You know the Excalibur Hotel in Vegas?

Ok, so take that hotel.

Get rid of the booze.

Get rid of the casino.

Get rid of the seafood buffet.

Replace the dirty hookers with dirty business men.

And there you have it, the Sheraton Framingham Hotel.

Magical.

I am here on the regular. I can definitely see why people wouldn't like coming here for a vacation or if they're expecting big things. For business travelers - this place is pretty ok. Most of the rooms have recently been remodeled and the tvs have been updated. They have a decent gym, indoor/outdoor swimming pools, and a wicked friendly staff (if you're friendly with them).
This place definitely gets booked up, so make reservations in advance.

All I wanted for my birthday was a nice trip "back home" in a nice hotel with all the bells and whistles while being close to everything Wayland.  After spending a weekend here, I wanted to kick myself in the ass.  Growing up in the area, I knew of this Sheraton as I would drive past it on many occasions.  From the outside, it looks like a beautiful castle, however, that's pretty much where the beauty ends.

My first complaint, the fact that I had to wait until check in to see if there was any availability of a smoking room.  Had I reserved through them, I'm sure it wouldn't have been a problem.  However, I reserved via http://Priceline.com which in turn I guess put me as a "not so important guest".  The room I reserved originally had a king sized bed.  But because the bf and I didn't want to have to wait for an elevator to take us down 3 flights every time we had a cigarette, we had our hearts set on a smoking room.  We ended up in a room with 2 double beds, a coffee pot, a desk, and TV.  There goes that romantic weekend I had in mind.

As if that wasn't bad enough, my birthday weekend also happened to be the weekend they were holding "Miss New England Teen" or "Miss New England Teen Jr."  We're not too sure, but we do remember seeing a car with "Proud father of Miss New England teen Jr '07" written on the back.  Every time we parked the car, we had to pass the damn car and be reminded.  But if the car didn't remind us, walking into the hotel would.  Every time we went back to the hotel, no matter the time, all you saw were little girls running around wearing little beauty pageant clothes.  Who wants to have a romantic weekend when the possibility that you could produce one of those little girls keeps staring you in the face?!

And no offense Sheraton, but where my was fridge?!  I have stayed in hotels that were less "quality" than a Sheraton, but they sure as heck weren't as stingy!  $15/night to have a fridge brought up to your room.  As if I wasn't already paying enough! Grrrr. Seeing as we were there from Friday evening to Monday morning, it would have been nice to have a fridge to put leftover food in rather than throw it all away.  And we have a habit of taking food back to NJ with us.  We had problems with that too because we didn't have a freezer (even the mini ones in the mini fridges) to get our ice packs cold for our cooler.  I ended up getting ice from the ice machine and by the time we got back to Jersey, half of the sub we brought home had been submerged in some nice tasty hotel ice water and therefore soggy.  Yum.

Parking was a pain too.  Maybe it was because of the beauty pa gent going on, but we always had to park far from the entrance and walk a good distance to get inside.  At least we had Miss New England Teen Jr's dad's car to use as a landmark.  "Ok, there's that car, we only have 200 more feet to go!"

Overall, don't let the outside of this hotel fool you.  It looks like it's going to be a nice hotel, but turns out to be just a real big disappointment.  You'd probably get the same experience at the Motel 6 across the street, but for about $70 cheaper than a night at the Sheraton.

A dump in every sense of the word. Here's what a weekend from hell looks like:

1. They forget the wake-up call.
2. You ask for a stamp and they respond: "We have a mail drop, but we don't carry stamps, and our gift shop doesn't carry stamps. Sorry. I think it's something with the Post Office; they don't allow us to sell stamps.... you could go to the Post Office and get some sir".
3. You can forget using their hotel shuttle-even if your company has an account with this hotel.... "Sorry sir, we sent our driver home for the night... I understand you're stuck at the shuttle terminal waiting for us but there's nothing we can do.... I could give you the number to a cab but I don't have one handy... click". I finally called 411 to find a cab to their property.
4. The entire hotel and conference rooms stunk of paint thinner for the 3 days I was there. This is not the first time I've stayed in a hotel where renovations are taking place.... most properties however tend to keep the toxic fumes down to a minimum.
5. The toilet wouldn't flush because it had no water.... yes.... the toilet had no water. They had to summon an "engineer" to address this issue. On the last day of my stay it was finally fixed.
6. Their restaurant was  filthy and their breakfast selections were straight out of the Sam's Club frozen foods section.
7. They don't have a business  center. This is hotel within 5 minutes of dozens of national corporate headquarters. What they do have is a computer at their gift shop (open from 9am to 9 pm) that has Internet access for something like $2 a minute.

There's a Motel 6 across the street; if you have to travel to Boston for business and have to stay in the Framingham area, please avoid the Sheraton Framingham Hotel at all costs.
