4 reviews for Shephards
Ok, this place is multifaceted. It is a great spot for spring breakers (day or night)...as well as regular beach-going people, or tourists looking for a good breakfast, lunch or dinner.
I've been for spring break, and if thats when you go.. be prepared for crowds, lots of good live music on the beachbar. They have a nice nightclub 'The Wave' that gets packed late at night. Only bad thing, it boots everyone out at 1:30am. Perfect timing for after-hours in our hotel I guess!
They have a nice indoor restaurant as well..with a large buffet. On the weekends that prices are higher (but you get more)..like wafffles, etc.
I've had the lunch and breakfast buffets during the week (cheaper) as well as the wknd, and loved both. This restaurant turns into a nice bar at night, with a dance area as well. Good spot.
We have a place in the area, and never miss coming to Shephards. Go during the day for ppl watching, and nighttime for drinks and dancing. Clearwater needs more of these!
"For a fun, music-filled day in the sun Shephard's is the place. I've been here 5 times in the last 6 months and I live in Chicago. I visited in April, May and the Labor Day weekend. Each time it gets better and better. Why? I always arrive to find parking waiting for me (OK, not on Labor Day weekend), an ice cold Mojito, some peel and eat shrimp, fun people at nearby tables and dance music. Oh, age range of people is probably 25-45, I've never seen any children here and sadly to say, the crowd is not very diverse. However, the crowd is a nice mix of locals and tourists.
Shephard's bands (which play 7 days a week, I believe) performs from 11:00am-11pm; at end of season that changes to 2pm-11pm. But do not despair because the INDOOR club at Shephard's opens up at 10pm so the party continues on.
During the day, when you're hungry while sitting in the sun...just wave the waitress over and order up lunch. Later in the evening for a real dinner you can either dine off the menu at the fabulous restuarant they have inside or enjoy the buffet which always includes crab legs and an array of fresh seafood.
If sitting in the sun and getting your tan on is not your cuppa tea, just stroll over to the beach front for a swim. Or jump on a boat and go parasailing. While you're waiting for your parasailing launch boat to arrive, cool off in the gulf bay and chat it upwith the folks anchoring their boats near the fun.
By now, after your parasailing, dancing and dining.... the sun must set. And what better place to watch it than here...breathtaking. If you go to Shephard's and don't enjoy yourself....check your pulse, then see your doctor!
P.S....Anyone remember Tone Loc? The "Funky Cold Madina - Wild Thang" guy? He was the featured act at Shephard's this Labor Day weekend 2006. Check my profile for pics!!!

This was a fun place to go with A LOT of food. We spent a considerable amount of time here and enjoyed the live music from inside. Since we spent enough money on the buffet, we were surprised to find out that when we went outside that if we wanted to stay, we'd have to wait in line and pay a cover.
I'd definitely go here again though, and really enjoyed the food. There was a bit of something for everyone - even if you don't want seafood.
I enjoy Shephards except for when it's too hot- there's really no place to cool off. But live music is always enjoyable especially in this peaceful location and direct view of the water.
