Neighborhood: University DistrictThis is a beautiful little boutique shop. I have enjoyed their many raw foods treats, Tofurkey and other holiday goods, vegan clothing, hand made accessories, and wholistic beauty products.
The staff is also amazingly friendly and knowlegable!
I enjoy this store alot, and am happy to spend the money on a small business that is out for a good cause!
Yes it's true...your dog can be a vegetarian too and be healthy and happy. It ain't no big thing. V-Dog is here. Church!
I love this little shop. You can get get lots of treats, snacks, pet foods, clothes, bags, accessories and this and that....AND NOBODY GETS HURT!
That's a win/win situation my brethren.

How could you possibly give Sidecar - Seattle's ONLY all vegan store, that donates all of it's profit to Pig's Peace Sanctuary - anything other than 5 stars?
I love this place. I try to get everything I can from here. I only wish they were able to carry bulk staple items. We need to convince them to open a second location in Georgetown. Sidecar South anyone???

FUCK YES!!
I could go on and on about the selection of vegan goodies and the fact that this is a non-profit that helps out the piggies. That would be a waste of time. Go here and check it out for yourself.
Gardenburger, soy ice cream, kombucha, candy, baking items, some raw food snacks, sandwiches from Hillside Quickie and Wayward Cafe which are in the neighborhood, beer, wine...damn it, I'm doing what I said I wouldn't do. You could have been there already. This place kicks ass and it's run by volunteers who care. Support local!

3 Stars for selection
7 Stars for being Awesome!
That makes 5 stars! :)
The owner of the building won't allow Sidecar to have produce or bulk food items because of a concern about rats/insects, which unfortunately limits the varieties of food Sidecar can sell. Since I usually try to avoid snacks and sweets (which Sidecar has plenty of very yummy ones!), this leaves me only buying Rice Milk, Zevia Cola, and stuff like Pasta and hygiene products (tooth paste, lip balm, lotions, etc). I admit that I still get about 4 or 5 Spirulina Balls every visit too. I can't help it - I'm addicted to them!
Since I get most of my food products from other places like McPherson's Fruit Stand and Madison Market, I feel a tad guilty that I couldn't give my business to Sidecar instead. So what do I do?? I just leave a few dollars in the donation jar each time I go to make up for it!
Even if you're not buying anything, just drop by, say hello, and leave a $5 in the jar with the pig on it. You'll be glad you did!

I'm vegan, but even if I wasn't, I would still love this place. It just feels good to be here, and whoever is behind the counter always seems genuinely pleased with how unbelievably excited I am every time I walk in.
I always want to touch everything -- it's really cool to know that everything I pick up off the shelf, I can buy without having to scour the ingredient list or worry where (or rather, who) the "natural" flavorings came from. There's so much I haven't had the opportunity to try, but with every visit, I pick up a few more perishables in hopes I can devour them before I leave. I'm in Seattle often enough that I can buy most of my vegan daily multivitamins and supplements here, and they're way more reasonably priced than they are back home. I'm also a die-hard Recycline Preserve toothbrush devotee, and Sidecar always has my beloved Medium (the hippie stores in Milwaukee seem to only carry Soft and Ultrasoft *shudder*). Plus: Queen Bee! If I didn't already have everything I could possibly need, I'd buy my Queen Bee accessories here.
The faux taquitos are freakishly good -- definitely eat them with your favorite salsa 'cause they're a bit dry. And oh, man, the Ricemallow Creme? If you haven't tried it, take the plunge already.
+1,000,000 for having a plate of Mighty-Os on the counter so I can have a delicious snack during my animal-free shopping spree.
I really can't say enough good things about Sidecar. It's awesome a place like this can exist.

This is the only store in Seattle where I know that I can buy anything and not worry about checking the ingredient list for things I cannot eat due to allergies. They have a great selection of snacks, frozen goodies, vegan pet food, books , etc. - this is kind of like a general surplus store for vegans! If you're looking for vegan nacho cheese dip, they have it! The most recent Chinook Book also has a coupon for a discount for Sidecar.

Well, of course I give Sidecar for Pigs Peace all 5 stars - I manage the store!
Thanks to everyone who has written positive reviews. I take customer feedback seriously. Since accepting the job as manager, I've lowered prices and brought in new and exciting products, but I want Yelp readers to know that I am continually striving to improve this sweet little store (on a non-profit's budget!). My goal is to make Sidecar for Pigs Peace your *first* stop for shopping. Would it help to have more cookbooks? More junk food? :-D Next time you stop in, let me know how I can help make that happen for you.

As other have said this the first place I look for clothing as they stock vegan shoes and belts and whatnot. Unfortunately I usually need a size bigger than what they have and resort to online shopping.
Even in Seattle some veg items are hard to find, and Sidecar seems to have the best selection.
It's definitely for a good cause too. If you haven't visited the Pigs Peace sanctuary I highly recommend you do. They normally have visiting hours on Sundays but as it's cold I'd check their website or call ahead. It's a great place, a lot of fun, obviously cute experience.

Neat vegan grocery/deli/boutique/convenience store. I haven't eaten meat in 11 years, so I'm familiar with most of the normal psuedo-meat products. This place carries a wide variety of stuff that I've never seen in any other local grocery. There are even bizarre things like fake meat in a can, spam-style. They also carry clothes, dog/cat food, books/cookbooks, non-soy tasty frozen treats, mighty o donuts and other good stuff.
For those who don't want to stop eating meat but are still down with vegan/vegetarian folk in a philosophical sense, they also carry beer and wine.

I try to do all of my shopping here before oi go anywere else... why? Because 1) its all vegan 2) 100% of the profits go to pigs peace sanctuary 3) because its a small business that is part of what I consider my "community" and it is my duty to keep it going.
Very good selection of mock meats and cheeses that you can't usually find at pcc or whole foods, and if you want a product peggy will go out of her way to get it for you. Also lots of natural bath products and vegan vitamins. You can also find cookbooks, shoes, canned goods, baking products, pet foods and the best vegan ice cream selection.
One of the coolest things is that the staff are all volunteers and are dontating their time to keep this shop open.
So go in, spend lots of money, help the pigs, and come out with a lighter concience.

i am so not a vegan.
i'm not even vegetarian.
i have no sense of karma.
but i love this place. when i worked nearby they did a lot of business with us and slowly i came to realize that this was where i needed to go for the fake meat goodness, the marshmallows of total goodness, and Susanne's Ricemallow Creme, which is great for that friend who is allergic to everything but rice.
also the powers that be here have a zero preach factor and it's right next to pizza pi. bonus!

They claim to be Seattle's only vegetarian grocery and boutique. I haven't seen any other place but then again I haven't really looked. They just opened, I think this year and I like this place. I like having a vegetarian, eco friendly shop. They are located at the SE corner of 55th and the Ave in the U-District, pretty much across the street from Blue Dog Cafe and University Theatre. You might miss it at first because the shop is very small. We had a hard time finding it and drove by the shop, missing it several times.
I tried this tofu thing from their fridge that, to me, tasted like goat cheese with herbs! It was really good. Great on crackers too. They also sell this thing called Veganaise that I highly recommend to replace mayonaise. I love the stuff and it's soooo much healthier for you. I'm sure you can get these items at a giant grocery store but this place is way cooler.
I really like Sidecar and I invite you to check it out.
