7 reviews for Showcase Cinemas Buckland Hills
Im impressed with all the recent renovations this theatre made recently, although I don't plan on going to the bar or the Nathan's hot dog stand (tickets themselves are over 10.50$ now, geez) they look nice. Its also nice to see they added new bathrooms that are much larger than the old ones--I haven't waited in a ladies room line since the renovation.
My biggest concern with Showcase Buckland Hills is the fact that its so effing crowded these days--and I know its because they closed the East Hartford and East Windsor locations...huge mistake! I know they did it because the movie industry isn't what it used to be but ughh!! All the rif raf from East Hartford now comes to Manchester--don't bring your baby to a 10pm movie you dummies!
Agreed with the previous reviewer, thanks for reminding me with your review to point out that the IMAX screen here is hardly any larger than what you find at most movie theaters. Which is bad enough, but you're still going to pay out the nose for the privileged of watching the movie on IMAX even for a matinee.
I'll also add that when I went to see Dark Knight last fall they were actually attempting to keep us in the seats we were assigned on the ticket, even though there were less than 10 people in the entire theater. Needless to say nobody was interested in paying that much money for a matinee and then being told where to sit in an empty theater.
When I go to the movies I just want to walk in and see a movie in comfort with minimal distraction. I've been here a couple times now and each time I'd wished I'd gone somewhere else.
Tough to find but nice place. Staff was very nice and very friendly.
A big, fancy movie theater. I tend to go to this one when visiting friends and family in the middle-CT area, from which I originally hailed.
It's got a lot of extra bits, a big concession area and an actual restaurant, but I never really make use of these. It's about as clean as a theater can get and the seats are about as comfortable as you'd expect theater seats to be.
No big surprises here. Enjoy your film.
I love that Showcase upgraded with the bar, but why havent you upgraded your arcade room as well? It has like 5 games and its so cramped and tiny. The theaters and seating are fantastic, but the lines are still as slow as molasses if you happen to have movie passes and have to go up to one of the tellers instead of buying online or using one of the automated machines up front.
This is a really awesome movie theater, that thankfully is pretty close to me. They have 16 regular screen plus an IMAX, plus a restaurant.
I have been there many times for a sneak preview of a movie and they handle the lines so much better than most others around. Its always a pleasure when go there.
They also have a full restaurant/bar attached to the theater, so if you get there early you can sit down and have a meal. If you prefer something quick you can just go to the snack bar that has a couple of options including a Nathan's. If you are going to a movie that they expect a big crowd at they will actually have a person there taking your food order and will deliver it to you right in the theater, which is pretty cool.
Definitely a great theater.
If I lived even remotely in the general vicinity of this theater, this would totally be my go-to place for movies. I went here on my recent CT trip and saw "What Happens in Vegas..." (which totally surprised me and was actually entertaining, by the way). The lobby is immense and clean. Getting our concessions was a quick process. This theater has stadium seating, and the chairs were the lean-back, rocking kind. The sound was find, it wasn't freezing, and the movie started on time.
But this theater has so much more to offer that what we experienced!
There is an IMAX Theater there as well: "IMAX theaters offer unparalleled image and sound quality, making it feel like you are actually IN the movie. Experience the adventure, drama and emotion of some of your favorite Hollywood movies with the extraordinary IMAX visual clarity and sound quality. "
There is a restaurant that is attached to the lobby: "Chatters Bar & Grill, a full service restaurant featuring American fare in a relaxed, sophisticated setting. Patrons enjoy dinner and/or drinks before or after the movie, or just stop by to meet friends for lunch/dinner or an afternoon snack."
You can even do "Dinner and a Movie" and get a special price on food and tickets: "$17.95, 7 days a week - Admission ticket to your film of choice, A selection from our special appetizer menu, Your choice from our Burgers & More menu, A soft drink of your choice"
And the coolest thing, as far as I am concerned, "In Seat Dining": "Enjoy our concession items delivered to your premium Director's Hall seat. Menus are provided when you pick up your tickets at the Box Office and all food is delivered before the movie begins. Menu items range from traditional pop corn and nachos to burgers, pizza, and more. Simply go directly to your seat and one of our servers will take your order. Orders will be received right up until the start of coming attractions and all food will be delivered prior to the start of the film. " Jeez Louise, that is awesome!!
I would LOVE to have one of these theaters in my area. It really seemed like a classy place, and it was a cool effort to make a night out at the movies a little bit more fancy.
