Review from Jeri C.

I love Sierra Vista Wine!
My favorites were the viognier, Old-Clone Zinfandel, and the Viognier Doux.
Cute little picnic area to relax by. Courteous staff. Excellent wine.

Come to Sierra Vista Winery if you are looking for good local red wines. Wine owner John MacCready is known for his award winning vintages and table wines. He makes good wine with good integrity.
This being said, there are few vintages that rise above the others.
The winery's signature wine is the Fleur de Montagne. This is a Rhone blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. It's a luxurious wine that is a crowd pleaser, and while it was yummy, there were others that you need to taste too -- if only for comparison.
I really liked their reserve Syrah. It was one of those wines that is great on it's own at a cocktail party, or could be served with a meal.
I also liked the winery's Merlot and Cabernet. Check them out and let me know if you agree. -

This Winery doesn't hold up to its name. We were expecting a nice "Vista" View and were disappointed. The owner was very talkative and nice, the tasting was free but unfortunately, their wine was not very good!

Blech! We were four stops into our wine-tasting marathon and this nearly stopped us dead in our tracks.
Sierra Vista has a teensy tasting room with an adjacent private room that was hopping when we arrived. The tasting room itself contained only ourselves and an older couple.
This was the first winery we visited that had an optional flight for a small fee ($5) - but why pay when you can drink for free? That's always been my motto. I guess even such a perfect idea can go wrong.
Every wine was worse than the one before it. The Fume Blanc was actually drinkable, or at least unoffensive, but the Syrah and Mourvedre were quite disagreeable, and the Zinfandel was absolutely undrinkable. (I nearly spat my only sip out - it tasted like someone had sweated into my glass.) All of us quietly and quickly poured it out and three of us left the tasting room to sit outside.
Julie and Leah were intrepid, though; Julie decided to pay for the flight of five wines and Leah was there to slurp down any leftovers. They came out about 15 minutes later and had purchased several bottles, to our surprise. They said the flight actually had some good wines, so apparently, only the people who shell out a few bucks get to taste anything decent at Sierra Vista. (I'm actually still debating whether Julie might have been a little drunk at this point and perhaps her tastebuds lied to her.)
If you're in El Dorado County, don't bother with this one, folks.Listed in: The Road to El Dorado

Great little tasting room. The woman who served us was very friendly and pleasant and we enjoyed our time here. Their dessert wine was amazing and the winery was just very cute. This was my first time wine tasting and this is the first place we visited and it started off the afternoon quite well.

I also have to disagree with Ericka. Not sure what happened to you, but Sierra Vista is one of my favorite wines. The owners are great folks, and the wines rival the best I've had. I especially like the Syrah and the Red Zinfandel - no sweat taste that I could tell! I'm glad that Georgia allows shipping from out of state - at last. Just for my Sierra Vista fix. So Ericka - I'd advise giving these wines another go.

Very nice winery, check their sales, they have some good wines at a great price.
The grounds are so pretty, tables for picnics, people are so friendly, make sure you stop at this one. -

I had to write a review after reading the totally misleading comments of Ericka L. Sierra Vista is an absolutely gorgeous location with views that will blow you away, a beautiful tasting room and good, solid wines. It is a family owned and operated winery with a great atmosphere and people who make you feel comfortable and at home. This group may have tasted a bottle that was corked, which is inevitable at any winery, but Sierra Vista as a rule, makes good, solid, well-made wines. They may not be your style, but I have tasted a number of their wines on a few different occasions and none of them were ever flawed. A bad review like Erika's is totally out of line and unfair.
