31 reviews for Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa
Things I loved about The Sheration:
1) Being on Ka'anapali Beach right on Black Rock.
2) A warm, friendly (mostly) staff
3) Comfortable rooms with great views
4) Poolside bar with televisions
5) Lei making and snorkeling lessons *Gratis*
6) Shuttle service to The Maui Cannery and Lahaina *Gratis*
7) Beach walk access to all of the resorts along the strip as well as Whalers' Village.
8) Waterfall pool with slide (maybe it was for the kids, but I loved it too)
The Sheraton is at the end of the strip with The Hyatt being on the other end and there are lots of things to see and do in between along the Beach Walk. It's a grand size property with good service. Aloha!
Love love love this place - my favorite place to stay in Maui - well so far anyhow!
The property is huge - I mean HUGE! Filed with lush greenery, and palm trees. The view is incredible - words can't describe it. Swimming pool is awesome and includes a waterfall.
The rooms are beautiful, nice linens, towels are plentaful, and the beds are comfy. Many rooms have a balcony, or patio and I don't think there is one bad view.
The sunsets are magical, you can watch the hawaiian hunk dive off a cliff into the water every night - think this is a ritual for the gods or something like that. Or he could just like putting on a show for everyone.
Access to the beach is plentiful, the restaurant is always stocked with delicious food for any palate. Fruits galore, carving stations, custom ordered egg dishes.
Can't wait to return!

Wow what a hotel, gorgeous views, pool is great, the bar and restaurants are wonderful. The walk to… Read more »
Holy. Moly. This place is HUGE!!!!!!!!! We arrived around 2pm (check in is at 3) and our room wasn't ready yet. The clerk at the front desk asked if we'd prefer a king side garden view room, or a double ocean front. We decided to take the ocean front. Since our room wasn't ready, they gave us 2 drink passes and 40% off coupon for one of their restaurants. We sat by the GORGEOUS pool and had some chicken nachos & Mai Tais.
We head to our room when it's ready, after receiving some pretty cool shell leis from the hotel and when we get to our room, we see that we're on the corner of the hotel, so we BARELY have an ocean view. We gave up a king bed for this? We called the front desk and were promptly moved to a different room with a much better view!!
As we were getting settled into our room, there's a knock on our door. Complimentary champagne, because it was our anniversary during our stay... BONUS!!
The breakfast buffet at this hotel is AMAZING! Omelet station, choices of meats, fresh fruits, breads, pastries, cereal, burrito station, yogurts... and orange juice and coffee. All complimentary... well, included in the price of the package we got.
This hotel is spread out over a few acres, is right on the beach near Black Rock, which has amazing snorkeling, if the water's not too rough, great pool with a happy hour from 11am till noon. We had an amazing stay and will definitely stay here again if we go back.
Oh, we also had a message on our phone the first night we were there that there was a gift waiting for us at the front desk. When we went to pick it up... a package of 15 vintage postcards. I thought that was pretty neat!
Horrible food. Even worse service! The staff here practically ignored us. We could have just walked in to the buffet and left for free.
In the buffet (which we did own up and pay for), the food was cold and been sitting out for hours. The plates were dirty and when we pointed it out the hostess was like, well what do you want me to do about it?
We waited for 45 mins for a table while we looked at empty tables. Then the hostess forgot about us for another 25 mins before we were seated.
The wait staff just wanted to talk to their friends and go home. They did not want to be there and let us know.

If you are the type of person that chooses a hotel based on its location, the Sheraton should rank high on your list. It is on Kaanapali Beach, and at Black Rock, an excellent place to snorkel. It is minutes away from Lahaina.
However, if you are the type of person that is concerned with the cleanliness of the place, book a stay at another hotel.
You know the questions in your life, you wish you had never asked? The sights you had wished you had never seen (like your parents...*cough* together)? Well, I had one of those moments at the Sheraton.
I flipped the runner (the rectangular decorative sheet) on the bed. I saw many different blood stains. Yellow stains. Brown stains. Stains I couldn't identify. Stains from multiple people. It looked like it hadn't been washed for years! As if this weren't bad enough, the room had a terrible musty smell from the curtains (perhaps the room had been water damaged) as well as from the rug. The housekeeping left much to be desired - the toilet smelled like ass and there was gunk all over the light switch and mold in the shower. I have stayed at Best Westerns cleaner than this. Don't stay here if you mind this sort of thing.
The hotel is really nice. The food sucks. If you stay here, I would eat somewhere else. The pools are nice and the beach is great.
Don't let my two star yelp be confused with the classic one to five star rating system for hotels. On that scale, Sheraton Maui is a four star hotel/resort.
This place is a behemoth- we booked here because we didn't want to have to catch our plane after driving back from Hana at five am, and we used starwood points to drop the price way down, so expectations were low.
The design of the hotel is totally generic- you could be anywhere. Lots of kids and pale americans. You have to pay to rent a chaise lounge on the beach (WTF?). We tried to get a drink at the hotel bar on a saturday night at 930 PM and were ignored for 30 minutes before we left without even interacting with a waitress. Not her fault- they were understaffed. It took us 15 minutes to walk from our room to the concierge desk.
If you can, ask for "Building 6" which is the farthest from the main complex- you get a front row ocean view and a minimum of resorty traffic.
Oh- one final note- just for the folks at Starwood. As preferred guest, we had a voice mail message from our "personal service cooradinator"- her name was Charlotte. I was confused about which luau the concierge had booked us at, so I thought I would give the psc a call. Here is the conversation I had:
"Hey this is Scott- I got you message about being our PSC- the concierge booked us into a luau and we're not sure which one- or how to get there- can you help us?"
Charlotte: "Well, the concierge would have that information."
Me: (pause) "So, I need to call the concierge and then call you back?(Hopeful)
Charlotte: "Well, there are two main ones, let me just give you directions for both right now."
Me: "Um... ok?"
Maybe Charlotte could have made that call to the concierge for us? Just a thought.

We stayed her this year 4/09-5/09 and must say were treated very kindly. My boyfriend and I had originally planned a trip to cancun and thanks to the piggy flu we cancelled and he surprised me for my birthday with a trip to Maui! How much better does it get then that. Not to mention this resort and spa is fabulous! After an unexpected medical emergency for my boyfriend I ended up calling the front desk to send an ambulance. He had a seizure and they were there within minutes! The ambulance had arrived shortly after that. They were so kind and caring and made the whole incident so comforting. Along with that everything turned out for the good. They contacted us afterwards following up and making sure my boyfriend was OK. I cannot tell you how nice that was to know that the establishment you are staying at is concerned.
Everything else was perfect. We enjoyed everything about this resort, staff was so nice and helpful. I have to agree that I feel the beach lounge chairs should be included for all guests and no charges should be incurred but that is our only complaint. Maybe they can change this.Thank you Sheraton for making our first time in Maui a very memorable and most pleasant one. We will be back!

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time here. They greeted us with leis and a tropical juice when we checked in. They also gave us equipment and fish food to go snorkeling and we saw so many fish and turtles! We lost track of how far we were from the shore and they sent someone to paddle out to tell us that we should come back. The hotel will book you excursions and just walking along the beautiful beach was very relaxing and memorable.
Another Starwood favorite...thanks Starwood!!!!

We had our car valeted to get to the beach.
It is $15 or $5 if validated at the restaurant.
It used to be $5 regardless of the dining.
I expected way more.
I'll start with the negative stuff, and finish with the positive. We checked in and checked out in 30 minutes. The room was small, stuffy, and dirty. The floor had food on it, and smelled like a hospital. We used starwood points to get the room, and after a lot of travel, you want a nice vacation spot.
That being said, the staff was beyond accommodating. Before we saw the dirty room, they gave us a free upgrade to a partial ocean view. When we called down to say the room was a mess, they offered two additional rooms that we could look at. We had already made up our minds that we wanted to leave and check in at the Westin.
They helped us make a reservation at the Westin, made sure our points were refunded for the Sheraton, and even helped us upgrade to a full ocean view at the Westin for just a few more points.
The staff gets five stars, but the hotel only gets two.
Initially, I wanted to stay at the Westin, because it was newer, better pictures of the room on the internet, good reviews. But Sheraton was good for our pocket. Any hesitations were immediately erased when we arrived at the hotel. I was blown away by the entrance. It was gorgeous, with ridiculous views of the ocean and palm trees, everything was open to the breeze, the huge windows open to the beach views... The location was great at the end of the road. Maybe because it was towards the end of the season that the hotel was very calm and peaceful.
We were surprisingly upgraded to a Mountain View room from the Garden View. I thought the bedroom was wonderful, with a comfortable bed, and breathtaking views of the mountainside to our right and the ocean to our left, so beautiful to wake up to in the morning. I could not ask for a better view. Someone might take half a star away for the outdated bathroom, but it's not like I spent my vacation in the bathroom, so I can't bring myself to do that. I would definitely stay here again.
Right outside is the Black Rock, known by all the locals, where you can jump off a small cliff into the ocean. I was pressured by my husband to jump, but it friggin rocked. You can rent snorkeling gear right by the pool and head to the ocean. I'd say more, but really, Maui is just WONDERFUL.

This was a great hotel choice for our Honeymoon! We were given a great view of the pool and ocean, and our room was nice. Staff in the hotel were so nice...saying aloha, and very receptive to whenever we needed something. Being situated right on the biggest part of Kaanapali Beach on Black Rock was a plus! Snorkeling was good at Black Rock in the mornings when it wasn't busy...lot's of fishies, and turtles! The lawn, pool, hotel, overall was very clean and well maintained.
Overall, good location, clean hotel, prices were as expected in Hawaii. Would definitely consider the Sheraton again on my next visit to Maui...whenever that would be!
We were disappointed with our choice of the Sheraton. Now that we've stayed here and seen the other resorts on this side of the island, we wished we had stayed at the Westin.
The Sheraton is a really great choice for people with kids and maybe for college kids looking to have a good time (with lots of money). If you are looking for a quiet place or a place with good food, this is not the place for you.
As many people have noted, the location is unbelievable. The views (especially from the Deluxe Oceanfront rooms that we got upgraded to) are incomparable, fairly quiet and private. And the black rock gives the place an out-of-this-world feeling. If it weren't for this, we would have moved.
There were other things that were good about our stay: staff were friendly, self-parking was convenient, rooms were clean and well-stocked, etc.
The bad parts:
Food: The food was just okay and pricey. I'll gladly pay their prices for good food, but when you get the mediocre quality they serve, I was upset. We often found ourselves walking over to the Westin, where we could enjoy much better food for the same price at their in-hotel restaurants.
Room Service: The room service menu prices were astronomical. $35 for a burger, and it wasn't anything special. I ended up walking down to the bar to order food. And good luck trying to order something from the bar or restaurant downstairs; it can't be done and some of the people answering the phones were downright rude about it. Of course you're expected to just order on the TV, but there's no way to special order anything using the TV.
Layout: To get from our oceanfront rooms to the pool/lobby/restaurant, we had to take no fewer than 3 elevators, sometimes 4. In addition, although the route to these destinations is technically handicap-accessible, there are some pretty steep slopes, uneven tiles, and carpets that make this a bit difficult.
Spa: They don't have one. They sent us over to the Westin, which is when we discovered that we should have stayed there instead.
If we ever come back to Maui and want to stay in the touristy area, we will definitely take a closer look at the Westin, which seems like a better choice for folks like us.

Have no idea what we paid but I thought it was great. Great Ocean views the moment you walk into the lobby, gorgeous views of the beach, pool, and the black rock cliff diving ceremony at night...everything.
I like the pool and how it steched out and had tunnels, caves, and waterfalls. Jacuzzi made weird noises out of the blowholes. Cool pool for kids but we saw very very very few kids so it didn't ruin the experience.
They check to make sure you're actually staying at the hotel to avoid pool squatters. Poolside servers are hit or miss. Sometimes good and quick, sometimes rude and slow. Drinks are fabulous. I didn't have any food here but the drinks...good stuff.
2 doors down from the Whalers Village shopping mall and plenty close to all of the other resorts.
If I had super cash to blow, probably would have gone with the Hyatt but this seemed to have the most bang for the buck.
If you're a tourist, and want to be around other tourist then this is the place for you! The very first question that I asked when we arrived was, "where are the brown people?!" This place was chock full of older (55+), Mid West & East Coaster who had found there way to "paradise" and then crashed on the lawn furniture!
This hotel is on a great location, and has it's own private, beautiful beach. It's great for kids, large families, and perhaps those that aren't comfortable with the ocean. There are several pools and waterways to play in and lounge around.
Our room was nice, kinda small, and could have used some updating, though the view was spectacular! Unfortunately, for me, I'm a very light sleeper and the noises of water running through pipes from toilet flushes (we were on the top floor and still heard them), buzzes and rumblings of hidden things in the ceiling, and kids yelling and screaming kept me awake pretty much every night. I did enjoy their gym (though it's literally way over on the other side of the hotel), as I was able to get my workout on, even while on vacation.

Yes, I am a fan of the Sheraton!!! The facility is just impeccable - clean, open and inviting - all at a respectable price. The staff was so helpful and sincere - very nice people. The pool, food and drinks were perfect
We were upgraded to to a partial Ocean View room, but the only caveat was a noisy refrigerator - we asked for our old room back, but they said they would replace the fridge when the room was serviced. Not!! And the concierge didn't call back when we asked for a recommendation on a Molokini snorkel trip. We ended up booking our own trip out of an Activities Kiosk in Lahaina.
But the service from our Valet's, room service and front desk was "on point". They definately made up for the sore spots.
I love snorkeling so when I read that the Sheraton Maui sat atop Black Rock (home to zillions of fish and hugeamongous turtles!), I knew I'd found the perfect hotel for our Maui stay.
The hotel's rates I was not so crazy about---starting price $400-something a night for a basic little room. I called the reservation line, made a friend and the room was ours for $235/night, plus an $18/night "resort fee" (BULLSHIT FEE!)
Upon arrival we were "leied" by the staff. After a speedy check-in, we headed to our room. I gotta admit, when I opened the door my heart sank, rotted, then died. In that order. The room was tiny, dark and on the bottom floor. The "garden view" was more like a sidewalk view. And then I noticed a vague but overwhelming odor followed by an all encompassing wetness in the air. I carefully removed one of my flip flops and toed the carpet. It was mushy. In fact, everything in the room was wet to some extent. I tried to remain calm but all I could think was: "I just flew 50 gazillion hours for THIS?! Heads are gonna roll!"
By the time I stomped a fur piece all the way back to the front desk, I had calmed down considerably. I put on my best shit-eating grin, politely told the front desk person that our room was unacceptably "moist" and demanded we be moved. Immediately! The next thing I knew, a super friendly bellhop was rolling all our stuff to an oceanfront suite and telling us his well-rehearsed sad life tale.
The only catch with the fab new suite: we had to move out of it and into another room the very next day. At that point I didn't care---I was far too exhausted to worry about tomorrow....
Our second "new room" was a huge one bedroom suite up on the top floor so we had an even better view of the ocean. Upon entering this room there were two sets of mirrored double doors to the immediate left. These opened up to large his and her closets, one of which held a safe. Adjacent to the closets was a small cabinet that hid a mini fridge. (No microwave--I really wish they'd consider installing one in every room)
Across from the closets, another set of double doors opened to a large bathroom. It was lovely--decorated in cream limestone with tasteful fixtures. The toilet was in its own separate little closet (which really came in handy thanks to all the terrible food we ate!)
The room itself was huge and filled with dark wood furniture (king size bed, two nightstands, large dresser, large table and chairs, a chaise lounge, etc). On the dresser was a large flat screen TV that had an OK selection of channels. The bed was comfy though I have a thing for high thread count sheets and theirs were DEFINITELY not high thread count enough for me. I also wish they had poufy pillows like I'm accoustomed to, instead of the flour sacks they call pillows :(
The balcony was big and offered a great view of the beach and Black Rock. In fact, we often stood out there at night and watched the cliff diver jump off Black Rock into the ocean each evening.
Housekeeping was awesome. They thoroughly cleaned each day and didn't seem to mind changing the linens every other day (my crazy boyfriend has a serious obsession with fresh linens). They also quickly brought me a dental kit late one night when I couldn't find my toothpaste.
I prefer vacation exercise come in the form of insane physical adventures, but still I scoped the resort's gym. It was ok--smallish but with all the necessary equipment for a full body workout. My boyfriend used it every morning and had no complaints.
We got so wrapped up exploring the island and snorkeling at other places that we nearly forgot to check out Black Rock! We finally got out there late one afternoon and though the water was a bit cloudy (the tide was coming in), we were impressed! Large schools of fish swam right up in my face and didn't move until I was thisclose to touching them. The turtles were frighteningly large but very people friendly. It was an amazing honor to swim with them!
Wrapping this up....I also liked that the Sheraton is in Lahaina but not in the middle of the super touristy Front Street area. The resort is adjacent to other large and small developments (including a pretty golf course) but it still seems to be its own little world. It's also close to a Safeway and a Pizza Hut/Taco Bell restaurant (PRAISE JESUS!), all of which came in handy. Some of my other reviews attest to this but in case you don't read them: overall we found the food in Maui to be incredibly gross and disappointing, regardless of cost. I LOVE eating and I was 6 LBS lighter when I got home from Maui! Seriously! The food was THAT freakin' nasty! If not for Safeway meatloaf and Taco Bell tacos, both of us would've slap starved to death

Considering I had never been to Maui....I didn't have much to compare to other than Oahu. I thought that the location of the Sheraton was kickass considering I wanted to snorkel and the resort butts up against Black Rock...which...had SPECTACULAR snorkeling (we may have just gotten lucky, who knows)...we saw in one day alone: a black tipped reef shark, two turtles, a spotted ray, a barracuda AND a sea snake!! Oh...and fish. lol
The cabanas on the beach were cool...kept us from burning...and they weren't too strict on bringin' drinks to the sand which was nice. Also an easy walk to Whaler's village and an easy drive both north to Kapalua and south to Kihei and Wailea. Although...after driving to Wailea and seeing the resorts...it's MUCH swankier there. lol But, our little Sheraton did the job for what we needed. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly.
Only thing I wasn't impressed with was the food. So-so at the resort.

I say here in an Ocean Front room everytime I go to maui. I couldnt imagine staying anywhere else or in a different type of room. Kinda expensive/ food too. Minutes from Lahaina to shop or eat. About an hour away from airport. BEAUTIFUL. Of course there is Black Rock which no other resort has. Private parking for the Ocean Front rooms. Must stay here. We went on our honeymoon a few years ago and everytime we come back they remember who we are and upgrade us and send champagne to our room.

I recently stayed at the Sheraton Black Rock here on Maui and since they remodeled - it's lookin' pretty darn good. They did a very nice job. The room was beautiful and the bed was extra comfy (not as good as the Westin rooms, but pretty darn good!)
The only thing I didn't like was the Port Cochere - they could have designed it better to get access to where you pick up your car. But, other than that - I have no complaints. Nice hotel.
The Sheraton Maui is in a great location right on Black Rock , which is an excellent place to snorkel, but that factor could not override the service.
We arrived & it took the hotel over 30 minutes to get us into our room because the handle on our door was broken & the front desk thought it was just a key card issue. When they finally thought it might be something else, there was no apology for the delay.
The towel kiosk was somehow always out of towels when we wanted to go to the beach. Here's a tip--stop giving out 10 towels to the soccer moms in front of me so you can give me 1 measly towel.
If we weren't using our Starwood points for this stay, I would not pay to stay here. While the room had a nice view of the ocean, it was older & Ka'anapali wasn't nearly as nice as Wailea or Kihei. Both Wailea & Kihei were a bit more quaint while Ka'anapali was overrun with tourists. My husband & I thought we had accidentally made a trip to the Jersey Shore instead of Maui.
The Sheraton Maui has the best location on Kaanapali Beach and the hotel itself is wonderful. The staff is excellent. We had the nicest people help us out while we stayed here for a week.
We played in the ocean, rented a cabana, and took many walks over to Whaler's Village. We did not eat here, as many people advised us that the food was not good here. Plus there are so many wonderful places to eat on Maui, especially over in Whaler's Village and Lahaina!
For the value, the view, and the location, the Sheraton is well worth the price. The first day, you receive complimentary valet parking, but you can use the private lots instead after that. The staff just wants to make sure you get into the hotel smoothly.
The fitness center is awesome. It's open air, and during the winter you get great views while on the bikes! In the winter during my workout I was watching the humpback whales play. The fitness center is up on the Black Rock.
I also had a manicure at the little salon at the Sheraton, and I loved it. Great job, great staff, and reasonable prices.
I didn't actually stay here... but Jona at the bar by the pool deserves some commendation for being my favorite bartender of the week I spent in Maui. His Mango Margaritas are crazy good!

I was NOT impressed with this hotel. Bland everything from the room to the hotel grounds. While I realize it's a Sheraton and there's only so much "feel" that comes with that chain, as a Starwood member I've visited tons of Sheratons that make this feel like a big Comfort Inn.
The location was about the only thing I liked (Whaler's Village proximity, Black Rock for snorkeling, etc.) But if you're going to really vacation, I'd select a different hotel that has more character and better service [the workers weren't too attentive for just standing around] for the price range.
The good: Fantastic location on Kaanapali Beach. If you love to snorkel, Black Rock is right in front of the hotel. You can literally swim right off the beach and see a ton of color fish and sea creatures. I didn't see any turtles or sharks during my stay, but I did see a huge variety of interesting looking fish. There's a nice pool area with lots of lounge chairs. The waitresses even came around and handed out slices of fresh pineapple! If you wanted to explore other beaches in Maui, you can pick up towels to bring with you from the valet stand. The hotel is within walking distance to Whalers Village where there are a bunch of stores and beachfront dining options. Hotel staff is very helpful and polite. When our in-room safe malfunctioned, they had someone fix it within 10 minutes of us calling. Lahaina and Safeway are just a short drive away.
The ok: The room needed to be updated. It was spacious enough and had a good size deck, but I felt the bathroom could have been a little nicer and with more amenities. For a four star hotel, the bathroom was definitely needed work. Also, our shower curtain smelled of mildew. The beds are very comfortable though. It's also such a huge hotel with expansive grounds that walking to/from the parking garage took a bit of time.
The bad: It's expensive to rent chairs/umbrellas or two-person mini-cabanas on the beach. I'm someone that loves the beach, but I do need some shade if I'm going to be out there the whole day. The rental for the mini-cabana was a whopping $40/day so it really adds up if you spend a lot of days on that beach. But there are so many other places to go on the island that we only did this for one day.
great location - right @ the end of ka'anapali beach (good snorkeling spot, saw lots of green sea turtles)
expansive & lush landscape - the resort covers a lot of ground, enjoy trying to find the exercise room. inspiring views of nearby islands and the ocean (which is as blue as the chlorine pool!)
big, spacious room - large furniture, plush bed, tall ceilings
diverse activity offerings - i took advantage of the yoga & pilates class, was a great way to kick off my aloha days
tasty dining options - got to enjoy the fresh fish of the day, like buttah. especially enjoyable w/live hawaiian music & fresh island breeze in the background.

A-OK.
location, location, location. i had the choice of the Sheraton, Hyatt, westin, or westin villa's for my 7 day honeymoon in Maui, my manager tipped me to the fact this hotel usually doesnt have a lot of children, so i chose it based on that alone, the pictures on expedia did make the hotel look somewhat bland, however, location, location, location.
snorkeling
i had booked the pacific whale foundation snorkeling trip to molokini and turtle arches, while it was a fantastic trip, we saw as many turtles and fish at the blackrock reef 200 feet in front of the hotel as we did on the trip (take a couple pieces of bread and you will see more fish than you ever believed) however, i would still take the pac whale trip, strictly for the educational aspect and the professionalism of the crew, all college educated naturalists, the fresh BBQ on the ship, and the open bar.
i booked the "garden view" room, which is one of the lower tier priced rooms. when i checked in, i was upgraded without even asking to a "mountain view", this was actually about 70% mountain and 30% ocean view.
im not sure about the reviews stating bad service by the staff, this was the friendliest place ive ever been. every single staff person said aloha every time we passed, and pretty much made the week fantastic. during our stay we went to the Hyatt regency for the luau, and that hotel while being absolutely beautiful, seemed impersonal. the westin villas is a timeshare that rents, and while the rooms were incredible, i was told by my manager that stayed there that same week that the service was so bad they were trying to switch hotels.
some advice when staying at any starwood property, sign up for the free starwood membership and charge EVERYTHING to the room, and use your membership discount when you check out to charge everything to your credit card, save a couple of hundred dollars that way (wish i knew that the first 5 days of the trip), also, near the end of our stay, they gave us a 100.00 gift cert to be used for anything we wanted in hotel to sit through the time share presentation, it was about 90 minutes and totally no pressure. we said we werent interested in it right now and would think about it and they accepted that answer instantly.

I really liked the location of this hotel! the grounds are beautiful and the beach is so private...it's at the end of kaanapali beach.....we really had a nice time of relaxation! the beds were super comfy!
I'm a big fan of the Sheraton in Kaanapali. It's at the end of the Kannapali beach strand just North of Lahaina. The hotel had good service with nice amenities. It sits right on the beach near the Black Rock cliffs which provide great snorkeling and cliff diving shows. The hotel offers good bar drinks and food by the pool and has many seats (though be sure to mark a chair early with a towel and book). The pool service also allows you to reserve beach-side cabanas, chairs, umbrellas, and pool side gazebos for a fee. The pools are beautiful and are great for kids to run around. The downside of the family friendliness is that it can get a little noisy. The rooms were clean and spacious and all you could ask for with a mini-fridge, deck, and pay per view TV. The gym however was seriously lacking. Most of the equipment was old and it was crowded since there were so few machines. I liked that the hotel offered free newspapers: USA Today, WSJ or the local paper. I can't comment on the restaurants since we took the 5 minute drive to Lahaina every day for dinner, which is easy since the hotel offers free parking. Definitely a place I would recommend.
