8 reviews for Sheraton Bloomington Hotel, Minneapolis South
Every time I stay here, I say to myself, "You have to remember to try somewhere new in Bloomington." This Sheraton used to be a Radisson, and it still seems like a Radisson, but at a Sheraton price.
The decor is outdated and the structure of building the rooms around courtyards makes for a noisy environment. Especially when groups are encouraged to hold receptions in those courtyards. My room was by the elevator which was quite loud, and the convention being held 4 floors below didn't help.
The gym has cool machines (love the tv's) and a good mix of cardio and weight equipment but it always seems to be full. I've stayed here a number of times and come to the gym all hours of morning and night and it always seems packed. So they need to expand the gym for sure.
There's something that is not very polished about the service here. Example: I needed to get my car from the valet and had two big bags with me. The valet wasn't in the front (no biggie) so I asked the receptionist at the front desk for help. She directed me to where the bell hop desk is and while I was carting my unwieldy bags over there the bell hop/valet is standing at the desk, watching me. So at this point, I've lugged my two big bags from the front door, to the reception area, to the bell hop desk and back to the front door. In a real four-star hotel, of the valet wasn't there another hotel employee would have stepped in, or the receptionist would have called the valet instead of just telling me to go over there (have I mentioned the bags?) or the valet would have come over to greet me instead of watching me careen across the lobby.
I know this sounds petty but the point is that when you pay for 4-star service you expect to get it. My company pays for a nicer hotel with the understanding that I will be sufficiently refreshed and prepared to do my best at work that day. After a poor night's sleep and a frustrating car-retrieval process I don't think they got their money's worth.
Room service was prompt and there is a very nice selection of healthy meals.
There is a little "cabaret" club near the bar where you can watch drunken business travelers do karaoke. Bonus star.
This Sheraton leaves something to be desired.
I've stayed at a lot of Sheraton's and Westin's and I think that this is the worst of the bunch. It's not horrible, just needs an upgrade. The pool in the middle of the first floor seems a bit odd, yet the workout room was really good!
I had a pretty large room on the concierge level and the service was good, I just wasn't overly impressed. The bed wasn't comfortable, the showers need a massive upgrade and the concierge lounge was lacking.
I'd stay here again because it's an SPG hotel close to my client, but only if the Westin was booked.

I agree it is a bit outdated. It is also takes some maneuvering to find the main entrance. However once I arrived in my room it was very relaxing. However I had a room with a connecting door, and the noise from the TV in that room was like the door was open. Also noise in the hall was quite audible in the room. I heard some conversations I would rather not have heard. The employees were very friendly and helpful. It had a nice flat screen TV.
I booked it through priceline and got a good price.
Had a very comfortable room on the 22nd floor. Not sure if it was because I was simply exhausted, but I slept like a baby. The linens and some decor The "convenience store" area was not the best. I stayed here in July, and bought a magazine, not thinking to check the date. It was from April. When I brought it to the staff's attention, they said they don't do refunds. The staff was very friendly, and overall, I would stay here again. It is confusing, though, that it is referred to as being in "Bloomington" when it is really in Edina, off of Hwy 100.

I've never actually stayed at this hotel, and yet I've spent many many hours of my life here at the sci fi con, Convergence. This is a great hotel for this kind of event, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The building is in need of a makeover, as it's pretty stuck in the 80s for decor. Maybe I actually like that. I don't know. I kind of feel sorry for anyone checking into the hotel anytime in the week following the sci fi convention as it must be an unholy mess to clean up after. Try to avoid checking on the second week in July, I guess.

I've never been to a hotel where they built an indoor pool on the first floor near the check-in area.. until I stayed in this hotel. It was summertime and the rate was less than $100 per night. Rooms were spacious and they certainly keep the hotel shiny and spotless. There were also several meeting rooms. If I had family visiting me here in MN, I am definitely recommending this place. Just a warning though: this hotel is no where near downtown Minneapolis. It sits right off of highway 494 and 100. It is right next to TGIF and Dairy Queen. The nearest mall is Southdale and The Galleria. And then there's Mall of America, which is next to the airport. Also, there's a free shuttle that can take you either to the mall or the airport. You just gotta plan what your daily activities are ahead of time.
This Sheraton has a convenient suburban location near the freeway, not too far out west from Downtown Minneapolis and the MSP airport.
It serves the suburban Bloomfield, Edina and surrounding areas in particular. It is a little bit old, and the time I was there the elevators were acting up. FOr casual food, there is a TGIF in the parking lot adjacent to it. The rooms, service and overall feel of this hotel is average at best. Usually they have pretty good special rates and promotions, even below $100 sometimes. You can drive up Rt 100 a mile to a major mall, where you can find a lot more shopping and dining choices, like Maggiano's Little Italy and other popular choices. The in hotel restaurant is a bit disappointing.

Fabulous place - stayed here for the recent MN Collections Conference and had an absolute blast. Great location - only 15-20 minutes away from MSP (airport) and the MOA (Mall of America) AND a FREE shuttle every hour to the airport and back - great service!! And every two hours was a free shuttle to the mall (but if you were nice to the shuttle drivers, they'd take you along when taking people to the airport, too).
Great location - there was a DQ and TGIF's nearby the hotel - within walking distance (I mean, less than a block!!) - the room was nice - comfy beds and my only complaint was that I had to pay two separate costs for both wireless and internet connection in my room.
