Today I was super busy at work and realized that I forgot to eat lunch.  I'm sure you're surprised as I am that I didn't eat.  Just how will I be able to keep my rotund figure if this continues?   Given my hunger pangs, I needed some mass quantities of delicious food fast, and luckily I immediately decided to swing by an old  favorite that I haven't been to in years-- Siamese Plate On the Go.

I ended-up being split between two items-- the Massoman Curry, and the Teriyaki Beef.  Luckily they now have a two entree plate, so I got a bit of both with rice.  The curry was about the same as I remember it-- not too thick or thin with a smooth but hearty flavor, with plenty of delicious chicken, peanuts and onions-- they don't skimp on ingredients.  The curry itself goes really well with the rice.  However, it was much milder than I remember-- it seemed very Americanized as it didn't really have any sort of bite to it.

The Teriyaki beef was also as I remembered it-- insanely sweet (too much I'd say, and I'm one of those people who like insanely sweet tea) and a bit tough, but certainly chewable.  The vegetables which came with it were grilled and had a nice, slightly smoky hint of "I've been cooked on a grill where other things have been cooked" that I didn't remember them having.  I tend to like my veggies a bit on the raw side, so in that vein, they were just a bit too soggy for me, but nothing to really complain about.

One item that I didn't see which I used to get all the time were corn fritters.  I love those things, but I'm sure it's not something that most people eat (nor did I have any idea that they were made anywhere outside the Midwest and South).

Knowing little about what Siamese cuisine consists of, I have no idea how "authentic" it is.  It's definitely pretty decent for the price ($9 for a plate with two entrees, rice, and a drink), though I wouldn't take a date there as it's essentially fast casual food.  It's not the best food in the world by any means, but sometimes you just have that craving for the place if you've been there before.  I'll definitely go back, but it's hard to say when that will be.

I think it's name pretty much sums up what it's about-- if you're looking for something different to eat without spending a lot of money or waitng a long time for it to be prepared, Siamese Plate on the Go is your place.    Don't eat there too much unless you want a figure like mine, however.

I was really craving Asian food but it was getting late and I really wanted something on the way home. I drive by this place everyday but avoided it this whole time because it looked so ghetto and it reminded me of bad Chinese + everything-Asian take-out food. What a surprise! I wasn't as bad as I expected. Usually it's a bad sign when Asians don't stick to their own food. This place serves Thai and Japanese food but really, it's more Thai. I was too scared to try the Japanese food and since the people behind the counter looked Thai, I stuck to what they're probably better at. Thai food.

I got their 2 entree combo that comes with either white rice or brown rice--your choice. For the entrees, I got pumpkin curry with beef and ginger curry with tofu. For dessert, I got their fried bananas that were really mashed bananas wrapped in eggroll skin and fried. I personally prefer the straight-up battered and fried bananas but these weren't horribly bad either. Everything was pretty good. I think I'm definitely coming back here. It's convenient in that you can order from the deli counter for take-out or order and sit down. Aside from the already visible hot foods at the counter, they also have a menu that has more stuff on it. They're open until 10pm every day. They sell some other stuff too like frozen curry in their freezer and a random selection of Japanese cookies and bags of panko. Interesting... It's like they picked out a few things that are hard to get in Boulder and put it on a shelf or something.

If you're curious about the price, the 2 entree dish was $7.25 and the fried bananas (4) was $3.25. The fried bananas were definitely not worth $3.25. I'm so used to getting 3 of them for $1 in LA. I felt a little ripped off. Overall though, I like this place. There are 2 locations apparently. One by 28th & Valmont and the other by Folsom & Arapahoe. I went to the 28th St. one. I'm still scared to try their Japanese food but maybe I'll try it one of these days so I can write about it. Thai, Sushi & Japanese food. That's what they say they serve. I'd stick to the Thai if you'd ask me.

A nice treat for lunch every once in awhile but too expensive and too much of a calorie fest to enjoy very often, especially since my favorite is the 3 Taste Chicken (sweet, hot and fried).
