This place is the Claim Jumpers of sushi. Huge portions at great prices. The fish is fresh and deelish and melts in your mouth. Everything is super tasty, from the bean sprout salad to the dynamite (which is soooo good, mouth watering good). The spicy octopus is the best I've had. The restaurant excels at the specialty rolls. The Rolls Royce is a must. Try either the tempura calamari or tempura salmon rolls: not only is the tempura in the roll, but they add a generous helping on top too. Come hungry. Come casual (no frills dining). This place is good for groups: they even allow you to book the patio for your party if it's big enough. And you can't beat these prices when it comes to sushi!
Tip: don't order too much at first, cause the portions are much bigger than you'd expect.
OK so it's like this:
I dunno what all these three-star reviews are about. I can understand four stars. I myself was teetering on the brink between four and five. But the place deserves an automatic four MINIMUM because it fulfilled Michael's Three Rules of Sushi Restaurant Quality (TM)
1. Food shall be edible, preferably tasty.
2. Food shall be affordable.
3. Food shall not confer upon the eater dysentery, typhoidal salmonella, enterohemmorhagic E. coli, or any manner of intestinal parasite.
I mean come ON, people! It's like ten bucks for a huge sushi lunch that's light on rice, heavy on fish, and is of acceptable quality. Sure, it's not a schmancy-pants paragon of authenticity, but it's pretty good sushi. People are all like "oh look at me, king in the castle, king in the castle. I know words like omakase and ponzu. I demand to meet the tuna from whence my sashimi came." Grow up, you're paying 10 bucks for sushi! It's good! Eat it!
Any place that loads a roll with tasty, silky tuna and little else, then says "hmm, what would make this better? I know! A freaking ton more tuna!" merits five stars by my book. If you are of the same mind, then the "tuna chunks" is for you. (chunks is? Grammar check? Chunks is plural but tuna chunks is a singular dish. So is it 'chunks is' or 'chunks are?')
Freaking everything is good. They give you salad and soup before you even order. That's classy. Scallops on top of a roll, vegi tempura on top of a roll, lobster on top of a roll, can't get much beter. And if you order the unsweetened (just how I like it) iced green tea, they give you a tall glass and keep the refills comin' like it's going out of style.
Boobies. I love saying BOOBIES. Boobies brings a smile to my face ...kinda like saying "cheese" right before taking a picture. But the smile triggered by saying boobies gives momentary pleasure as if we are actually being tickled by them. I'll excitedly and shamelessly shout out "boobies" in the company of good friends and a great pair nearby. I also like to say boner...but I digress.
Shiki is OK but sorta uninspiring. Like many other places.....just because the food is good, the service is great, and the decor is nice...doesn't mean it's also inspiring enough to yelp about it. (unlike boobies!)
I came here for an early dinner with a buddy. We were promptly seated at the bar. After looking through their menu, I realize that the sushi variety was kinda slim but I went ahead and ordered the usual albacore, yellowtail, salmon, and tuna sushi. Sushi averages at about $4.95. The pieces were fresh and HUGE...perhaps the most generous slabs of fish I've never encountered in my sushi eating career. I'd say it's typically enough for two orders at other places. Along with the usual sushi, I've also tried the spicy yellowtail and rainbow roll. Not bad...but forgettable. I probably would not return only because the sushi lacks in variety.
I absolutely love sushi and shiki is one of my favourites in the valley. Love thier salmon chunck cut roll. Can't wait to go back.
The lunch special is such a crazy deal. Ton of food for very cheap.

Very good for the price. For $8, you can get a tempura roll with a spicy tuna roll, salad and soup. There are other rolls for slightly more but the portions are huge and the quality is not bad. Great place for lunch.
Every order of sashimi, comes with an order of free rolls. Two orders of sashimi, with the two orders of free spicy tuna rolls is a lot of food, couldn't finish it all. The salmon sashimi is better than the yellow tail here. The yellow tail isn't that buttery and tasty for some reason. Got the soy bean salad and miso soup comp. Sushi chef was quite nice. 4.5 stars, rounded down.

I wish I were eating there now.
This is my new favorite Japanese restaurant in L.A. The food is delicious, and the prices are so low. They automatically give you soup and bean sprout salad when you sit down. The $7.95 lunch special is amazing. But for dinner, I always get the black cod and tempura combination. You get six pieces of spicy tuna roll or california roll, two pieces (!) of marinated black cod that's like butter, tempura, salad, and soup for only $14.95. No way! It's so good. No wonder it's always crowded here.
Oh how I waivered on this rating... As a disclaimer, I've only been there for lunch. Dinner could be a whole new ball game.
The sushi is consistently good. Considering I've eaten at all of the sushi places in this intersection (I'm no joking either- there are THREE of them), this is the best choice based on the food alone.
Also, the prices? Can't beat 'em. Reasonable and beyond. Lots of good lunch combo specials, etc.
Here is where it goes downhill for me... the location and environment? Well, it's in the back of a long strip mall but I guess that's not their fault... Inside, it always feels a little stuffy to me. And it always smells a bit too fishy. I realize this is a place that SERVES FISH but you know you've been to sushi restaurants that don't smell, right?
And the service is not consistent. One minute they are filling and refilling your drink with a persistent smile and then the next minute, you can't flag a waitress down with a bare chest and hundred dollar bill sticking out of your mouth...
To sum up -- for me, personally, I do it this way: If I'm in a good mood, I'll go. The food is worth it. If I'm in a lesser mood, I'm likely to go somewhere that won't frustrate me as much.
I love this place. I come here often with one of my girlfriend who live in this area. and ever since If I'm in that area, I take my friends there that lives in studio city.
I only tried their sashimi! FRESH, HUGE slices of fishes! SALMON, YELLOWTAIL and TUNA. :-)
I tried sushi @ Shiki once.
From rolls' point of view is pretty good, that specific day didn't get sashimi, I don't know why, so I can't rate that, but their rolls are petty big and good. The three stars go to the fact, that it's not my type of sushi place. Don't get me wrong they have some good rolls, but I think maybe the crowd was unappealing to me, lots of 40s big shots around with their high maintenance dates. (I know these are secondary, I'm supposed to rate this based on food taste)... When I love place I love everything about it, so, to me the environments wasn't attractive, therefore an average review. But, as I mentioned above, the sushi is good.
The choice is yours.
Shiki is my go-to sushi place in the Valley.
I'll admit with full disclosure that it's really not an establishment for sushi purists. And I'd like to believe that I have a little sushi elitist in me - his name is Kenzo and he wears a jaunty hat. Anyway, I know that rolls are not real sushi, and I know that sashimi is not supposed to be smothered in soy sauce. So for those elitists, the nigiri and sashimi are not bad. The fish is fresh and those that I've sampled are flavorful, not too fishy, and with a pleasant texture.
It's at this point that I kind of have to tell Kenzo to pipe down and go knit me a scarf, because he comes at me with all of these complaints...
K: But the fish isn't artfully cut! And sashimi isn't supposed to be that big!
Me: I hear ya, man. But I have a large appetite for sushi and I happen to appreciate Shiki's gargantuan portions.
K: And what is this about them dumping all of those fish chunks in that goofy cream sauce on top of cut rolls?
Me: Yeah, I know it kind of looks like dog food from afar. But again - it's a lot of food, which - I can't complain. And it's kind of like getting roll+oddly cut sashimi in one fell swoop. Also, it's tasty!
K: I shouldn't even stoop to arguing with you. You order Philadelphia rolls.
Me: Guilty! But I like cream cheese and cucumber! It reminds me of a nice lox bagel! And I promise I don't consider it sushi. I only consider it tasty.
So let me be clear - Shiki is an Americanized sushi restaurant. So once I establish that, I submit that it's quite a gem of a place. You get a lot of what you order, so though the prices may seem a bit high on the menu, it's because you're ordering Costco-sized sushi. Which again, if you're not looking for a 100% authentic experience, I honestly see as a GREAT thing.
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I have had better sushi, but it's at much more expensive and traditional authentic sushi bars. And I can't really afford to be a regular at those kind of places. They're *special*. Shiki fills the void exceedingly well - tasty fish, great prices, and yes, they do have a nice variety of rolls if you're into that kind of thing. Shiki is kind of a best-of its class for me. I've never not loved a meal here, and I always walk out satisfied that I'm full of fish. Win-win.
Whoa. I love this place.
The sushi is HUGE pieces of fresh fish!! I was amazed.
The Alex roll is delicious, especially if you like spicy tuna.
They have some creative rolls that I am definitely going back to try. The atmosphere was fine, nothing to write home about, but it definitely was a great place for our group.
I will definitely go back for some more delicious sushi!
GREAT LUNCH SPECIALS!!
GREAT DINNER SPECIALS!!
The albacore chunk roll is my favorite sushi roll EVER!!
Saw Joe Walsh of the Eagles in the parking lot. Thought he was dead at first, but he was just really into his Blackberry.
My wife got her picture taken with Pete Sampras and his wife here.
I took friends of mine who were visiting from French Polynesian, they were real Polynesians & I'm sad to say I was embarrassed at how bad the sushi was. We sat at a table & ordered a platter. The bar was packed with what seemed to be regulars who were happily stuffing their faces. A very friendly place, but when the platter arrived & took one look at the huge pieces of sashimi, I knew we were in for lousy fish as it was obvious that the fish was not fresh because it was dull, not shiny.
The sashimi were the largest pieces I've ever seen (about 4" long, 1" wide & very thick) but they were VERY cold; it was obvious all the fish (yellow tail, tuna, etc.) had been frozen & defrosted. The flesh was not firm it was MUSHY. There were 6 adults (including 2 teenaged boys) & we could not finish the platter because the sashimi was just just lousy; mushy, not fresh.
Here I'd raved about how we have great sushi in Studio City (Kazu, Katsu-Ya) & we tried this place as it was next door to their hotel (the Sportsmen's Lodge)... so I asked the chef if they had good uni (sea urchin), customers at the bar & the chef said it was "great".
So, we ordered uni sushi & even that wasn't good, it was passable.
I have NO CLUE as to how anyone could think this is good sushi.
Sushi Delivery on Riverside west of Coldwater Cyn. has much better sushi, just no ambiance, so have it delivered.
Worst Japanese ever!
As a Japanese who was born and raised in Japan, it is very interesting and on the other hand, really sad to find out that people love this restaurant.
I cannot even call out foods they offer are actually Japanese. Everything is just over cooked and spiced, plus too sweet and greasy. There are lots of Japanese restaurants which we can make fun of with bad taste. I could compromise and laugh about such places, but Shiki is not that kind of restaurant.
Plus service is not that great, either. How many servers do we need for one single table ?? Actually we have at least three different servers are bringing our foods without any memories of what we ordered, then try arguing with us. That's not really JAPANESE, either.
There are tons of Japanese choices on Ventura Blvd. Try others, absolutely avoid this one.
people get won over by this place because of the moutain of toppings they put on their rolls. the price isn't bad or anything. it's just the quality of fish isn't stupendous. if your only going to have a couple of items it is really worth it to come here. they give you A LOT of those couple of items. if your ordering more variety in your meal, just go to ayce midori sushi. the quality is the same and you can get more variety for the price. the people in the burbs would love this place
recommendations: spicy scallop roll
Two words: Fish Chunks.
Undoubtedly your mouth is watering beyond belief right now, and that's totally understandable. Those two little words is how my friend first described this place, and believe me, my interest was sparked. I had to see for myself sushi covered in fish chunks.
Fish. Chunks.
So my friend, through no twisting of my arm whatsoever, took me to Shiki. Let me tell you, I was Shiki-shocked at how good this place was, especially since we had just had sushi the night before of the predictably safe Kabuki. Or should I say Ka-Boring...Haha, that got 'em.
It's located in a small strip mall type setting, nothing to spectacular from the outside and the inside is pretty standard: tables and a sushi bar. However, as my friend made sure to point out the most appetizing freshest fish inside the sushi bar cases. This stuff looked so fresh (How fresh was it?!). They were so fresh they were practically moving. I kid you not.
The menu's have pictures on it so you can see what exactly is different about Shiki. True story, the night before I enjoyed a Philadelphia roll at Kabuki. Just a simple rolled stuffed with a piece of salmon and cream cheese and some veggie. Snore. Shiki delivers this same item, but the roll is only stuffed with cream cheese and veggie thing, and on top is this HUGE piece of salmon. My God, it was good.
Word of warning, portions are big. I was almost full half way through my Philly roll which is kind of a big deal because I love to eat sushi. My friend got the Salmon Sashimi, and there were so many pieces, it was craaaaaazy. What we did is each got one roll or item of our own, then shared another (the Baby Lobster roll, sooo good!). I highly recommend doing this if you go with another person. If you go with more then one well then you're on your own as I have made it a rule never to hang out with more then one person at a time. Too many names to remember.
Extra perks are the free miso soup and really helpful and nice service. I'm really looking forward to going back, and totally giving Kabuki a "Pssht" look when I walk by him in the halls at school. Whatevs Kabuki, I've got a new sushi boyfriend.
Leaky ceiling - classy
Passing food under the leaky ceiling - super classy!
A bucket of dirty rain water on a counter is just not something I look for in restaurant.
The food itself was good - huge portions and a somewhat different presentation. Spicy tuna roll was covered with chucks of tuna, I think I still prefer simple rolls more. The sexy roll is a beast - a giant roll wrapped in a cucumber shell with salmon, mushrooms, imitation crab paste, and tuna; so huge it barely fits in your mouth. Unagi roll was unfortunately fried in teriyaki sauce and it didn't say so on the menu, but (!) it was not covered in fish chunks!
One of my friends always raves about this place. According to him it's "the best sushi ever". But i'm always very skeptical about whose opinion i value when it comes to sushi suggestions. But last night my boyfriend and i were in the area so we decided to give it a shot. For once i wasn't really in the mood for sushi, but that's probably because i had it for lunch earlier in the day. But of course i couldn't say no when my boyfriend wanted to take me out to a sushi dinner. So i suggested we try Shiki. I loved the little outdoor dim-lit patio. But i didn't have a sweater so we sat inside. I just got a Rainbow Roll and Dylan got his Dragon Roll. I swear, the rolls were ready in like 2 minutes. But other than that, service was pretty slow and our waiter would disappear for 15 minutes at a time haha. Anyway, both of the rolls were tasty, although we weren't huge fans of the eel sauce that they used, but at least they didn't put that much on it. The portions of fish on my rainbow roll were amazing. Huge fresh chunks of fish. It was delicious. Since i wasn't really in the mood for sushi to begin with, i was just gonna get a basic tuna or albacore roll, until i saw the prices! It literally cost the same amount to get a rainbow roll as it did to get a basic albacore roll...about $11.00. Kind of ridiculous, but now that i look back i'm glad i ended up getting the Rainbow Roll because it was pretty damn good.
We also got a couple orders each of yellowtail and albacore sushi, and the portions of fish on those were insane. You can't really tell by the picture i took, but each piece of sushi was at least 3 big bites. We were so stuffed after only having 2 pieces each. While the yellowtail was really fresh and delicious, i was a little disappointed with the albacore. It could have been fresher and there was way too much ponzu sauce on it/ i wasn't a fan of their ponzu. Oh well. Now i know for next time to stick to the yellowtail.
I'll probably be back one of these days. While it wasn't as amazing as my friend made it out to be, it was still pretty good. Not my first choice in the area, but not a bad 2nd or 3rd choice. I suggest giving it a try.
If you want a quick, inexpensive sushi fix, this is the place to go. It's located in a small shopping center and the interior is as plain as it gets. The sushi, however, is pretty darn amazing.
You get free miso soup and bean sprouts (which are AH-mazing).
I usually get the spicy albacore or the spicy salmon chunk rolls. They basically bring out cut rolls piled HIGH with chunks of fish (which are good quality).
I also recommend the Alex Roll if you like spicy tuna... it's MOUNDS of spicy tuna on top of tempura rice.
ALL their food comes in extremely big portions, so make sure to start with only a few items on the menu.
This is my go-to spot for sushi therapy in times of stress. Try it. I promise results.
Just finished my first lunch here and really enjoyed it.
I ordered the Tempera Eel Roll Lunch Special (was good, not great) that came with salad, soup AND 6pc California Roll.
I also order a Spicy Tuna Handroll (so good).
I definitely did not realize how HUGE the portions were. I could not finish it all.
Paid on $15 for eveything. Great taste and value.
My most favorite Sushi places to eat. I can eat there everyday. Price is good and portions are awsome. Beware sushi eaters, they give big slice of fish.
I haven't been here for at least 4 years but back in the days when i used to frequent this place, I thought it was a decent sushi joint.
They used to serve big pieces and have interesting, albeit non-Japanese, rolls, like Rolls-Royce rolls, which were surprisingly delicious.
It used to get packed on the weekends with a lot of Russians, which I found amusing.
Huge delicious fresh portions - great service - cute place - great value - how can this NOT be 4 stars minimum????
I had to eat here about half a dozen times to make sure I really, really like it. Some people say, "eh, too Americanized". Well ya know what? I love my country, and I stand behind any butchering of authentic ethnic food, in the name of freedom!
Nah, I just really like good sushi. The rolls here are delish, with the obviously Goonies themed Chunk Roll, which is a bunch of fish layered on a cut roll of the same nature. The incredible Assi and Shiki rolls are by far the best rolls I have ever had and the Alex Roll which takes the idea of crispy spicy tuna and multiplies it by 5. And the fish itself is really good too - good quality, lovely texture and perfect size. The service is not great, and they tend to run out of things which can be disappointing, particularly the bean sprouts in garlic oil that comes free. And best miso soup ever!
I've read some of the other reviews, and it makes me sad that others have such bad service with one visit that they gave Shiki only 1 or 2 stars. I've been to Shiki many times, and while at times the waiters can be a tad slow, I've never experience anything to warrant giving the restaurant only 1 or 2 stars.
The sushi: I've never had a bad plate. I usually judge a sushi joint by their rainbow roll, and Shiki's is spot-on. Really, my only problem with Shiki is that you can't order too much, as the portions are huge. While you could easily get away with at least two specialty rolls at other establishments, remember always to order one roll at a time at Shiki.
That also means that although the prices may look a teensy bit on the expensive side, it really is a cheap meal since you never have to order a lot to be satisfied.
Shiki is absolutely one of my two favorite sushi places in the valley.
Spacey servers, a spotty menu, and a psychotic cashier lady would normally not bode well for a restaurant, but this place stretches the US dollar so well that it doesn't even matter. When you're looking for lunch on the cheap (under $15 with tip), and your belly is growling for lunch rolls that have been bolstered and bastardized to accommodate the hearty American appetite (includes soup and salad), then look no further than the real meal deal that awaits you at "The Sheek."
large portions, bad service. scratch that. non-existent service. you know, basic stuff like water, utensils, plates... "how are you doing"... etc.
guess im not enough of a douchebag to warrant any service. that's fine i can deal. there are plenty of good quality places all up and down ventura.
plus you ran out of hot sake because as you said "last night too many people drink drink"
Seriously large portions of pretty good quality fish. Don't over order! Rolls usually come with the roll you order and then pieces of the fish present in the roll on the side. Nigiri is great and I especially liked the tuna which is usually just so-so in many places. Tempura red bean ice cream? OK!
Like another yelper suggested, this is a great sunday place when most traditional sushi bars would be closed. Very reasonable prices, about $20pp does the trick.
Not a romantic place, but a good for a casual date.
PARKING UPDATE: They roped off that super secret parking spots by the restaurant...(( boohoo, you stupid valet douchebags, I still wont pay for parking!!! 20 steps of walking doesn't hurt anybody, just your stupid greedy pockets...F.U...yea, I said it! lol! ))

White people, white people, white people everywhere but not a drop to drink.
As i sat down a the packed sushi bar the drunken forty-something in Tommy Bahama shirtwear next to me, roll in his mouth, leaned over to inform me of the amazing Mackerel that i had to order... ah okay buddy. On the other side of my friend another forty-something questioned one of the sushi chefs, "This is so good, is this fish from Japan" to which the chef snidely replied, "no, costco" You can tell the sushi jockeys were used to cheesy people trying to bolster their sushi cred with stupid questions. Upon looking over the menu i was a little confused, most all the house rolls looked more like mayo ceviche, you couldn't even see the rice because of the moundds of 'fish chunks" save for the chicken teriyaki roll (yikes) in which i think i saw some rice. (i would like to go on record as to that being a disgusting phrase... fish chunks, ewh) There is no reason a tinny soggy roll should be drowned in mayo covered sashimi. Nothing caught my eye so i figured i would stick with one of my standards, a scallop roll, the chef translated that to a spicy scallop chunk roll which aparently is another of their mayo-fests. It wasn't bad but there was close to no roll and just mounds of mayo slathered scallops. Meh, kinda weak, i like the taste of a raw scallop, there is no need to douse it in scallion and tons of mayo to make it more palatable. My buddies spicy tuna on crispy rice was damn good, but not nearly flavorful or spice enough. I should have know this was a step above kabuki when i saw the pink ginger and couldn't taste the wasabi but over all it wasn't the worst i have had, just by no means great.
Bad indifferent service that at some point brings you large portions of raw fish that you may or may not want to finish. The fish looks and tastes on the cheap side, although to be fair some of it was OKish. Stay away from the sashimi. There were dirty tables all around us, although it was an hour until closing. Never ever again.
Good place, great prices, I have been there many a time and never been disappointed in the food, big portions as well and I love the fact you get soup and salad automatically when you sit down. The service can be a bit off sometimes, not every server seems to understand or speak good English they will bring you the wrong food or a couple times they forgot some things we ordered, but usually we were full and didn't even need the food, this tends to happen when they are very busy, they are always nice and apologetic about it. I don't think it's a very structured business sometimes I have had 3 or 4 servers help our table. The real draw back is the tables are very close together and it feels a bit clastrophobic when it is very busy. I always feel satisfied.
First and foremost:
500 meters west on the other side of Coldwater is a place called YEN. Go there instead. You will NOT be dissapointed. im serious.
Anyways Shiki.. i had the "chunk" spicy tuna. Very good. i liked it. However, the service is really bad here. I waited about an hour to get our entire order. Every plate came separately, so one of us had to wait forever for their order. They completely forgot about our last dish. we had to order it again. wtf come on. How can a sushi bar with terrible service compete in a quarter mile radius of other places that are 10 times better??
TOO much $$$$ for awful service.
I have been to Shiki a few times and thought it was okay. I feel they give you such large portions because it isn't high-quality fish. I wouldn't call it bad or low-quality... just not high-quality. If you compare the quality to other restaurants, it doesn't match. But if you are a person that only gets rolls then you might be okay with it, because it is mixed with other things. But if you are getting sushi or sashimi, then you might not be so impressed. Two of my favorite things to order when I eat at sushi restaurants are albacore and spicy scallop rolls. The albacore just isn't flavorful and the scallops are quite mushy. Any time you serve scallops they should start off very dry. It doesn't seem that theirs are. The only place that I have really found high-quality, flavorful sushi at a reasonable price is Sushi Dan in Studio City.
The service here is also not the best. Many times we have had to remind them about our drink order. And the waitress rarely comes around to ask how we are doing or if we need anything else.
Great party atmosphere!....sitting at the sushi bar is suppposed to be a good experience. John my chef - made sure that we had a great time. I don't know where to start and where to end with all of the sashimi and sushi we ate. The portions were very generous and the saki was grand!....had a great time - would recommend it!
Nestled in the back of a shopping mall just off Ventura Boulevard is a little sushi joint that is definitely worth a try. I will say, it's no Nozawa or Katsuya, but if you are hungry, watching your budget and like specific things, then it's pretty damn good.
My gang and I are in love with the Spicy Scallop Handroll, which frankly is only fit for a giant's hand because it is that H U G E.
The Yellowtail is incredible. Oh and one key to this place is when ordering actual sushi pieces, ask to have them cut in half, because they are rather large and if you are say, out on a date and trying impress and can't fit the bite in your mouth without if crumbling apart, you'll wish you would have planned ahead. (No, no, I don't speak from personal experience here at all, doh!)
As for rolls, I'd say go with the Ventura Roll, the Shiki Roll, the Rolls Royce Roll and my fave, the Crunchy Scallop Roll. All are pretty yumtastic.
All in all, this is the place to take the unsnooty sushi lover, who hasn't maybe had the 'It's all so good I feel like I am suddenly hooked on heroin' experience that some of the finer sushi establishments create, but it is a huge step up from a California Roll from Trader Joe's and the check total isn't so bad.
Try it and if all fails, there is a walk -ins welcome massage place in the same mini mall, so hey, win win!
Oh and for out of towners, it's right next to the Sportsman's Lodge, so if you want to opt out of room service and take a little stroll, it's literally a parking lot away.
Enjoy!
ahhh... where to start...
so, I'm thinking to myself, "there's tons of great sushi spots on ventura blvd., how can you go wrong?" - well, I found "wrong" and it answers to the name of SHIKI.
I love sushi. I really really do. that's why I'm feeling like I'm committing some blasphemous act by writing a bad review about a sushi spot. But I must warn the masses. The sushi quality is so poor, and just tastes old and gross.
I had two (yes, only two) pieces of sushi before getting so sick that I was downing a pack of tums like they were some delicious, but chalky, candy.
Save yourselves the belly pain and the extra expense of having to buy tums.
A tucked away location that's better off staying hidden.
Reviews about large portions were spot on, but this was an extremely underwhelming experience. Much better sushi to be had in the 818 to even bother trying this place.
Worst part was dodgy service that was confused and disaffected most of the time.
Only positive is it was relatively inexpensive.
While it wasn't terrible, I cannot envision a scenario in which I would return to this restaurant.
