Come here for funky shoes - for example, I bought a pair of shiny, bright red flats with little gold padlocks on the toe for $40. They are really really fun and I get a lot of compliments on them. They also make a ton of noise when I walk because the little padlocks jingle, but no biggie.
There was another pair of shoes here last year I wish I had purchased but foolishly passed on - a pair of Camper black and white flats with cameos on the toe - the right show had a silhouette of a girl and the left shoe had a silhouette of a boy. How fab!
So obviously, this is not the place to come if you are looking for understated pumps, but if you like shoes that make a statement, try Shoefly! Plus it's pretty affordable as boutiques go. They also have purses here, funky purses, naturally.
The first time I walked into this store, I fell in love with it. It has a really fun selection but not a lot of practical/high quality. Recently I was in search of a wristlet and I couldn't find one in the entire store that I wanted. Since they don't really sell 'basics', the appeal of their selection really depends on your taste.
i have bought a bag and pair of boots from the store but both have become worn rather quickly. I learned that browsing and seeing all the cool inventory is one thing, but picking something I would actually buy and lasts is another. I still love this place to buy an occasional fun piece. But if you need a pair of black pumps or a basic evening clutch, go to Pentagon City.
3.5 stars, actually.
First, I think people over use the 5 star rating so don't think I hate this place.
ShoeFly is a great store and reasonably priced as their shoes are, for the most part, good quality. It's interesting because most of the shoes there are pretty unpractical (black and white polka dotted 4" heels with pink trim and a purple bow) but it's great to see such a selection of these random shoes. Their purses are a bit over priced considering they're not real leather and some of their jewelry, even though costume, are a bit cheesy looking and some of it is over priced.
This placed loses points for 1) the random selection 2) sales staff whom I felt were unknowledgable about the lines they carried and the selection in the store. I wish they offered some sort of money back policy (they have credit only) but it's understandable considering the small business.
Botttom line: if you're looking for a random, wild shoe, come here. A bit pricey compared to target but the quality is better.
With all the independent stores seemingly biting the dust in the clarendon area lately, i'm glad this one is staying around.
they have a cute-sy selection of shoes- nothing amazingly foward-thinking, but not exactly your mother's shoe store either. they carry seychelles (a good thing) and even carry a veg-friendly shoe line (whose name escapes me at the moment). while it would be cool if they had a wider variety/selection, shoefly does manage to keep a VERY "unique cute" feel to its store.
the hours are typical business hours- theyre not open too late, so your best bet is to extend your lunch hour....its worth a trip.
Great little boutique, very fun decor. The shoes all seem hand selected and there is a really nice blend of styles and price ranges. ShoeFly also has a great selection of affordable accessories and jewelry.
Great place! I do a walk thru at least once a week. The store is hit or miss. Sometimes I go in wanting 5-6 pairs and then months go by where I can't pin point anything. None the less - it's a great store to browse in, if not buy.
Unique, cute, and trendy shoes. The Naughty Monkey heels are the best, and they're usually cheaper than online!
I absolutely adore this store. Just walking in makes me happy, everyone is friendly and the staff has always been super helpful and attentive.
I've bought at current count 3 pairs of shoes and a pair of boots. All have been amazing quality and I have consistently receive compliments on them. They also seem to have cute bags and accessories though I've only ever bought shoes here.
This store gets all my Yelp love because I recently bought a pair of Palladium shoes - and admittedly I'm kind of an obsessive comparison shopper - but they were cheaper at Shoefly than on http://zappos.com! You obviously can't beat getting to try on your purchase and a pleasant experience to boot but also: cheaper! whoo!
I love the shoes so much here, if I could I would give the whole collection a hug...
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, ........THIS STORE!!

I had to change my original review to write an update.
ShoeFly has extended there hours for the summer. They open at 11 and close at 8 it looks like most times and they're open everyday. And I found out they're getting ready to go online. YES! So we'll be able to shop from our desks at work, or at 1am.
They have a ton of summer shoes right now, and really cute havaianas. And to top that off, they're now carrying melie bianco bags. Check out http://meliebianco.com and they have these adorable headbands they just got I guess, from this company called Fresh Karat. http://www.freshkarat.com I love them. The funky styles are awesome, and let's say us girls around here can use em'. I only wish Daily Candy would write about ShoeFly.
Happy shopping. I love ShoeFly.
I really love this store! On top of current trends, great service - phenomenal prices! Most shoes in the store are less than $100 a pair and they are so cute! Great accessories - handbags, flip-flops (in the summer) and cute jewelry. You have to check this little boutique out - you won't be disappointed!!
This is the only Fly I haven't wanted to smash into a million pieces with a flyswatter. Small, but full of pizazz, I was twisting my tosies with excitement when this tootsie palace opened its doors in my former hood. It added an edge in an area being over-run with baby carriages and Anne Taylor Loft stores. In DC, where conservative black pumps are considered the norm, the funk, flair and fantastic prices of this store were welcomed by me with open-toed shoes...er, um....open arms.
Cool point: The owner opens the store after-hours for you and your girls to indulge in all of your foot fetish dreams. While this is a PG-rated version, you and the girls can try on shoes, sip wine, and nosh on cheese and crackers. It's a win-win. You feel like you have the pull of Paris Hilton at your own private shoe party and the wine makes you all happy and willing to whip out the credit card.
History Lesson: The owner is from my hometown of B-lo, NY, where the original Shoe Fly resides. With its close proximity to Toronto and access to funky styles, the Buffalo store oozed ultra-cool in a town ultra blue-collar. Props to the gal f'er spreading her Red-Wing shoes and opening up in the DC area.
I worked a few blocks from this store for about two years, and probably frequented ShoeFly twice a week. They have the cutest selection of AFFORDABLE shoes and accessories around! Very friendly staff, who definitely love shoes as much as me. I have bought work appropriate shoes, casual shoes, jewelry, bags and gifts for friends, and they never disappoint. Since it's a small boutique, their inventory changes a lot and when they are down to just a couple pair of a certain shoe, they seriously slash the price.
I do love this store because it reminds me that affordable shoes can look gooooood. And the selection changes so often, you're bound to find something. Watch out for their european shop hours (closed mondays and mainly open in the afternoon). However, I'm not sure you can shop on-line since last time I visited the page, it only posted hours and locations (there's also one in Buffalo, NY). This boutique is not to be confused with Shoefly of Seattle, which you can shop on-line.
I love this shoe store. I do. But like all the shoe stores I seem to really like, this one is tres expensive. They always have an interesting selection of shoes and frequently have sales (which helps). I walked by here again tonight (I walk by alot) and noticed that the metallic flip flops I have been in love with for FOREVER are gone. I was really happy when this store moved into my neighborhood, but I hardly see anyone going in or out of there. I hope this review inspires you to visit.
It's nice to have a little boutiquey store that still has a eclectic selection. They don't have hundreds of shoes, but they have some REALLY cool ones for under $100. That's over my price limit, but they have many others for $20 or less per pair. Cute jewelry & bags, too. I like how small, intimate and original they are. And conveniently close to Whole Foods!!
Shoefly is what every neighborhood boutique should aspire to be. Super-friendly service, very cute inventory, great prices. If you're looking for something that is unique, fun, and within your budget, this is the place to go. I love the accessories, especially the purses. I would have given five stars if the shoe selection was a little larger. But I always look forward to stopping here when I'm in Clarendon!
This is probably my favorite boutique on U Street. The shoes, bags, and jewelry are accessible, affordable, and fun. Plus, the shoe selection actually includes some comfortable wares. I could have done with a wider selection of flats, though, because in my opinion, wearing heels is indentured servitude. The service here was also very friendly, and yes, I bought some cute shoes: flats with ribbon threaded around the inner edge of the shoe culminating in a bow. They are great to walk in and have better support than your average flat. They put to shame the flimsy flats I bought from Aldo for the same price.
Such cute shoes and accessories! Unique selection and not too ridiculously pricey. Very nice employees as well. This is usually the place I go first when I'm in search of a new pair of heels :)
