Shell Shop the Inc
6 reviews for Shell Shop the Inc
I've been going to the Shell Shop since I was a little kid. I loved it then. I love it now. I took my fiance there and figured he'd be bored since all there are are shells. But boy, was I wrong. He was fascinated! My dad use to tell me random facts about history and geography that related to the shells, so I finally had someone to repeat them all to.
I bought a bunch of random shells of different sizes, colors, textures, shapes, etc. and shared them with my preschool class. They were amazed! This is definitely a great place to take children if you want them to have a memorable experience.
Prices are... okay, I guess. It's hard to compare. There aren't really many shell shops out there. The selection is enormous. I've always wanted to buy one of the puffer fish or shark jaws. Parking is usually okay. There is a private lot for Shell Shop parking only. It can get pretty busy during peak hours of the summer.
If you're on the Embarcadero, take a peek in the Shell Shop. Even if you think you'll be bored to tear, you'll find a lot of interesting things.
I LOVE this shop. The shells are absolutely stunning, and there are shells EVERYWHERE you look.
The place is filled top to bottom with shells from all over the world. They also have jewelry like rings, pendants, and earring for sale from the shells. I bought a gorgeous ring with a black pearl and the white pearl [ying and yang] and about a million other shells to give away as souvenirs and gifts.
The big shells are also beautiful, and when I get my dream home, I will come back to decorate with some of these beautiful shells.
The best part is the price. For a big shell, they run from 40-100 dollars with the stand included. The little ones can go as low as 50 cents!! For that price, you can get presents for everyone without breaking the bank at all.
Yes....count em....FIVE stars for the ultimate shell shop of ALL TIME.
Any and every shell you can think of is here and they will sell it to you.
When I was a little girl we could walk on the beach and get handfuls of sand dollars without a problem...not anymore...so I had to "cheat" and hit The Shell Shop to pick some up.
I have to say it hasn't changed in the 30+ years I have been frequenting it.
I have been coming to this Shell Shop for 30 years. It looks exactly the same today as it did when I was a kid. They have top notch shells. You can't come down to Morro Bay and not stop here.
SHELLS! I know, how can I give 5 stars to a SHELL store? But it's best shell store in all of California.
We come here every time we're visiting and let the kids each pick something out. And I always pick out a special Christmas one for the year. The kids can literally spend an hour here just looking at every single shell they carry.
A nice family tradition each time we're in Morro Bay.
The name says it all....wall to wall, basket after basket of SHELLS. Shells from all over the world. Christmas ornament shells. Shell mobiles and wind chimes. Shell jewelry. Coral and clamshells. Each basket is labeled with the shell name and where it's from. Now call me cynical but some of those shells were too pristine for me to believe that they were really found on a beach in Africa. Definitely a local landmark, this place has been owned by the same family since 1955. It's a unique store, especially compared to the other Embarcadero gift stores selling sweatshirts and keychains. Pretty merchandise, and I'd have given it more stars if I had reason to buy anything.
