Visiting from Los Angeles and my Mother-in-law took us to Shelby's before checking out First Street Gallery.
Had the best iced hazelnut mocha I have ever drank...ever! Alex, is the man! Friendly and very skilled at coffee making!
Also enjoyed a waffle cone of cookies and cream and mint and chip ice cream. Great way to cool off internally in preparation for strolling in Florida humidity!
What a cute little comfy spot in Neptune Beach! They have coffee (of course) and a pretty big menu with plenty of sandwiches, soups, and desserts to fill your tummy with (because a person cannot survive off of coffee alone).
They also have live bands that play outside in the courtyard on weekend nights. Though they close earlier than Coffee Grinder, this is definitely another spot to check out before a night out on the town.
On this particularly chilly day, I ordered a bowl of clam chowder, slice of tira misu ($2 for one that was several days old, $5 for a freshly made one), and cup of cappuccino. http://static.px.yelp....
Clam chowder was OK. Nothing special. Tira misu cake was nice and rich. The cappuccino was hot and creamy with extra froth and chocolate shavings on top.
Shelby's is most likely one of the best coffee bars the beaches area is going to have for a long time. I would imagine that most who rave about it, are comparing it to Starbucks. In that regard it is great. Don't come to Shelby's expecting a Italian experience. This is more of a hipster spot, then a true european coffee place. Make sure to try it out because its quite nice all things considerd.
I think a lot of the hype surrounding Shelby's has made a cult of followers that blow up the ratings of this place. Yea its great coffee, yea its fun, but I'll always have issues paying 4$ for coffee.
3 stars for great coffee, and a good atmosphere. Always go to Shelby's over Starbucks. Normally I would give it 4, but because its expensive, and got kind of a cult surrounding it I'll try to give it strong 3.
Shelby's is the quintessential coffee shop and is a perfect fit for Neptune Beach. Their baristas know how to make a really good cup of coffee. They have a nice variety of live music acts; my favorite has been Acoustic DnA. Friendly staff and great atmosphere to spend an afternoon.
Shelby's is now located a stone's throw from not one but TWO Starbucks locations. Don't make that mistake!
Shelby's is sunny, homey, friendly, and delicious!
Art by local artists on the walls, newspapers for sale, homemade fudge, mix your own bag of jelly bellys, etc, etc.

I just love Shelby's! I love coming here after a long morning walk on the beach. Great place to relax with friends, have some coffee and light food. Although know that I'm not including the crazy fudge that is sold on the other side of Shelby's when talking about light fare!! I do like their bagel sandwiches!
This place has been around awhile. Thats a good thing. I havent been since I last visited. I met my family there for some coffee etc. Before I moved I went quite a bit though. Love it
a great place to grab a coffee, sit outside, &enjoy the ocean breeze!!! if you are at/near the beaches definatly check this place out! go local, so much more enjoyable than the starbucks that have taken over the city!
