3 reviews for Sheraton Needham Hotel
THE FIRST REVIEW IS DEAD ON ACCURATE. This place is a dump with Sheraton accents.
I'm writing this review a week into a 2 week long stay at the hotel. As stated above, THERE ARE COCKROACHES ON THE 4th FLOOR; I CAN PERSONALLY ATTEST TO THIS.
All has been grand for 6 days and 5 nights until I saw a nice cockroach scurry out of the thick fabric blinds. Dismayed, I called guest services and reported my uninvited guest; the hotel denied knowledge of any roaches (Of course) but quickly offered to move me up to the hotel's premier 5th floor executive suites.
After accepting the offer, my impressions of the executive suite are no better than my 4th floor room. The 4th floor room is actually bigger, however my bed is now a king vice the 2 queens I had. The ES has a telephone in the sh!tter with a marble sink and a couple of additional vanity items (Magnification mirror, etc). The ES room I'm in is plagued by a noisey A/C unit, noise from the poorly maintained hydraulic elevators, and fan noise from atop the Trophy's diner below.
The drivers here are absoultely nuts and live up fully to their reputation of MA$$HOLES. If the winter doesn't kill you, the drivers of MA surely might. Pure idiots. I guess you can't expect much more from a liberal state, this COULD be a good state, so far, hardly impressed. I would rather put up with CA's BK problems and wildfires than deal with MA liberals who can't drive a straight line.
Back to my review, the bug incident has made me dream of leaving this place. No more room service for me, I'm sure their are lots of roaches in the kitchen if they are on the 4th damn floor of this place.
The specific cockroach I saw looked to be a "German Brown" and they are notorious for absolute infestations. Sadly, many times the scuzz who stay at these hotels bring these critters in, nonetheless, the hotel needs to rid the place of pests, I won't be back, that's for sure.
Lastly, when I was givin my key cards for the fifth floor, I couldn't get the antiquated crap hydraulic elevator card reader to accept the cards I was given. I had to get the cards reactivated and took the stairs instead. One desk person was a total ass and I will be reporting this person. Most of the staff are pleasant and glad to help.
Choose elsewhere if staying in Needham, there are nicer places. Bottom line, you get what you pay for, pick a nicer place and you're chance encounters with insects usually goes down, but not always ;-).
By the way, despite the wonderful rich history of the East Coast, it's pure crap compared to the West Coast. No wonder Mitt Romney bought a house in CA and sold his houses in MA and other parts of the East Coast.
PS, I got a good whiff of pot passing by one of the rooms, obviously no one said a word, hopefully this gives you an idea of the type that stays here. Parking is a joke and room service pricing here is insane, Ice Cream will set you back $9.
Stay off the freeways of MA, bunch of nuts, screw the toll booths too! State Chawge!!! A dollar twenty five Pa!!! No more toll booth Willie's for me.
Try the chowdah though, delicious.
I booked a room at this hotel after many hours of Internet research that was basically a waste of time. I would have been better off picking a random hotel or motel in the general vicinity of the wedding I was attending.
This has nothing to do with the hotel--maybe it does--but what's with driving in Massachusetts? I've seen bad drivers, but the ones from the Bay State are complete idiots. They pass on the shoulder even when there's no traffic, and they basically almost get into an accident every few miles. It perfectly fits the wonderful impression I have of Red Sox fans, so at least they're consistently jerks.
Why am I bringing up driving? Well, the roads in the Boston suburbs are randomly and frustratingly curvy for no reason, and this hotel's remote mountaintop location epitomizes this idiocy.
Wanna build a new hotel? Why not put it at the top of a hill and make the approach roads so confusing that most people would miss it at night? And this was only the beginning of our ordeal.
When we arrived, they asked me whether I preferred a king-size bed or two full beds. Two weeks previously, I had reserved two beds, so I chose them, but the manager said the only room with two beds available (at around four p.m.) was a wheelchair-accessible one. We settled on that because we were tired.
The room itself was OK at first. It seemed clean, but there was no refrigerator, and the air conditioning didn't work terribly well. The wheelchair-accessible shower was fine except that the floor was slanted so that all the water flowed towards and pooled beneath the toilet. One of the friends I was staying with also saw a cockroach in the bathroom.
Yes, a little COCKROACH in the bathroom.
When you're paying around $130 a night to stay in a surburban Boston hotel, you figure they won't have cockroaches on the fourth floor.
Anyway, it was an annoying experience overall. We needed to iron clothes, and there was an iron and ironing board in the room, but the ironing board's top was so wrinkled that it was difficult to do a good job. Oh, and one of the electrical outlets didn't work.
So avoid this hotel. Or avoid room 447.
Oh, and they charged us $8 a day for parking even though that wasn't clear when I booked the room. They charge this whether you park your car or not--there are no passes or decals or whatever. And the parking structure is down the hill from the hotel, so you still have to walk up stairs. Great planning, guys.
i had an absolutely enjoyable stay at this hotel. its extremely clean, friendly, and the beds are out of this freakin world. like marshmallows you get to lay on! stay on the executive floor and you get to have a tremendous continental breakfast that consists of a "make youre own omelet" bar, pastries, breads, fruits, juices and coffee. the dining area is really comfortable with cushy leather chairs, a large tv, and intimate tables that are continuously bussed by staff. the hotel was just extremely comfortable and hassle free. i recommend it highly.
