8 reviews for Sherman Oaks Antique Mall
After driving by for years and never remembering to stop in, a friend brought me to the Sherman Oaks Antique Mall recently. The place is just crammed with fascinating stuff from front to back, floor to ceiling. I got a little lost wandering through it, but lost in a good way.
If I needed some beautiful vintage jewelry, either costume or the real deal, I'd come here first. They have an enormous selection of treasures in that department. I also noticed that they have some vintage clothes in great condition, and a handful of furniture pieces as well. I was impressed by the selection of glass and crystal as well as the fine china, and the vintage toys were something to see as well.
In addition to the great merchandise, the staff was very friendly. I was looking for a pair of cool frames to pop my prescription in, and I must have had the employee open a half dozen cases for me. In the end I wound up spending about $60 on four pairs of interesting frames, much less than a single pair of frames would have cost at Lens Crafters.
This store is my new destination spot for finding interesting and unique gifts for the hard to find gift or the hard to shop for person, as there are items at all price points found within it's four walls.

This place is like a time warp to the past. Just reminds me that people were so much more glamorous and things are meant to be treasured. There is so much jewelry and pieces here that just make you think "wow". If you haven't been here before plan on at least half an hour to look at everything. But that's just to glance at things, more time to really look at the stuff here. Everything is amazing and it's a gem.

Looking for an awesome retro atomic vase or gorgeous art deco jewelry? How about WWII-era smoking pipes or antique chandeliers? Have you been searching for a turn-of-the-century Daguerreotype gold frame or that perfect mid-century modern side table (I had been...And I found "the one" and bought it!!)? Or...OK, I'll stop there, because I could go on forever.
You can pretty much find anything to fall in love with from throughout the last 100 years, the vendors here have everything! The staff is incredibly friendly and you can tell how much passion they have for what they do.
Some of the vendor spaces are exploding with amazing stuff from inch to inch, so be prepared to spend hours here...Though it can be overwhelming, part of the fun is finding that perfect something. Don't forget to look up, because like one previous reviewer said, it's literally filled from floor to ceiling.
In my quest to review antique malls, here's my third one in the row. Yet again, I have been visiting antique malls since 2006. This mall no less. Here's my first review of this place.
Having to travel to the "valley" is a pain for a me. The traffic, the rather stagnant air that plagues the "valley". We rarely head north on 405, then 110S and exit in the Sherman Oaks area. But this time we did.
Sherman Oaks Antique mall seems a little more cluttered than Wertz Bros (Santa Monica) and Culver City Antique Center. Then again, it's not a bad thing. Aren't we suppose to look for treasures in a mountain of clutter-ness?
It's true, this mall has more valuables from the 30s, 40s than the previous two malls. I bet if you look hard enough, it is possible to find vintage accessories from the rolling 20s as well.
I bought an ivory bracelet for my wife here. It's one of the most beautiful piece of Chinese jewelry I have seen. Imagine two pieces of crescent-shaped ivories hinged at one end and fits nicely around the wrist with a pair of well carved dragon heads meeting each other at this end.
This place rocks. You can spend all day in here and still not come close to seeing everything. The staff is very helpful and it is pretty easy to navigate the aisles.
I spent 2 hours here last Saturday. This place is amazing. They have EVERYTHING. Jewelry, clothes, records, lighters, pipes, fur coats...Perfect for anyone who loves vintage and a great place to buy unique gifts.
Everything here is absolutely gorgeous. Fuck Ikea and Target, I'm doing my furniture/silverware/decoration shopping here from now on.
Although the name of this place suggests antique furniture and vintage housewares, I come here for the fantastic selection of vintage clothing. I have found lovely evening dresses from the 1940s, 1930s silk housecoats, and a beautiful red early 1930s flapper gown, all at prices well under $100, and well under their true values. I have also found beautiful ethnic Indian sky high Christian Dior stilettos in great condition for $25. This place is an uncovered goldmine of vintage and designer apparel and accessories, but you must keep checking back because merchandise moves very fast. Expect mainly womens' vintage apparel (all sorts) from the early 1900s to the 1980s (with a strong focus on the 1940s-1960s), as well as designer and modern apparel. The condition of all items is usually near perfect, not to mention some of the best prices in the city. The mall is fairly large, so allow yourself time to browse. Also, wear clothing that you can try garments on over, because there are no dressing rooms. You will not be dissappointed, but I may be, because I just revealed to you one of my secret places!
