Bang for the Buck!  We got a deal through Starwoods for 99.00 per room.  We came to La Jolla to stay the night and  to catch the Miramar Air Show the next day.

The rooms are clean and large and I like the fact that this room has a mini refrigerator and microwave.  I have a toddler and it's nice to put his drinks in the fridge and knowing that I can heat his food up in the microwave is a plus.

The rooms are very clean and has a decent size pool and hot tub as well.  I was a bit surprised at first because I was expecting a higher building for some strange reason from the pictures I saw.  This is a 2 story building, more like many units spaced around, sort of like an apartment complex, very quaint and quiet....once you get past this and realize there is everything you need here then you are set to go.

We ate at Humphrey's Grill on the premises after eating horrible Thai food at Spice and Rice.  The food was great here and with entrys being half off as a special I couldn't complain.  If you don't have  reservations anywhere special, do eat here.  The food is great and prices reasonable.

Will I stay here again...if the price is right absolutely!

The first hotel my husband and I ever stayed at when we started going to La Jolla/San Diego.

We always get a great room, that is very clean, well stocked and has every amenity that we could need.

We like that it is close to a shopping center that has restaurants, grocery stores and Cold Stone! Just in case we wanted to go grab stuff to keep in the fridge and dont want to pay mini bar prices which are always a rip off...

All in all a great place to stay! Very secure and comfortable.

You know...they get an A in my book.

I found a great deal for a $99 dollar room plus $10 for parking. I called after my reservations were booked online to see if we could get dibs on a room with a view (it's not garunteed but why not ask for dibs!)

We arrived and lucked out- the last room w a view! We opened our door and heard a Heellllllooooooo??????? coming from inside. My friend walked in and the lady in the room was like "hi, there's a bug in the bathroom" and he was like "ok?, are you guys staying in this room with us?" we all burst out laughing because they had given the room to two parties! Thankfully, they were dressed and thought we were the people coming to catch the bug! We called the front desk from their room and they apologized profusly and promised to make up for it. THEY DID. We were upgraded to an amazing suite and they were so awesome about the whole thing. They called later to make sure we were happy with the room, told us anything we needed they could do! We had them print directions for us several times while we would get ready and they were ready when we picked them up at the front desk.

Mistakes happen but it's how companies handle it and fix it that really earn my respect. I will not hesitate to stay with them again. Plus the location was beautiful and close to a lot of convenient shopping.

besides, the gross comfort inn a few minutes away wanted $150 bucks for a crummy, gross room! I don't think so! I am a firm believer in upgrading and saving money.

The place is nice, but I wish they were more professional and aware when it comes to the bill of the hotel room. I booked a couple months prior and thought I had a great deal on the hotel. When I got there, they charged me nearly $2,000! I had to pack up that afternoon and get the hell out. They apologized for the inconvenience. I was quite upset. Although the place is nice and the staff is friendly, the lady that was there was unprofessional and a LIAR at that. Long story.

So many good things to say, but I'm not to sure I'd stay there again.  To start, the place is really nice, super clean, classy, service was beyond question...room seemed great...until night came...the air conditioner would go off and on and each time I thought a semi was entering our room. When I started to get over that...about 1 am, some other guests outside in the courtyard woke us up...I was THIS close to getting up and yelling at them. Then around 7 am (it was sunday too!) the grounds keepers started making noise!!!  Not gardening...just loud talking!!!  We didn't sleep too well.  So, yeah, beyond the noise...it wouldn't  have been so bad.  Tte restaurant...Humphrey's was great!!!  Very good food.

This is a great place to have an event or meeting! I have been to many different events at this hotel and they always do a wonderful job and are very attentive to detail! Recently my organization, The Executives' Association of San Diego, had a luncheon there and it was so delicious. Also, the coffee was hot, they kept the water glasses filled, and the food is exceptional.

I have recently attended several business luncheons at the Sheraton La Jolla Hotel and found the location easy to find, parking a breeze, the food fantastic and the service from the staff outstanding! I would highly recommend this establishment for any type of business or personal event.

Nice!  Came here this past weekend for a friends birthday w/ a couple others.  My friend that booked the room is a Starwood Preferred Guest and she had enough hotel points to get our room for free so that was extra nice.  We checked in late Friday and stayed til Sunday.  The suite was nice and spacious.  Two beds, a pretty nice sized bathroom, a small kitchen area, living space area, and a patio.  It was clean and comfy.  Also, because she was a preferred guest we had access to the Club Lounge where you can get free sodas/water and tea/coffee.  On Sunday we also got 2 free breakfasts!  Good stuff.

The location was another good thing about this place.  Close to the freeways, close to the beach, and very close to food places and a shopping center w/ CVS, the bank, and a few other things.  I didn't go to the pool area but my friends did and enjoyed their time there.  It was a nice place to stay for what we wanted to do.  The only sucky thing is that you have to pay $10/day for parking!  Boo on that.

They made it seem nicer on the website.  A little out dated.  Almost dorm room feel.  Staph was very friendly and even went out of their way to get us towels at the pool.  Overall well priced for a hotel in La Jolla.

We decided to take a weekend trip to La Jolla for my birthday. My boyfriend choose this place from Expedia because i guess it had pretty good reviews. Upon entering there is a lot of trees, but a very welcoming entrance. The lobby was really nice with beautiful marble floors. When we checked in they gave us sugar cookies which were still warm! And they also gave us a 50% of at there restaurant, but it had a lot of restrictions and was very pricey so we didn't dine there. The outside looks very dated, but when we entered our room it was very modern and smelled great. There is a fridge and microwave and they have Starbucks coffee! No mini bar though =(  The TV is a flat panel but the channels were kinda fuzzy.

So our first night was really nice we were at the end so we didn't hear anything. The pool was pretty much packed everyday, there were lots of families staying here. (Be prepared for a lot of obnoxious kids...) The garden area is beautiful great for pictures. Our second night we came back from the spa and pulled back the sheets and the was a spider in our bed! I totally freaked out , i was afraid he may have brought his spidey friends. So i called the front and asked for our sheets to be changed they came fairly quickly and changed them. One other thing I wasn't crazy about is that there bathrooms are super tiny, having two people in there at a time would be a challenge.

Overall the service was really prompt and grounds looked good. I would come back only if I found a really good deal because I ended up finding some equally nice hotels for a equal or lower price. Be aware that there is a $200 dollar charge for cancellation if you ordered the room for a website even if its weeks before your stay...

I don't know how I keep getting into these Sheraton retrofits. This one, I think used to be a Holiday Inn. You'd think Sheraton only built W's these days. Anyway, a decent hotel with easy access to highways and shops. SPG Platinums have access to the club room with free soft drinks 24 hours a day, which is a bonus. Exercise room is clean and the equipment is well serviced and operational. I was in town to work a trade show at the Hyatt around the corner which seemed a much, much more nicely appointed hotel at around the same price point.

Sheraton price, Motel 6 lay out.  I would stay there again, but I wouldn't call this hotel my hotel of choice in La Jolla.

The room and lobby interior are very nice.  All of it looked freshly renovated.  However, the layout of the hotel is disjointed like a Motel 6, and call me crazy, but the place even smells like Motel 6.  For the money, I'd go elsewhere next time.

Well I have to honestly say that I did have a pretty good experience this past weekend here...just came down to La Jolla - SD area for the weekend on a spur of the moment trip and decided to check this spot out. Had no reservations but the front desk was kind enough to kind look up their rates and even gave us their online discounted rate of $159 a night as opposed to the AAA discount rate which was $209...WTH?

Even better was that they were nice enough to check me in early because they had a king size, non-smoking room overlooking the garden area! So instead of the usual 3pm check in I got to unload my travel bag and relax at 11am! WOOHOO..took a nap before checking out the rest of La Jolla and I still had plenty of time for the sights.

King sized bed, cable, microwave, mini-fridge, and even a personal sized coffee maker serving nothing but the best...Starbucks! Flat screen tv, love seat...the room I definitely have to say was very spacious.

Cons: The bathroom was very small and tight...you definitely couldn't have more than 1 person in there at a time..as the door swings right into the toilet..I think it would be better if they had a sliding door instead...

Overall it was a nice location, conveniently near the freeways and very close to all that's around La Jolla so you can cruise around. Had a comfortable night's rest!

Every so often, I take one for the team--that's all of you--and tell embarrassing stories about my experiences to save you from having your own embarrassing (and in this case, itchy) stories.  This is one such review.

Minus the stories, this is a 2ish, maybe 2.5ish, establishment.  The grounds are quite nice, very nicely manicured, resorty.  The rooms are rennovated, in that new coat of paint way, not remodeled.  The bed is very comfortable (but the caveats are key!).  That's it for nice.

Here goes the rest:

*The place feels like a motel.  Buildings have interior entrances, but the door was never locked, and once was propped open by some chain smoking guests.  Classy!

*The hallway has an cave-like low ceiling and almost no lighting.  Eerie!

*The bathroom was heinious, but funny!  To make the door close around the toilet--I kid you not--they cut a wedge out of the door.  The bathroom was so small you could not put a bathmat down between the toilet and the door.  This led to unfortunate puddling, which led to quite an embarrassing slip on my part, which led me to smack my arm so hard on the (obviously quite nearby) granite counter I thought it was broken.  It's ok, I was able to move it again after 24 hours.

*The toiletries were junk and the cookies were stale.  There is no free water, like one reviewer suggested.

*The room was pitch dark.  This was a first floor room.  I didn't know about the Starwood upgrade--nobody asked if I was a member--I am.  Thanks for the nice, $210 non-upgraded room, probably the worst you had.  Really appreciate you going the extra mile to give me what I deserve.

*Oh, thanks for calling us repeatedly after our check in to see how we were.  I didn't need my nap, naps are for loosers.

*And the best part, the crowning glory that gives this a one star....I woke up wondering why I had kicked off all the covers.  Several hours later, I found my legs covered in welts, itchy, disgusting, gigantic welts.  Yes, people, I was (embarrassing story number two) attacked by bed bugs, or maybe fleas.  Since the resurgence of bed bugs around the world 5-10 years ago, I've stayed in no fewer than 200 hotel rooms around the world, some of them rather shaddy.  Not once have I been attacked by the bastards.

Once I am done itching (apparently bed bug bites itch for several days and often scar--who knew!), I am writing the damn Sheraton and demanding my money back.

OVERPRICED DUMP.  AVOID UNLESS YOU TOO WANT FUNNY STORIES.

Definitely not a high end, ritzy hotel but I can't complain because our room was reasonably priced and pretty comfy.  We were promptly  checked in along with a complimentary chocolate chip cookie.  I'm such a sucker for sweets...it wouldn't have mattered if I found urine stains on the walls because I was a happy camper with my cookie.

king sized bed, cable, microwave, refrigerator and a breath-taking view of the parking lot---you know I went ALL OUT.

This place does *not* look like the photos on the website. hahah.   As the taxi pulled up to the hotel, I was like, "Are you sure this is the right Sheraton??"  He had explained the hotel used to be a Residence Inn.

You check in at the lobby and they give you this ridiculously complicated map and try to show you where your room is.  There are buildings A, B, C, D, E, maybe more.   You have to walk back outside to get to your room.  It's quite a trek, luckily we didn't have much luggage.  It would suck if it rained.  I guess it doesn't rain *that* much in San Diego, so it doesn't pose much of a problem.   As I'm walking, I'm thinking...this doesn't even really look like a hotel at all.  It was just a bit...strange.

Another weird thing...our room number is in the 700s, and it's on the first level.  There are only two floors.  Hahah. Weird.  As you walk into the building, it totally looks like a crappy motel.   I was totally scared of the room situation.   However, I was pleasantly surprised.

Beds are comfy, nice decorations, small LG flat screen, microwave, coffee maker, and wireless internet access.    Not bad!

The garden area/pool is pretty nice.  Another plus is their restaurant, Humphrey's.  We had breakfast there and it was pretty tasty!  They had a great sourdough breakfast sandwich and they cooked my over medium eggs perfectly!!

My hubby and I stayed at this hotel and had a great time. Again its not fancy but what we loved about this place is its cozy quiet environment, away from the buzz of the la jolla beach. Its also very close to the beach. We also had breakfast at their restaurant and had a wonderful service. I would recommend this hotel for those who are not looking for fancy hotel. This place is one comfortable, clean, quiet and well kept place.

Sheraton La Jolla used to be a Radisson's. As a Sheraton, the value totally increased for me. The rates lowered, and no more lame sleep number beds (which were not in all rooms. ) There were slippers and robes in our rooms. I would have liked it better if the towels were fluffier.

The carpets, and furniture were replaced. The bathrooms became a bit more sophisticated. The rooms are still roomy. I prefer the pool facing  west building rooms....don't recall which building number.

The rooms smell clean and appear clean. I only say appear, because I did not do any cleaning test.

The gardens and pool are lovely, great for photos. The pool isn't that large, but large enough for playing. There is a sauna and fresh towels by the pool.
The location is a close to University Town Center, UCSD and local La Jolla business and near the beach.

I agree with other reviewers who say there is a disconnect with this hotel: it's a Sheraton, and thereby more expensive, but it's been retrofitted from an older, cheaper hotel and the combo just doesn't work. The room interiors are nice and have a few perks (robes, free WiFi, a microwave and fridge in my room). However, I really feel unsafe with the separate buildings and seemingly easy access. (Doors weren't propped open in my building but I saw them propped in adjoining buildings.) I just expect more when I pay for a Sheraton or Hilton; even if the building isn't a high rise, it should be nicer than, say, a Hampton or Holiday Inn. This barely surpassed those hotels. The pool area is decent but could have been a bit cleaner - they need to have bins for dirty towels since most guests just threw them on the ground when they left the pool area.

Pros:
-Most rooms are newly refurbished and looks very nice.
-Most comfortable BED ever in a hotel!
-Microwave in the room is Awesome!! (not nec. in other Sheratons)
-Free popcorn (not nec. in other Sheraton)
-Complimentary bottled water (2 per day)
-Starbucks coffee in room (not nec. in other Sheratons)
-Half n Half in room (not nec. in other Sheratons)
-Fridge in room
-Freshly baked cookies daily (not nec. in other Sheratons)
-Super friendly employees.  Spoke to a wonderful employee named Yolanda who answered all of our many questions before we booked, and because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, she upgraded us to a Suite, which was super nice and comfy.  We weren't sure why hotel to stay at to be close to Zoo & Seaworld, but Yolanda convinced us that this place would make our stay comfy and it did.  Other employees were also very responsive to our requests for more half n half, water, ...
-Easy driving distance to both Sea World and San Diego Zoo.
-Walking distance to a Peets Coffee (even though it didn't show up on my GPS).  It's in the stripmall right next to the hotel, there is a shortcut behind the hotel parking lot, through a gate/door that you need your room key to get back through.  There's no big sign, so don't miss it.
-Lots of restaurants and drugstores within walking distance.  If you like sushi, try Sushi Ota (highly rated on Yelp) at 4529 Mission Bay Dr
(at Bunker Hill St)
San Diego, CA 92109
(858) 270-5670

The only con is that some doors (i think the outside doors, not room doors) slam very loud!  So, in the morning, when people start coming in and out, I could hear the doors slamming away.  I am a light sleeper and I prefer to wake after 9am...so take that into consideration.  Bring earplugs just in case your room is near an outside door.

For what it is, I give it a four for being a very nice affordable family type hotel on the weekends.  Don't expect the Ritz, but the grounds are pretty with fountains, goldfishes, and ponds.  The kids love the pool and jacuzzi and the rooms are spacious and newly appointed.  We had a nice comfortable armchair for me to feed our baby and the sleepnumber beds are to die for.  The bathrooms, however, are made for one person, no matter how small you are--I mean the door swings within an inch of the toilet seat.  There is a basic gym with new equipment.  The hotel gives you half off coupons to their restaurant, but they're no good for breakfast, so it's a wash.  Still, not having extremely high expectations, we were well satisfied with our brief stay and would stay here again.

I would NOT recommend this place.  It looks like an inn and is very claustrophobic in the hallways and rooms.  My brother had a wedding in La Jolla and he picked this place because it was close to his wedding venue.
Pros:  the front desk staff in the beginning was nice and one lady who saw me using my computer in the lobby offered to print out the maps I was looking up.  Staff in the restaurant were nice.

Cons:  Rooms were tiny.  The whole place felt closed-in.  The stairways are so small only one person can go up and down at a time.  My husband said it was the worst hotel he's ever stayed at.  The air in the room was very very dry.
Because they allow pets the carpets in the hallway smell like wet dog, very musty.
They seem very rigid about NOT returning your money. My sister wanted to cancel her reservation but they wouldn't let her.  My brother couldn't cancel one for another family member either.  The worst part for me was I found out that my mother's suite had a non-working television. I didn't know until the morning we were checking out and I called the front desk.   I wanted a credit for it.  The front desk lady had the NERVE to say, "Well unfortunately, since you did get the room at a discounted rate we can't offer a credit for the tv."  I yelled at her, "Are you KIDDING me?  So, you're saying that if your guest gets a room at a discounted rate, they have to put up with broken equipment? Is that what you're telling me?"  She started backpedaling and then saying, "If you had let us know earlier we could give you a discount."  I told her that my mother doesn't speak much Engish and would not have known to call front desk. Anyway, I was calling her the moment we found out and shouldn't they make sure their rooms aren't broken down?  She wasn't helpful until I told her, "I am telling everyone I know to never stay here and I will be sure to put this terrible customer service in my reviews of this place.  You won't even give a token $20 discount for this problem."  She then said, We can give you a $20 discount.  I said fine.  Why did it take my threatening her with word of mouth reviews for her to do the right thing?
The other terrible thing is that my brother and his bride expressly scheduled a late checkout so that they could come back from the wedding, relax and pack up.  When they got back to the hotel, they found out the hotel had given their suite to someone else!  They had to deal with getting a whole other room for the afternoon.
Small but important point for pregnant guests--the restaurant serves tap water, not filtered water.  San Diego sink water is some of the worst and shouldn't be consumed by pregnant women.
I think their regular rate are somewhere in the 300 or 400's.  Outrageous for this place.  Didn't Sheraton get bought by some company a few years ago?  If this place is any indication, it's really gone downhill.   There's a Hilton down the way that might be better.  DO NOT STAY HERE!

The Sheraton La Jolla is conveniently located near the hi-rise office buildings of La Jolla's business center. It also is next to a shopping mall and the freeway. However, it is sort of hidden away, and has nice low level design and gardens. If you are a Starwood preferred guest, they have a separate wing for you, near the gym and the private lounge (you have to be a Platinum to access the lounge, which requires about 50 nights in the Starwood chains). The upgraded room is nice and spacious and well appointed. Parking is limited and not near your room. Humphrey's is the restaurant, and they have pretty well prepared food and service for a hotel, albeit pricey. But you can alternatively eat at the chain places at the shopping area nearby or drive into La Jolla cove area for other choices. You can usually get this hotel for under $200/night most of the year, usually about $180. For la Jolla, that is not bad. It is not far from the VA or UCSD medical center.
