

The snacks were distracting - if not confusing.  For a second I thought I'd walked into a deli!

No snacks on a Tuesday but tons of candy.  Thanks to Helen, I was able to use her bridal shower gift to get my last mani/pedi before my wedding.  Great selection of colors and I saw them removing almost empty bottles from  the trays so you'll probably never regret choosing a gummy, past its prime color.

They did a great  job on my nails but the hand/arm and feet/leg massages were the best parts.  I've never had such great massages as part of a mani/pedi before and I actually felt really relaxed afterwards.  I will be back.

I've gone to Silk for mani/pedis and waxing.  Worst bikini wax ever.  It was careless and an extremely uncomfortable experience.  I've gotten waxes at plenty of other places and it was never this bad.  I was willing to overlook it for a pleasant mani/pedi experience, but the last time I got my nails done they started peeling on the second day.  I took the polish off because it looked so bad.  I've had other good mani/pedis here, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one, but I will not be back.

This is review for the waxing only.

I came here on a recommendation from a couple of girlfriends and have been hooked ever since! $35 dollars for a Brazilian wax. I love. It's very clean, private, and the lady made me feel completely at ease while I was in such compromising positions. I never have problems getting in for an appointment even when I call the same day.

    Great quality. Great price.

So far my quest for a great place for both manicure & pedicure has ended here!  They don't rush & treat all clients like equals. The price is reasonable (more on the pricey) but so worth the money.

I've been here 4-5 times now & always had a good experience.

I've heard from friends that their bikini waxes are really good.  I have not done that yet but I did have my eye brows waxed & was very pleased.

I would definitely recommend this place to my friends!

Came here a couple times.  The last time I was here was a few months ago, the day before my wedding to get pre-wedding pretty/pampered.  They did an excellent job and the chairs are super comfortable.  The rose petal foot soak is heavenly!  I felt very pampered (except for the phone call I received from my fiance while I was getting a foot massage telling me there was an issue with the tuxes).

I can't wait to come back and get pampered again, with no wedding to plan. And my phone turned OFF!
