Prices were fair on beer. And the food was your typical microwaveable snacks. Was a good place to hear some drum and bass. Good amount of space to dance.

Many people I know have had one experience or another with Silk Bar.  Being one of the few bars in Sacramento that have continuously supported electronic dance music, I hold a special place in my heart for it.  Unfortunately, once the moment fades and the nostalgia passes, I'm left with a below-average (in the broad-scope of things) dive bar with decently priced beer and mixed drinks in Uptown Sacramento.

I have been going to Silk for the last 4 years... sometimes attending shows, sometimes stopping in for a drink, sometimes promoting this or that... and other than an ownership change and a little paint and decor, absolutely nothing has changed.

For some, this may be a blessing.  For others, a curse.  But for me, it's just a constant reminder of another business doing just enough to stay afloat.

Silk is like your slutty ex from high school.  You know she's pretty when she gets dolled up, and she's even prettier when you've had a few too many.  You've had good times, bad times, and worse times... but the next morning, you realize why you left her in the first place.  Almost everyone you know has a had a turn, and she doesn't care. She let's literally anybody inside her with no sort of quality control.  And while she may treat you right on a personal level, but she hasn't been as true to others.

Yet, in one way or another, you keep ending up at her doorstep.

This may seem like a negative review, and I guess in many ways it is.  However, if there's one completely positive thing to say about the place, it's this: once you're known by name at Silk, they will take care of you in the best way possible.  Good dive-bars are known for being personable, and in this aspect, Silk exceeds.

Even if that means that your beer is served in a 'chilled' plastic Chuck E. Cheese cup.

Silk, I love you and hate you at the same time, and it drives me insane.

    I'll see you next weekend.

Located just off the grid, it isn't too far to ride your bike or the light rail, it runs right in front of it so you can have some drinks and not drive. Silk is a weird dive bar for sure, BUT this place is hosting awesome punk shows.
I saw MDC a few months back and the Subhumans just  the other night, it was incredible. It is a great small venue that is taking the chance to let the Pyrate Punx take over and give us some great music. They will even do an all ages matinee in the afternoon, so the youngsters get a chance to see some live music, which is pretty rare in the downtown area.
Thank you Silk, I hope it lasts.

Great little bar and music venue that was part of the Light Rail Pub Crawl #3 - The Uptown Line (April 28, 2007).  The cinder block walls are painted black which gives this essentially windowless bar a cool, Batcave kind of feel.  There is a separate room from the bar room that presumably features DJs and/or music acts since there were folks setting up turntables in there for the Saturday night show.

The bar is fully loaded with any booze imaginable.  Our group was getting a bit too soused from marching in the hot day, sequential bar-hopping, and not enough to eat, so the bartender graciously started to put out free peanuts.  Fortunately, the cavalry arrived outside with leftover pizza from the Uptown Cafe down the street.  Those in need ganked a slice and scarfed on the street.  The Light Rail station is just across the street, which made for an easy getaway from Del Paso Heights once our train approached.

So long Silk... We had a great time in this swanky little hideout!  WHOO-WHOO! (Bromo-seltzer, bromo-seltzer...)

Went here last night to check out a show. The acoustics are total dogshit, though the space is nice for your typical Sacto bar-band experience.

Worst part though was the drinks. $4 beers served in tiny plastic cups. If I wanted this kind of shit, I'd move to San Francisco.

ok i like dives, and this lil beauty is definitely a dive, but poor location and lack of patrons make it NO BUENO...I try not to venture off the grid, but on this particular night I went because a buddy of mine who is into that kind of music where there isnt any singing just a lot of bass and ointz ointz ointz going on!  Some people call it house, trance, acid jazz...whatever it is I like it like i like going to the dentist for a root canal without the numbing shit, and definitely not at the volume level they had it had, which was one turn past Deafening...The funny thing was including the bartender and my self we were the only two drinking alcoholic beverages...Boring...
