4 reviews for Sheraton Richmond West Hotel
Very convenient location between downtown and Short Pump, but be forewarned about the Moose People. I guess several Lodges meet there every year, and make the place smell like a bowling alley - in fact, they installed a video bowling game in the Tower lobby. Upon check in, the staff short of apologized for them without actually dissing them - very tactful.
They had their own hospitality rooms, so the Club Lounge was mainly empty - the evening hors d'oeuvres were fairly substantial, but the siu mai were mushy. We didn't get sick - I think the chafing dish was kept at a pretty high temperature. I loved the refrigerator of beverages. Too bad we paid for the Club Level not realizing there would be no breakfast service during the weekend (half of our stay). On Monday we found it closed, so the front desk gave us vouchers for the restaurant which was much better, and the waitress there was fantastically nice.
The internet room with printer in the main lobby came in handy. I heard someone say the Tower rooms are the nicest - tricky walkway connection from the third floor to get to the lobby.
As soon as the Moose People left, an air filtration unit made it as if they'd never been there.... except for a few overlooked "No alcohol beyond this point" signs.
A qualified approval. I paid $40 + tax & fees through Priceline for a Sat. night stay. The room was worth $40, but not the rack rate of $100. It is a little old and run down for a Sheraton, but comfortable enough. There were a lot of high school kids staying at the hotel and running through the halls and making a lot of noise. The hotel complex is rather large, so you might get long walks to your room.
Wi-fi is now available (but I didn't take my lap top so I didn't test it).
Pros: Conveniently located at I-64 and Broad
Rooms are large
Bed is comfortable
Cons: Rooms are old and need remodeling
A lot of noisy kids groups staying there
Summary:
--free parking, though controlled
--internet in rooms for a fee
--convenient to I-64 at the beginning of a hotel ghetto
--decent business hotel
I stayed here one night on a Priceline stay, bidding $45, before fees, for Richmond/Richmond West End.
L-o-n-g walks to rooms from the parking lot. Room was ok, nothing remarkable. Not terrible; not great; ok for a night's stay.
Somewhat close to ethnic restaurant options, off nearby Horsepen Rd, in addition to the usual chains.
Not much to complain about considering I got this hotel for $42 + tax & fees on http://priceline.com. The bed was much more comfortable than I was expecting, and boy did I need a comfortable bed for a good night's sleep. I asked at the front desk for a close room thanks to Rich's review and my friend's recommendation, and I got a room right down the hall on the lobby level. Only negative was the lack of free Internet and the fact that it was confusing for my friend to find.
