6 reviews for Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites
I really like Nancy W's checklist of this hotel. It's dead-on. (Though I can't relate to the whole Knob Creek situation)
I was shocked to find that the room didn't have wireless internet and that I actually had to pay for access as well (even a crappy, cheap-ass hotel I stayed at in Ft. Worth at least had wireless available - and it was free).
I wouldn't spend the money on the breakfast buffet. Not worth the money. Go to Panera just down the street.
Overall, good service, but the property and amenities itself aren't so good. I won't be running back anytime soon.
I visited this weekend from Chicago for a family member's baby shower and didn't have the best experience.
Pros: (agree with some others) close to highway, nice shower with great pressure, nice bar downstairs, many comfortable couches and chairs to sit on it the various lobbies.
Cons: The bed (it was the pullout bed in the suite) was really uncomfortable, the operator staff was really rude, extremely noisy hotel. I called the operator because the front staff (who were very nice) sent us to the wrong room. The woman on the phone was so rude to me and acted as if I should know where I was going in the hotel (and I know there are at least 3 different elevator banks taking you to different parts of the huge hotel).
Later in the night, we heard music so loud that we couldn't sleep. I called and unfortunately got the same operator. She said the music was from Champps across the street (and we were on the 10th floor- it sounded like it was right above us) and she acted as though I should know that! "Well, of course, the music is coming from Champps and you're on that side of the building." She had a "What do you want ME to do about it?" attitude which really didn't help the situation.
Her attitude alone will keep me from going back.. probably ever to a Sheraton again.
I really do appreciate hotel chains that have a consistent product - especially when you two hotels in the same area. Last time I was in town, I stayed downtown at the Sheraton (upgraded to a suite because they were out of King rooms and because I am a loyal customer), and decided this trip to stay out at Keystone Crossing to be slightly closer to work, and avoid the $25 parking fee at the downtown version.
1 Star - Hotel is in a great location. Easy to freeway, 25 mins. to/from the airport, close to some decent chain restaurants, and a mall if you need that kind of distraction.
1 Star - Free parking
Checked in at 11 p.m. All the King rooms were booked...and no upgrade. Rooms here are nothing like the downtown version. Small rooms (think NY small), and don't look they have been updated at all in the past 5ish years. The TV in the room is so old the welcome screen from the Hotel TV menu has been burned into the screen (i.e. when turned off, you can still see it on the screen)...and either not noticed, or no one cares to replace.
Next time I'm in town, I'll stay downtown...stick with the consistent one.
I'm not a connaisseur of mid-range hotels, but I can confirm that the rooms and service here are standard for Sheraton (ie, mediocre but consistent).
As noted in another review, this location has better public space than most; this is a decent place to get some work done in the lobby/bar/restaurant. Outlets are available, wifi is free (in the public areas), and it's generally pretty quiet.
Great location (connected to a high end mall with Saks etc..) and close to a lot of decent restaurants. I appreciated the great service, especially in the concierges lounge. Didn't get a chance to try out the gym, but they have a deal with the Ballys next door (which is also connected)
All in all I enjoyed my stay. Definitely try out the bed when you first get there though because the first room I had, had a horrible bed with springs popping out. This is one of the things I check for as I travel frequently and there is nothing worse than a night without sleep.
The Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites is located at Keystone at the Crossing next to the Fashion Mall, a combination of (mostly) upscale stores and higher-end chain restaurants. It's on 465 N so it's easy and quasi-quick to get to the airport, about 30 minutes away in non-commute times. For my purposes, the location was perfect, just across a man-made lake (formerly a quarry) from the company I was visiting.
As a business traveler, I care about the following:
Cleanliness - not so much. The rooms and hallways are dingy-ish and the hotel badly needs an overall remodel the main floor public spaces are very well kept;
A good bed - check;
Excellent hot water - check;
Good water pressure - YES with a fantastic shower head - just powerful enough to clear out the remainder of the Knob Creeks I consumed on Tuesday night;
Decent bathtub for those post-client therapeutic baths - eh, not so good;
Fast Internet - as long as you shell out 9.95 per 24 hours;
A work desk - the large table was great, but the chair was HORRID; and
Room service/food - the room service servers were great but the food sucked.
The bartender was great, too.
All-in-all, the people at this Sheraton provide excellent service, but the property and especially the food are not so good. Stay at the Marriott (also on the 'lake') if you can. I think the room prices are comparable and according to one of my co-workers, it's more up-to-date and has a decent restaurant.
