the only reason for staying here was because of a conference.  if given the choice i would have rather stayed at a hotel inside the city, but the commute out this way in the morning would just be brutal.  just going to a friend's house in near the panhandle took over an hour between the shuttle, bart, and a bus switch.  having a car would have not been easier either so staying at the sheraton gateway made sense.
like most of the airport hotels, they have a free shuttle service from sfo to the hotel about every 20 minutes.  no need to have a car, the bart station can whisk you away to the city from the international terminal for about $16 round trip.  most of the staff is definitely friendly and helpful, though cannot be said for all the staff that i encountered.  the rooms are bright, clean, and looks like something out of the ikea design center.  some things were definitely a disappointment- the in room internet was a pain to set up (and $10 a day) and the pillows smelled like dry cleaning chemicals.  and while it was a nice looking room, there is a serious design flaw in the bathroom.  the toilet is way too close to the tub and much too far away from the toilet paper roll.  i had to lean and stretch- thank god for yoga.
i was pleasantly surprised with this hotel, though if given the choice i doubt i would stay here again.  the only reason for staying here was purely for convenience and that is what i got.

A very nice Sheraton for being an airport hotel. The rooms especially were designed well and spaciously. The staff was A-OK and they acted as if they were at St Regis (even the staff there was friendlier and less snobby).

The shuttle takes forever to pick up from the hotel and the location is obviously not an advantage here.

Great place, we had a great stay! We attended a party that was thrown here and were impressed at how nice it was. This place sooooo doesn't feel like an airport hotel. The rooms were very pretty, seemed like they had recently been remodeled. The guys at the front desk were all very good looking and very nice ;)
The only this a little confusing was the parking arrangements.

When I stayed here I had a great time! The hotel is located in a good spot in my opinion because it's far enough outside of SF to calm you down from the day's events and it's located on (or near, I can't remember) water. I walked around the grounds around sunset to look at everything and watch the planes coming in.

Speaking of planes, the word airport is in the title  of the hotel so I'm sure some will be bothered by the sound of planes coming in and going out all day but it didn't get to me. One maaaajor reason for this: The bed in my room was THE most comfortable bed I have ever slept on in my entire life. I slept more soundly in that bed than I ever had before. I woke up in the exact same spot, position, and pose I had laid down in the night before. I am almost positive I didn't move once I was so comfortable. I was actually excited to go to sleep the next night.

The room was always clean and comfy.

I docked one star because the self-parking was really expensive, I think like $16 a night and when you're staying this far outside SF you kind of need a car.

I just want to add that the restaurant at this hotel is decent.I didn't have the pleasure of dining in,but got a peek at the area and thought it was clean and a decent set up with a bar .

This update is about "Windows on the Bay" hotel service.

The Snake River Kobe Beef Burger was decent...somewhat pricey, but edible. It did come with fries, very skinny fries..you know the "skinny",like those pants that people wear that wrap around those skinny little ankles.

The breakfast menu offers many options. We decided to get the steak and eggs which was quite tasty and had flavor. The dish came with potatoes and again might be a little pricey for some, but we didn't get sick.

Overall,I like this Sheraton for the service, food and comfy atmosphere.

All the other reviews are pretty much spot on. The hotel is located conveniently enough near SFO and the San Mateo Event Center where I needed to be. I have always had a great experience at the Sheraton, but something about this place did not rub me the right way.

First the staff is somewhat rude, I don't know if they are horse whipped there or if the hotel manager is a jerk but nobody seemed cheerful at all. Second they nickel and dime you here, the drinks are over priced (understandable), the in room waters cost money (usually free at the sheraton) and parking is 18 dollars per night. Free at other airport hotels in the vicinity.

The location is pretty sweet though as the rooms will typically have a bay view, which saved this hotel from a 2 star review.

The dog and I had a really good experience at this Sheraton.  The location is nice, along the bay trail, on a lagoon, close to the airport and downtown Burlingame.

The front desk staff was impersonal but not rude and fixed a billing error in all of five seconds.  The lobby and other public areas are nicely done and the elevators (all 5) were in great order.

The room was big and private, clean (expect the external windows), had a great comfy bed,  a spacious bathroom and large TV.  Room service arrived quickly and was very passable.  The windows seemed about noise proof but can also be opened , yay, fresh air in a hotel.

Add a very dog friendly policy (80 pounds) and we had a hit.

I would happily stay here again - kind of has something for everyone (even the dog) and rates well above most airport hotels in the same price range.

Don't be fooled by the FOUR star identification.  Who decides that anyways?

Well they are wrong in my book.

This particular Sheraton falls in the same category as the Holiday Inn.

Why you ask?

-ONE valet guy.
-Receptionists are frigid.
-Outdated fitness room, you know, w/metal dumbbells.
-Disgusting indoor pool, similar to a 24hr fitness.
-Creaky slow elevators.
-Room service was hard to reach.

Upside: The room is fairly updated w/a flatscreen and Bliss for Sheraton products.

Except for this one guy, the staff here was not helpful at all.  Valet is a joke, if they didn't lose your ticket, they couldn't find your keys.  The food is meager at best.  But I digress.

The rooms are clean and pretty modern and cool actually.  I didn't get to use the gym or pool, unfortunately, but they have both available.  Oh sorry, the bartender is nice and they have TV's (whoo).

On the breakfast menu they claim their Belgian Waffle is "The Best in the Bay" and it's quite tasty.  Considering I haven't had any other Belgian Waffles in the Bay Area - I suppose they'll continue to hold their pole position in my book.

"Rude Staff"

Stayed 3  nights here. Rooms very cleaning. Parking was not good. At the time they had no valet parking. It was self park only and a long walk away. Plus self parking here is pricey. Staff was Cold not friendly, and at times somewhat rude. Room service was excellent. Nice Decor. Updated Hotel. Location A little far from San Francisco main areas.

Cleanliness  10.00
Staff  4.00

For another short stay, I'll go back to this Sheraton.

Stayed on the 13th floor with an awesome view of the bay.  Rooms are 70% updated.  Nice decor, flat screen, comfy fall into bed. They need to update the bathroom shower/tubs and install exhaust fans in the bathroom.  While the hotel looks posh inside it's guest rooms and lobby, it's age can be seen in the fitness room and elevators.  Quite frankly, if I plan on continuing my workout regimen while I travel, I don't depend on the fitness facilities provided by the hotel.  Their stair stepper and elliptical was acceptable for my needs.

-no fridges in the rooms, but most hotels don't offer this as a standard.  If you want a fridge, state that you need one for your insulin while making your reservations.
-parking is $18 with in/out privileges.

Given the name recognition and the rate, I expected Sheraton to be better than other lesser known hotels nearby.

For one, to get the free access for internet in the lobby, I had to get several different codes from the registration desk. Even after the code that worked, every time I closed the web browser, I had to log in through the Sheraton webpage again. It got so troublesome, I eventually had to drive by neighboring hotel lobby to get "free" access to the internet.

The room lacked refrigerator. To keep things chilled (water, soda, a bottle of wine), I had to constantly visit the ice machine.

I also requested the room to have open view. For almost $200 a night, I expected to have unobstructed view. Instead I got a room with half the view looking straight at concrete wall. Of course, request to change the room met with simple "no."

The parking overnight is $18 a night which I wasn't aware until I arrived at the hotel.

I visited several of my colleagues staying neighboring hotels. I was paying the highest rate, yet I cannot rate Sheraton any higher than the average among the five hotels I visited.

Lastly, when I stepped up to the registration desk on the first day, I don't recall seeing any smile.

The only nice thing I can say about Sheraton was the big screen plasma TV on the wall. However, I would rather have a refrigerator with cold beverages and pleasant feeling of welcome.

This review is for the Windows on the Bay restaurant.

We had Thanksgiving brunch here yesterday.  It was $40 for adults and $30 for seniors.  The buffet has a smaller selection than it used to, but for the price it's an ok deal.  It's best if you come hungry though.   The pumpkin soup was good, albeit a bit too thick.  There wasn't much of a salad selection, it was mostly hot foods.  The desserts were nice though.  Service was a bit inconsistent.

I'm torn.  Completely torn.  This SO has the potential of getting the 'fourth star bump' from me, save one thing...

THEY CHARGE $10 BUCKS FOR INTERNET!!!!

Even the shitty little two star hotels throw in free WiFi.  Get with the program, Sheraton!

I'm not cheap, and neither was the room.  Any hotel over the $100 dollar mark should not be nickle and diming their business clientele.  Next time I'm trying the Marriott.

Four stars given the price I paid, which was $60 + tax from Priceline per night ($75 total). The rooms are recently remodeled and very luxurious, with cherry wood panels galore and a 42" flat screen TV mounted to a cherry wall unit. The bathroom sink was very modern and smart looking, although a bit too high. My kids couldn't wash their hands with their portable stool. The room and bathroom sizes were standard hotel fare, nothing special there. The bedding was nice and luxurious as well, but the bed itself was a bit soft and probably old.

We were on the 10th floor and had an excellent view of the 101 and airport. They provided starbucks coffee in the room with the personal pod type coffeemakers. The cream must have been sitting there for months because it tasted like monkey pee pee and I had to dump it. I made a 2nd cup without cream and it tasted ok.

The lobby is nice enough and very spacious. Tons of flat panel TVs adorn the walls and were all showing runway models as if to give me the impression I had been transformed to Milan.

The check in guy was polite, efficient, and all business. The bellhop was nice and friendly.

The big negative was the $18 a day parking fee for guests. A bit steep and nickel dimey. Also the internet access was not free even though I didn't really need it for the weekend. I didn't get a chance to check out the pool and gym, but heard the pool was on the small side.

If you can swing a priceline deal, this place is the shiznit!

I tend to not be a big fan of airport hotels. I'd rather stay near where the action is, and that says cities, not rim zones. That said, last night, after the panel at PARC, and given my flight out this morning, I knew I wanted to be closer to the airport than further away.

The Sheraton Gateway is perfect for that. If you're going to check in after 10, sleep, and leave before 8, you can't beat this location. There's not a lot nearby, it's not even adjacent to the airport -- you still have to hit the 101 -- and even though the rooms are awesome, you won't be there long enough to enjoy them, really.

I parked the car, checked in, checked email, caught some z's, woke up, checked up, and left. And I had a better TV than I have in my downtown Chicago hotel tonight.

The staff was helpful, the layout easy to figure out, and the location hard to beat.

Can't imagine staying here for more than one night, though.

This is definitely one of the 10 nicest hotels on the Burlingame Airport strip.  We recently stayed here on staycation, and we had a great time.  Our room featured a lovely view of a MeeVee building.  the hotel's air conditioning, and we could even see  a little bit of the Bay!  They were very nice to our Dog, and we had a nice time on the Dog floor.  The Gym was serviceable, and also probably one of the 10 nicest hotel gyms in Burliingame.   18 dollars for parking though?  Ouch!  Seems like insurance for priceline.  We ordered room service one night and it was tasty!  The Spaghetti and Meatballs were worth every cent of the 6 dollar price, and we found similar value in the   8 dollar Thai Wings.... The Cobb Salad didn't make the Cobb hall of fame, but it was still servicable.
This hotel is a legitimate 3 star 4 star hotel, and don't let anyone tell you any different!   I swear that made sense when I wrote it.

Parking is something like $9 per day. The rooms are all fairly nice. Beds are comfy. There's free wifi in the hotel lobby but it's $10.95 for each day in the room or $45 or so for 5 days? Expensive. Room service food is pretty good, but I prefer to eat out.

The inconvenient thing about the location is the lack of southbound 101 onramp. You either have to 1) go south on Bayshore and get on 101 at 3rd Avenue, 2) go over the green bridge at Peninsula and drive along the dead wall and get on at Poplar or 3) go north to Broadway and get on by Rector's.

Getting to the Sheraton is fairly easy and there are many exits you can take: Dore Avenue, Peninsula Avenue, Anza Blvd, Broadway.

I went here for Easter Brunch...and was very impressed...
They had a narrow assortment of food... from freshly made waffles, omelette station, prime rib, to large cocktail shrimp...
Honestly it was just enough...
I enjoyed the mimosas... and the waffles are to die for...
You definitely will enjoy the food... just dont expect an ocean view or spectacular dining area....
The food is good and the service is nice...
Did I mention that the waffles were great and melt in your mouth... im going back just to have these...

I really liked this hotel, but only when staying on the client's coin.  Parking is expensive ($10+/day), internet is expensive ($10+/day).  However!  The front desk service is good.  Be nice to them, they'll be nice to you.  They haven't been able to do much for me as I would like, but they're nice and well prepared.  I came here every week for a few months.  They noticed my reservations and had a room ready for me the moment I walked in.  I did expect that my frequenting the hotel regularly would have given me some sway with overriding reservations.  Other SPG properties have just let me book in an oversold situation.  Unfortunately, SF is a crowded place and they can't really do much for me.  If it's sold out, I have to look somewhere else.

The hotel isn't really walking distance from much.  Kincaid's restaurant is good, but I've had some unpleasant memories there (not related to the restaurant, per se).  Room service is decent.  Make sure to note that an 18% gratuity is already added!  They used to have this steak sandwich that was amazing, but I think their menu changed to exclude it...

Make sure you try to get a newly renovated room.  It just feels cleaner and nicer.  However, I wouldn't pay for it.  If you have status, ask for a free upgrade, if available.

Standard lounge for you club members, but not much by way of breakfasts.

Not impressed. The hotel is under some renovation based on the bunch of orange traffic stands and yellow warning tape. The parking lot was as well, which made parking the car an interesting task. The hotel is also rather awkward and weird to get to, unless you're familiar with the area/use SFO often and park your car here.

Part of our party was late (Typical Asians.), and other parts of the party made the mistake of coming in early. There was hot water, juice and coffee in the lobby, which was nice. The "hot" water was not so hot, although it looked like the coffee was. I noticed people would try out the juice, but it seems like very few people actually liked it.

When we got to the check in for the buffet, we were told our party had already arrived. I couldn't believe that our family was dumb enough to wait at least 30 minutes without calling each other, and thankfully it turns out the various UC and private university educations were not wasted, because the rest of our relatives had NOT arrived.

I thought the food was uneven. There was a half-hearted attempt at dim sum, although I was skeptical about the way they served the pork buns and dumplings. It seemed rather skimpy as a buffet offering, with not much of the way of veggies, although there was always the salad. I felt a little sick after eating an omlette and stopped after that.

The service was okay. The servers were generally good about taking the plates away, although they tended to just sneak in and place the silverware on the table without saying a word (even an "excuse me" or "can I take your plate?") You also had to order coffee or tea, although I thought they would at least carry around the holders, like they did with the juice and champagne.

One unfortunately server was also drafted to take a picture of our family. He didn't want to do it, because he took the picture without waiting for everyone to be ready, nor did he bother letting us know when he would take the picture the second time.

Parking was complementary today, but I wouldn't come back.

The GF and I stayed one night and we found it adequate. Our room was pleasant and clean. My big complaint is we were on the side overlooking the kitchen and the exhaust fan noise was incredible and we were on the 7th floor. The bed was excellent though and although we had to wait about 10 minutes at the desk for our key, we were treated just fine.

Had a small party honoring my Dad here in one of their banquet rooms. It was really small and could only accommodate 50 people. The parking rotunda outside looked really old and not kept up well. There is plenty of parking but you have to pay a rate. Since we were guests occupying one of the banquet rooms they did give us a considerable discount.
