Not to be missed if you're up around Burlington!
Fantastic and unusual collections from yesteryear (17th -20th century) exhibited in a village like setting of preserved New England architecture.

The collections truly are phenomenal.  Shaker furniture and tools, a small collection of impressionist paintings, lots of American Folk Art, decorative arts, crafts, toys, fiber arts, and on and on and on.  I spent 8 hrs scouring this place!  And I didn't even see everything!

You can use your ticket over the course of two days.

Recently,I spent two delight days at the Shelburne Museum. It is really a series of fine, small museums devoted to such subject matter as;American Folk Art(fine paintings by Erastus Field, cigar store sculptings),quilts,American Colonial Furniture(Windsor chairs,Franklin Stoves),Nineteenth Century Vehicles,French Impressionist paintings(fine paintings by Claude Monet,Manet,Degas,Mary Cassatt),Wildlife Art(fine paintings by;Carl Rungius, and Belmore Browne),Nineteenth American Art(fine paintings by Bierstadt,Peto, and Vermonter Charles Heyde),the Ticonderoga Ship, and more.My personal favorites were;the ship,Ticonderoga and Monet's"Drawbridge,Amsterdam".I also appreciated the erudition and enthusiasm of the Shelburne Museum.staff . Admission is twenty dollars, good for two consecutive days.Vermonters get a special discount.Nevertheless,it is very worthwhile.,so much to see and learn.

If you ever get the chance to see an outdoor concert at the Shelburne Museum, don't pass it up! The sound is great, the scenery is beautiful, and the people are low key and nice. It's a mix of locals, college kids, and tourists. Definitely a local flavor place overall though. They have excellent and reasonably priced food during most shows, and the show I was at also had a Magic Hat stand.

This place is especially unique if you are seeing a popular band that you'd have to see from a mile back at most venues. I recently saw Wilco there, and we put our blanket down within twenty feet of the stage. We didn't even get there very early, just in time for the doors to open.

Only downsides: if it rains, there's nowhere to hide really and the only seating is grass. The bathroom lines were also really long. The parking lot is a disaster post-show, so get out early!

We went especially to see the Full Throttle: Vintage Motorcycles, Custom Choppers and Racing Machines.  However, the Tommy Graves "Smackdown" chopper on the brochure really sparked our interest.  Unfortunately, that bike was in Webb Hall and the doors were locked.  That was a disappointment.  It was a rainy day and there were a number of school groups on a field trip.  So, many of the exhibits were full to capacity and we could not get in.  Other buildings were closed for whatever reason.  We were only there for one day, so we could not take advantage of the second day pass with paid admission.  The steamboat Ticonderoga was interesting as was the second floor of the General Store which housed old doctors' offices.  Perhaps a re-visit on a weekday when class trips are not going on is in order.  Next time we would call ahead if there is something specific we want to see to be certain we can actually see it.

The best museum that's dedicated to American folk art.  Awesome collection of 17th century paintings, Shaker furniture.  Wonderful glass collection.  I could go on and on.  When in Vermont, visit the Shelburne.  It's just a short drive outside of Burlington.
