45 reviews for Sheraton Princess Kaiulani
If you get a room on a higher floor with an ocean view, you'll have a great experience at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani - the furniture is nicer and the view is spectacular! But if you get a room on a lower floor with the "other" view, it will feel like any other Waikiki hotel, not so nice furniture, sterile feeling (we stayed on a lower floor but we could smell cigarette smoke thus we requested a room change and got a higher room with the better view). Every other floor is a smoking floor so the likelihood that you would breathe in second hand smoke is pretty high...
But we loved the location so close to the ocean and so close to the International Marketplace and all the shops, restaurants and coffee shops. And I loved all of the Hawaiian cultural activities they have at the hotel: hula lessons, Hawaiian quilting by cute older Hawaiian ladies, local arts and crafts sales. And their breakfast and dinner buffets looked pretty decent (we didn't get around to trying it).
They have free internet stations you can use in the lobby area but for 15 minutes at a time, and a lot of the websites (Facebook) are blocked for security reasons.
Decent stay, but I'm not sure I would give a stellar recommendation to anyone to stay here.
~$110/night
What a disappointment. We got put into a room that was so outdated! The bathroom tile looked decades old, there was mold on the walls, the furnishings looked like something out of the sale section at walmart, the TV was tiny and it looked as if they painted over the mold on the air conditioner as there were little bumps under the paint! The only saving grace was me making a complaint to management about how dispicable the room was. We got bumped up to the Tower and had a partial ocean view.
Worst, internet charges start off at 14 bucks for slow service and goes up to 25 a day for higher speed! WTF!
All I needed was the sweet sleeper bed and the hot water shower. The location and the view was so spectacular. We were upgraded to a room on the 20th floor with the lanai facing Waikiki Beach. It was so beautiful. I'm assuming the rooms were recently "updated" meaning they have new televisions. The furniture is a bit oversized for the room but who cares. Again, the location trumps everything.
They had adequate staffing for check in on a busy Saturday afternoon, and plenty of agents available for a painless checkout. They provide moped parking for $5 a day per scooter, which is the going rate at most of the hotels. The parking garage was easy to access and it wasn't very busy at all and there was no danger of getting run over like when you come out of the Outrigger hotel!
We didn't try any of the food but the buffet looked spectacular and smelled just as awesome. There was always something going on out on the patio. I think one night they had live music and a show, and the people who were out there seemed generally pleased.
I would definitely stay here again, but not before trying the Moana Surfrider!!
edit:
p.s. We definitely saw prostitutes but strangely NONE near the Sheraton as many reviewers have noted below. The ones we saw were all outside of the "adult live entertainment" stores lol creepy
I love this place!!! been here back in 2004, and loved it. right in the middle of the tourism scene, and has a little market, kind of like a flea market next door, and the beach is across the street. want to come back soon, but with the economy effecting my expenses, and so on maybe in a few months. great hotel especially if your wanting to just hang out at the beach, but most of all this is a great location for tourism, scheduling events, just go right outside and there are the shopping stuffs. during the night they have entertainment at the poolside and dinners. YAY, for the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani!!
I arrived late Friday night to HNL, picked up my rental car, and headed to the hotel. I didn't check in until 11pm because I spent almost an hour hunting for parking. There was no way I was going to pay $20 for parking there. So I tried the Banyan down the street but the lot was completely full. Fortunately, I got really lucky and spotted someone pulling out of a space (located not too far from the hotel) along the Ala Wai Canal.
I walked over to the hotel with all my stuff - it was a bit of a hike, but worth it for not having to pay $20. The lobby area and pool are probably the nicest things about this hotel. The surrounding area is pretty sleazy and trashy. It's right next to the Intl Marketplace, and there were tons of people out. My friend says it's like the Las Vegas Strip out there. There were a good number of cops patrolling the area, so I did feel somewhat safe. I saw quite a few drunk military guys around. Additionally, there were quite a few streetwalkers roaming the sidewalks and corners. They all wear glass-looking heels... so obvious. There were probably like 5-6 of them on the same block the hotel is on. Guess the cops won't do anything unless they see a deal for a date going down.
Anyway, I was checking in and ended up waiting there for 20 mins, dripping sweat the whole time, for the clerk to sort out my arrangements. At first he was going to give me a smoking room but I requested non-smoking. For some reason he had to go to the back and I was waiting there for almost 10 minutes before he came back out with my room number and keys.
On a side note, I had a small package shipped there via USPS Priority. The bell hopper was utterly useless as he could not find the package, even though I had email delivery confirmation. Absolutely no effort to check anywhere else besides the mail room even though I asked several times for him to check anywhere else. He just shrugged as if he had no clue. Ugh... later, I went back to the same clerk who checked me in and he checked the back office and came back out with the package. phew...
lesson: if you ship anything, make sure you do it well in advance and call to confirm the package is there. For me, this was a bit last minute, so kinda out of my control.
Anyway, got to my room in the Kaiulani Tower and put my stuff away. Was lucky enough to get such a great scenic view of other condo buildings and some parking structures... :P
The room seemed to look a bit older and run down. Especially the AC unit. But the room was pretty cool, and I slept fairly well. Not super dirty, but not super clean either. But I'm a guy, so I guess my standards might be pretty low. I'd say the bathroom was at the same standards. Otherwise, it was pretty quiet there.
I don't think I'll be staying here again. Or anywhere else in downtown Waikiki for that matter. It's just too crazy at night.
I'm glad I was only here for the night.
Just had a small hotel stay. We had the deluxe ocean view and ended up on the 14th floor. The view was GORGEOUS. Rooms were tinier than I would've liked but well kept. Extremely comfortable beds and pillows, coffee maker, complimentary soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. There's a minifridge in the closet as well as a safe (pay per use). There was also an HDTV in the room with several decent channels.
I liked the location. It's right in the center of Waikiki, so you don't have to get a car to go anywhere. The beach is across the street and the International Market Place is right downstairs. Parking is a bitch though, $20? No way. Find street parking.
I love this hotel! I'm definitely not pick about hotels when I'm on vacation because who spends that much time there anyway? This place is perfect as far as I'm concerned. VERY friendly staff, I didn't meet a single rude person the whole 6 days I was there. Everyone is pleasant and ready to say "Aloha!" as well as cater to anything you need.
The rooms aren't extremely modern or fancy, but they're clean and they serve their purpose. The beds are so comfortable, too! It's in an absolutely perfect location, too. That's the biggest positive thing about this place. It's less than a block from both the International Market Place and Waikiki beach. You can also walk to most restaurants and grocery stores in Waikiki. There is free entertainment by the pool every night at 6:30 and they often have shows that you can pay to see, like Creation and comedy shows. The Splash bar by the pool has a good happy hour and tasty food, too. At night the tables have a one drink minimum and the pool closes at 7. There is no jacuzzi.
It's a cheap hotel, but what you get for the price is fantastic. The lobby smells like Hawaii because there are orchids everywhere, it's great. They charge $20/day for parking and for internet, but there is a 15 minute computer for guests in the lobby. One drawback - the parking structure is 4 floors and there are no elevators. Overall I loved this hotel and would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Although not the most up-to-date and modern hotel, as the rooms were on the older side, the bathroom was flooded with bright florescent lighting, they had CRT t.v.'s, and small bathrooms; however, it did serve it's purpose.
It was conveniently located near the beach and all the shops; right across the street was an ABC store, KFC, subway, the bus stop was maybe 30 steps away, the beach was right across the street. We experienced great customer service every time we needed information at the front desk and when we called for towels and coffee service.
I'd say the Sheraton Princess is a good if you don't care for a fancy hotel and want an affordable find.
Overall better than I thought it would be. The bedrooms aren't as old fashioned as people say, however they are small. The bed was really comfortable and we had beautiful white sheets (my favorite!). Their sheets were ugly in the pleasant holidays Catelogue so that's all that I was worried about. Microwaves are only available upon rental.
AWESOME location. Cross the street to get to the beach. Right in the middle of all the shops. Don't need a car, 95% of the activities in Oahu include transportation!!
I like this place solely based on location. Here is my trick kids..... stay one night at the Moana Surfrider across the street. Be super friendly/obnoxiously so.... use all of the facilities.. say hello to everyone. For the rest of your trip, stay across the street (for either 1/2 the amount of Starwood points or 1/2 the cost of the room). Continue to go to Moana Surfrider. :)
When you book a room here, ask for a room that overlooks the water if possible. It might be a bit noisy but you will have a great view. The rooms aren't great - but if you have a great view... who cares? Unless you are sick... I hope you aren't spending too much time in your room. (yeah, you can get romantic all sorts of places in Hawaii. :)
I laughed when I read Herb C's review. Uhm... yeah... he's a bit upset because the hotel doesn't do anything about the birds pooping? Really what would you suggest they do? Shoot them? Silly comment, really! I've stayed at 80% of the hotels in Waikiki - birds poop no matter where you go. Should they have signs like "don't feed the birds or something like that? Sure. But Sheraton does offer umbrellas so if a little bird poop makes you freak out.... by all means sit under an umbrella. (or go in the pool :)
We booked this place for $110/night. At this price I feel this place is a steal. The rooms are a little old but good sized and clean. The lanai is pretty big and each room now has a LCD TV.
Parking is $20 per night, but its very easy and you can go in and out of the hotel as many times per day as you want and its very easy and quick as there is no valet. You just park and go to your room or car.
The strange this about the parking is that there really isn
t good access to the hotel. However if you park on the fifth floor there is a door on the side that had an elevator. However, this door was locked after 6pm each night.
To me, the location is perfect. Its right across the street from the Waikiki beach...although this beach is pretty lame anyways. And its about 100 feet from the international market.
Since our wedding was at the Moana Surfrider this hotel was a great place to have the parent's, and other guest stay at for a cheap rate. It is right across the street so on wedding day the parents and most of the groomsmen got dressed in their room and just walked across the street. Especially since the place is a SPG hotel i get more points.
The rooms themselves are still stuck in the 80s but if you went out on the Balcony we could see the ocean and the mountains. I slept pretty well, and as long as you keep your window/door closed its quiet.
The only thing that got me was that since the place is sorta cheap, A LOT of people stay there, meaning tour groups stay there. That also means that the elevators can get cramped, or have a waiting list.
Didn't stay the night here, but had the dinner buffet. Pretty good. Wish the crab legs weren't over-cooked. Good live Hawaiian music.
We stayed here during the first week of February and found it to be an overall pleasant experience, with a convenient location-- across the street from the beach.
I was ready to stay at the Westin across the street, when we found an obscenely low rate online for the PK. Our first room in the renovated tower (this was 1999, mind you, so still worn around the edges) was sort of a disaster-- with the neighbors chatting it up all night and the giant bug that ruined my morning trip to the bathroom. But once we registered our complaint with the front desk, we were upgraded to a suite in the older tower. The suite would have been swanky-- in the early 1980s, that is. But with a bigger bathroom and wrap around lanai, I was pretty happy.
Would we stay here again? Maybe... If we got the same rate (just under $100). Otherwise, I'd rather pay more for a newer hotel.
Pros:
Across the street from the beach
Friendly service
Great towel service by the pool
Good upgrades
Low, low rates
Lanais for every room
Suites are large
The evening show is quite charming
Cons:
Some rooms can be noisy
The "updated" tower was last renovated in 1999-- so the whole place is worn
Too many people stay here, so there's tons of foot traffic in the lobby area
Waikiki is pretty gross in general
You pay $20 a day for self-parking across the street
I really wanted to like you Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. The location is the best part of the hotel. Situated right around the middle of the strip and surrounded by ABC stores, the Sheraton has got to be one of the hotels in dire need of a renovation.
The breakfast buffet is located outside on the pool deck right off of the lobby but be careful, there are birds and they have no qualms about pooping. Yes, the hotel does supply umbrellas to sit under, but they don't do anything about the birds flying around.
I would try the Sheraton Waikiki or the Westin the next time I'm in Waikiki.
I like this place because it's simple. It's a very affordable simple hotel if you are going to be outdoors most of the trip. House Keeping comes on time, and you're in the center of all attractions. What's cool is they have entertainment every evening, and the female vocalist are amazing! Again, it's extremely cheap, and simple. If you're on the go...you probably wouldn't complain.
This was my home for 8 days, and let me say.... It is a sheraton, but it's rooms don't scream sheraton, it's more like a motel 6 room. These rooms need a lot of work... NEEDS RENOVATION A.S.A.P especially since it has such prime location. The service was great, the beds were comfortable, the location of the hotel was so convenient, and they have complimentary use of computers for a time limit of 15 minutes.
The only reason this hotel would stop me from staying here again is the not room, but the damn elevators...The elevators at the ainahau tower is a major problem, and very annoying. The wait for an elevator would sometimes take 10 mins if not longer sometimes during the peak hours. The elevators were always full, there are only 4 elevators available.
Like all the other reviewers said, the best thing about the Sheraton PK is the location. The rooms were pretty average, but I wasn't expecting much anyway. Since we arrived late, we were able to get an upgrade to the SPG floor. We had a nice view of the ocean to our left and of the hills to our right. My favorite thing about PK was the demonstrations (read: free food) they would set up in the lobby - one day it was fresh pineapples and the next day it was sushi (tuna and cucumber). I thought that was a nice touch.
Overall, the service was pretty good. The guys at the bell desk were a bunch of sweethearts - I got up waaaay too early one day to go snorkeling and was so out of it I was literally walking in circles in front of the hotel. One of the guys helped me find the right van and another went to get towels for me to take with me. Another time, I had to get my luggage across the street to another hotel and left my luggage with them. The guys over at the other place were supposed to pick up my stuff but were being lazy and the PK guys brought it over themselves. Totally went out of their way. I wish I could've thanked them in person but I was already on the beach. ;)
So all in all, I definitely got what I paid for, with good service to boot. If you're looking to vacation on a budget, you can't go wrong with this hotel.
I stayed here on my first trip to oahu... my second trip i rented a condo. I must say that i liked the overall feeling of staying in a hotel better. i understand that this place isnt a resort or a five star hotel. but considering its location and ammenities. It is well worth staying here. Yes the rooms are a little old fashion but who really stays in their room on vacation anyways. Im just there to lay my head and shower and of course have some drinks... They have a live band in the evenings and kareokee which is very fun and memorable. The staff was great! I went to costco before i went to my hotel so i had stocked up on supplies like achohol and water... The bell hop was very helpful and even recomended local spots to checkout. Like i said the location is perfect. In the middle of everything, street performers litter the front of the hotel and it is walking distance to all the shopping and nighlife...Just walk accross the street and you are at waikiki beach! what else can you ask for.
Aloha:
Just go for the buffet. The freshly bbq items are HOT= PUN= DA BESS.
I bella go fine out if they even still have dinner buffet!
a hui hou
P.S.- O, an live entertainment, fa wen go early for cocktails by poolside B4 grind. " " -EVEN, a show during dinner!! da Kine.
BTW: It's their 100th Anniversary and they really putting out their best! I was there twice last week, and Friday was the best:(ever)= The snack sized LOBSTER night, made good appetizers before the main Hawine style bbq and teriyaki chickeng -n- KaLua pig cabbage & LomiLomi tomato!! The only thing missing was the macaroni salad (or didda walk right past it??)
Dessert Island? Haupia taro layered tart, lemon curd tart. . .
Blue Hawaii!
a hui hou.
Of all the Sheraton Hotels in Waikiki, this is my least favorite. I have stayed here three times in hoping that it would improve...need-less-to-say, it has not.
BREAKING NEWS...The Shearton Princess Kaiulani (or PK as we in Hawaii know it to be) is going to be renovated entirely. Actually, two of the three wings are going to be torn down, : ), and will be replaced by a Shearton Timeshare. It is still quite a few years away. The main building, the tall tower, will be renovated and remain as the hotel. Yea!
Now, for those of you planning to stay here, don't let the Shearton name fool you. It is a large hotel and the staff are nice, but if you are looking for a nice place to lay your head, try one of the other properties.
HINT: The fist lady of Waikiki...The Moana Surf-Rider. It is right across the street and it was built in 1901.
Oh, as for the amenities, yes, it does have plenty but so does all the other hotels. They do have a nice Japanese Restaurant though.
The first time I stayed there, they gave me a room over-looking the pool. It was okay but the room was nothing more than a Motel-6 type room. Imagine a Motel-6 resort...that is what you have here. They do not have the standard Sheraton beds.
The second time I stayed here, I was upgraded to a suite and it was something out of the seventies. The only good thing was the bed, they brought a Westin bed into the room. The last time was only a few months ago. They put me on a top floor over-loking the Moana Hotel. What can I say, I just looked out my window and wished I had choose the Moana instead.
Oh well, I might try it out when the totally renovate the place. Looks like it will be quite a few years from now.
One good thing I have to say about the place, they do have live music seven nights a week and pretty decent Mai Tai's. Oh, and they give you those spicy chips for free. Yummy!
I included a photo of the best part about my room, the view of the Moana!
This was the cheapest Sheraton in Waikiki, and I was a little wary after reading the reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The location is amazing, *almost* on Kalakaua, and just around the corner from the International Marketplace. The lobby is really nice, and the front desk upgraded us without even asking. We had a "partial ocean view" on the 5th floor. It faced the pool, with an adequate balcony. The room and bathroom were on the small side. Definitely not a posh hotel, but for the price/location, I'd stay here again. Besides, who stays in their room when you can recover from one-too-many Mai Tai's on the beach instead?!
Parking garage is convenient, though with a $20/day price and NO elevator, it could use more spaces.
Free internet in the lobby was also a plus. And thank you ABC store (directly across the street and at every corner) for all that you do!!
Stayed here during 1/09 ok this is not the Sheraton ,Sheraton so i can't expect everything to be luxury or 5 star service. I got a really good room located on the 24th floor it's a corner room so I got a really good view of the ocean. Every morning i just open the shades and look at the blue ocean from my bed feels like heaven already. There'a a flat screen TV, mimi fridge, and a big balcony. The bed/pillow is very comfortable the sheets no!!!! Tried the breakfast buffet all I can say is "No" all the food was bland and the birds come to your table and pick on your food. The locatation is very good maybe 2-3 minute way to the beach. The hotel lets u borrow their towels to the beach so that's good. Services is good here all the staffs are friendly.
So we were here for our honeymoon, and the Princess Kaiulani was the cheapest Starwood Hotel I could find. I had an offer for one night free when you pay for one night, so it was incredibly inexpensive and right in the middle of everything.
When we checked in, they upgraded us to an oceanview room on the 19th floor. The view was AMAZING. And they later sent up a bottle of champagne for our honeymoon. Nice touch.
The little balcony was nice and the room was small but comfortable. The location was perfect for our little getaway. We'd return, especially if I found a rate like that again!
the rooms:
nice, modern, & clean.and on the beach. what can i say. we didnt stay in the hotel alot. we were in HAWAII! we were exploring most of the time. plus my sister and her girl got married there. soo.. it was a crazy 4 days.
the wedding:
ceremony was BEAUTIFUL only thing that kinda sucked was all the fcukin tourists watching the wedding. its like "HELLO never seen a gay couple before?! cmon keep movin."
from what i remember (and i say that because i got shit faced) the food was pretty tasty. i know i scarfed the appetizers down.
People have left some pretty bad reviews for this place. . but honestly, its not that bad--- trust me --i've stayed at really bad/budget/gross hotels in waikiki, and the Sheraton Kaiulani was far from being a dump.
The staff at the front desk were VERY accommodating. I especially like that there is always a supply of fresh plumeria picks for your hair in the lobby.
I stayed in the tall tower. . . the view was fabulous, and the balcony was adequate. The room was very basic, and not that big, but the bed linens and pillows were quite comfy! My only complaint about the room was the bathroom. It smelled kinda musty. . . you know, like wet stinky towels musty.
My boyfriend and I late on a sunday night, but we had to check out at 11am. We thought it was cool that they offered a "shower" room for one hour to freshen up in after a day at the beach, and before we left for the airport. The room was basically a hotel room with no bed--it had two couches and a tv, and stacks of clean towels for recently checked out guests. It was great not having to go to the airport all sea-salty and sandy.
Overall, the place is decent. Its definitely not luxury, but you're supposed to be there for the beaches!
I stayed here a year ago for 5 days....
I will never get those days back.
I'm a Starwood Platinum Member and they gave me a room with a view of... a wall.
They have a buffet that's set up all day long so it REEKS in the lobby....
the beds have a wicker-like head board, which i sliced my hand open on... went to their doctors on call and they gave me a script for something they said was a mild pain killer, since i rejected stitches. Well, I had a drink while taking a pill and nearly passed out on the table in the restaurant.
The only good think was that the hotel's manager was hot.
This year I stayed at the Moana Surfrider. So MUCH better.
Being a Starwood Platinum member, I was hoping to get the Sheraton-Waikiki but unfortunately it was all sold out so I got a great rate of $140 a night at the Sheraton Princess. Typically, I'm very particular about my hotels because I travel so often for business and well I can tell you that you get what you pay for at the Princess. Obviously not built for the working professional, there is no internet access within any of the hotel rooms, although they have wireless on the lobby floor for a daily or weekly fee (approximately $10 a day) and they have 4 free work stations you can check your email downstairs as well.
I was upgraded to the best room available at the time with an ocean view and the view is actually quite decent. However, the room itself could be easily mistaken for a high end Motel 6. (Sorry Motel 6 I have no love for you). The room houses an incredible 15" tube television and space-age 1980s furniture to go along with the thinnest/oldest comfortable that would make any germ freak...well, freak. Around the lobby/pool area they have constant live entertainment until 11PM.
Bottom line is that if you're looking for an extravagant experience, this isn't it. However, for families on a budget and those who aren't concerned with staying indoors all day, this place is at best coined as "economical." Also, don't think there's a valet for your car because the service isn't just offered. Instead you self-park and may have to walk through a narrow alley way to the lobby. Definitely not glamorous, although they did provide me slippers when I asked for them, that's platinum service with a smile. ;)
This hotel was really not at all what I was expecting. Yes, the hotel lobby looks like it does in the pictures on Expedia, but that's about it. This is the only Sheraton hotel in Waikiki that isn't being renovated, and I kinda wish it were. It needs help!
There were upsides though. It's in a great location, and I mean great! You are across the street from the beach, you've got ABC stores all around you. 2 Starbucks within a short 5 minute walk, and tons of cheap eateries off of Kalakaua Ave.
The rooms were very small and they two bed rooms have double beds, not queens. So don't expect to fit 4 people comfortably, unless you're all related. We did have a great view on a high floor, so that made up for the cramped space.
The $19.95 breakfast buffet was a bit limited, but convenient on our way out for a long drive around the island. We fueled up and didn't have to eat until dinner. The highlight was the fresh fruit buffet they kept refilling. I must have eaten an entire pineapple for breakfast. Yum!
The one big downside is self-parking: $20 a day! The garage sucked, and didn't have an elevator.
All in all, it wasn't that great, but for the price (almost 70% off normal rates), you won't get a better deal. If they're still having the 70% off deal, go for it!
I can't count how many times my family has come to the Ka'iulani's buffet for whatever occasion... I think I memorized it already...
Hotel lobby is decent. Dining area is pretty nice. It's located behind that weird food court (I always thought it was weird because I've only been inside once during my whole life in Hawaii, so I don't know anything about it).
I'm not too impressed with the decor after you leave the pool area. Seems a bit dated.
Great location in Waikiki and overall solid place to stay. The rooms are a little old and it gets noisy at night b/c it's so close to all the action, but we were able to walk to the beach in just minutes. Also, they have Bliss Spa products for their toiletries! Who can object to that :)
We stayed here for our trip. Have to say that I disagree about the previous poster about the facilities. Our room was clean and nice (and I'm anal so I know what I'm talking about!). Staff was friendly. If you're a history buff, there's a free tour of the hotel in the afternoons where you can find out more about Princess K and the HI royalty (after all, this spot used to be her home). Hotel is situated where all the action is (you can actually walk down to the beach from there).
We had the breakfast buffet here and I'd have to say that it was excellent. No complaints here.
Momoyama (the japanese restaurant downstairs) is also very good!
This isn't a fancy hotel but it's servicable and we'd consider it again!
Its a great location and offers value compared to the other big hotels on the strip. The service is great too but the rooms are just so-so. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel on Kalakawa that is basically on the beach, the PK is the one for you.
The rooms are fine and the restaurant is fine. Last time we stayed there they had construction going on but were very thoughtful and friendly about it all. I would go back if I were presented the opportunity.
Whatever you do, do not go to the "luau" at this hotel.
First of all, it is not even a real luau. It is Creation - A Polynesian Journey . Basically it is a show.
It is in a showroom - it isn't even outside. No pig, no ocean, no hawaiian food. Pretty much all they have at the small buffet is asian food.
The other bad point is that the other tourists are really rude at this show.
Believe me - stay away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Total waste of money.
A decent place to stay considering the price and location (across the street from the beach). The rooms are clean and comfortable, but feel a little old and bathrooms are very small. Some rooms don't have any internet access (there are public computers in the lobby), which was a little annoying. The lobby/lounge/pool area was okay for hanging out, but a better bet is to walk across the street to the Moana Surfrider and sit on the veranda there (much much nicer).
Service was very friendly and helpful, especially with suggestions of where to eat nearby.
Of all the Sheraton establishments on Waikiki, this one is the worst. It's an old hotel that they haven't done much remodelling to, so it's very 70's. The room is quite small, and the bathroom is really grimey. The toilets are like the ones in public beach restrooms! Unless you get a room that faces out towards the beach, you won't get a good view. The staff is friendly, but make sure you put the "Do Not Disturb" sign outside your door (we didn't have one in our room and had to get one) because housekeeping comes before 8am. So if you've been out all night, this can be really annoying. The location is the best part of this place. Even though it isn't beachfront, it's just across the street, and in the middle of the main strip. You can definitely find another hotel in Waikiki for the same price or lower that is a lot nicer.
Its not bad I mean the decor in the room could use an uplift but its not that bad. Although I was expecting something a lot more cooler as well. I lived. And we had an amazing view of Waikiki at night.
Situated in the heart of shopping mecca in Waikiki and about 1/2 block from the beach. Not a bad place and a reasonable rate. Could've stayed in a ritzier place across the street for twice as much $ but I was not going to spend my vacation in the hotel. A friendly staff, standard accommodations, air conditioned, and nice tolietries with the usual, plus a dental kit! The bed though was a bit hard and pillows way too soft. Not a great view. I over-looked the well-lighted parking garage but I guess when the price is good, the view isn't. Small pool but lot's of live Hawaiian music and nightly entertainment around was fun. Didn't eat at the hotel, so don't know what the buffet or meals were like. Nice staff that remembers your name even with all the other tourists frolicking about. Centralized location is walking distance from everything. On my next visit to Waikiki, I will stay again.
So... I love this place, partly maybe because it was my first time being in Hawaii, but this is a great hotel.
Here is the thing people, when you are nice and courteous to the staff of a hotel, they are in return will be more than willing to help and accommodate you and in the instance when they can not it is either because you are rude or because they really can't do anything about it. Got upgraded here, high up and ocean view, thanks.
Room is always clean and stocked up towels, amenities, etc.... Also remember to tip your hotel room attendant, tip them well, they got to pick up your dirty towels, make your bed, they clean your shizz basically, tip em well and write a thank you note, they'll appreciate it and you will too.
Concierge could not have been more helpful, sharing local good eats and ways to get around things. Again, tip this people, they are here to help, yes, let's show your appreciation. TRUST!
Location, a wonderful location.
Note to newbies: so you are in Hawaii and most of the hotel workers are Asian decent and they might have a bit of an accent but please people stop embarrassing yourself, YEEAAZZZ YOUUU DOUUU NAOT HEAAAAFFF TOUUUU SEPEEAAAK SELAOOWLEEEEE AAAANNDD LAAAUUUDDDLEEE TOUUU DEEMMM.
So having said that, yes, the hotel is older and when you pass the buffet area in the lobby it smells funky, but when you are in Hawaii you don't spend the time all day in your room, clean bed, clean bathroom, and good view is good. Also you don't really spend time in their lobby because they have a wonderful open air lounging area, there problem solved.
BTW, a great wonderful courtesy room. So if you're a guest and have checked out for the day but you still have some time and decided to surf/swim in the ocean, then you can come back later and request the room for you to shower and get ready before you have to get on the plane to get back to mainland.
