I was at the Sheraton Ferncroft Resort for a conference before the most recent remodeling. There was plenty of space for everyone to set up their exhibits, and to mingle. Like your typical Sheraton, they offer a large parking lot. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

Not sure about now, but the word "Resort" is a strong word to describe this place. It was a bit stuffy, but the beds are comfortable and the rooms are fairly large. Had dinner in the dining room; their kitchen isn't bad. Like your typical Sheraton, you'd really only want to stay here unless you had no other alternatives, or if your event happened to be HELD there.

I recently stayed here for a wedding weekend and probably would not stay again. The price for the wedding block was $149 a night which was pretty high considering the condition of the hotel. The room itself was nothing special, very out of date and in need of a deep cleaning. The carpets were stained, the bathroom tub was moldy. To flush the toilet you had to hold the handle down while it flushed.  The air conditioning smelled nasty and kept cycling on and off all night and was very loud.

There are no fridges to use and the table they have in the room is so long and water stained, it really did nothing for the room except clutter it up. We were there from Fri-Sun and they never came to empty our trash or straighten up the room even though we were out of the room for the majority of Saturday.

We ate in the lounge on Friday and the food was good and the waitress was very attentive. On Sunday we had their buffet which was ok, nothing special and the only option for eggs was scrambled, it was not really worth the $12 p/p.

For $149 a night there are much better options out there.

Came here again for my company's annual conference.  They did some remodeling of the hotel, remodeled and updated the lobby area, added an Internet WIFI area, and a Starbuck's.  Changed the carpets and repainted the hallways of the hotel.  Updated the rooms with new furniture, beds, and flatscreen TV's.  Bathrooms have granite counters and new fixtures.  My room had a jacuzzi, but unfortunately, the knobs were broken off.  The biggest addition is the Coco Keys water park next door.  Hotel is trying to bill itself again as a resort.  The service has improved somewhat, and they are still working on remodeling the fitness center.

In spite of all of this, I can only upgrade it only by a half star.  It seems that they have been doing a remodel for at least 3 years, and they have only got this far.  My impression of these improvements and remodel is only cosmetic.  Speaking with my other coworkers, they also noted that sound insulation between rooms has become worse.  One can hear the next door neighbor snore!  WIFI in the rooms are still spotty.  I was located in the outer Mongolia wing of the hotel, and my wireless reception was spotty.  Better reception towards the center of the hotel.

Stayed here last year on Halloween the night we went to Salem. They offered a shuttle. starbucks in the lobby and coco key in the hotel. It was like a maze in some areas of the hotel, like to get to our room. Rooms were very nice and big enough. Not sure why it's getting bad reviews. Pretty standard.

Thank God a North Shore Tradition is being "revitalized" in 2007! The new Coco Keys Resort and new decor, new chef's and wait staff... she's "rocking again".

this hotel is terrible, stay away!  (what on earth are you doing in this neighborhood anyway?  if you are from elsewhere in the country - do not be fooled - this hotel is NOT in the boston "area".  not accessible to downtown by public transit - like a 40 min ride from the city).

i stayed here for the first time in summer 2008.  it was a totally terrible experience, TERRIBLE.  there was a wedding going on in one of the conference rooms, and our room was directly across from the entrance - directly, i mean we opened our door and THERE was the wedding.  i doubt they appreciated having onlookers so close anymore than we appreciated the noise / hustle bustle.

aside from that - we were excited because tickets to coco key were included with the price of the room.  it's basically all for kids, but they advertise a nice indoor / outdoor jacuzzi.  which was broken.  the changing room in the park also (this is so gross) had poop on the floor - which, is not exactly the hotel's responsibility, but it took a rather long time (10-15mins?) before any hotel staff came to clean up / rope off the area despite numerous people alerting them to the problem.

our room was disgusting.  in the dingy basement, crumbs on floor, mildew-y grouting in bathroom, the fan didn't work so everything in the bathroom was damp and gross.

we complained when we left and they gave us passes for a free stay / free passes to coco key to use within a year.  we don't say no to free, and decided to give them another chance.

we just returned last weekend, the sheraton is now under the new name of crowne plaza - but not much has changed.

buffet breakfast is good, but wicked steep at $14 / adult and is only included in your room if you buy a package deal - room & coco key.  and my coffee cup had stuff in it.  like, jkdjfkldsjfsdl gross stuff.  stuff so gross i don't even want to describe it.
no free wifi (who doesn't have free wifi)
$5 / person to use hotel pool

our room had cheeze-its under the bed... we didn't bring in cheeze-its.  comforter had cigarette burns.  i mean, seriously, this is not a $40 / night motel 8, what is going on here.  bathroom was equally gross in our new room.  the jacuzzi was working, but was unimpressive / not that enjoyable.  luke-warm.  and the park itself is FREEZING cold and the towels they give you are TINY, so walking from one part of the water park to the other was miserable.

    my recommendation:
    1. don't go if you don't have kids
    2. don't go even if you do have kids

boo, this hotel is awful.  how do they get away with being so awful??

If it wasn't for weddings or conferences, this place wouldn't exist. Older property, run-down. Bad service, worse food and the bar was a joke

This is based on the hotel room quality only, as I didn't use their swimming pool, restaurant, and other facilities.

I stayed here for 2 nights, arranged by a tour. At first I was going to give them 3 stars, but by the end of the trip, I had to lower it to 1.5-2 stars.

The room itself was ok as I recall. However, because I was unable to sleep that night, i went downstairs to read. They do have  a nice round table for people to plug in laptops and when i went in the middle of the night it was empty so i read. i also found out they had a few terminals we could use for internet access. However, it was soooo slow. i tried to use it to book a room for my last night closer to town.

I also got stuck int he elevator and i panicked!! After reading the other "negative" posts, I realize others have had experienced similar problems.

As i recall they only had a few floors. I got into the elevator, pressed my floor number, and the elevator goes up to that floor, but the doors won't open. It just stopped. I hit the "open door" key but it won't budge. i started to panick. it was in the middle of hte night. i comtemplated about hitting the 'bell/alarm' but didn't. i hit the button to go back to floor 1 but the same thiing happen. after some time the elevator moved to floor 1 but it would not open the doors. i did have my cell phone with me and although i had very little battery left, I was goiing to call my friend in the West Coast (in the middle of the night) to have them call the FRONT DESK to communicate to them to come rescue me. But anyway, after a few minutes the doors opened by themselves. That was scary. The same thing happened again when i later tried to use it again to get back upstairs.

Also, I thought it was kinda unprofessional that the front desk clerk wasn't on duty in the middle of the night. While i was reading downstairs, a guy passes by and was looking for change and there was nobody at the front desk. Also, if i got stuck in the elevator for a lengthy time, that would have been really scary since nobody was at the front desk. I just think that's bad for emergency purposes.

The hotel iteslf is out in the suburbs and too far. I could not have booked this hotel but since we went with the tour bus, we had transportation. With no traffic it took about 40-45 min to get to this hotel from downtown area.

Another person mentioned how they could call themselves a "resort". Another guest there who lodges in Sheratons frequently said the same thing.

Another guest also added that they charge $5 for the swimming pool usage. If that's so , that's kinda petty I think.

Terrible.  For $145 a night I expect to have a good experience but that was not the case with this hotel.  My friend got married over the weekend and had over 50 people staying here.  First, her parents had an unsatisfactory room and had to switch for another one.  Second, the bride and groom were told 3 different things by the front desk about having signs for the shuttle for the guests.  How hard is it to make a sign?  Third, one of the bridesmaid asked for a room with a king size bed and got double beds instead.  The final straw to the weekend was we got stuck in the elevator (as did other guests through the course of the stay)!!!   When we were finally rescued staff informed us that there was a 10 person maximum (there were 9 of us) as if it was our fault that the elevator got stuck.  Note to staff:  If you guests get stuck in an elevator, APOLOGIZE!  I definitely recommend staying somewhere else.
