I've been going to the Shelby Sexton Salon for over a year now & regularly have my hair cut by Alise Jacobson.  She's the BOMB!  Alise is the first person to ever cut my hair and not make me do the walk of shame to my car w/ a hoodie on!  She's very modest with her cuts and never takes off too much...  She'll continue to ask you how far you want to take it without having her own agenda or doing her own thing.

I used to have very long boring hair, and I came in asking for a very short cut.  Initially I was really nervous because it was such a huge change for me, but she was totally nice & understanding and cut my hair in stages until I felt comfortable enough to go all the way.  

My friends and family LOVE my cut so much that my sister and closest friends are now getting their cuts w/ Alise.  One person drives almost 2 hours just to see her!

Yey, Shelby has her own Salon! She is hip and fabulous!
Shelby used to do my updo's when I was in high school. Then I moved away for a college and had no idea where to find her when I got back. Now I am excited to learn she has her own beautiful shop just down the street from where she used to do my hair.

Congrats Shelby on your new sop!

I have just made my first appointment. I cant wait to write my new review. I know it will be fabulous!

Well, I don't know if I would give this salon 5 stars, but the stylist that worked here certainly deserves them.  Just as the prior reviewer had said, Kelly is an amazing hair stylist.  I am very picky when it comes to my hair, and she has done an amazing job every time I've been to her.  She does what YOU want, and is very knowledgable when it comes to color.  

I phoned recently to make an appointment with her, and an extremely rude woman answered the phone.  Kelly has moved into a different salon, which she did not exactly disclose, but this woman was insistant on my making an appointment with Shelby (the owner).  Having been in and seen Shelby's over- processed hair, I did not make the appointment.  And...I found the woman on the phone insulting.

Anyway... Kelly kept a list of her contacts, and phoned me recently to give me the name of the new place she is working at.   It's called Lisa Marie.  She did my hair last week, and again...she did a great job!  

This salon is not far from the other one, as Lafayette is not a very big place, and it's cute, comfortable, and I highly recommend going to see her there.

I have been loyal to my stylist for several years. However, when my good friend Kelly finished her training at Yosh and started working at this premier salon in the East Bay, I had to support.

The salon is conveniently located in a small shopping center with some great shops and bakeries.

In her short time at the salon, Kelly has already built a reputation for her coloring and highlight skills. She does a lot of color correction work on ladies who have been victimized by other no-so-skilled stylists.

I have long, dark Asian hair. If not done right, color/highlight can look cheap. Kelly did a fantastic job making my hair look bright and fabulous. She spliced both highlight and low light for a more natural look. If you are in the East Bay area and looking for a great stylist give Kelly a call.
(note I am still loyal to my stylist for my cuts..but from now I will only go to Kelly for color)

THE BEST SALON IN THE AREA!!!!  It's in the cozy corner of La Fiesta Square, so right when you walk in, it's comfortable. Plus all the natural light gives the stylists what they need to do color accurately and the salon is painted in cool colors with the hippest decor. The chrome "hair light" right when you walk through the front french doors is so much fun.

The service is the best part though. Shelby really knows how to read hair. I've had many hair disasters in the past, having curly fine hair. Shelby is the only one that I can bring a new idea to, and she gets it right the first time. Best cuts I've ever had and that's given me the courage to try new styles and not get stuck in a rut, because I know every cut Shelby gives me is going to be a good one. Plus, for years I've lightened my hair and it always felt like it looked lightened. Shelby does color so well, it looks so natural and I get compliments on it all the time. Several friends are now going to Shelby as well.

The skin care is also awesome. The aesthetician, Kim, offers the most unique services and can analyze your skin and facial needs better than anyone. You can tell she's passionate about her job. Her caviar collagen facial is amazing!

I'm hooked. No one is touching my hair or skin except for the pros at Shelby Sexton Salon.
