Under new ownership, food as good if not better  always fresh.  The service is superior. It is truly an undiscovered  Gem.

Shiki is a shimmering pearl hidden in the vast, and predominately ugly, ocean of Glen Cove. The restaurant is small but the ambiance is great. The sushi is fresh and delicious, with some unique dishes... Try the sushi pizza.

The best aspect of Shiki is the service. The wait staff is friendly and timely, but the chefs behind the sushi bar are hilarious, ask for Jeff or Kevin.

    Enjoy

I was visiting some old friends in Glen Cove and had a super sushi craving. Shiki was recommended for my belated birthday dinner, since (unlike some other places around, apparently) they serve booze.

Everything was delicious and the service was great. The wait staff was friendly, and weren't irritated with us for arriving half an hour after our reservation.

I had edamame, miso soup, and a spider roll. My friends had shrimp tempura rolls, Alaska rolls, and chicken teriyaki. We were all very pleased with our choices! My spider roll came with "SPIDER" written in spicy mayo on the plate, which I got a huge kick out of. I'm a sucker for presentation, and love when special sushi rolls look like their name. I'm easy to please, I guess!

Anyway, I frequently go through city withdrawal when I visit my hometown and feel like I just end up eating in the same restaurants every time, so I was happy to branch out and discover Shiki!

Shiki is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the area. The place is small but very clean and organized. The food is delicious and average priced for Japanese. Delivery is always quick.

    I tried Shiki recently.

I have to say that I wanted to like the place. The set-up of the place it quite nice on the inside. The wait staff is quite attentive.

However, the food left me with much to desire...

My edamame was under cooked, the gyoza had an off taste. The sushi rice was not prepared properly.

If I was not unhappy with each of the dishes I tried, I would not give such a low score.

I may go back and re-visit Shiki (which will not happen soon), but for now, I cannot recommend it at all...

If you like nigiri then don't come here.  The fish is average at best. There are better places on the island for sushi.
