4 reviews for Sheraton Hartford Hotel
This is my second time staying at this Sheraton, and the front desk staff is hugely unhelpful. Sure, they're dressed up to look all professional, but their body language and the inflection of their well-rehearsed check-in schpiels show that they are hugely inconvenienced.
Anyway, I don't want to judge a hotel on that alone, so here's a quick breakdown:
Pros:
Awesome water pressure in the showers
Consistently hot water
Coffee in the rooms (Starbucks) with actual half-and-half
Free bottle of water (though this just might be for Starwood Preferred Guests)
Speedy and tasty room service til 11pm (even on Sundays)
Really, really tasty strawberry shortcake
Super-comfy beds
Silent but effective bathroom fan
Fluffy bathrobe in the closet
No foreign pubes in the bathroom
Cons:
Morons at the front desk
'Net access is $9.99 per day through iBahn
No food (other than hotel food) within walking distance
Old water damage / warped wood / cracked paint on the bathroom doors and molding (no big deal)
I typically like the Sheraton brand o' hotels, but this one isn't the best I've stayed in.

I've stayed at this Sheraton 4 or 5 times, but not by choice - I've sold my soul to Starwood and this is the only property in the downtown Hartford area.
Jill's assessment is right on. One more pro:
- the employees who staff the club room for the morning continental breakfast are often very pleasant
And at the risk of being a Debbie Downer, other cons include the following:
- a big-ass tube TV that frequently gets poor reception (umm, any chance the property will be upgrading to HDTVs in the next decade?)
- a bite-size gym (it's almost as if they're trying to convey to their guests that exercise is discouraged)
- although it's only a short drive from downtown and the western suburbs, the hotel's location in East Hartford is not exactly ideal.
I'll probably continue staying here, but will bolt at the first opportunity if/when Starwood takes over another property in the area.
My stay here was flawless. The rooms were gorgeous. Like Jill pointed out the shower head is phenomenal and their king size beds are the best. It's far from perfect but its amenities like the huge swimming pool and beautiful surrounding city make it much better than an average hotel.
This is most definitely the worst Sheraton I've ever stayed in BUT they realyl took my complaint seriously. Apparently, they've been having some problems with service and construction here, but after I sent a fairly detailed complaint, they basically refunded a night's stay. This is the first time I've ever asked for a partial refund on a room, so I was pretty impressed that they cared. I will definitely be more open-minded about this chain in the future.
