Excellent food, the drunken noodles are the best I have had. They make a lychee daiquiri that is very tasty although not very strong. Tom kha soup was ok, it smelled very strongly of fish sauce which I don't like - the smell, that is; I love the taste, it just reminds me of sweaty sock odor. They have a nice bar area too with a big TV. The service was wonderful and very attentive. The decor is interesting, they have some giant fish in those tanks. I noticed an odd smell when we were in the bar, but not in the dining room. The prices are great\, considering the huge portions you get.
If you go with a group I'd recommend dining family style. The only thing I did not like was that their spice level seems to be low - I ordered a 3 star and it was maybe 1 star, hardly spicy at all.
this used to be our go-to place for thai food especially during college...the pad thai + pad see ew was always good...but i somehow think their quality has gone downward
i went there recently on my mini vacay to seattle and it just does not taste the same anymore...the pad see ew was "ew"...it was a lil' too wet and just not like how it used to be back in college
i dunno...did the chef/cook change? i know the owner is the same though *shrug*
meh!!!
i can't believe how many four and five star reviews it's getting in here!! wow!! it's not bad - ok, it's not gawd awful bad... but it's just not good enough! sad to say, i can make better thai food and i only went to a one week thai cooking class at the oriental in bangkok!!
my friends took me here last week and ordered a bunch of food. i was underwhelmed with everything except i really liked the penang curry with chicken and impressed at how spicy a level we got when we ordered only 2 out of a possible four stars. i imagine four stars to be flaming red lips sweating down my cleavage hot... the way my husband loves it; the level of spiciness, not sweat down my cleavage lol! ok maybe that too :D
so sunday comes around and we decide to have dinner here after i boasted about the penang curry. we ordered a few basic thai dishes - the same few we always order when trying a new thai restaurant. we order these because they're simple and easy to make and at a good thai restaurant, you can't go wrong with them. we ordered: tom yum goong, beef salad, pad thai (with dungeness crab), beef salad and green curry with chicken.
tom yum goong was way too sour! but it's not lime sour... it's vinegar sour! it wasn't fragrant at all despite the fact that the whole bowl of soup had one sorry ass kaffir lime leaf and no sign of lemongrass... nice big shrimps though :)
beef salad - ok, i don't understand why they don't make a real beef salad when we're in seattle and i know, for a fact, we can get all the thai ingredients here! sigh... and i can overlook it if they just make an awesome dressing. again, taste just isn't spot on. and i'm sorry, when i order a beef salad at a thai restaurant, i don't expect to be feeding from a plateful of iceberg lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes! where are the mints, lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves?!
dungeness crab pad thai - flavor isn't spot on. the mix of sweet, salty and sour just doesn't pop! and if you're going to up-sell me on your 'specialty menu', you better give me proper yummy dungeness crab - not the tasteless crap i got in this plate of noodles.
green curry with chicken - first of all, why can't local restaurants just use thai egg plants when it's so easily available all year round?! green beans and chinese egg plants just don't belong in here. but besides that, this curry wasn't even tasty. it wasn't rich enough, lack fish sauce, coconut cream and just all around flavor.
SIGH! ok, i won't penalize a thai restaurant for not putting pea eggplants in their curries 'coz it's a little harder to find... but i just think more effort needs to be put into their dishes instead of substituting everything with chinese eggplants and green/red peppers - for crying out loud, enough of these bloody tasteless peppers already!! they add nothing but color!
one star is for free ample parking. second star, friendly enough people who work here and i would go back for their penang curry - but not on a sunday evening!
Hmmm, this is a toughie. Back in December, some friends were in town and demanded that we get takeout from Siam. I'd never eaten there and in fact I wasn't hungry, but I did take the opportunity to sample everyone's dishes. I can't remember specifically, but I think there was something with prawns (Garlic Shrimp?), a curry, and a noodle dish (maybe Drunken Noodles or Phad See Iew). Anyways, everything was really really good and even a tad spicy which is a plus in my book. Fast forward to a couple months ago. We needed lunch, the BF lives near Siam, and the previous memories made me want to go back. We ordered takeout and went to pick it up. The food was ready right on time and I was impressed with how nice it was inside the restaurant, in contrast to the unassuming exterior. Looks like they could accommodate a large party and may even host events.
Sadly, after all this, the food was a big disappointment. I ordered Phad Thai ($9.25) which is always a risk in this Tomatoey Phad Thai Town. Darn-it, I got some Orange Phad Thia, big ol bummer! It wasn't terrible, but not at all how I like it. The BF got a prawn dish, I think Golden Fried Prawns ($10.50). He didn't think it was bad but I thought it was terrible. Normally you can fry anything and it's good, right? Not this time. The prawns literally tasted like cooking grease. Nothing good about it, I think more than one bite would have made me sick.
That all being said, I feel the disparity in experience can only be resolved by giving Siam another chance. I'll let you know when I do.
For the food i would give 3 stars, but for the atmosphere I give one more star!!
I mean their food is quite unmemorable.
the green curry was super watery, and other stuff.. yeah.
for SUPER FRESH thai, i would rather go somewhere on the Ave.
However, the atmosphere is so cute!
it's a good place to take your date out if you're not in the mood to shed your life savings.
Everything's about a dollar more expensive than other thai restaurants I've been to, but I guess that ain't too bad.
I came here on a snowy night once and it was just SOOO romantic!!!
candles and dimly lit restaurant + christmas lights + SNOW outside
AHHH!!!!
too bad I went with my sister.
I have eaten here twice in the last few months. The first time I called ahead and made a reservation. What a joke. On the night before Thanksgiving, the place was empty. I guess people don't eat the night before Turkey day. Both the food and service was very good.
I went back on a weekend night and still found the food to be good, but the service was very slow. I could have dealt with the slow food much better if the cocktails we ordered were served in a reasonable time. But we got them at the same time we got our spring rolls. Then I almost had to tackle someone to get my check so we could leave.
I would say that the slow service was due to this being a bad night for them, but other reviewers have had similar experiences. If you eat here, plan on a leasurely dinner.
Never expected what was delivered; good Thai food!
I have always seen the sign from the roads when passing near Lake Union but never thought to come here. My thoughts were: probably too expensive, food is probably pan-asian, and parking must be a b*@tch. Only to discover the opposite.
For the first time this weekend I came here for dinner. We had made reservations for 7pm but pushed back to 7:15pm. Upon arrival there was available parking in the parking-lot. The ambiance of the place was cute. I didnt feel like I was at a restaurant off of Lake Union (that's a good thing). Our order consists of the items below:
- Siam Special Fried Rice
- Oyster Beef
- Spinach and Thai Chili
- Ice Cream Sampler
All dishes were delicious. Definately not a pan-asian place and nothing but real authentic Thai cusines. The service was great. The wait staffs were on point with filling watering and attending to our needs right away. When we asked about dishes they gave us their opinon and that was much appreciated.
I definately do see myself coming back when I am in need of a Thai food fix. Wonderful place!
I think my favorite phad thai in Seattle.
Hubby and I went to this Thai place based on Yelp reviews. As we walked into the restaurant we were greeted by a funky smell. The place smelled old...kind of like an old pub smell. Fortunately, the smell did not follow us into the main dining area. The restaurant had nice decor including tanks with exotic fish. We ordered Mussaman beef curry, drunken stir fried noodles (aka Pad Kee Mao), and brown rice. The Mussaman was waaaaaaaay to sweet and watery for my taste. The drunken stir fried noodles were decent, but I've had better. I was also surprised at how expensive the prices were.
I guess I'm still on the quest to find my go-to Thai place in Seattle.
Ok. So if the deep fried spring rolls asked me to marry them. I think I'd say yes. I mean, there would have to be some discussion about sharing but YES. The garlic-y sauce they give you with those spring rolls is delicious beyond belief.
Lately I always get the beef salad. It's not very complicated but oh so tasty and cilantro filled.
A bit expensive but I live a block away so I pay for convenience.
Definitely a unique place. It it located in what looks like an old railroad car that is down the hill from Eastlake and across the street from the east shore of Lake Union. In its price range ($10-$20 per person) this is definitely on the upper end of Thai food in the city. The service is good, and the food comes out fast and is actually spicy. I got 4 stars and it was right about where I would expect 4 of 5 stars to be, not unbearable but definitely hot.
The bar area is pretty interesting. The bartender will fill a big mini-kegish device with Sighna beer if you so desire. The frat-ish looking guys behind us at a table ordered 2 of them. A little pudgy Asian guy in a black suit kept walking by giving us the stink eye...I kept waiting for him to try to decapitate me with his shoe a la Austin Powers but he remained civil. I'll have to try this place a few more times to see if they get that extra star.
I'm curious to know where the rail car came from. The Mountain Goats have a song called Source Decay that has a lyric that goes "I remember the train heading south out of Bangkok" so even John Darnielle appears to have made a Thailand/railroad connection, though I doubt this has anything to do with Siam and only makes me sound like a complete dork.
Oh how much I love love love Thai food, and how bitchy I get when I eat shitty Thai food. :( I know anger management...... woooosaaaaaa
So I've been going to Thai Siam for many years now, and it always is tasty, but sometimes closed when I want to go eat there. that's a no no for me, but I guess it makes sense to not be open the whole day when people don't know if it is still in business or not.... the location is horrible, and looks run down, but I promise guys, it is good...
I would recommend :
- phad thai with shrimp 8 stars
- pud kee mao with shrimp 8 stars
- tom yum with shrimp 5 stars
- pineapple fried rice
- pud prik khing 5 stars
- panang curry 8 stars
- seafood ...?? don't know the name
but I like alot of food, and when I go to eat thai food I usually go with a group of people and just order, order, order :)
When I used to live in wallingford, this was my thai restaurant of choice.... but that's because lotus was so bad I didn't want to try any other thai place in wallingford!!!!! So please check this out if you are driving to lake union to go to joey's and want some actual good food... sorry joey's to knock on you....... but I can.... this isn't a thai restaurant I would bookmark unless I lived in the area...... it is good, but not that good..
Quick!
I need a Thai restaurant within 1 block from my apartment that is made out of train cars and has a defunct British phone booth outside!
Where, oh where can I go?!?!?!
It's a shame they took out that Astro-turf from the steps outside, though. Not enough Astro-turf around my hood.
The phad thai and orange beef are always winners.
Holy mother of god. My girlfriend recommended we stop by here for a "quick bite to eat". I have my favorite Thai restaurants; I wasn't expecting anything outside of the ordinary. I couldn't have been so wrong.
This has not only usurped the throne as my favorite Thai restaurant in Seattle, it is now my favorite restaurant in Seattle. It's easily within my top five restaurants anywhere. Seriously. In fact, it's so good that it's prompted me to return to Yelp and post a review - which I haven't done in well over a year.
The food had a quality that reminded me of K. Paul's in New Orleans (probably my favorite restaurant anywhere). K. Paul does a great job of honoring tradition while adding something extra. Every dish we ordered at Siam was exquisite and memorable - and just when we thought it must be an anomaly, a one-hit-wonder, the next course came and surpassed even our hopes.
Unlike K. Paul's, however, Siam's cost under $25/person - incredible. I've only been here once but strongly recommend going. Given that our three picks were all superb I have no doubt that anything off their menu will please.
I go with my family. They like it.
They pay.
The food is inconsistent bu t being with a nice family makes things good.
You know those restaurants you have that are "go-to" restaurants where you'd be happy to take any guest and you know you'll never be disappointed? Well, Siam's is that for me. Perfect for a date, a small group, or a large group gathering. I've never had to wait, and I've always left satisfied.
I've always known of Siam's because some of my old friend's families run the place, but I never went when I was younger. I wish I had. The food here is not only reliably amazing, but also affordable and offers great portions. Yes, I like to eat so I need big portions. Meals are served family style and our favorites include their Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Panang Curry, Three-Flavor Fish, and Siam Special Fried Rice.
Went there for a birthday party and we had the private room in the back. the food is ALWAYS consistent. for the last decade at least or so i have been going there and it's the same great quality of food. they had a live trio playing last time. One funny part i noticed was the ceiling in the private dining room. it had plastic bags hanging from it. not hideous looking, but i realized that it's because the roof leaks. so in the winter time those little bags might fill up with water from a leaky roof. not too pleasant an idea if those drops land in your food. who knows, maybe they fixed the leaks from dripping into the food by hanging the plastic bags first, then fix the leak, then don't remember to take down the plastic. whatever the case, i just tried to focus on teh food and the company. but parking is ample and portions can be large if you eat family style and order one dish per person. this place is one of my all time favorites. if i want thai for dinner then this is the placei think of first. even with 30+ people, the service was still really good and friendly.
Their friendly customer service plus fresh ingredients make this place a good choice for inexpensive (but delicious) Thai food. I have been here many, many times and will continue to go back. I was born and grew up in Thailand so I know what Thai food should taste like and Siam On Lake Union does not disappoint.
Hidden but once found will be a great source of thai food. Friendly service and modestly affordable prices are what make this place a keeper.
A really good Thai restaurant at a crappy location. If it wasn't for the huge neon sign by the road and for the smaller signs that direct you to the parking lot, you would totally miss it. I came here for my birthday dinner with some friends. The decor is really nice and they also have a karaoke room! I would say that this place gives you more of an upscale restaurant feeling, but it's still Thai food.
I ordered the panang curry with beef and it was very good. The beef may have been a bit chewy but the curry itself was excellent with the right amount of spiciness like I wanted. They give you large portions so you will always have leftovers. I don't like how they charge you separately for rice like most places do since I usually order curry.
Their dessert menu wasn't bad either. I had the mango with sticky rice and it was yummy! Too bad I was already full and couldn't finish it. The mango was sweet and ripe and it was a nice combo with the sticky rice topped with coconut milk. There are a lot of items on the menu that looked REALLY good, but unfortunately my stomach can only handle just one. Although the prices are a little higher, I still recommend this place for some good Thai food in a nice, comfortable environment.
I'm going to start with 4 stars, only because I haven't really delved into Thai before, except once quite a while ago at a different place and I have no idea what I had.
Today my boss wanted Thai so we ordered from here. I was afraid to be too daring, so I didn't get any curry or anything really spicy. I decided to play safe with the Phad See Iew (pan-fried wide rice noodles with egg in soy sauce, brocoli, and chicken- but 2 stars). It was PERFECT. Just spicy enough to give it kick, plenty of flavor, and filled me up quickly. I also shared a Fresh Roll which was a nice balance to the noodle dish.
Not bad, not bad...next time I'll step it up a bit. There WILL be a next time, fosho.
Every time I've been to Siam's I've sat in the bar and the service has always been excellent and entertaining. My first time here the bartender came up to take our orders and let out a huge burp normally this would have disgusted me but the embarrassment and the fact his face turned bright red made up for it and my dining companion just laughed. That night everything we ordered kept getting mixed up but when we finally got our food it was excellent and their lychee martini's and one night in Bangkok hit the spot. The bartender comped the messed up items and bought us a round of drinks, this made us happier.
The other times were never as entertaining as the first but the food has always been wonderful, I love their panang curry one of the best I've had in Seattle.
Surprisingly tasty. I've driven by the sign on my way up to the University so many times. It always seemed like a tourist thai sort of place. Just from the location and the name. But after reading the reviews here, I decided to give it a chance.
The alley to the restaurant is a little spooky. It actually reminded me of the docks in DC where they hold raves. The restaurant itself was lovely. Great fish tanks! Giant tanks filled with beautiful large fish and lots of thai style art. The waiter was quick and attentive.
We ordered the fun make-it-yourself lettuce rolls. Yum. Thanks for that yelpers. And the pad thai was more tomato based than I like it, but was good. And the red shrimp curry was excellent. And of course some thai ice tea to top us off. And everything decently priced.
My only erk was that the lighting sucked. Why the hell to restaurants do that?! I mean I know mood lighting and all but we could barely read the menus. It was somewhat obnoxious. I guess that's why they put a candle on your table, to read by.
First Thai food I ever had...I was 18, I think?
My uncultured Virginia palate was not used to any non-American-Chinese Asian food (except adobo and lechon, of course), and it was definitely not used to the Thai spice. In the years and years since then, I've grown to appreciate both.
Thank you Siam, for opening the door for me.
Yum yum!
Nestled among the industrial complexes, boat yards, and machine shops on the East side of Lake Union is a little house on a gravelly road that serves some of the tastiest Thai food I've found in Seattle.
The the tom ka gai has just the right lime to spice ratio, the standard pad thai is very flavorful, and a standout appetizer is the build your own spring roll platter. I know, what's the point of going out if you have to make your own food? Well, in this case you can decide NOT to put in the little dried shrimp if it grosses you out, and you can put in all crushed peanuts you want. Hooray for choices!
came here w/ my cousin.
Getting seated took forever, no host in sight. had to ask the bartender for help.
getting water took forever.
ordering took .. not as long. Got our food.
"how many star you like?"
"how many is it out of?"
"4"
"7, yes, I'm sure."
Came out a 2. I got the "hot and spicy noodles." They were good, but jesus is it really so hard to get spicy?
Hey Michelle B... didn't i take you to this restaurant???
Anyway, this place has the BEST PHAD THAI in seattle. So if you like phad thai definitely check this place out. The soups are great and if you get their early their bar has a big TV and cheap drinks.
Also just by way of reference... my sister who's a huge foodie ALWAYS goes to this restaurant whenever she's visiting seattle (Cedars is her other must visit).
One of the best (mid-ranged) Thai places in Seattle. Definitely the best of the Siam restaurants. I usually avoid all the Fremont Thai places and make the trek over the Eastlake for this place.
Love the Pad Thai, Swimming Angel, Garlic shrimp and any of the curries. So good.
You would think living in LA, you would be guaranteed to find the best of the best. Who knew I had to travel north for kick ass Thai Cuisine.
Only been here twice, but both times the food was outstanding.
Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, BBQ Chicken, Pad See Ew, appetizers, ALL EFFING Good. Very good thai food thats not drenched in oil, not saturated in salt & msg, not presented in funky jacked up china, and not made by some Joe Schmoe. Food is fresh, clean, and very well seasoned. Your taste buds will savor every bite. And to top it off, an ice cold beer to clean your palate.
Damn good eats if you ask me. Like LA's Chandara, but better tasting, and no pretty waitress'.
Minus one star for being so damn far away from LA.
Is it ever easy to serve 40ish people? Probably not. Siam actually did a very good job making sure the 40 or so people I had dinner with tonight at two massive tables were happy. Sure there were some hiccups with people's food being served sporadically, but our waters were always full, our rice refilled often and everyone got their food (eventually).
I should probably let you know that I haven't come across Thai food I don't like. 80% of the time I order Pad Thai and the other 20% I order Drunken Noodles. For the most part it all tastes good and almost the same to me. My palate is quite discriminating when it comes to Olive Oils, Fromages, types of mint and such, but Thai food is something I know very little about. Anywho, my chicken Pad Thai was delicious. My new friends who sat directly across the table from me also ordered chicken Pad Thai and we asked for "medium" when it came to spiciness, and the three of us all thought it was insanely spicy for "medium". So be warned. Homeboy who invited me to dinner had Beef Drunken Noodles which were good I guess. The beef was pretty fatty and I also found that to be spicy (I sound like such a wuss... I really, really do like spicy food!) but the noodles were perfect and the veggies seemed fresh and were cooked perfectly. Not overdone and had the perfect amount of crispiness left. I also had a bite of the Garlic Prawns which were amazing. They were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. They could have used a little more garlic, but I enjoyed them nonetheless.
So they can serve big groups efficiently and they serve good food so why just 3 stars? Paying the bill was the most godawful experience of my life. It seriously would have been easier for me to just pay for everyone. It was infuriating waiting for the bill to be divided. They initially said they'd give us separate bills which I found shocking considering they rarely do that for a party this big, but they ended up diving the bills into groups of 4. It still took sooooo long for all of us to pay, though. I ended up paying $30 for a $9 Pad Thai. I don't mind chipping in for others' food since I sampled it, but I thought the random and bizarre way the bill was divided wasn't really fare since a lot of the people there were students and probably didn't factor in the random extra charges they had to pay. And it really didn't help that the host was very rude and snappy.
So a 4 star restaurant with solid service and food gets demoted to 3 stars due to a rude host and an idiotic way of having us pay. I'm almost considering dropping to 2 stars since paying the bill was such a nightmare, but I really did enjoy eating here up until the 45 minutes it took for us to pay the bill.
so, before visiting seattle,
my friend told me that as much good food there is in los angeles/california,
one thing that remains better (in her opinion) in seattle
was the thai food.
i've had my fair share of real good thai food in the greater los angeles area.
so i thought, how much better can it get?
siam's proved my friends point.
it was better.
As a fan of Siam Thai I was eager to see what the Lake Union site brings to the table.
Well...a parking lot, won't have to worry about finding a close spot...but what came next was....
Disappointment ....
The Phad Thai prepared here is one of the most inconsistent dishes I've ever ordered. One day I leave the restaurant thinking it's the best Phad Thai in Seattle...but most times..I'm leaving very underwhelmed.
The Curry dishes (Panang+Fried tofu) was prepared perfectly! The 3 star order was borderline 4 and it certainly made me refill on my water. The Phad Thai again though...ugh...very disappointing. I ordered a 3 star Phad Thai and it was one of the spiciest dishes I've ever had, to the point it was distracting from the rest of the dish.
Experienced diners expecting good service will encounter some of the most inconsistent service in Seattle. As mentioned above, one night you may be greeted and served by the nicest and most considerate wait staff on the planet....and one night your waiter forgets your 3 star Yellow Curry and gives you a 1 star Pad See Ew instead. Twice, in a week, my roommate and I had to "re-order" our food because our waiter didn't bring along a pad and pencil to write our order. And two others times I was left with a bill that had dishes I (ordered) but never received.
Surprisingly though...the best part of this restaurant are their mixed drinks and teas. Combining their fruit flavored teas with some very strong alcohol will give you a very pleasant night. ;) Try the "Woodland Park Zoo"..it'll make you feel like an animal after 2 of them.
If you're looking to gamble on a GREAT dining experience come out here to Siam on Lake Union...however, if a guaranteed great night is what you're looking for..try Siam on Broadway..but don't tell the owner @ Lake Union!!!
No matter the service or food...take care of your wait staff, and they'll take care of you ;)
I enjoy their Phad Thai as it's not sweet and full of flavor. They have this amazing veggie dish with peas, asparagus, shitake mushrooms and prawns. MMMMMM, good. Been eating here over the years and they have been consistent. A good thing. Plenty of parking.
Oh, the bar is good place to hang out for a decent cocktail - it's been years so ... not sure how good the drinks are.
When I'm craving Thai food, I go to what I consider to be Seattle's best, and that's Siam. I try to take everyone here; it's moderately priced, with a quiet and clean layout, and their dishes are so good you may end up with decision paralysis. It's hard to have a favorite: from the Phad Thai, to the Phad See Iew, to the Siam Swimming Angel (chicken over a bed of spinach and peanut butter sauce, mmmm!), it's all good - and therefore a safe bet if you don't know much about Thai dishes, because its yumminess will make you look like you actually knew what you were doing when you ordered.
Enjoy some for me because I'm writing this review all the way from San Diego and I can't have any!
Oldie but goodie. :)
One of the first restaurants I had tried in Seattle. & Also, my first Thai food experience! I wasn't too "cultured" with what I ate as a teenager. I pretty much stuck with my mom's home made Korean dishes & hmm...McDonald's & Taco Bell?
Yup. I didn't know what I was missing. My must haves:chicken phad thai & beef phad see ew. Spice it up with 4 stars please! If I can, I'll also get the green or panang curry & garlic ribs. :) Family style is great, isn't it?
One downer. They charge extra for rice. A positive spin- helping us to be carb. conscious? ;)
They had rotee! Out of the dozens of Thai restaurants I have been to, I have never seen rotee on the menu. Rotee is dirt cheap street food in Thailand which gives me warm fuzzies from childhood. Unleavened, greasy, fried, warm doughy goodness served sweet or savory. I've only been to Siam On Lake Union once, and the rotee was on a special menu, so I don't know if it's a common item there. Five stars just for having this hard-to-find treat.
The place was otherwise dead on a Friday night. Maybe at a different time of day the atmosphere would be more lively. Location is a little tough to find, even with the sign off of Eastlake. Parking was easy and free. Always a plus.
I was so giddy from the rotee appetizer that the rest of the meal was a blur. I'll have to try it again with a clearer mind. Next time, rotee for dessert!
Such good thai food... and I love this location. Used to work & live up the street, so frequented here quite often. They are the kings of take-out and have always been accurate with all my orders...which have been pretty big sometimes!
I agree w/ all the other Yelpers.... but sometimes on a Fri/Sat, the large dining room on the left side gets rented by a DJ or something, and it becomes a CLUB. Its kind of funny actually. And since Eastlake has nothing like this EVAR, was truly funny to be dancing to hip hop in there. But - did dance w/ a really cute soccer player : ) Too bad I can't remember his name. Owell, such is life.
Michelle B, did you come here for lunch or dinner? Cos I received the worst service here at lunchtimes on multiple occasions -- and it wasn't always busy either.
The food is good enough quality Thai food, with the standouts for me being the Chicken Cashew Delight and the Phad See Iew (Chicken). I know from friends that they don't make a tomato ketchup phad thai, which is a lazy cop-out by some Thai places, and that that meal is pretty good. The soups that come with the lunch specials are uniformly awful, but heck they're included in the price and the price is relatively good -- about $8-$9 isn't too bad for a lunch in this location.
It's just that it always seems to take a long time here to be seated, for your order to be taken, and for your meal to come. So bring your patience and don't be in a rush. The service can't be described as "friendly" either. Plus I feel sorry for the fish, and the decor is a little dingy too, like the place is caught in a 70s time warp.
Take out is a viable option; that way you get to enjoy the food and not have to endure the service.
Not great, not terrible. The orange beef is breaded in an interesting manner, but the pad see eiw (my Thai food standby) is not that amazing. I might go again, if one of my friends had their heart set on it, but I'm probably not going to suggest it.
Hands down the best Thai I've had since being back in Seattle...I know there are more out there but for now they take the cake. I was staying with my friend for a couple of weeks and her apartment was within walking distance. I had to keep going there over and over, because of the cravings. Now I miss it terribly. I had the red curry everytime, twice there and a couple of times to go. It was amazing every time. They have large portions too, one entree is enough for two dinners for sure. I love, love, love it.
