Good location and fitness center. Clean, comfortable rooms. And usually good rates.

We stayed here while touring the mansions in Newport. It's about a half hour away across the bridge, and a little bit out of Providence proper. There's a good Bertuccis right next door.

SPG recognition took a reminder for each thing (coding keys for club access, internet, etc), but there was no push-back. Staff was friendly at all levels.

Well, it is definitely an airport hotel!

The best attribute was the shuttle driver from the airport.  He was a great old fellow, and the perfect way to be welcomed to Rhode Island.

The hotel, though, well you can call it a Sheraton, but it is not a Sheraton, it is any and every airport hotel.  The front desk person was so harried she couldn't really answer my questions.  Unfortunately, I learned that local shuttle does not go into Providence, only covers the local restaurants (disappointing).

The bathroom was small, like you'd expect from a motel.  And the toilet runs for several minutes.  A positive was the pouffe sponge included with the toiletries.

The bed *was* heavenly, and I slept about 12 hours of glorious sleep-debt sleep.   It was easy to sleep since I wasn't tempted to do any work (there is NO FREE WIFI!) It was no surprise that the airplanes flying overhead are loud. Being a Starwood member does get you a free bottle of water.

Even with my extraordinarily discounted price, I think it was too expensive (you pay for the name Sheraton), and online rates are even more outrageous.

GF got the room for cheap. I thought the room we got was okay. I have always been a fan of Sheraton's beds.

    Everything else was 'eh'.

I got this hotel from bidding on Priceline. I figured since it was a Sheraton, it'd be nice. Here is a breakdown:

    Pros
    - nice comfy bed
    - friendly staff
    - clean sheets
    - clean towels
    -close to the airport
    - free parking
    - free internet in the lobby, pool, and workout facility

    Cons
    - far walk from the lobby
    - no wifi in the room
    - tub was chipping by the drain
    - rack for the towels (one side was falling off. The screws came off)
    - bathroom didn't seem clean enough

Next time, I'll look into the hampton inn. They are usually clean and offer free wifi and continental breakfast.

Three stars for the simple reason that you get what you pay for.  My rate here was low.   This is a no-fuss property that is truly super close to PVD.

However, the property is seriously dated and the rooms (at least mine) are  nearing "yucky" and "gross".

    Staff is friendly.

    CONS:

-33.6k modem internet connection in the lobby( 4computers )

-not even free wireless internet in your room

-far from anything good. 40 min drive to newport(if not during traffic hours), 20 min to providence

-rooms are starting to wear down a bit, but still good

-depending on where your room is , can be a far walk. the back of the building parking is designated as fly and park only.

    PROS:

    -free parking

    -large lobby to relax in

    -friendly staff

-You can literally almost walk to the airport

Let me start with this.  I am SPG - Platinum and have been for 8 years.  I have stayed in countless hotels in countless countries.  I have a ton of grace.  The first two rooms they showed us were completely unacceptable for our needs.  We were three adults and had specifically reserved a suite.

The ONLY reason they are a four stars is they made it right.  The front desk staff was very gracious with each rejection and the hotel is VERY comfortable.

The renovations were thorough and very well executed (I initially thought it was a new hotel).

    We will stay here again.

The rooms are pleasant, nothing special.  The staff is excellent, very personable and accommodating.  It is nice having a pool.

My only complain is that the internet service is brutally slow.  It is like using a modem.

Granted, they were doing construction while I was there, but when I went to check in at 3 p.m., my room wasn't ready, and the restaurant and bar were closed.  When I came back, the staff were clearly annoyed and I finally got a room.

The next day, there was a storm and the whole place smelled like wet dog.  It was a good rain shower, but it wasn't a flood.  I don't think their construction plan had rain accomodations.

The pool was closed.  The lobby was closed.  You had to walk half way around the building to get in and out.

Naturally, a lot of this had to do with the construction, but also it was just really bad planning.

Don't bother with the restaurant.  It's understaffed and not exceptionally clean.

Didn't try the bar.  If you're forced here, go to the Irish pub across the street.  GREAT food.

Not happy at all, front desk clerk not in a good mood. Also ordered room service for breakfast and it never showed, just like me next time.

The front desk wasn't very friendly. It seemed like he didn't want to bother with me, and did the check in rather fast.  He asked if I needed two key cards, and I told him yes, but he only gave me one; I had to ask him for the second one after I checked in the little envelope.  He then gave some lame excuse about how the machine was broken, but then it was magically fixed the moment I asked him for the second card.  The room was of good size and clean. The guest rooms were located on the first floor, had to take the elevator down a level, the stairway was a bit creepy. Had breakfast at the restaurant, there was only one server/host.  The food was decent.  Easy check out in the room.

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend as we were attending a wedding at the Aldrich Mansion.  It was easy to locate and close to last minute shopping.  The desk staff was super friendly and gave us the discounted rate even though we didn't get into the reserved room block.  They always greeted us with a smile when we came and left.  The hotel has a well stocked sundries room.  The rooms have Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea, which really got me.  There's also a recycle bin which I thought was super useful because I appreciate recycling. The mattresses were very comfortable and easy to sleep on.  The rooms and the entire hotel were super clean and newly refurbished.  The entire hotel has been recently remodeled.  Plenty of computers are available in the lobby for guest use.  We could not figure out how to hook up to the wireless, but there is an ethernet cable available.  We did not bother to ask the staff.  We did not use the gym, pool, or restaurant.  There was plenty of free parking.  We have been traveling a lot recently and have found this has been the best 3 star hotel we have stayed-in in a while.  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and mostly appreciated the friendly staff!
