Review from Laurie N.
San Francisco, CA
I had a nice one-night stay here for work. I loved that the windows opened, and that the shuttered view was immensely green and lush -- and that my room was filled with the sound of the fountain (and some freeway noise, which I don't mind). I slept like a baby. The bed was super comfy and the desk in the room was a good workspace.
The hotel is within walking distance of your standard SoCal strip mall -- Whole Foods, Jamba Juice, Beauty Supply, etc. -- and includes room-key access through a shortcut if you don't want to walk the hill.
Had the same oddities that others experienced -- sticky remote control for the tv, super tight bathroom. Not a big deal. I was a little surprised at the towels though. Face towels and bath towels might as well have been bath matts. Ow.
Nevertheless, staff is friendly, rooms are clean and include fridge, microwave, and Starbucks singles, and everything was comfy. I'd stay here again. -
Review from Alison V.
This hotel looks really nice from the outside. The lobby is fabulous. The front desk people are helpful. My mom and I decided to stay here since the price was right and the location was very close to my step-daughter's house and that's who we were there to visit.
The rooms are a bit dated. The walls are thin and it was easy to hear people talking in the hallways and walking up and down them in the morning. The hallways themselves felt very dated. Well, most of the hotel felt dated.
The room was pretty standard. Two beds. The beds were super comfortable though. The bathroom was decent sized and had good outlets. There was a fridge, coffee maker, and a nice TV. My one *MAJOR* issue with the room was the loudness of the heat/AC. Every time it turned on it was SUPER loud and some nights when I was falling asleep would even wake me up. It was miserable. And it kept kicking on and off, on and off.
I didn't particularly love the slatted blinds since it made it hard to make it super dark in the room. And there weren't any curtains in front of them, so there was really no way to make it totally dark. I'm apparently quite sensitive to light when I sleep (my husband teases me about it all the time) and if I wasn't exhausted every night, it probably would have really bothered me.
Overall, it's a decent place to stay and seems to have a really convenient location in La Jolla. However, if you're looking for luxury, look someplace else. And don't forget you'll be paying for parking here every night! -

3.5 stars
This is a pretty run of the mill Sheraton. It's an older property - from the late 70's by all appearances. Fortunately, it's been renovated, mostly recently roughly five years ago. My Starwood status got us upgraded to suites in their "Executive Building," which unfortunately meant it was farthest from the front desk and closest to the I-5 freeway, which is adjacent. The freeway noise was probably my biggest complaint - the hiss of traffic was constant, even with our doors and windows closed. The room was nice and reasonably spacious, though the TV in our living area didn't work. A small kitchenette with a microwave and mini-fridge were convenient. The Club Lounge was ok, though its breakfast offerings were sub-par. Rhonda, the Club concierge though was very helpful. She arranged for snacks to be delivered to our room when the lounge was be closed for Christmas and she helped us buy tickets to Legoland. Other staff bordered on surly. The fitness center was nice and well-equipped and the interior courtyard was attractively landscaped. All in all it was fine for a trip to LJ with the kids. -

The Sheraton's location and grounds were very nice. The room was a good size but the bathroom was INCREDIBLY small. Only 1 person could be in there at one time with the tub, toilet and sink jammed in together. The fixtures were updated but I am glad I am a smaller person. Bed was very comfortable! I would stay again but only if staying a short while.

Review from Maria C.
My bro had his wedding reception in the ballroom. It was cozy enough for the 150 guests that were in attendance. No cathedral ceilings and the dance floor was really small. The facility was a little dated, but the reception went well and we still had a blast.
The employees who worked the event were amazing and accommodating. Tracy was their wedding coordinator and she made it happen! When we went to the tasting, I mentioned to my bro that I didn't care for one of the sauces they used for the filet. The chef made a special sauce for our filet mignon for bro's reception.
The wedding party took pics along the grounds and the greenery, ponds and bridges made beautiful backdrops for our pics.
We also stayed onsite and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, all our rooms were not in the same building/area which made it difficult for our party to get tog after the reception.
The hotel didn't serve brunch in the restaurant, so our party had to go offsite for Sunday brunch.
Note: They charge for parking. You're better off trying to find parking on Holiday Court somewhere on the hill for free - it's a short walk. -

Costa Mesa, CA
I was here for my weekend test prep course, and got a room for two nights at $119 a night. I guess being a Starwoods Preferred Guest had something to do with it, because they upgraded my basic room to one with a nice view of the pool and garden. The staff here are extremely courteous (front desk, room service, everyone!).
It's sort of strange because the hotel is actually split up into a few buildings, but who cares (the parking lot wraps all the way around, so you can just drive to your building and don't have to walk far at all). Everything is nice and clean, and the hallway/room does not smell like disinfectant. You can open the windows and have a nice breeze from the garden/pool area, and don't even need to use the A/C.
Most importantly? The bed and pillows were very comfy. And so was the little loveseat they had in the room. I actually wanted to stay in my room all day, but of course I couldn't because I wasn't in La Jolla on vacation. :(
Now, why minus one star? I'm almost hesitant to take one star away because everything else was so perfect, but here it is: the in-room dining menu for dinner is very limited (there was a large selection for breakfast, however!).... and the TV remote didn't seem to really want to work (it took some shaking and tapping). That's it! Yes, I could have called room service to get new batteries for the remote... but I'm not going to bother with that at 10PM...
With that aside, I was comfortable and really enjoyed my visit. Will definitely stay here again if I ever need to be back in La Jolla. -

Los Angeles, CA
Two nights in this hotel was a good way to stay La Jolla Village close. At $159/night, the Expedia rate was one of the lowest in this expensive area.
Self parking in their lot is $10/day, and allows for in and outs. There's a restaurant and a bar on the property, as well as a Whole Foods, CVS, Starbucks, and etc. within a few minutes' drive. Oh, and the little liquor store just down the street has an amazing array of wines, beers, drinks, and even chocolates and desserts by the slice in the cold case.
Our first floor room had a view of the pool and jacuzzi, which were basically right outside our room. Foliage between the pool and our windows gave us more privacy to peek out at the pool incognito than the floors above us.
The pool (7am to 10pm) has a cute little waterfall and bridge next to (outside of the) jacuzzi area. It must look realistic because we saw a raccoon run up it when we were in the jacuzzi late one night! Heehee.
I always appreciate a cooled room when I enter, it feels fresher and the air is circulated. In addition, these things made me a happy camper for the weekend:
* Easy parking near our room
* Starbucks coffee pods for the single-cup coffee maker
* Comfy firm king mattress with puffy white bedding and lots of pillows
* Plantation shutters to effectively darken the room
* Loveseat and desk/chair
* Fridge and microwave
* On site restaurant (Humphrey's) has a pretty good breakfast
Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful, so I'd definitely stay here again!Listed in: San Diego area faves!

Beaverton, OR
I have traveled for up to 6 months in past years and this is the type of hotel that makes that life possible even if it is still hard. This Sheraton has comfortable rooms, nice views, good shutters to keep out light, and cowboy warm beds. I haven't tried any food yet, but it is within walking distance to many decent restaurants. It is by far my first choice when visiting UCSD and La Jolla.

San Jose, CA
Good location, right off the freeway and near plenty of restaurants and grocery stores. They gave us early checkin, which was so much appreciated. The room was great, faced the courtyard, close to the spa. Bathroom was small but satisfactory. Major downfall is that parking is an additional $10 a day. Luckily there is plenty of curb parking during the weekend. On checkout I was charged for two days of parking but after a couple conversations it was easily removed. Lovely facility.

I was very clear with the receptionists about NOT parking in the parking lot overnight for a $10 fee. I received my bill this morning and noticed the charge, asked about it and was told it wasn't actually a charge. But when I received my bill via email early this evening there was the charge again, and a $3.99 tv fee! I've now called three times to have both fees removed but was told I'd signed something agreeing to the parking lot fee. I just can't believe it! When did I do that? I recall that the initial receptionist in checking in seemed to be in a hurry, was somewhat rude and inattentive. I'm now asking for a copy of whatever it was I signed. If I did sign it was done without my knowledge as I parked on the street overnight to avoid the fee, just as I said I was going to do. I find the whole experience silly, the water fee, the tv fee, it all just seems to be a con job. On the positive side of things, the room was quiet. At this point I'm not sure if I'd ever stay here again.
*******
After discussing this with the supervisor tonight over the phone it seems I signed something when I first checked in that stated I had agreed to the parking lot fee. I was told at the time that if I didn't want the fee charged I could tell a night receptionist that I'd be parking on the street and thus my charge would be taken away. When I got in from my gig at one in the morning I completely forgot that I was supposed to do this, and parked on the street anyway without checking in. It's just a procedure that is completely unfamiliar to me. She has refunded my water tab and the tv fee and will speak to her general manager about the parking fee. Such a lot of work for $10.... I'm not going to let it mar my otherwise enjoyable night and day in La Jolla. -

I love everything La Jolla. Infact, if I were to find a job there right now, I am uhaul-ing everything come tomorrow!!!
This was going to be home during our stay in La Jolla. The birthday festivities
continues:)
Bathroom has remodeled countertop. The room came with a flat screen tv, a mini fridge & microwave along with coffee maker.
Comfortable bedding with 400+ thread count. Lush lush pillows.
Good size pool & jacuzzi. Friendly reservation staff, helpful bell man, & awesome housekeepers.
Why 3 star? We werent too thrilled about our view of the parking lot:X
I would still return because I really do love everything La Jolla! -

Booked a last minute stay-cation online through the hotel directly and got a room for $109 so it was definitely a DEAL. We tried to check in early but there weren't any rooms available so the front desk, so after waiting a few hours at the pool, they (to our surprise) upgraded us to an Executive Room. Another great thing about staying here is that they give you a discount card to use at their onsite restaurant, Humphrey's, where you get 50% off your bill...so that was another DEAL!
The self parking was $10 a day but we were able to find parking outside on the street so we saved there. As for the pool, it's not as "happening" as we would have liked it to be, but you can order food and drinks through the hotel phone at the pool. The only thing about that is that you have to pay a $2.50 delivery charge and 16% or 18% gratuity each time. So we just ended up walking to the bar (which wasn't a far walk) to get #3 and #4 rounds =)
We would definitely stay here again if we get the same $109 deal as we did that weekend. -
Review from Steven H.
Have stayed here six times over the past five years and have always been happy. Sheraton took it over from Holiday Inn years ago and the property has that 1960's open-air feel to it. The kicker is that it has been fully renovated and the property is lushly landscaped.
As an SPG gold member, they always upgrade me to the back building with the nicest rooms. They are very clean and quiet, are fairly large and the bathrooms have all been updated. I like the little extras like the in-room microwaves, mini-fridges and shoeshine machines, too. Also, the free internet works really well.
As for the people who complain about the $10 parking fee, all I can say is, have you been to LA lately? Ten bucks ain't so bad, folks!
The people at the front desk are also very nice. -

Monterey Park, CA
We booked this room because it was our only option for the UCSD graduation. Everywhere else that was cheaper were fully booked. We booked a room with a king bed with one sofa bed.
It was a definite easy check in, there were no issues whatsoever. We were on the 2nd floor and close enough to the parking but not facing the parking lot. Our room was overlooking the pool. When we first walked into the hallway, it was so musty smelling. My first reaction... what the heck? This is the Sheraton? I thought it was suppose to at least a little fancy. Anyways, We get to our room and a nice large king bed. I then find out how small the sofa bed is. It is smaller than my twin bed at home. WOW. I was like ok whatever it is just for one night. Then I go walking around, they have a nice pool and to my surprise a fitness center! It is not like a full 24 hour fitness but it is good enough. I loved that!
As the night when on, I find out that I forgot a razor and I was not about to pay 10 bucks for a razor at Ralphs. So instead, I decide to call guest services because in their binder it says they have razors. I try to call guest services but every time I called it was BUSY! I tried at least 5 times and it was every darn time. I got fed up and called room service. They immediately transferred me to guest services and like that I request a razor and another blanket. I only asked for 1 razor. They come in a flash second, brought me 3 razors, with shaving cream plus the blanky! Can I say SCORE!?!? Oh and the shaving cream...instantly turns hot, it was pretty cool. From then on, everything was good.
Overall, it was A-OK!
-Give it a try! If you want.
P.S. Complimentary Wi-Fi -

San Francisco, CA
We enjoyed our stay here. The young woman at the front desk gave us a very warm and informative welcome. She gave us a "preferred guest" room which included a room of the small garden/pond and the pool.
The room was cozy and they gave us a $5 discount for each day we passed on cleaning services.
The one star off is for the slow internet connection. Not that I need a connection everywhere I go but this trip I needed a connection to look up some important event info. -

Los Angeles, CA
We stayed here during Comicon weekend, so the rates were outrageously jacked up. Maybe this was why it was the only place that wasn't fully booked. Anyway, the front entrance staff did a lousy job of greeting us. It took us 4 hours to get from LA to San Diego, and the staff attitude just added insult to injury. We arrived in the lobby tired, hungry, and carrying all our luggage and the front desk staff were either on the phone or on the computer and did not have the decency to look up and acknowledge us or tell us that they would assist us in a moment. Then when one of them decided to check us in he acted like we were interrupting something. This was the start of our trip and we were terribly disappointed.
On the flip side, the on-site restaurant was excellent and our waiter was kind and courteous. But I'm rating the hotel. -

Greater Los Angeles, CA
So after staying here a couple times already in a year span, I've learned a few things.
Few tips I am willing to share:
1)The buildings have different room conditions.
2)Request a room away from the parking lot.
3)The same low rate from third party websites are available directly through the hotel. This is the case for many large hotels. It's better to book directly with them. They give you the best possible room and you earn points.
I won't say which bldg is better than another b/c I want to make sure the nicer room is available for me when I need it. Sorry...if you're my friend msg me and I'll let you know. =)
But let me tell you my bathroom wasn't as tight as the picture I see someone posted. It was tight but not that tight. I had a double queen room. Maybe that's why?
My bathroom was newly done with brass trimmings and new countertop with a good amount of space.
They have a fridge and microwave, which is great.
And provides Starbucks coffee.
They even gave me 50% off a visit at Humphreys, their hotel resto.
Free wi-fi and fitness center.
Paying $10 each car overnight didn't seem so bad.
Free guest parking on the street, but it is limited and not guaranteed.
I'm from la...parking is always a bitch and you pay an arm and a leg.
Service was excellent. No complaints.
This place is no luxury resort, but it does it's job and it does it well.
Nice clean rooms and good location at a reasonable price. -

This place would have had a better review if it had a few things... How about an elevator that's not way on the other side of the building, a towel rack on the outside of the shower not inside the shower (that made no sense what so ever), touch me lamps that don't turn on by themselves, and lastly a hallway that doesn't look like the one in "The Shining".
Aside from all that it was clean, had a comfortable bed, friendly staff, prompt room service and good rates! -

Camarillo, CA
We were in town for the AFC Half Marathon and wanted a place that was a short drive to downtown but far enough away to avoid the massive crowds associated with the race. The Sheraton La Jolla fit the bill nicely.
It isn't a fancy hotel, possessing standard amenities like an in-room coffee maker and fridge. The hotel is close enough to a small strip mall for a short walk or last minute necessities from a grocery store. The front desk staff were very nice. The beds maintain their reputation as being incredibly comfortable. All in all, it's what I would expect for a large chain hotel. Parking is a little obscene at $10+ per day, but I expect that with anything tied to the name "La Jolla."
We'd stay again for the right price. -
Review from Shawn D.
Santa Rosa, CA
I was brought to La Jolla due to all of the hotels in SD being sold out for a large medical convention. This hotel seemed nice enough online so I had it booked.
When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly staff member at the bell desk. He took my luggage to my room while I checked in.... he also recommended the fish tacos at the bar which were excellent.
The front desk staff were unbelievably thorough..... and I was off to my room. The grounds were very nice, although it rained the entire time, I could tell the property was well maintained. The gym was nice enough, tread mills and a few light weights.
Someone earlier mentioned about the TV remote control.... funny, that was true for me too, but whatever..... just strange..... great beds though....
Scott at the bar was funny and really does a great job.
Overall, I met AMAZING people, and I'm happy I stayed there! I will definitely return. -
Review from Amik A.
New York, NY
Ahh Sheraton properties. I normally stay at Hyatt hotels, the service and quality is always fantastic. But when a Hyatt is not an option, I usually got with a Sheraton. So here is a review for the Sheraton La Jolla. First the good. The bed's are VERY comfortable, or at least they were in my room. I slept very well. Other perks include free Wi-Fi access and Starbucks coffee and tea. Touch sensitive lamps are an unexpected convenience. Breakfast was pretty damn good in the restaurant - Eggs Benedict - very tasty. Now the bad ... the thermostat is impossible to control. If it is on it is too loud and the room is too cold or too hot. I ended up unplugging it after a day since it became so annoying. The design of the bathroom was not done professionally. There is about 1cm of clearance between the door and the toilet when you are entering and existing the bathroom. Basically, its like an airplane. You are either in or out, and if you and your partner are trying to get ready at the same time ... good luck. It will suck. My gf and I had to keep re-positioning ourselves so we could actually prepare; and we are both thin, lanky Asians LOL. Staff was pretty bad at refilling the coffee. Either they forgot to give us regular coffee and just left all decaf. Or left not sugar. Or no creamer. I had to call every single day I was there to have this serviced even after "room-service" had already serviced the room. And when they came by they were still unprepared ... and forgot to bring the creamer or ... yes ... brought shaving cream instead. Not kidding. Umbrella. So the weather in San Diego was poor. Worse than NYC in November. There is an umbrella hanging in each and every closet, but it is small. A one-person umbrella. I went to the front desk and asked for an extra but they said the only umbrellas they had were in the closets. Poor planning on the part of the property for sure. A few other thing, the hotel is close to UCSD and a small strip mall that has a Whole Foods and a few other establishments. But it is in reality, far from anything you really want to do in San Diego. Cab service is TERRIBLE. I had to wait over an hour after the hotel already called one for me. Then they had to call for me again, a second time and put in a priority call. So if you don't have a car, be prepared to pay the price. Public transportation and taxis in San Diego are shit. And if you do have a car ... you'll pay the price too ... parking at the Sheraton is and extra $10 per day. Overall, this is not my first Sheraton property and I've even stayed in what is supposedly the high-end Westin in Shanghai on the Bund. This is pretty much how it always is. But sometimes it's the only option ... I enjoyed my stay but the Sheraton La Jolla still has a lot to work on.

Review from Cindy L.
We arrived at San Diego around 8am, WAY to early to check in or go anywhere since nothing is open yet. However, we took a chance and went to the hotel hoping that they had a lounge or something where we can freshen up. We checked with the receptionist and our room was not ready since they have upgraded us to a suite for my birthday. However, there was a regular room available. So we forgo the suite for a small room just so we can take a nap. It was worth it. We enjoyed the rest of our day more since we got to nap and shower prior to going out.
The room was a traditional room with a queen size bed, television, ice box and table. The bathroom was too small for Sheraton standards, the door opens up to the toilet bowl with less than an inch of space. There was the pool and other amenities, however, we didn't have time to check it out.
The location in La Jolla was great, it was right off the I-5, in between SD Downtown and Legoland. Up the street, there was a strip mall with CVS and Peet's Coffee and Tea, as well as some small restaurants. The hotel has a small parking lot and charges $10 per day, however, you can park right outside the hotel on the street for free. -
Review from Walter M.
So I'm staying here tonight because I'm forced to work two 14 hour days before an audit and to entice me to stay my job is paying for board and catering my meals this weekend.
Although I'm not spending much time here and I checked in after dark I could tell there was a beautiful garden entrance. The staff was great and there is a golf tournament in town so they are pretty booked. It's close to other business' in the area.
The rooms are actually pretty large, but the bathroom was lacking in size. Good amenities, but nothing special. In comparison to other La Jolla hotels I found it slightly better than average because I can tell it's trying so hard to be a true Sheraton rather than a gutted older buy out. -

Lakewood, CA
This place suffers from poor bones. The layout is Holiday Inn-ish. It is right next to the freeway. As has been mentioned, the bathroom is a bit tiny. Here is the upside: rooms are big. Location is fairly convenient if you need to hop on the freeway. If you like white noise, this place is perfect.
So many good places to stay in SD, I would keep on driving, unless the rates are outrageously low. -

Stayed here a couple of times for work and of all the Starwood properties I've been to this one is definitely doesn't have as nice of an aesthetic as the others. It looks more like a converted Raddison than a built from the ground up Sheraton.
Again the rooms are extremely dark but nice to stay in. The hotel bar is pretty dingy but the food at the bar/restaurant is very good.
The fitness center is pretty average with 2 treadmills and some free weights. From a cost perspective it's on the cheaper side which is nice but i guess you get what you pay for. -

The photos look really nice, my experience...not so much.
Pros: Hotels in La Jolla are generally quite pricey and this one wasn't bad at 99.00
The garden and grounds are very pretty.
They have (albeit mediocre) a restaurant on the premises so you don't have to make a special trip to find munchies.
There was a fridge and microwave for your mediocre leftovers. Be grateful.
Cons: The rooms are not nearly as big as they look in the photos.
The shades have a really cool bamboo garden look to them, but in reality they are a peeping-tom dream. If someone stands outside the room they can easily spy in. We checked. Its true.
The bathroom door is about one half a centimeter from hitting the toilet. Not a spacious bathroom AT ALL.
The layout is screwy. Its a maze with no cheese at the end. If you have a lot of luggage you won't need to go to the exercise room afterwards.
Speaking of the exercise room - its hidden in the maze so far away from most rooms that by the time you get there (unless you happen to be in that building) you can turn around and return. Aerobics completed.
The rooms are not soundproof. At. All. Doors banging. Dogs barking. Kids laughing. Glad they are having a good time....sure sounds like it.
The pool is right out in the center of several buildings, so you get the treat of hearing all the people splashing and hooting it up til about 10 pm. Also - a word of warning to the people who are out at the pool - those peeping toms can look in your rooms AND creepily watch you laze by the pool from behind those cool looking shutters. (Yeah....shudder!)
Icing on the cake. The tv in the room wouldn't work. When we tried to speak with the manager he was beyond rude and told us maybe we should have gone somewhere else. Wow. His attitude got better when the (6'3 275 lbs) boyfriend went up to the front to "talk". Apparently they came to terms but still...it was not a fun way to end a long tiring day of travel.
The cons definitely outweigh the pros. I'd steer clear. -

When I'm in La Jolla, I usually stay at the Marriott La Jolla, but this time I wanted to try someplace different.
I did enjoy my stay here. The front desk people were friendly and informative. There's self-parking for $10 with in and out privileges. The hotel is quiet and tucked behind some shopping plazas. You can walk through a gated door in the parking lot to the plaza where Whole Foods and CVS is and across the street from this plaza is another plaza with Ralphs, Trader Joes, Best Buy, and other shops.
The room came with a mini-fridge and microwave which is always a plus. The windows open so that's another plus in my book since we all know how stuffy a hotel room can be.
The Club Lounge is nice too since I can drop by in the morning to grab some breakfast items to-go. The gym was clean and spacious too with updated machinery. The pool area also looks very inviting - too bad it was cold and dreary when I was there.
The one thing I would prefer the hotel doing is slipping the bill under the door the morning of checkout. I'm already rushing as is and don't want to go to the front desk to get a printout, but luckily, with access to the club lounge, the rep there was able to print out my bill as I grab my breakfast. -

We went here for Labor Day weekend. Overall the place was alright. My room was recently renovated and was well equipped with a wet bar, microwave (with a bag ready to pop), refrigerator (that was NOT full of expensive sodas), silver wear, plates, LCD TV, DVD player and even a shoe polish. On another note, you can bring your media player and connect it to the TV and watch your own movies! I despise it when these hotels "lockdown" the tvs so you cannot connect your portable video player to it. The room was a pretty decent size. I don't know how much space people expect from this place but for what you pay, you get a good size. They even give you one bottled water free! No way! Seriously free water. New concept!
Oh and a note to the hotel, THROW THOSE UGLY TV ARMOIRS OUT! They make your place look dated and bulky.
I suppose timing has a good deal with going here. Unfortunately we went here when there was a children's soccer tournament. This means that there were kids everywhere for better or worse. For me, that would be the latter. The parking isn't that great if you come in late, so be prepared for that. There are a couple of places you can walk to so you will be needing your car to get around. Thankfully everything is within 5 minutes of driving. Oh and this place is cool with pets. I think they just charge you $40 for your pooch to stay.
This place really is a good value, but it isn't that cool or trendy. -

You know...they get an A in my book.
I found a great deal for a $99 dollar room plus $10 for parking. I called after my reservations were booked online to see if we could get dibs on a room with a view (it's not garunteed but why not ask for dibs!)
We arrived and lucked out- the last room w a view! We opened our door and heard a Heellllllooooooo??????? coming from inside. My friend walked in and the lady in the room was like "hi, there's a bug in the bathroom" and he was like "ok?, are you guys staying in this room with us?" we all burst out laughing because they had given the room to two parties! Thankfully, they were dressed and thought we were the people coming to catch the bug! We called the front desk from their room and they apologized profusly and promised to make up for it. THEY DID. We were upgraded to an amazing suite and they were so awesome about the whole thing. They called later to make sure we were happy with the room, told us anything we needed they could do! We had them print directions for us several times while we would get ready and they were ready when we picked them up at the front desk.
Mistakes happen but it's how companies handle it and fix it that really earn my respect. I will not hesitate to stay with them again. Plus the location was beautiful and close to a lot of convenient shopping.
besides, the gross comfort inn a few minutes away wanted $150 bucks for a crummy, gross room! I don't think so! I am a firm believer in upgrading and saving money. -

Great location, especially if you are doing something at UCSD. We stayed here to take the MPRE at UCSD. Walking distance to CVS, other businesses, and restaurants.
The service is really good. Very friendly and attentive.
The room is a good size, clean, and updated. It comes with a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker with starbucks coffee, and a huge flat screen. The desk is also great for working or studying.
Only bad thing about the place is that the walls are thin - you can hear people in the hallway, in the next room, and you can hear the toilets flushing and the showers running.
$10 for overnight parking. -

Definitely not a high end, ritzy hotel but I can't complain because our room was reasonably priced and pretty comfy. We were promptly checked in along with a complimentary chocolate chip cookie. I'm such a sucker for sweets...it wouldn't have mattered if I found urine stains on the walls because I was a happy camper with my cookie.
king sized bed, cable, microwave, refrigerator and a breath-taking view of the parking lot---you know I went ALL OUT. -

This place does *not* look like the photos on the website. hahah. As the taxi pulled up to the hotel, I was like, "Are you sure this is the right Sheraton??" He had explained the hotel used to be a Residence Inn.
You check in at the lobby and they give you this ridiculously complicated map and try to show you where your room is. There are buildings A, B, C, D, E, maybe more. You have to walk back outside to get to your room. It's quite a trek, luckily we didn't have much luggage. It would suck if it rained. I guess it doesn't rain *that* much in San Diego, so it doesn't pose much of a problem. As I'm walking, I'm thinking...this doesn't even really look like a hotel at all. It was just a bit...strange.
Another weird thing...our room number is in the 700s, and it's on the first level. There are only two floors. Hahah. Weird. As you walk into the building, it totally looks like a crappy motel. I was totally scared of the room situation. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
Beds are comfy, nice decorations, small LG flat screen, microwave, coffee maker, and wireless internet access. Not bad!
The garden area/pool is pretty nice. Another plus is their restaurant, Humphrey's. We had breakfast there and it was pretty tasty! They had a great sourdough breakfast sandwich and they cooked my over medium eggs perfectly!!

Nice! Came here this past weekend for a friends birthday w/ a couple others. My friend that booked the room is a Starwood Preferred Guest and she had enough hotel points to get our room for free so that was extra nice. We checked in late Friday and stayed til Sunday. The suite was nice and spacious. Two beds, a pretty nice sized bathroom, a small kitchen area, living space area, and a patio. It was clean and comfy. Also, because she was a preferred guest we had access to the Club Lounge where you can get free sodas/water and tea/coffee. On Sunday we also got 2 free breakfasts! Good stuff.
The location was another good thing about this place. Close to the freeways, close to the beach, and very close to food places and a shopping center w/ CVS, the bank, and a few other things. I didn't go to the pool area but my friends did and enjoyed their time there. It was a nice place to stay for what we wanted to do. The only sucky thing is that you have to pay $10/day for parking! Boo on that. -

This is nice jewel nestled in a very quiet area. The lush vegetation around the newer tower makes it feel islandy.

Well I have to honestly say that I did have a pretty good experience this past weekend here...just came down to La Jolla - SD area for the weekend on a spur of the moment trip and decided to check this spot out. Had no reservations but the front desk was kind enough to kind look up their rates and even gave us their online discounted rate of $159 a night as opposed to the AAA discount rate which was $209...WTH?
Even better was that they were nice enough to check me in early because they had a king size, non-smoking room overlooking the garden area! So instead of the usual 3pm check in I got to unload my travel bag and relax at 11am! WOOHOO..took a nap before checking out the rest of La Jolla and I still had plenty of time for the sights.
King sized bed, cable, microwave, mini-fridge, and even a personal sized coffee maker serving nothing but the best...Starbucks! Flat screen tv, love seat...the room I definitely have to say was very spacious.
Cons: The bathroom was very small and tight...you definitely couldn't have more than 1 person in there at a time..as the door swings right into the toilet..I think it would be better if they had a sliding door instead...
Overall it was a nice location, conveniently near the freeways and very close to all that's around La Jolla so you can cruise around. Had a comfortable night's rest! -

Every so often, I take one for the team--that's all of you--and tell embarrassing stories about my experiences to save you from having your own embarrassing (and in this case, itchy) stories. This is one such review.
Minus the stories, this is a 2ish, maybe 2.5ish, establishment. The grounds are quite nice, very nicely manicured, resorty. The rooms are rennovated, in that new coat of paint way, not remodeled. The bed is very comfortable (but the caveats are key!). That's it for nice.
Here goes the rest:
*The place feels like a motel. Buildings have interior entrances, but the door was never locked, and once was propped open by some chain smoking guests. Classy!
*The hallway has an cave-like low ceiling and almost no lighting. Eerie!
*The bathroom was heinious, but funny! To make the door close around the toilet--I kid you not--they cut a wedge out of the door. The bathroom was so small you could not put a bathmat down between the toilet and the door. This led to unfortunate puddling, which led to quite an embarrassing slip on my part, which led me to smack my arm so hard on the (obviously quite nearby) granite counter I thought it was broken. It's ok, I was able to move it again after 24 hours.
*The toiletries were junk and the cookies were stale. There is no free water, like one reviewer suggested.
*The room was pitch dark. This was a first floor room. I didn't know about the Starwood upgrade--nobody asked if I was a member--I am. Thanks for the nice, $210 non-upgraded room, probably the worst you had. Really appreciate you going the extra mile to give me what I deserve.
*Oh, thanks for calling us repeatedly after our check in to see how we were. I didn't need my nap, naps are for loosers.
*And the best part, the crowning glory that gives this a one star....I woke up wondering why I had kicked off all the covers. Several hours later, I found my legs covered in welts, itchy, disgusting, gigantic welts. Yes, people, I was (embarrassing story number two) attacked by bed bugs, or maybe fleas. Since the resurgence of bed bugs around the world 5-10 years ago, I've stayed in no fewer than 200 hotel rooms around the world, some of them rather shaddy. Not once have I been attacked by the bastards.
Once I am done itching (apparently bed bug bites itch for several days and often scar--who knew!), I am writing the damn Sheraton and demanding my money back.

I should have re-thought staying at the Hyatt- and put my bet on this beauty! I stayed here years ago with my family and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but decided to change it up a bit and stay at the Hyatt instead this trip. BIG mistake.
Parking is only a 10 dollar, flat rate (added to the room) charge per night. Free (good) breakfast, AND... (drumroll please)... free wireless in the rooms! That's how it should be. Take that, Hyatt.
Now attending a training course at the Sheraton. Staff is friendly, attentive (even offered to change out a 100 gladly, although it was difficult for them to make change). And their starbucks coffee is fantastic, and did I mention complimentary? -

We decided to take a weekend trip to La Jolla for my birthday. My boyfriend choose this place from Expedia because i guess it had pretty good reviews. Upon entering there is a lot of trees, but a very welcoming entrance. The lobby was really nice with beautiful marble floors. When we checked in they gave us sugar cookies which were still warm! And they also gave us a 50% of at there restaurant, but it had a lot of restrictions and was very pricey so we didn't dine there. The outside looks very dated, but when we entered our room it was very modern and smelled great. There is a fridge and microwave and they have Starbucks coffee! No mini bar though =( The TV is a flat panel but the channels were kinda fuzzy.
So our first night was really nice we were at the end so we didn't hear anything. The pool was pretty much packed everyday, there were lots of families staying here. (Be prepared for a lot of obnoxious kids...) The garden area is beautiful great for pictures. Our second night we came back from the spa and pulled back the sheets and the was a spider in our bed! I totally freaked out , i was afraid he may have brought his spidey friends. So i called the front and asked for our sheets to be changed they came fairly quickly and changed them. One other thing I wasn't crazy about is that there bathrooms are super tiny, having two people in there at a time would be a challenge.
Overall the service was really prompt and grounds looked good. I would come back only if I found a really good deal because I ended up finding some equally nice hotels for a equal or lower price. Be aware that there is a $200 dollar charge for cancellation if you ordered the room for a website even if its weeks before your stay... -

This Sheraton is definitely on the low end of Sheraton properties. Don't let the pictures fool you, this is an old property. No complaints about the rooms as they've been redone and are fine.
Pros:
- Price, I'd expect you get what you pay for
- Nice rooms once you get inside
- Cool landscaping in the middle, with waterfalls, ponds, etc
- Easy access (through back gate of parking lot) to strip mall next door and easy walk to another strip mall down the street for food/supplies
- Starwood points!
Cons:
- Buildings definitely look old, somewhat bungalow like
- Restaurant and bar area looked dead every night, probably too much competition around
- Other hotels in the immediate area are more conveniently located or have better restaurants -

Spent a weekend here on our way to a VW car show. This place was great! Very clean, great workout room and a roomy jacuzzi. My heart belongs to Sheratons in general so I might be a little biased. Since we were traveling for a car show it was imperative that we get a room where my husband could see his vehicle at all times. The staff at Sheraton was so accommodating to us with this. The hotel is right off the freeway and only a 5 minute drive to the beach. It's located near restaurants and stores too.
