All these people trying to pass this place off as a 3 star worthy place don't deserve yelp accounts. For shame...
Siam I Am may not cook you the best Thai food in the entire universe. It will, however, serve you incredibly fresh and delicious Thai for the cheapest price you'll find in the universe. My boyfriend and I eat this place way too often because the lunch specials are impossible to beat. Two chicken Pad Thai lunch specials for $10 that don't look/smell/taste like diarrhea? Unheard of before this place came into existence. Order a side of lime juice and throw some of their hot sauces on that bitch and BAM! Perfection.
A great amount of great food for super cheap: This is what makes this place 5 star worthy. Anyone looking for high end Thai should probably be looking at establishments that don't take their name from Dr. Suess books anyway.
Last tip: Try the dumplings. They are the snipers on that menu; stealthly delicious. -

So far, this is the only Thai Food in the South Bay where "Thai Spicy" really is as close to Thai spicy as I've had in the U.S.
When I was putting in my order, and asked them to make my food as spicy as they can, the lady taking my order told me not to ask for a refund if it's too hot to eat...hahaha that's always a good sign.
The Kang Karee (Yellow Curry) w/ Chicken (level 5 - Thai spicy) was decent. If it wasn't for the spiciness though, I probably would only give it 2 stars b/c the chicken didn't taste that good and it was a little more "soupy" than I'm used to.

The Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles) w/ Beef (level 5 - Thai spicy) was very good, I'd give it 4 stars by itself, and I'll probably order it every time I eat here.

Delivery took about 45 minutes, but she told me it would be 30-45, and they guy was pretty friendly. If you order $10 or more, delivery is free....but don't be too stingy to tip the guy.
For now, this is my go-to joint for Thai Delivery in the South Bay. -

I just dont know what to make of this place. All the people raving about the lunch specials. There's nothing special about these lunch specials.
Ok I realize it must be a regional thing. I've lived in Chicago and DFW area. Out there when you get a lunch special, its a good thing. For a buck or two cheaper than regular entree, you get about 3/4 of the amount. They add a soup or salad on top of it.
Move back here to LA. This is the third time I've gotten lunch special at Asian restaurant where the lunch special is in reverse. For two or three dollars cheaper, they add soup or salad. Instead of the 3/4 ratio, its more of a 1/3 ratio. So who is this lunch special for? I think its to make extra money for the restaurant. I feel like its a total rip off.
That out of the way, I'll comment for the food. I'm happy that at least here the food was NOT premade. It really pisses me off when they bring me food in 30 seconds and I can tell its been in a warming tray for an our. No, we heard them cooking, and it came out hot and fresh. it came out so fresh that it could have actually used more time in the pan.
Yes, my food was still raw. I got the shrimp and eggplant. At least the shrimp was done, but all the veggies (eggplant, peppers and onions) were still raw. Not even 'tender crisp'. The taste was good, I did not feel like fighting or asking for them to recook it. I figured I'd take it home and cook it later. The rice was decent.
The other thing we got was the Pad Thai with Chicken. My son liked this. Then again, he was hungry and will eat about anything if there's noodles in it. That is the only reason I did not return it. Why? They added ketchup to it. Although this particular dish was fairly good. I detest the taste of ketchup in my Pad Thai. To me this is just.. I dont know.. do they really do this in Thailand? If I tried to cook with ketchup in Thailand, they'd probably either beat me out of town or beat me into a prison system. Why in the HELL do they need to put ketchup in Pad Thai????
So there I sit with a Pad Thai that I try, but cant really eat cause it has ketchup. I have a eggplant dish in front of me thats partially raw. What the fuck am I supposed to do? I pick at the shrimp and eat those. I then go about to eat the salad. I must say that the salad was pretty tasty. It appeared to be a romaine type of salad (better than that iceberg shit). The dressing was very tasty. I could see maybe getting a side salad from this place.
It would have been nice to have the salad earlier. Like when we were waiting for our food. I assume they wanted to put it on the plate to make it look like you're getting more food. News flash. Even with the salad, I could see the portion was tiny.
My son finished his and we got a container to take my food home. I ordered a Thai Tea to go (standard Tea, which was tasty). I didnt want a Tea so much as I was just still hungry. We ended up stopping at Wildflour pizza to get a slice.
I'm debating to go back or not. I liked the salad dressing, but would never order the 'lunch special' again. I also don't want a KETCHUP PAD THAI. Maybe I'll call before going to see if they can cook without it. That or I'll just try the other Thai places in the area.Comment from Floyd R. of Siam I Am 12/28/2011

I can't believe people give this such a high rating. Being cheap and convenient doesn't mean something is 5 stars. The food is so so bland, you eat it if you don't have a choice. You're seriously ruining yelp by rating bland, convenient thai food with 5 stars.

Kitchen was much better when they first opened. Today the yellow curry was watered down, the calamari appetizer a tasteless glue of previously frozen squid and breading overkill. The pad mee kum tasted ok, but needed sprouts and more vegs. We asked for egg to be added (for which they charged $1 extra) but it must have been a pigeon egg, there was so little of it in evidence. Disappointing.

Love the name! Siam I am! Finally stopped by to try their food. A VERY small restaurant that barely fits 2 tables. So I purchased our dinner to go.
Beef Pad Thai. The noodle was good but the taste was kind of bland. Where is the lime that I can squeeze some flavors in to IT?? :-( The beef was pretty hard, my poor teeth had trouble chewing in into pieces.
The best part was the Coconut ice- cream. Had one togo, and they were nice enough to wrap it in ice. The ice cream was delicious. On top, they sprinkled some toasted coconut which made it a simply but yet delicious treat for me!Comment from Floyd R. of Siam I Am 12/9/2011

Very friendly service of great food at a reasonable price.
My vegetarian Pud Thai was delicious and was served very hot just the way I like. I will definitely go there again. I ordered my food to go and the owner served me water while I was waiting - I did not have to ask for it. a very nice gesture. -

If your looking for quick/great Thai food this is a great spot in the south bay. Would get five stars if the dining room was bigger than a Dr's waiting room. Fresh food serviced the way you like it. I always try something different and have not been disappointed.

I cannot say enough good things about the pricing, the Food and the owner himself. We have been ordering food from here ever since they have opened and have also had them cater a few events and have never had one complaint and in fact a few of the people at the catered events have become customers.
Their delivery is quick and the food is hot, I am a huge fan of the Calamari, trust me, order it, my only wish is that they bring back the coupon for a free Calamari! And in order to insure that it arrives at your door hot and not soggy from the condensation, they wrap it in foil and poke holes in the top of the container so the steam will escape, their attention to detail like that will make for a happy meal! -

to the point, hole in the wall Thai food on PCH. went on a colder day and the server recommended the kau soi noodles (egg noodles in a curry style soup w/chicken - $5.95). perfect for a cold day. Soup was decent..not a lot of layers but hit the spot...felt the egg noodles were a bit overcooked..I like my egg noodles more on the al dente side. Rice noodles may work better for this dish...I'll see if they can substitute next time.
nice to see free delivery within 3 miles (minimum $10).
service was friendly and attentive...loved the small dining room.Comment from Floyd R. of Siam I Am 12/9/2011

Probably 3.5 stars, but I'll round up for this tiny, family run biz.
As noted in many other reviews, this place is miniscule. Two or three two-person tables, can't remember if they even have tables for four.
Thought their curry was a bit watery, not the most flavorful either. I did really like their Pad Thai and Pad See Ew though. Not a lot of broccoli in the Pad See Ew, but I really like the less healthy components of the dish anyway.
Can't beat the prices.
Will definitely frequent this local place for decent, reasonably priced thai food. -

My favorite place to eat!!!
I don't know where to start with compliments. My favorite dishes on menu are Pad Kee Mow and Coconut Ice-Cream. Place is very cozy and atmosphere reminds me of a cozy European cafe with more flavors in the food! :))
For all of you coconut lovers, you have to try their Coconut Ice-Cream imported from Thailand. Since coconuts from Thailand are the best coconuts you can find, ice-cream made of them tastes delightful.
I recommend it to everyone looking for good food! -

If there were 1/2-star ratings, this would technically receive 3 1/2 stars. In short, it's not the most complex Thai food you'll find, but it's good. It's not the place you'll take your friends on a Friday night because it's a hole in the wall spot and not much to look at (and not much room to sit in either), but for me, I'll order take-out lunch every now and then.
For $5.95 I can get a big bowl of spicy/sour chicken soup with noodles, or an order of chicken larp. Again, not the most complex flavors known to man, but definitely not bad. You just can't beat that deal for decent Thai food. -

Really tiny hole-in-the-wall with your basic Thai lunch specials and other typical dishes ideal for lunch. I tried the sweet and sour chicken soup with rice noodle dish-- tasted good but not stellar-- and the basil eggplant with beef lunch special-- not gross, but kinda disappointing.
Nice service and so-so food even considering their target market (easy, cheap lunch)... but considering all the Thai places around the area, I don't see myself returning. -

My new favorite Thai restaurant. Incredibly flavorful, good prices, and outstanding customer service. I highly recommend to anyone in or out of the area. The only downside is the size of the place. It's probably in a 10x10 room with 4 tables quite close together. But, you do have the option to sit on one of the two outside tables.
If you sit outside, it might be quite noisy considering it's on Sepulveda Blvd.

Review from Anna C.
*Siam I Am puts a layer of foil wrapper in their to-go boxes before pouring very hot foods into them. This is a major plus for me. You dont have to worry about eating chemical leaking from the Styrofoam being too hot and melting. In fact, my mother who worked in the hospital and nutrition industry for 15+ years always requested restaurant to do that before pouring hot foods into to-go boxes... its great that Siam does this on their own. Details matter ~ it shows that they care about their customers' health.
Because the restaurant is small, Siam is the perfect place to order take out and deliveries. Order to-go and eat your Thai food by the beach next street over or cozy up in front of your TV at home with your hot pad thai after a long day of work.
What other Thai places offer $5.95 dishes at generous portions cooked with good ingredients? When Siam gives you brown rice in a bowl, its like a mini mountain.
I like coming here to eat after I work out because everything could be cooked with light oil and tofu. I dont think I've ever had curry and feel like "damn that was one healthy meal" but that's how I feel when I visit Siam and order their delightful veggie filled yellow curry + brown rice. My friend also mentioned that she loves that she is not bloated the next day after eating their curry.
I pay attention to their FB page because the owners post monthly specials to reward its customers. People also leave messages requesting their favorite dishes. I think its cool that someone suggested Papaya Salad, and BAM! it became July's special dish.

I read so many good reviews for this place that I was pretty excited to try it. I ordred delivery and I have to say, the person on the phone was super nice and the delivery was really fast and the delivery guy was super nice too. That was good experience. But the food, was just ok.
Pad Thai was dry and the noodles were sticking together a little too much... The crab fried rice was just ok, kind of salty and rice was a little hard.. I don't know, I wasn't too impressed with it..... -

Chicken Pad Thai and a Thai Iced Tea = my heaven.
I would say that Siam is by far my favorite Thai place in the South Bay. They're always very helpful, fast, and affordable.
I hit up this place for lunch from time-to-time also because their lunch menu is mega affordable and keeps me full for pretty much the rest of the day! :-) -

I do not like green eggs and ham. I do like pad thai and crispy banana twists. Jenn I Am.
One has to instantly like Siam I Am for it's creative name take on the Dr. Seuss book. I've been wanting to try this place out for awhile now and got the chance to check it out recently. Yay for cute Thai places :).
I came here for lunch with a friend and we each got a lunch special. My friend got the Combination Seafood for $6.95. It comes with quite an assortment of seafood: shrimp, squid, imitation crab, fish fillet, and mussels that is mixed in with some veggies. I got the Kang Karee (Yellow Curry) with tofu for $4.95. Both lunch specials come with rice and salad. It is a great lunch special deal.
I liked my meal right from the start. The salad with crispy wontons was delicious. I liked the sweet dressing that they used. The curry was very flavorful and not too spicy. It was great. Perfect match of curry with white rice.
Siam I Am offers some pretty tasty desserts like deep fried ice cream and crispy banana twists. My friend and I decided to try out the crispy banana twists for $3.25. The banana twists are actually seven small wonton looking desserts that have a side of chocolate dipping sauce. Underneath the banana twists is more chocolate and some tiny pieces of coconut. This dessert is a nice little treat and definitely should be eaten right away when served :).
One of my number one dishes, that I judge a Thai place by is definitely their pad thai and so I ordered some pad thai with tofu to take home. Regular pad thai (not the lunch special) is $5.95. I also decided to get an order of their veggie egg rolls since I read from previous reviews that this was another must try here. You get for egg rolls for $4.95. The plan was to eat this for dinner but I ended up going out that night for dinner elsewhere with friends and so did not get to try this till the next day. Although still rather tasty, the pad thai would definitely have been better if eaten right away. It seemed more dry the next day. The veggie egg rolls were still good and had a fair share of veggies in them.
I really think Siam I Am has a lot of potential. They are definitely a winner price wise and taste wise everything is pretty good too. This is a tiny place but don't pass it by. They have some good food and their service is pretty good as well. I would not mind coming back here. I am Jenn and I like Siam I Am :).Listed in: Taste of Torrance

I have driven past this restaurant over a thousand times but only recently decided to give them a try. It is a tiny little restaurant with only four tables on the inside and a couple more outside. Parking is kind of hassle since it is street parking but that is a common issue for the small restaurants along PCH. The waitress was very friendly. This place must do a ton of take-out business. So, don't let the size of the restaurant mislead you about the quality of their food.
Their prices are very reasonable given their portion sizes. I ordered the Pad Kee Mow (spicy flat noodles with bell peppers, onion and basil) with pork and a side of rice for an extra $1. For only $5.95 this dish is a great bargain. It was very tasty but not too spicy. I am very much looking forward to exploring their menu in the future. -

This place is fantastic! Good food, good people and a great deal. Only reason why I can;t give it 5 stars is that the eat-in option isn't very appealing IMO.
I usually get the Duck Curry ( I love duck). Its very tasty and they give you enough to snack on later on. My girl likes their pad thai with extra peanuts. One things we always get are Steamed Thai Dumplings!
Lastly, try the calamari. and the short ribs (bbq style-not a thai dish). Simply awesome.
Cheers! -

This is my favorite Thai food place. The actual restaurant is very small if you go in and sit down, but most of their business comes from delivery. My favorite (the only dish I ever get) is the #50...Pad Kee Mow with Beef ($5.95). It's spicy flat noodles with bell pepper, onion, and basil leaves. They got a $10 minimum delivery so make sure you're ordering for 2, or plan on leftovers.

I'm always a sucker for a good pun in a name, so I appreciate the effort here. If you blink driving by you will certainly miss this little spot. If you sneeze, forget it, you'll be a block away already. Completely unassuming in every way, I would venture to guess that most of their business is take out.
Out visiting a friend who had rented a beach house in the area last summer, we had no idea where to eat but Yelp popped this suggestion up and we gave it a go. I must ge getting old, this is one of those moments when I forgot to write down any of what we had, and now almost a year later you are left with only my vague recollections about the meal. I do remember clearly, my wife and I walked out raving about what a wonderful little find it was. I remember we enjoyed all four of the plates we ordered including the Pineapple Fried Rice and the Larb.
The food isn't necessarily spicy, yet it's also not bland as a few commentors wrote. They have the condiments on the table if you really feel the need to singe your tongue, but the plates themselves are nicely flavored.
The nicest thing I can say is that if we lived in the area, I'm sure we would eat here a lot. Good food, good prices, sweet staff. Would I drive across town to have dinner....no but if you're in the area and need a nice bite to eat you can't go wrong here.

Been here twice now and it's a cute little (emphasis on little) place on PCH. We always take it to go since it's a tiny restaurant.
We got #40 Kang Ped (Red Curry) and it was one of the best red curries that we've ever had. It's a medium spicy and the bamboo and peas really complement the spiciness of the curry. The Pad Thai was also good and the chicken pieces consisted of white meat and they were moist and tender. We also got the BBQ Chicken and it was ok. The outside had lots of spice, but the meat itself was bland and it was not marinated at all. You had to add the sweet chili sauce that accompanies the dish to make it ok. With rice, the total came to $22, which fed two of us for 2 days. -

Ok, here's the deal.. yeaaah I get that this joint is small and I really appreciate the Ma&Pa side of this place.. but I wasn't all that impressed by the food. I'm no expert, but I've been to several Thai restaurants and was expecting a little bit more flavor and depth to the dishes we ordered.
On the table was:
Thai Iced Tea - this was done proper! I was definitely impressed that the Thai Tea was topped with a healthy splash of cream - definitely a nice touch and made it seem like this wasn't just mass produced in the back earlier that afternoon and then poured over ice. At $1.75, get 2!
The Ground Chicken Salad - a bit heavy on the heat and lacking lettuce for a "salad".
The Kang Kio Wan (Green Curry) with Pork - was pretty good, tasted like a Thai mama made it... very down to earth cooking.
The Pineapple Fried Rice - could have been better, again lacking in bold flavors you'd expect in Thai cuisine.
And of course, the staple and median by which I judge Thai restaurants, Pad Thai - which again, I found lacking in flavor. I'm quite disappointed now and felt a little ripped off. (I know, and this place is super reasonably priced right?)
On the bright side, the place is very affordable and fed the 4 of us for just under $40. Maybe my palette was wanting a bit more on this day. Maybe the salad turned me off and killed my taste buds. I'm definitely curious where all these high remarks came from and I'm not ready to write this place off yet. I would try this place again with some stronger recommendations and stop by if I was craving a Thai Iced Tea. -

Not the best thai food I've had, but awesome prices and decent taste!
When we drove by, we were both skeptical by the small, hole-in-the-wall feel to the place. My bf and I both love hole-in-the-walls, but I also have an extremely sensitive stomach so I need to be careful with what I eat.
Needless to say, we checked Yelp while parked in the ample street parking available, and we were amazed by the 4 star average after over a hundred reviews!
We ordered PAD THAI with chicken and PINEAPPLE CURRY.
The pad thai definitely was above average and only $5.95!! You seriously can't beat this price in Redondo/Torrance. The noodles tend to clump up after a while so eat it right away.
The pineapple curry was not that great. More watered down than other thai curry that I've had. A generous heap of pineapples and fair amount of shrimp though. The only bad part is that rice is not included so you have to order separately.
Very casual local spot to go to. They were so kind that they did not say a word to us even though we were there past their closing time. I've been to restaurants that literally kick you out the door or most restaurants tell you that they're closing, but they were kind enough to wait until we were completely finished with eating our late dinner.
I would definitely come here again if I was in the area.
Don't let the shabby interior scare you away.
Again, my sensitive stomach tends to react to food right away, but I was completely fine after eating here and that means a lot to me :)
Maybe they should consider remodeling the inside with new tables and chairs for a more cleaner feel.Comment from Floyd R. of Siam I Am 3/9/2011

Siam I Am has become my Thai standby for delivery. There are three other joints in the neighborhood that I have generously sampled. Phuket Thai is the spicy authentic place that's perfect for a casual sit down meal with lots of food. Chaba is the foo foo joint where you take a date and blow a bunch of dollars for fine service and atmosphere. Thai Dishes is the real competition for your goto delivery service.
I'm not sure if Thai Dishes has gone downhill or if I've just become lazy and used to ordering at Siam I Am because they are closer and their delivery is a bit more reliable, but the fact remains that SIA is my current utility Thai joint.
The pad see ew is pretty good and the curry duck is nice and meaty. They are less than perfect with the sauces. That is to say, it's not super flavorful gourmet, but it is definitely above average and for a good price you really can't beat it.
Last night I had their banana desert. Wow. You really have to try that. Other than that, solid competence and no surprises. -
Review from Aaron F.
I came here the other night with my girlfriend searching for new places to eat. This place hit the spot!
It was a friday night and the place was packed. Luckily we got there early to sit and eat since it has very limited seating. Throughout our entire meal, I counted at least 6 people walk in and out, picking up to go orders. Plus, the woman behind the counter was on the phone taking orders all night. Based on the popularity of this restaurant I found a great place to eat. Warning to all, it is extremely small and maybe 4 tables tops inside.
We ended up getting;
Pineapple Fried Rice which consisted of "shrimp, chicken, pineapple, cashew nuts, raisins, and yellow curry powder."
Steamed Thai Dumpling which was steamed wonton skin wrapped around ground chicken." Highly recommended too.
Cashew Nut Chicken "Sauteed in roasted curry paste with water chestnuts, onion, and cashew nuts."
My absolute favorite was the crispy banana twists. I HIGHLY recommend them. It comes with chocolate dipping sauce. SO YUMMY.
Our food was really good and the portions were big enough for two people. We saw what looked like manager/owner of the place running around taking orders, delivering food, etc. He apologized to everyone in the place for the wait and gave us free thai coffee drinks on the house. I didn't think it was warranted on our end, but was appreciative of his customer service skills.
Great food and perfect sized portions. The prices are unbeatable! I am putting this place down for a future visit! -

Me and my wife are loyalists to The Rustic Spoon in Studio City. But a fortunate Housesitting opp gave us some time in Redondo and Thai Food was on our mind. We hesitated with trying this spot b/c of it's size and price. But it's legit. The curries are really good and the Noodle dishes have been difficult to stop eating. I don't think you can beat this place on value. They are also very kind.

Siam I Am is pretty much my favorite Thai place in the South Bay.
They have one of the best roasted duck salads I've ever had, and I always make sure it's part of my meal. For the pan fried noodles, I recommend the Pad See You. Even with tofu, I think it's more flavorful than the Pad Kee Mow or even the Pad Thai. Actually, the Pad Kee Mow is probably the only major disappointment I've had here.
The Tom Yum Soup is pretty decent and I usually order it with the chicken and rice noodles. I wish they put a little more stuff in the soup, but the flavors are all there. Their curries are also pretty solid, though I've only had their Pa Nang (Roasted Red Curry) and Roasted Duck Curry.
I usually get my food delivered, but overall, the restaurant is pretty cozy. It has about 3 tables and a bar setting on the inside and 2 small tables right outside. I've never actually had any issues getting a table, but something to consider.
Also, it's closed on Mondays.. I've been forced to order from other, less satisfying Thai places after I had my heart set on yummy Thai food, only to find out Siam I Am isn't open.. sad times.. -

Ordered delivery for the first time. The chicken satay was dry and chewy. The yellow chicken curry was bland and resembled more of a coconut soup with a slight hint of curry. The dumplings in the wonton soup were doughy and not cooked through. And finally the Chicken Pad See You was also bland with the chicken being overcooked and dry. Epic fail!! We would not order from here again.

Review from Anna H.
Blandest thai food i've ever eaten. Really?! Maybe good for handicapped taste buds, but I've eaten at waay better thai restaurants. this one ranks the worst in my books. The noodles were dry and stuck together with equally dry chicken. The pineapple fried rice tasted like nothing and I got all but 2 or 3 pieces of pineapple in the whole dish. Only reason why i gave it 2 stars is because their mango sticky rice was good.
-----------------------------------Update--------- -------------------------------
The owner truly cares about customer satisfaction. He msged me on yelp and asked what exactly I disliked about their food so they could get some feedback. Apparently I disliked the two most popular dishes (the pineapple fried rice and pad see ew). I don't know if I went on a bad day or I'm just used to very rich and spiced dishes at places like Kah, Three Spice, and Bamboo Garden, but I probably won't come back to try the food again. They seem to be doing perfectly fine without my business so I'll stick to the restaurants I know I enjoy. I added an extra star bc a business owner who goes out of their way to personally message reviewers deserves an extra one. That's something you don't see very often with businesses these days, and I admire that quality from Siam I Am.Comment from Floyd R. of Siam I Am 11/10/2010
