5 reviews for Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel
I would have given this hotel a solid 4 stars if their elevators functioned better. Oh, and if you are a TV channel surfer, this hotel is NOT for you.
This hotel is great for conferences and training. Parking is free and the hotel has a walkway that is connected to the Towson Mall. Its also located to Goucher college. The rooms were clean and quiet and the staff was friendly and accomodating. There is free wireless internet in the room. The amenties were great (Mandarin & Mint Shine by Bliss products). The hotel has a shuttle that will take you anywhere within a 5 mile radius. However, it doesnt run as frequently as you'd like (I think they have one or two shuttles). The restaurant Rain 903 is only OK. We had the breakfast buffet the first morning of the trip and they had run out of food and the choices were limited. It was also not worth the $12.99 price tag. The elevators are very slow and each tower has 2 elevators. It didnt accomodate our class of 166 people well. Also, during one morning, the elevators broke down and we had to walk up and down the emergency stairwell. There is also a delayed response (about 10 seconds) between the remote control and the television. It was quite aggrevating. But other than the elevator and the tv, it was an overall good hotel.

Had to stay here last Saturday. Front desk was courteous and efficient.
That's about the best I can say for this place.
Concierge service is not up to standard. The personnel in the little shop was grumpy & grouchy.
When they renovated the hotel, they should have renovated the staff. Or at least trained them. I think these are some of the most inexperienced people I've ever seen in the service industry. I am just there as a business traveler and don't expect 5 star service, but I like things to be at least average.
Dinner was a sad experience! It had to be one of the coldest nights of the year and they sat us next to the drafty window. Service was excruciatingly slow. The soup we ordered to counteract the chill from the window was served lukewarm and had to be sent back. The salad had no dressing, the waiter never asked us if we wanted coffee or desert, and we had to flag him down to get the check.
Fast forward to Sunday.....ordered a salad for lunch and asked for grilled chicken on top.....again, never got dressing...what's up with that?
The chicken did not taste like chicken (isn't everything supposed to taste like chicken?), apparently they don't clean the grill and it tasted like salmon.
I found the rooms to be cramped, the rug stained, and not very fresh. I just couldn't get over the feeling that the sheets hadn't been changed, bad vibes all around!
There are many other hotels that are just as convenient for my purposes, I won't be making plans to stay there again. I'm glad I don't have to be in that area often, but if I do, I'll stay elsewhere.

During our semi-annual visit to Towson to visit the mother in law, we always end up staying here since it's the best hotel in the area (and that's not saying much). I always dread the Sheraton since it's so drab and boring.
I was pleasantly surprised this time around to find that the entire place had been remodeled. The rooms were much better, beds more comfortable, public areas were all spiffed up, and even the front desk personnel were more helpful and courteous.
Couple of suggestions for them: please please please put mini-bars in the rooms. You also might want to consider having a place to sit outside on those balmy Baltimore nights. We did sit outside a couple of times, but the constant procession of cars going in and out of the garage and the valet weren't exactly conductive to relaxing.

The best part of this hotel, in my opinion, is it's location next door to Goucher college. The hotel is a little below-average for a Starwood property, but has the nice qualities of comfy beds, good hairdryers, and free parking and internet. The negatives are the small exercise room and the worst concierge lounge I've ever experienced. The staff is nice and helpful, and at the time of writing this review, they have a deal with Bally's in the Towson Town Center that you can use the gym for free as a guest in the hotel. But if you're staying here and the weather is nice, I suggest taking a walk/jog around Goucher college. There are deer, a public-use track, and a nice loop around the property to get some fresh air!

Yeah, it looks slightly nice. Rooms are fairly small. Strike of bad luck, there is road construction just under my window during the night, with truck backing up and bipping all the time. Argh. Breakfast is very standard. Garage is free, internet wireless free.
