My Senior Prom was held here 6 years ago.  The only tricky part about finding the entrance was that it was sort of hidden, but we managed to find it.

The ballroom was amazing!! There was even enough room for the photographers to put up 3 or more different backdrops for pictures.

I had fun.  The food was good, the place was just awesome, and a big thanks to them for making my night special :)

This is my third time staying here.  I think the staff deserves five stars as they are friendly and helpful.  The property on the other hand is less than stellar which despite millions of dollars in renovations, still comes across as somewhat lacking.  When I was here two years ago, the standard rooms had just been done.  In that short time, the furnishings are starting to look careworn.  The sliding mirrors in the bathroom which open into the room which were so appealing are now annoying.  You can't see that easily as they are set so far back.

Who thought that a feather-down duvet in Honolulu for the bed was a good idea?  Like it gets that cold in Honolulu???   Not even with the A/C blasting do you need a feather -down duvet!

Prices as one might expect are pricey.  $33 a day for valet parking, for example.  There are deals to be had for the rooms, so check around before making your reservation.

I might have given the Sheraton Waikiki 3 stars had it not been for the great service we encountered everywhere.  We booked the hotel with the flight and a rental car as a package, so I wouldn't be able to tell you all what we payed.

I know that there isn't anything to do about it, but I have to say that the construction ,having things roped off and all that construction tape really got to me.  It just made everything look dirty.  This was only magnified by the fact that it was super, super, SUPER crowded.  I mean, we expected some of it...it was Memorial Day weekend.  But on top of the holiday crowd there was a childrens group dance tournament (not as big as Showstoppers, thank God!) and a prom going on.  Ugh, there were so many uncontrolled, hyperactive children of all ages frolicking about.

Yeah, the room was nice, plainly decorated, but not in a bad way.  The Bliss toiletries were good too.  Overall, with the stellar service, not a bad place.  The gym isn't half bad either, I just wished they had free headphones like other Sheratons.

Ah, the Sheraton Waikiki.  Such an awesome launchpad for all things O'ahu.  We scored an awesome deal on Priceline, just a hundred bucks a night.  We also got upgraded to an ocean view room, which was a definite plus.

I guess there're a few things to mention about the Sheraton.  The rooms were pretty plush.  Recently renovated, beautiful lithographs of Hawaiian fauna on the walls and in the hallway.  Toiletries by Bliss, but we did feel that the line the Sheraton uses, mandarin and lime, was of a lesser grade than the lemon sage you'll find at the W Hotel.  Hey, I'm just saying.  Our room also had a flat screen LCD, a balcony, and a fridge, which is super convenient for packing leftovers and essentials.  Like beer.

Most of the lobby was under construction.  Not that this is a huge deal, I mean, you live in your room and play on the resort.  The lobby is just a means to an end, right?  It does, otherwise feel a little outdated, so I'm sure they're due an overhaul.  That said, most elevators only went to the second floor, which was a minor inconvenience.  But it was also cute to see some of the events going on in the ballroom including a senior prom and some kind of military gala.  Pretty cool.

But if you're at a Waikiki hotel, you're really here for one thing--the beach.  To that end the Sheraton delivers.  You can totally relax by the pool, have your lava flows charged to your room, and once you're done sunbathing, walk right onto Waikiki beach.  It's just amazing.  From there you can walk right into the warm currents of the Pacific, hop from bar to bar along the beach, catch a ride on a catamaran or take surfing lessons.  Sure it's touristy, but it's awesome.

On the city side of the hotel, you'll find a horde of tourist traps along Kalakaua Avenue, all kinds of shopping you're likely to find at your local downtown metro area.  There're also a ton of restaurants that cater specifically to Japanese tourists near by.  Even the Cheesecake Factory had its menu in Japanese.

As for other amenities, the Sheraton is decent.  The people at the front desk were awesome.  As for housekeeping, I don't know why they bother with "privacy please" placards.  There were maybe five or six times I heard a knock on the door ("Housekeeping!") when I wanted to be left alone in peace and quiet.  Laundry rooms on the 4th and 18th floor are the perfect excuse to pack light.  Half of the machines were out of order, but since nobody was using them anyway, it wasn't much of a problem. Parking is 20 bucks a night, and isn't too hard to figure out once you're signed up.  Internet service is also pay per day, and that's a major letdown.

In short, If you're looking for a hotel on Waikiki Beach that isn't necessarily super fancy, the Sheraton is good as any.  A hundred bucks a night?  Yeah, I'd do it again.

I kept forgetting to review this hotel when I stayed in Honolulu for four months for work (yup, you read right, four months for work!) so I thought I would review it now. The hotel is located in Waikiki right by the beach. I was offered a huge room during my first night here. I wasnt able to stay at this hotel the entire four months and was forced to leave for a few days to another Sheraton hotel. But when I returned a few days later, I was upgraded to a suite with an ocean view!! It was awesome. There were times I had to leave because the hotel was fully booked, but each time I returned I specifically requested to stay in the same suite and my request was almost always accomodated. The hotel has a food station that has freshly prepared food for lunch/dinner that you can take to go. This was really convenient for me because I got really tired of eating out everyday, plus the meals were good and cheap. The room service was excellent and the staff for turn down service were really nice. The hotel pool overlooked the beach. If you plan on taking a trip to Hawaii I'd definitely recommend staying here.

This hotel has the best location. I visited for Halloween and stayed in a sick room with an amazing view. They had just opened their new rooftop pool which was awesome. They had these black mojitos from Ty Ku just for halloween which were perfect--not too sweet. The hotel itself is huge which I liked..everything was really spread out. I can't wait for another trip to Hawaii. I won't stay anywhere else.

Being a kid at heart, I loved how this hotel is situated in the center of Waikiki beach.

It is like my bed was strategically placed in the playground itself.

Sleep, play, shower, lounge. That cycle or arrange it however it pleases you.

The hotel itself is huge and you will have your cardio work out before you get to your room.

I am a little partial to the room lay out. It is very minimalistic- flat screen, desk which goes as your night stand, a pull over desk and an ottoman/ chair.

The fridge is barely working and there seem to be not enough shower necessities there. The sizes of the shampoo bottles are on the small side.

I was greeted with the sound of jackhammers and occassional wall pounding but the staff was very apologetic and it has been ongoing for years now.

The pool is very nice, you can lounge by the big ledge with lounge chairs placed by and around it. Get there early to get a nice lounge location as some people love to stash their towels and leave for hours.

There is Rumfire bar to quench your thirst. The pool attendants roam around and will cater to your need.

Not far away from the lobby is Twist. It offers breakfast buffet and a sitdown prefixed dinner at night. You will not miss the elevator going there (the restaurant is located at the 30th floor of the building) as there is a ginormous board located infront of the elevator.

Peet's is tucked away behind the guest elevators which is nice as it is not densely populated.

Not fancy the "lazy commoner's" daily affair? There is a Royal Hawaiian Center mall infront of it and more stores along the strip that will cater to everyone's needs.

I also commend their staff for giving us a hospitality room where we can take a shower even if we're already checked out. We checked out way too early to get into our tour and left our luggage at the bell hop room. By afternoon we still have time to lounge at the pool and go to  take a shower later (this is scheduled and pre planned. go to the front desk so they can give you the room keys).

Not the Sheraton Waikiki that I was use too.  I've stayed here a couple of times prior to this stay 07/02/09 - 07/04/09.  I booked the Sheraton Waikiki because of its great location and past experience.  I was unaware of the construction going as they didn't mention anything when booking.  From the looks of it, their remodel will take awhile.  It was a little inconvenient getting around and a bit of an eyesore with all that renovating going on.

The rooms here are average.  I would suggest getting a ocean front view room as these rooms have unparallel views of waikiki waters.  The beds are comfortable as most starwood hotels are.

Be forewarned that the Sheraton Waikiki does not have a beach directly adjacent to the property.  Access to the beach is only through their sister property next door.  A little inconvenient, not really a deal breaker.  The pool is annoyingly crowded.  There are a ton of kids running around.  What irritated me the most is that people start to reserve chaise lounges as early as 7am.  They come down put towels on multiple chairs and walk away.  I don't think this is fair for other guests and the hotel should do something about this.

The staff overall is quite friendly and readily available to give any suggestions for things to do and see.  As most people rent cars in hawaii, valet parking at the Sheraton is $26, while self parking is $20 per day.  Standard for most Waikiki hotels.

Sleep Well!!!

This hotel really took care of us.  The doorman at the front remembered our name every time we came out and greeted us with a smile each time.  The Front Services Rock!

I was from the Hotel Industry and travel quite a bit and stay at Mid-Range hotels quite frequently - Hyatt, Marriott, Sheraton.  I have learned that you cannot always expect the same range of service at these properties and that they vary widely based on where you are staying.  I have stayed elsewhere in Waikiki before and the service was just okay.  Nice, but not personal.

Sheraton Waikiki upgraded our room to an Oceanfront Suite, which was completely unexpected and such a nice treat.  But I am not rating the hotel based on the upgrade.

The Staff is what makes this hotel what it is.  The Front Desk agent was friendly and greeted us with such kindness.  the housekeeping department and Room Service Department were friendly, used our names all the time and brought us what we needed right away.

The area that takes the cake though are the guys up front at Valet.  Like I said, the Doorman - fabulous and great at his job.  I am sorry I never got his name as I was always juggling two kids into the car.  Made us feel so welcomed.  The car was always waiting for us every time we came downstairs.  They even offered to help us throw out some trash in our car without us asking (and I am talking dirty baby diaper here).  So totally a step beyond what I would have expected their services to cover.

I just loved feeling important.  Isn't that what everyone wants when they travel?  Anyway, if they treat all their guests this way, I cannot hesitate to suggest them to all.

Great job Sheraton Waikiki!  I will be seeing you again soon.

Used to work here a few years ago. rooms are nice, suites are big, and staff is always friendly. you can get anything you need in all the stores around the lobby and pool area. they used to have two pools, a kids one and a regular one. friday nights usually include pool side entertainment. (firedancers, movies and popcorn, etc)

they're doing construction on the pool area, renovating it I guess? they had great activities for the kids.. star gazing and camp fire smores in the fire pit by the pool.

the sheraton is definitely one of the more economical hotels on kalakaua but its also a lot of fun

Location = clutch
Lobby = filled with HOT japanese girls everywhere
Pool = filled with lame families (hence minus -1 star)

one of the best locations to stay in waikiki. the rooms were whatever, but it was pretty cheap.  the pool is awesome, but wished the crowd from Dukes was in there in their bikinis.  Shopping is closeby and they were great.

fitness room sucked...dunno, it had no windows.

The first night in Hawaii we asked the sheraton concierge where we can get local food.  The guy recommended the old spaghetti factory.  WTF?  I am fat I've already been there.   He may as well said to go eat at the cheesecake factory.  Freakin retarded.  We ended up taking one of his recommendations and eating at the ward shopping mall.  There was some diner we eat it.  Not local flavor.  -1 star.  But this place has the best infinite pool on waikiki.  A bunch of other people stayed at the other hotels including the halekulani and surf rider.  Both their pools sucked.  Everyone spent their pool time at the sheraton pool.  But when I got into the pool the infinite pool turned into a raging water fall.  I blame it on the mac daddy pancakes and my fatty ass.  The rooms were ok.  The hallways are hot as crap.  No AC outside the room exists.  This hotel was centrally located around the area.  I would stay here again just for the pool.

It is unfortunate that my mid-term review on Sheraton had to be not so good one.... Less than 3 months to go to my wedding day, and I finally got the finalized menu for 2009 that we've been waiting for the past 3 months. We were getting anxious as we didn't have the menu until now!! And the menu has completely changed for 2009. The "new" 2009 menu does not include Bar menu or Banquet menu, and the hotel is boasting to be the best place for weddings and conferences??? hmmm....

I also finally got the quotation for my three tiered cake, and price has gone up about 20% from the 2008 menu. In this economy and I bet Hawaii's hurting right now due to the airfare and less tourists. But they gotta squeeze that money out of people like us who cannot back out on our wedding at this point. Jeeez.... give me a break!

I don't know how destination wedding is done usually, but so far, it has been very painful and frustrating for us. I hear people say "destination wedding is easy as it is ALL taken care of by the hotel"... but not us. Not Sheraton Waikiki.

I understand that hotel is going through a massive renovation, wedding coordinator has changed just recently (first coordinator had left after we signed a contract with Sheraton), and it is the end of 2008 and they are not ready for 2009, but I was hoping that Sheraton would be a little more professional in many ways. Oh well... I just hope our wedding will go smoothly at this point :-(

Just so folks know, this hotel is under renovation in the lobby area.  Much needed renovation as the hotel lobby looked like something from the 70's.

The smaller pool is gone.  It will make way for a much larger pool and the main pool will eventually make way for an infinity pool.

My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki during our honeymoon. We purchased a package deal that included airfare & the hotel. We tried the same thing Monica & Chandler tried on "Friends"...told them we were on our honeymoon and asked for an upgrade. We were denied, darn it. Instead, they gave us a bottle of champagne.

The hotel is very nice and was remodeled very recently. The hotel is right on the beach in Waikiki and is right next to many, many restaurants and shops. There were sooooooo many restaurants to choose from, we didn't know where to eat. Almost everything was within walking distance. We rented a car for only 1 day, so we could drive to Kailua Beach.

If you want to stay in Waikiki, I would definitely recommend the Sheraton Waikiki.

This place is amazing. When you pull up you will be put in awe on how beautiful the hotel is. They host many wedding there. I was there for a week and there were 2 weddings. I definitely see why there would be weddings, for everything about the place is exquisite. The staff are helpful. The pool is nice. The beaches are nice. There is tons of shopping. The food is great. You can have some amazing views from your room.

This place is a must visit.

The Peet's Coffee at Sheraton Waikiki transformed my whole family into fans.  Instead of waking up to another sit-down buffet, Sheraton Waikiki had a classy cafeteria and a Peet's to allow us to go back to our private rooms to enjoy the views.

Booked solid for the holidays, I was an SPG Platinum who was double upgraded to a "partial ocean view".  The full Waikiki ocean views were all full, but those are recommended.  SPG Platinums also receive a VIP key card for 15% off select restaurants.

PROS:
- Location, location, location: One of four key hotels on Waikiki beach.  Just walking outside was a step into the modern mall strip of Waikiki
- Views: The height of Sheraton Waikiki afforded it beautiful views

CONS:
- Only 1 small swimming pool, which was closed as the luau was performed there in the evenings.  The Royal Hawaiian originally had a pool for Sheraton guests, but even that too is now under renovation.

It's nice. Good for SPG. On the 16th floor great ocean view. Right now there is construction but I'm not in my room from 8-5... if I was..ugh - why don't they tell us that stuff when we book? C'mon.... that's just annoying..

The elevators... really freaking bad... you have to make a mad dash for them in order to get in them. The buttons are in the middle area... takes a bit if you don't know. (Actually fun to get a coffee at the Peets in the hotel and watch the tourists... good times...)
Let's see what else... uhm.. lots of hotel guests getting married... like anyplace in HI...

The room... yes.. let's chat about the room. the upgraded room with the ocean view has a open bar type window in the bathroom.. (weird, unnecessary...) small room for the money.... no chair I guess we just sit on the bed or don't have guests in the room...

It's not bad but I prefer the Moana Surfrider - no surfing in the immediate beach but it's still a decent place.

Location is great if you want to be in the heart of Waikiki.  The rooms were clean and spacious, but nothing luxurious.  They are under massive construction so beware.  Having a Peet's coffee is a huge plus.  Didn't try any of their restaurants. SPG get late checkout till 4:00 which was a huge plus since we had a late flight out.

This is actually the nicest hotel we've stayed at in waikiki, thanks to a friend, but it wasn't as nice as I thought it would be.  I guess my expectations were pretty high.  As the other yelpers have mentioned, the hotel is going under some construction and it was a bit distracting.  We brought our daughter with us and we had to take the elevator to the lobby each time we had to leave the hotel and not every elevator goes to the lobby.  So we'd have to get out onto the 2nd floor and then take another elevator down to the lobby.  That was a bit annoying.  The housekeeping ladies were really nice.  I was kind of bummed that there was no microwave in the room.  And the doors of the rooms are pretty thin, so when you're in the hallway, you can pretty much here people talking inside of their rooms.  Swimming pools are nice, but the lounging area of the pool is too small and it's usually packed by 8am....so if you want a space, you'll have to get up early to go get one.

Very impressive grounds, lots of activities for vacationers and their kids, and well situated back from the street so that you don't feel like you are in the middle of Waikiki (which you are).

Unfortunately the rooms have about as much charm as a Hyatt located in the terminal of some mid-sized airport.
(To be fair, the rooms have a Much better view then those of any airport hotel I have ever seen.)

You can rationalize  the disappointing rooms by remembering that  the grounds are very nice and the rates are quite low for oceanfront Waikiki. I you have kids and don't care so much about the room this might be a pretty good choice.

We just had our wedding reception here in the Niihau Room, and overall we were extremely pleased. Our banquet manager was Lena Yi, and she made our reception an unforgettably great time!

The planning process was challenging, and at times Lena's ability to stay in contact was less than stellar (due to the 3 hour time difference from HI to CA and her busy meeting schedule), but she got the job done and the end result was spectacular.

There were a few snags with the setup, but the banquet captain quickly took action and corrected the mistakes. Afterwards, the service was impeccable. I really love being pampered, and the staff at the Sheraton Waikiki really knew how to do it. I cannot rave enough about the service, and I am a stickler for service at restaurants.

As far as the quality of the food, it was out of this world. Everything on the menu was delicious! They have such a wide selection that initially it was difficult to choose, but we were extremely happy with our final selection. We had the NY Steak, the crab and avocado appetizer, and clam chowder. YUM!

I also have to point out the gorgeous view that the Niihau Room's lanai provides. The view of the beach as the sun is setting and the tiki torches are lit is absolutely breathtaking!

If you are having an event with no more than 50 people, then you owe it to yourself to have it at the Niihau Room.

We had a great stay here in April. Spent a week total here and would do it over again. Im heading with 4 stars despite some cons because i think when finished it will be great. I'm going to list the pros and cons on this one or Ill be writing all day.

Pros:
-right on the beach, can jump from pool to beach and so forth
-excellent customer service, always saying hello can we help
-2 pools connected with waterslide!!
-peets coffee was great
-room was spacious and clean with flat screen tv
-balcony had view of city and ocean which was really nice
-located enough off of strip to avoid most of crowds

Cons
-still under construction when we stayed. It was for the shops they are putting in so no biggie but walking into your hotel to be greeted by play wood everywhere isnt too pleasant. And the construction did interrupt our pool sessions. I mean, not too much fun relaxing with the sounds of saws and hammering going on. Also, loved the construction guys whistling at the lady while on their break. Of course they cowered once she pointed to them in front of me (im ooozing machismo HAHA)
-many many Japanese tourists that RUN everywhere. I even asked security one day while passing thru that they need to inform them that running thru the lobby ways which were marble/tile with so many children and people leaving the pool was not safe. They told me they say it but the play the "no English" card. Funny, because everything in in Waikiki is in English and Japanese. It was really bad sometimes. What are they in a hurry for??? One time they crashed into the lady while we walked around a corner!! No apology, they just kept running! Haha, chalk it up to the experience.

I will never stay at this hotel again!! My boyfriend and I thought that a night in Waikiki would be a break from the norm. The night was horrific we barely slept because of all the loud party goers coming in from midnight until after 4 am. When we got out of bed we saw a bug in the bed. We killed it and did not think it looked like a bedbug. BOY were we ever wrong. Not only did I have bites from head to toe show up the next day, we unknowingly brought them back to our house. It has cost a fortune to get rid of them. If you love no sleep and bedbugs this hotel is for you!

My friends and I got hooked up with a suite on the 29th floor and it was one of the best hotels I've stayed at in Hawaii. We were supposed to get adjoining rooms, but I guess something happened and instead they gave us a suite! Everything was so nice about the suite...the beds were so comfortable and the maids even left chocolate near the beds!

Also, in the main lobby there were ukulele lessons in the mornings on a tuesdays I believe. I never had a chance to take the free lesson but it was nice knowing that those activities were available for hotel guests. The pool is okay, but I mean...there is a big and beautiful beach right next to it! You can't get any better than that! Also, in the lobby there was a lady giving out free leis! I always wanted a lei and I finally got one from the hotel!

Overall, I liked this hotel a lot and would come back anytime I come to Oahu.

Thoroughly enjoyed our recent 5 nights/ 6 days stay at the Sheraton Waikiki.  Found a great deal online for $179/night and was pleasantly surprised at check-in to find out we were upgraded to an ocean front room with view of Diamond Head and the ocean.  Wow.

Our room came with all the basic (but very important) amenities - an in-room safe, coffee maker, iron, hair dryer plus a hot water boiler (you know they cater to Asian clienteles) and a refrigerator (to store our water from Costco - see review below).  The room also had a balcony to dry out our bathing suits, not that we were ever out of them much as there are 3 pools at the hotel but no real beach front at which to lounge.

If you're going to rent a car, make sure to take advantage of their $15 self-parking rates.  Tell them at check-in so they give you a pass for in-and-out privileges.

If you're going to drink down at the Sand Bar, make sure you bring your ID otherwise they'll offer you a virgin drink.  If you forget your ID, walk to the Royal Hawaiian next door and charge it to your room.

Central Waikiki location.  There are at least 5 ABC stores within a 5 minute stroll of the hotel.  But I think that can probably be said of any location within Waikiki.  The hotel is dangerously close to all the exquisite shopping along Kalakaua Avenue.  You've been warned.

Lots of construction and a few too many inconveniences - like having the water shut off the morning before we left and 'This is only a test' fire alarms twice in five days.  The hotel is right off the water, but you need to walk a bit to get to the beach.

Room service was spotty - I would have liked more vacuuming of the room.

For those interested in a beach front location with convenient access to shopping, this is probably a good fit as the rates seemed reasonable.  I'd wait until some of the current construction completes though.

The Sheraton Waikiki is my pick when I go home to visit.  I'm too old to be crashing at mom's!  The hotel is right on the beach in the heart of Waikiki.  The Jr suites are bigger than my apartment in SF!

There are flowers everywhere you turn.  It's just beautiful!  I have great memories here and can't wait to go back.

I'm going to base my review purely on my own experience but share something that happened to my aunt and her family who were also staying here.  This hotel is great.  It is, without a doubt, a solid 4 star place and what you would expect that comes with it.  From the great shops in the lobby to helpful concierge service.  I had my room upgraded to partial ocean view and one king bed with a roll away because they ran out of rooms with two queen beds...a nice gesture and the roll away was actually quite comfortable.

Now for my aunt's experience.  She was on a lower floor and on our 2nd night there her son had a cockroach crawl on his face while he was asleep.  Incredibly gross.  When they woke up, they found 3 more.  They notified the management and it took them *THREE* days before they did anything about largely because no one believed them.  It took a housekeeper discovering cockroaches on that third day before they moved them out of the room and into a suite along with free breakfast buffets for everyone.  Again, a nice gesture but that fact that it took three days before anyone did anything about this is certainly not what I would expect from a hotel of this caliber and is certainly going to influence whether I choose to stay here in the future

The Sheraton is well situated to offer possibly the best views of the ocean. It's right on the beach, huge, and curved so many rooms have views.

The buffet inside has slightly better food than the one at Princess Ka'iulani, but you don't get a show and the ambience isn't as nice.

PRIME LOCATION:
Right on the beach.
Next to Royal Hawaiian.
TWO pools.
Fantastic ocean views from the room.
Within walking distance to the main shopping drag.
Live music at their nightclub at night.

ROOM:
Bathroom is small and horribly designed.
Loved the flat screen tv.
Cordless phone in the room.
Balcony is furnished with modern chairs and spacious.
Comfy bed and crisp sheets.
Toiletries were not snag worthy.
Small towels were thick and plush, not the bath towels.
Elevator buttons were at a center console.

WARNING:
10:30pm cut off time for room service.

As a kid, I loved this hotel more than Royal Hawaiian (supposedly 5 star).  This place has a great snack shop downstairs.  COol stores that aren't selling ceramic antique crap.  They also had an awesome breakfast buffet that I got to indulge in everyday.

Once again, my dad knew the manager here, so we got hooked up with the suite room for the price of a regular.   This suite was soo freakin big....almost too big for 3 people.  But anyways, that's probalby what made this hotel awesome.

As a kid, I also loved that this place was located RIGHT ON WAIKIKI.  That's where most of the tourist shopping was, and I loved just walking back to my hotel.   It's also fun to hang out at night in that area.  Great location, and I like that this hotel is HUGE.

I travel a lot and this is one of the best hotels I've stayed at!

Everyone is really friendly and the view from the room was breath taking! You can walk down to the lobby and then to the beach (it's kinda connected), where I spent most of my days.

It's walking distance to tons of  high end stores (like Chanel & Hermes, ahh!) and a bunch of ABC stores (if you've been to Hawaii, you know what I'm talking abou!). And there's tons of street vendors at night, so it's cool to just take a stroll in evening.

I stayed here for my every-5-years family reunion.  It turned out to be one of the best ones yet!!  We used one of the banquet rooms for the 3 day affair and we had a dinner and a brunch here.  They had a great variety of local food, but the poke just didn't cut it for me.  It's what I really miss when I'm not in Hawaii.  The baked snapper and prime rib were super good.

They just completed some room renovations and the rooms look pretty sweet!!  The ocean view rooms give a terrific view of Waikiki going out toward Diamond Head.

Just a block or two away, on Lewers St. there are a plethora of new shops, bars and places to grind.  This is quite a change from how it used to look.  Waikiki is changing, for better or for worse and is slowly losing its charm imo.  Enjoy it while it lasts folks.

*Just a note*  They kick you outta the pool at 6pm for the entertainment.

My friend stayed here and we had a chance to go up to her room before we headed out. The ocean view was great! The first thing we saw when we walked into her room was the nice view. The remodeled rooms are really nicely decorated not to mention the huge flat screen tv. You also get to see the nightly entertainment at the pool... we saw some turtles out in the water too. I will be staying here next time I visit.

When I arrived, a friend told me about the grand opening for their new swimming pool, complete with water slide.  As I walked to the lobby, I couldn't help but notice the entire left side of the hotel boarded up for construction/renovations.  Figuring that shopping was not that big a deal, I went to my room to recover from my cold.  I planned my day, starting with the Ocean Terrace breakfast buffet, before making visits to various friends.  The next morning, I walked toward the restaurant and noticed that the entire pool area was boarded up and under construction.  I turned right towards the Ocean Terrace restaurant and saw the same boards.  The only breakfast offerings were from their cafeteria/snack bar.  On a trip last May, my friend told me that the most breathtaking thing about the hotel was that first view of the water and beach when you walked past Rumfire.... sorry, all you'll see are wooden boards now.  The staff from bellman, reception desk, and housekeeping were very nice as usual.  Since I might be coming here in May for work, I later found out that the remodeling is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2010.  If you are staying here and are looking for  a sit-down breakfast, you'll need to take the guest elevator to the 30th floor and follow the signs to "Twist at Hano Hano Room"; the glass elevator in the hotel front is also under construction/remodel.  Oh, about that new swimming pool?  It seems that they've actually remodeled the former swimming pool at the neighboring Royal Hawaiian Hotel and conveniently moved their property lines.  I would pass on staying here until the work is done.
