I went here to visit with an old friend I hadn't seen in about 12 years. As soon as we walked in there, I knew it would not disappoint me. It was basically a grown up version of my early teenage years and it was awesome because of that. Remember your one buddy who's parents had that totally kick ass game room in the basement? Yeah, this place has that too, complete with an electronic bean bag tournament game. If you're really old school, you can head out to the beer garden (a.k.a. - the backyard with two picnic tables) and play the actual bean bag game out there. But if you're all about embracing the advancements of technology, you'd stay indoors playing the electronic version as we did.
The bartenders are extremely hospitable, making you laugh more and more as the night wears on, and the drinks are about as cheap as they come - but not cheap on the amount of alcohol. There's a jukebox in one corner, a few muted tvs on the walls and copious amounts of music memorabilia posters. I hear Tuesdays has $2 you call its... quite an amazing price, but sadly quite a drive.
In the end, this place exceeded all expectations and made me long for it to be placed up in the actual city instead of only within the outer city limits. Sid's is the place to make new friends and meet up with old ones and that vibe just echos through and through.... something rare and special in this day of age. -

Sid's is the only cool bar in Blue Island. It's not a lame Irish themed sports bar like everything else on Western. They have DJs play usually punk rock, classic rock, oldies, ska, reggae, rockabilly, soul... Oh, and most important: beer is cheap!!! They don't have any really awesome beers so that's my one big complaint. Well, that and also the fact that it's in Blue Island. They have bands play some times too. Plus all my southside peoples hang out here. It definately stands out as the only cool place in the area.
