5 reviews for Sheraton Tarrytown Hotel
I seldom stay at Sheratons and I must say that everytime that I do, I'm impressed probably I've always thought of the Sheraton to be lower than the Westin and therefore have lower than normal expectations of it.
Anyway, we checked in here late in the night after it was too late to get back to the city. (Can you believe that White Plains cabs stop picking up phone reservations after midnight, the trains don't run and NYC limo companies require 2 hours advance booking or even the faster ones take 45 mins for pick up. Bleah).
I'd say the Sheraton Tarrytown was very pleasant. I liked my room even though it wasn't on the club floor. Since this was a last min decision to stay overnight, I quickly asked for toiletries and the essentials upon checking in. I asked for a bathrobe... which was sent to me with its sleeves wet. EWE. That's the only issue I had with the hotel.
They've a club room that serves breakfast for platinum guests (or maybe just SPG guests?). Nice.
I was in town for a wedding and this was the closest Starwood Property so I booked it. Luckily I did, it was very comfortable and very nicely spaced out. I enjoyed my stay immensely. I will be back when I'm in the neighborhood again.
Pleasantly surprised by how nice this was (in terms of being a Sheraton). Stayed here during Memorial Day long weekend and had no issues whatsoever. The bed, linens, towels and bathroom fixtures all seemed really new and high quality. Also noticed they finally got rid of the crappy Pantene / Vaseline toiletries that they used to have at Sheraton's and replaced it with a Bliss-made custom brand of toiletries that smell MUCH better. For this price and quality, I would definitely stay here again if I were in the area.
We stayed overnight to get away for a short anniversary weekend. With young kids, twenty-four hours is the length of your anniversary weekend, so we chose a close destination with some easy attractions available.
Tarrytown, NY is such a destination from Essex County/ Northern Jersey. It has established historical sites, plenty to see and do, and is about a half-hour away. The route there can also be scenic and beautiful if you take the Palisades Pkwy instead of the GSP or (horror of horrors) cutting north from NYC.
The hotel is new and it is well-appointed. Check-in was fast, and the room was immaculate. The bed turned out to be wonderful; I'm not a fan of soft beds but this bed has made me re-think my preference. The LCD television was a Bravia from Sony, and it's a nice bit of subtle advertising for the brand. Picture was very good; this Sheraton had these sprinkled all over the hotel: over the gas fireplace, in the bar area, at each elevator bank on each floor. Sony got a good deal of product placement here.
We didn't dine here, opting for a place in White Plains. We did drink at and then later, near the bar at the fireplace. Prices were stupid for the area but the bar has the advantage of convenience over ambiance, fun, or pricing. My Wife's feet were hurting so convenience won out.
Would I stay here again? Certainly. The room was excellent. They installed a long wall desk, thus solving the problem of hiding the central air unit neatly. The bathroom was beautiful, although French doors wouldn't work in your home they worked here. You get the impression of having gotten much for the money, which is always a nice way to look at your bill.

I'll admit it, I'm a Marriott man. I had to stay here cause people at work booked it. But honestly, I'm impressed. Really impressed. So impressed that I might consider switching to this brand. It's really really nice.
Big ol' Sony Bravia HD flatscreen. Nice french double doors on the bathroom. Comfy bed and sheets. Really nice.
I'd love to have some proper drawers in here, but the ones they have are open. Meh.
Oh, and it would be nice if there were some utensils in the room. You know, just in case.
Still a nice place. I'll be back next week.
