Been carrying around this card in my pocket for almost a month now, so this review is a bit late.  I came here because a friend of a friend (and NOLA compatriots both) lives above this place, and they have a projector in the rear room for important things (like Saints games), which is along one wall completely viewable by all tables.

The first thing i noted when i walked in, was the clean.  Not by any stretch clinical, it has a homey decor and a welcoming want-to-please-you vibe emanates from both the simple restaurant/bar set up and viewable kitchen area, as well as the staff who (against the overwhelming self-involvedness) of (caucasians especially) Brooklyn service all greeted us individually as we entered.

The menu wasn't by text particularly mindblowing food wise, and having dined a few hours earlier (and having the tail-end of a cold) I passed on the dining, ordered a Guinness (by default), and set to the exciting game (and ensuing victory).  The couple we were meeting had already ordered, and after placing the food with a dash of innocent sexism (how dare he assume the GIRL ordered the salad instead of the fries, the jerk!), I made two consecutive and very pleasing discoveries.

FIrstly, there was an aroma creeping its way down the clogged craggy hallway of my breathing passages, and it was delectable!  The cheese wafting off the two hamburgers set at my table was rebooting my flavor sensors, long worn down by the gunk of virus.  It was slightly charred, molten but thick and soft solid- it mightve been I hadn't had dairy in 3 weeks, but that scent grabbed my insides and pulled them back to culinary reality.  Noting that, I pulled back my inner camera and noticed that all their plates were filled with items placed and prepared with care; passion even.  Maybe.

    I wished I was hungry.

The second thing and most important (to me) in gaining that 5th star was my Guinness.  Even bad stale Black is good, but exceptional and tuned Stout is Magic.  The handbook says that it's three pours, three swallows.  My first went down in four, being full and ill, my second was swallowed in two.  The third followed suit and after chatting during close with the bartender, she bought me a fourth which I inhaled in a single pour.  Good Guinness.

So, the staff cares about what they serve, the owners clearly pay attention but don't get in the way, and the clientele didn't seem to suck.  That's a win from me.

I don't often get down to 4th Ave from my perch high atop Park Slope on 8th Ave, but I ventured down to meet some friends for drinks at Sheep Station. The bar was nice and roomy with plenty of available seating around 8PM on a Friday. We had a group of 4 with the possibility of another couple of people joining us. We took a table for 4 and, when the other two arrived, we asked if we could move to a larger table and were told that we couldn't because the manager might get upset.

The beer menu here is decent with good variety. The food is hit or miss. The calamari was excellent with an amazing sweet and spicy sauce that comes with it. My burger was OK but was overcooked. One friend's lamb burger was also overcooked, but another friend said his lamb sandwich was very good. In summary, if you are out for drinks only, or drinks and calamari only, Sheep Station won't be too bad. If you need to do something crazy like move to a new table or order anything besides calamari or a lamb sandwich, you might want to look elsewhere.

Good beer, good food, good atmosphere, didn't break the bank. What more could you want from a bar? Well...except maybe if it could be in Manhattan.

I somehow found myself in Brooklyn - yes, I don't know how I got there. But made the best of it and stumbled into Sheep Station. Stumbled across Sheep's Milk - a wonderful amber ale!! The poutine on the menu reminded me of a trip to Montreal and it did not disappoint. I have to admit that I ended up licking up the gravy after the fries were demolished.

I had the Shearer's Burger (minus beets - I hate beets) and added cheese. How could you not like an amazing burger topped with caramelized onions, the works, and a runny egg! Yum.

    My friend wanted Shepherds Pie.

He would hear of nothing else for dinner.

And so we went on an adventure in search of this not-particularly-elusive meal. We ended up at Sheep Station, and thank the lord for that, because of all the divey Irish pubs offering the same fare this place was far superior. It's decidedly a great place to just relax and have a beer - in addition to, of course, enjoying some delicious Shepherds Pie. We also shared 2 orders of Poutine, because the first order disappeared so quickly nobody seemed to know where it went. Isn't that always how it goes with french fries smothered in cheese and gravy...?

Because I'm old and my memory sucks, I can't remember the names of all the amazing beers we were given to taste. However, the mere fact that we were permitted to taste a variety of brews made me happy. The seasonal "Christmas beer" was my half-pint of choice. They offer half-pints for $3, so you can mix and match beers if you so choose, and two different types of beer for $6 is a great deal. The manager gave us a free round once we were the last table standing (sitting, actually), and he didn't even know I was a Yelper. Good form, good sir!!!

The ambiance is cozy and warm, and I love the rustic feel of the restaurant. The service was excellent, we didn't feel rushed, and we stayed and talked undisturbed until the wee hours of the morn. An excellent establishment not to be overlooked, despite it's off-the-beaten-path location.

Its great to escape Manhattan for a low key bar that had a solid beer list & great/different menu.  It was even better that Brooklyn Boulders recommended us to this spot and we got a discount.

So when we walked into the bar we had 13 ppl and the manager immediately greeted us and explained they had a private party in the back.  We had a few starving people and the front area of the bar didnt look like it had enough space.  After a few minutes, the manager came back and offered us the lounge space in the back where the private party was taking place.  I imagine he asked the private party if we could be there either way it was perfect.

So happy it all worked out b/c we all dove into the food- Poutine was the best I have ever had.  Even my gf who HATES Poutine thought it was delicious.  Every other dish was equally great- the calarmari and oysters.  Then we all got our main dish and everyone was happy- esp the people who got the lamb burgers.  Probably the best burger I have had in a LONG while.

When you serve 13 ppl mistakes will happen, so the server (even though he was guaranteed 20% tip) got us a round of beers on the house.  I wish there were spots like this in the city but it would probalby end up being a mob scene like the other good spots.

This was our second time to dine at Sheep Station.  Our first experience was very pleasant so we decided to return the next day as we are out-of-town travelers and this restaurant is close to our hotel.

I am rating this restaurant with one-star because of the treatment we received upon paying the bill.  My dining companion was an elderly gentleman who has trouble hearing.  We were seated underneath a music speaker so he was having trouble hearing me when he asked me to help pay the bill.

My companion made an honest mistake and gave the waiter named "Angel" $60 instead of the $70.  My companion said, "Keep the change, that's for you," or something like this.

Well the waiter returned with change and said in a very rude, patronizing tone, "I wanted to give this to you so you could see how little you were leaving."

This attitude was highly uncalled for and very inappropriate for a service professional.  It is obvious my companion is elderly.  The restaurant was dark and loud, so an honest mistake may happen when it comes to paying the check.

This was very upsetting to my companion and it was humiliating.  He is a very wealthy, generous, famous Hollywood record producer with multiple gold and platinum albums.  He has no reason to be cheap with a tip and always leaves a generous amount.  So being treated like a cheap skate by a stranger was uncalled for.  My companion fixed the error and left the appropriate amount for a tip.

I was not happy with how the waiter Angel treated my companion, so I decided to confront Angel.  I am a young female Hollywood model so I thought the confrontation coming from me would be less of a blow then coming from my companion.

I decided "kill him with kindness" would be my approach.  I brought up the honest mistake to Angel, but Angel ignored me and wouldn't make eye contact.  So I said to him, "At least you can look at me when I speak to you."  Angel finally looked at me and I explained to him the honest error.  My companion handed him the tip and Angel half-heartedly apologized.  Then we left.

It is a shame this incident occurred since we enjoyed the food so much.  We were planning on dining at Sheep Station for the rest of our stay in Brooklyn, but now we will find a different place to eat.  In addition, we told our hotel how poorly we were treated.  The hotel adores my dining companion (he is a music legend, after all)  and has a lot of respect for the man.  So I have the feeling the hotel won't suggest Sheep Station to their guests.

As a result, Sheep Station lost us as customers as well as any guests at the hotel.  We will also let our friends in town know about our poor treatment.

Angel, I hope it was worth it to you to be rude to my friend.

What a hidden gem!  From the outside, you can't tell that this gastropub serves such amazing Aussie food and unique cocktails.  As a Park Sloper for 3 years, I can't believe this is the first time I went here!  This was my second attempt (first being on Labor Day when it was closed) so I was finally happy to get here.  Yes it is on the quiet 4th avenue, but I highly recommend you trek all the way here because you won't be disappointed!!

First off, we had the grilled shrimp for appetizer and it was amazing! The shrimp was super fresh, prepared simple but full of flavor.  The grilled salmon salad was just as fresh and flavorful.  And wow the shepherd's pie -- let's just say this is the best I've ever had! To top it off, my ginger mojito cocktail really made my day.  Who would have known?

The atmosphere is super chill so it made the dining/drinking experience even better.

As noted in other Yelp reviews, this is cash only!  I really do wish they could put up a sign or even have the courtesy to state that on their menu.  With the ATM fees, there goes my coupon which I had paid for (don't ask why but I won't pay for that coupon book anymore).

I will definitely come back here again.  Must visit.

Alot of folks love this place, but I thought it was just alright... but from the amount of food envy I had when looking at other folks' plates, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. On this first visit, I had their version of a BLT because the waiter raved over it. Unfortunately, it tasted just okay to me... and, I could have easily made the same sandwich at home for pennies instead of paying almost $10 for the Sheep Station rendition! Sure, the thick cut bacon was tasty, but the sandwich was really nothing special at all.

So, what's my final verdict? Well, I liked the atmosphere at Sheep Station, I liked the beer selection, and I wanted to like the food... but I'm not giving up on this place b/c I think I just ordered the wrong thing. I've heard awesome things about their burger and their brunch. So, stay tuned for an updated review from me b/c I plan on giving this place a second shot.

Sheep Station's got a trendier look and feel than your nabe watering hole, def yuppie approved, but it's definitely bar food. Except way better. Came to eat after buying a Groupon for Sheep Station, and real glad I did. I didn't really have any idea what Australian food was, so I was curious for a taste. Well, no kangaroo meat here, but a pretty damn good burger. I was a little hesitant to get the shearer's burger - with beets, pineapple, fried egg, lettuce, tomato, and onions, it sounded like way too many vegetables for my taste - but it ended up being really delicious! Be sure to add the extra Aussie cheddar for $1, because it gives your burger an extra little kick. Upgraded the side to poutine fries, because c'mon, how can you go wrong with cheese AND gravy on fries? I was not disappointed. Kind of far for me to come just for a bite, but if I'm ever in the area, I'll definitely stop by for more poutine fries.

Hmmm, while I like Sheep Station, I have to say it's nothing special. A few friends live in the area, so we tend to go there often enough. The waitservice is a bit nonchalant, but they get the job done, since we're never really in a hurry. Prices are about right; not expensive, not cheap. Happy hour is a pretty good deal.

The Poutine is definitely recommended. It's lighter than the stuff you get in Montreal, which I consider a good thing! The fries in general are fried to perfection. The burgers are a bit overkill with the toppings (egg, caramalized onion, pineapple, the usual and optional extras) in my opinion, but it's tasty if you're in the mood. They have good vegetarian options, which is another reason why we end up there often, but still, I think there are better areas in the 'hood.

    Note: CASH ONLY!

I had lunch here with a friend. We both had the Shearer's Burger and it was delightful. It was a pretty thick burger due to all the ingredients in it. It was good nonetheless.

A burger with an egg, beet, caramelized onions, pineapple, tomato and lettuce. You can order it with a beef patty or veggie which the OPTION itself is pretty cool. Then you can also add avocado if you'd like for $1 or something.

You also have choice of fries or a salad..healthy eats, I think.

The experience was delightful. The waitress was nice. But the overall meal was satisfying but not craveworthy. It seems its a cool hang out spot if you live in the area. I dont and I wouldnt do an obscene commute for this burger either.

    From a Tourist.

My wife and I happened to find this place while making our way back down to Bayridge from Brooklyn Heigthts/Dumbo and got off the train to see another neigborhood.

Bottom line.  Food is bad.  Bar tender not food savy.  Had no idea what was on the menue.  Kitchen staff and manager appears untrained.

My wife ordered the rocket and beet salad and it came without oil in the dressing.  I was not expecting this place to have roasted beets for the salad, but my wife did and ordered after asking the bar tender if it was roasted.  He said, "of course,it wouldn't be raw".  It turned out to be canned beets.  O'well.

She even asked for some olive oil to rehabiltate the salad, the staff brought out a remkin of vinegar...she was too pissed to sent it back...she refused to admit that she was wrong in her assesment of this place...we were hunger and tire from all the walking...

Now my leg of lamb sandwich was tasty and well prepared.  I yelp one star because of the chintz portionof meat...hey is this an aussie place or what...we eat meat!  O'well...

Beer was good.  When I was told Sheepmilk was like Youngling...I went for a "Brooklyn" brew.  My wife said the shariz wine was good.

Tab came to $41....Expensive for $8 crappy salad and near meatless sandwich for $15.

O'well...our first day in Brooklyn...lessons learned...Much better eating places along 5th Avenue...a short walk over.  Then the local knows this...

Within walking distance of our hotel, I could see myself coming here after a rugby match and getting rehydrated.
Having said that, they serve really good food with great portions.

So, Sheep Station.  I'd heard some good things and thought I'd check it out as we were having dinner in the neighborhood anyway.   It wasn't crowded when we got there about 6:30 but it seemed like it was filling up a little by the time we left.

Sampled a variety of beers, which were good.
    Greenport Harbor Ale
    Cooper's Pale
    Sixpoint Sweet Action
    Sheep Milk

Drink prices were fairly reasonable for Park Slope, but then we got an order of wings which only came with six wings. They were good, but a beer and six wings for $14 seems kind of expensive.

Didn't have any dinner food but saw some at the tables and it looked good.

The decor is nice and they have a lot of outdoor seating, of course you're sitting on 4th Avenue so that's a little bit of a drawback.  There were a lot of kids and babies when we were there, which isn't a problem but if you want to relax with a beer it ca be a little difficult with kids running around, screaming and singing.

Service was....okay.  Even with only 3-4 people sitting at the bar, it was hard to get the bartender's attention.  She was nice but was very good at avoiding eye contact or seeing empty beer glasses.  Again, very friendly but inattentive.

Worth a try once or twice, but don't think I'd make it a regular stop.

Cool place.  Cool crowd.  It's Aussie, but other than that nothing really makes it stand out.  I live across the street from this place but I find myself walking right past it on my way to other varieties of food on 5th Ave.  I would never object to going here, but I wouldn't go out of my way either.  If I were to recommend a dish to anyone, I would suggest the Shepherd's pie.  The end.

I stopped in here for a few beers one evening. There was an interesting beer selection (Genesee, Molson, some Australian stuff). I rarely see Molson in New York City so I had to take advantage. The prices were reasonable and the bartender was friendly enough. The interior decoration was also nice.

The main reason I can't rate this place higher than three stars is because it doesn't accept credit cards. For me this is a major negative; I hate carrying cash. I just can't believe that in 2011 there are still places that are not either holes-in-the-wall or illegal that don't accept credit cards.

You have got to be kidding me. We went for lunch recently. The leg of lamb sandwich consisted of a derisory amount of luke-warm left-over lamb on two dinner roll-sized pieces of bread.

Seriously, they are charging $15 for this crap?

By way of (very sharp) contrast, we went to St. Anselm the other night in Williamsburg and had the sublime butcher's steak for the same fifteen bucks. Or you could spend a few more dollars and have the out-of-this-world lamb burger at the Breslin. Or half that amount and enjoy a delicious burger at the no-frills 5 Guys chain.

Sheep Station needs to get real. $15 for that sandwich is shear ridiculousness.

Say it with me "Cooper's Sparkling Ale on Tap!"

My go-to place in the area for Fish and Chips.  Always go in thinking I am going to try something new from the menu and then remember how great the Fried Cod is here.

They also have a great cocktail list, though that would mean drinking something other than the Cooper's Sparkling.

I do have to give the place one demerit for being cash-only, even if they do have an on-site ATM.

Had brunch here. Noted that the place has two big TVs and they were showing the women world cup.

They are known for their vegetable curry and meat pie (less than $10). For that price, it was a very good deal for the amount of food. The crust on the pie was well done, fresh, and had that slight crunch when you break the crust. The meat itself was juicy. However, the meat pie didn't have too much variety in flavor as I found myself picking at my boyfriend's dish towards the end.

The bf has a BLT that was surprisingly big and light.

AC was not on, there were fans on. Also, they do not serve water with ice.

Came because I had a deal for it via Scoutmob ( well worth it to get on your phone kiddies since it takes 50% off your meal).

Anyway, I was super excited to try it for their Sheep Station burgers and poutine ( fries with gravy and cheese). I ordered the lamb burger myself, the poutine and we split a meat pie.

The meat pie was delicious - very nice and flaky crust to the pie and juicy and meaty on the inside. However, maybe the reason why I liked it so much was because it tasted like sloppy joe ( of which I adore.) The poutine was pretty great - I mean can you really go wrong with gravy and fries?

My lamb burger was pretty juicy when it came out, but it didn't have much taste to it ( sad) and I actually had to put ketchup in it to add some much needed flavor to it. I took a bite of the Sheep Station Burger and it was pretty good in my opinion - the Aussie cheese they put in really makes it stand out. We both got fries with our meals and I couldn't decide which tasted better: fries sans gravy because of the wonderful crispiness of it or fries with gravy because ... it has gravy on it.

I think this place is nice and quaint - has a bit of an outdoorsy vibe to it.

Althea said this place was yummy and she was right! When the MTA made a mockery of my quick-hop-to-Manhattan idea, we got off at Atlantic and came over here. This place has great service, a cozy environment, delicious Fancy cocktails, a nice wine list and reasonable prices.
Joe's been ordering better than me lately, and his giant bowl of mussels and fries came with a glorious piece of grilled buttered toast for dipping and garnered most of the attention on the table. However, my fish and chips consisted of delicious and crispy cod and excellent golden fries.

This is a solid restaurant. The food, service and price are all slightly better than decent, if not spectacular, and by no means bad. I've eaten here twice and got the fish and chips both times, both good. A friend of mine ordered the mussels and she adored them. While it's never first on anyone's list when we are in this part of Brooklyn, it serves better than a good fallback...but it's never anyone's first choice.

    Best. Gluten-Free. Burger.
    Hands down.

As a subscriber to "Everybody Eats" e-newsletter, I just found out that Sheep Station is serving EE gluten free rolls and breads for their sandwiches and burgers. And Sheep Station's burger is one whopping mother of a burger. Lettuce, tomato, sauteed onions, pineapple, egg, and beets! What?? DELICIOUS. (and affordable!)

And to top it all off - they have Redbrige! I'm in Celiac heaven!

I can't wait to try their other sandwiches the next time they come back.

I walk by this place all the time and it always looks inviting and generally always fairly full. Tired of going to all our normal spots in Park Slope, we  walked over the other night and found 2 seats at the bar (sweeet). The  tables were all really close to one another in typical new york fashion and while I don't mind that in the least, we love sidling up to the bar and being able to talk to the people working there (who on that night was Matt - a super friendly bartender who gave us plenty of suggestions for beers because they have a lot of fun beers on tap that I' d never seen.

We also got the chook (chicken) sandwich and the oysters (half dozen Blue Points for $12). Both were really tasty and plenty for 2 with a couple beers. The prices aren't the cheapest but I'm sad I hadn't ventured over before and i'll certainly be back again.

I've been here twice and it's excessively mediocre. The drink menu is extensive but overpriced for the locale. They seriously serve cocktails for $10 when there is a KFC a few blocks away. I think this bar likes to pretend like it's in midtown, when really it's on a dirty out-of-the-way strip of Brooklyn.

The food is decent, but tries too hard to be classy. No one goes to an Aussie themed bar to munch on 6 / $12 mussles. It feels a bit divey, so I'm not too keen on getting seafood there.

The real draw is the burger, which can be hit or miss. If it comes medium rare with a runny egg on top it can be delicious. However, if it comes well-done, with a over hard egg, and a damp bum, it's just short of bad (you can't mess up meat, cheese, and beer too bad).

If you can, stop by during a happy hour or for the daily specials (not available on Fri / Sat). Sometimes you can get a burger and pint for $12, which is when this bar becomes worth visiting.

I don't know about brunch, but I suggest somewhere on 5th - 7th ave because I don't like big screens and beer as much with my omelets as I do with my burgers.

This place just rocks. I just moved to the neighborhood while sublet hopping around New York City and Sheeps Station was my first stop. They food is authentic Aussie and tasty--and they have Coopers  on tap--which is pretty much unheard of.

The music and people are quite fantastic as well. It has this "cheers-esk" feel to it on weeknights. Everybody knows everyone else's name. This place is in between 4 neighborhoods--but the residents of Park Slope/Gowanus/Boreum Hill/ Atlantic Yards should mosey on over and enjoy this joint.

Melissa has been my bar tender a few times and was super cool. Also, have had quite good conversations with Matt.

Haven't met the owners yet but they must be cool...

My wonderful mother has an addiction to Groupon. She sees deals for places and says OK, clicks and purchases it. On a random day she looks at her stock pile of deals and their approaching deadlines and realizes that several of her deals are going ot vanish in a matter of days.
    Thats when she calls me.
    "do you want some groupons?"
Hell yes I want some groupons. She hands me several- one of them to sheep station
So with my groupon for Sheepstation in hand and my best friend to accompany me, i make a trek to park slope. FROM QUEENS.
It was a pretty hot day and the establishment had a few fans going... but to be honest, it was a lot cooler outside where we felt a gentle breeze so, we opted to eat on the sidewalk.
The brunch menu isnt huge but the offerings are standard brunch fare.
I ordered the BLT with a fried egg and an avocado with a side salad, my friend ordered the eggs benedict which also came with a side salad and to be greedy we ordered poutine to share.
I ordered an iced coffee that was delicious... and when that was empty i ordered a bloddy caesar which might not have been a great following to iced coffee.. it was good but perhaps a little too spicy.
The poutine was just okay for me. Perhaps I have had some bad poutine in my time, but the gravy on these fries was a little sour. The cheese curds were fantabulous and the fries were crisp throughout- despite all the gravy on them. My friend didnt mind the gravy and actually whispered to it "I love gravy"... it didnt whisper back.
My blt was amazing. I loved the smokiness of the bacon and garlicky mayo with my smushed avocado. It was definitely up there in amazingness... and when i bit into it the fried egg oozed its runny yolk all over the place! so delicious!
The eggs benedict was also tasty. The hollandaise was a teensy bit bland for my tastes but the eggs were poached beautifully and rested on top of a THICK and smoky slab of canadian bacon.
The service was a little slow but we thoroughly enjoyed our time talking and eating and just taking in the gorgeous summer day.
If you are using a deal or a groupon, they only take cash.
I would really like to come back for dinner service some time in the near future.

    The bread pudding is Auss-some!

I cant recall the names of the different wines we tasted but they were all pretty nice, and reasonably priced.

Every neighborhood needs a pub like Sheep Station.  Warm and cozy are not terms normally associated with Brooklyn's 4th Avenue, but it fits the bill here.  This is a great place for an after-work beer or for a great burger at an affordable price.  The beer selection is fantastic with a lot of local New York brews for all tastes.  Plus, poutine!  Friendly staff, a warm vibe, and great food. What more can you ask for?

I like this place. Our bartender was quite knowledgable and was pleasent. I had a great gin cocktail w/ pickled ramps (yummpy wild leeks). We had the burger which would have be great if it had more salt...it's just not the same if you have to add salt. Still really good meat, cooked well. I would get again but ask them to salt. The fries were pretty perfect. In short, they don't skimp on the food.

Meat pie. Meat pie. Meat pie.

Happy hour is until 7:00 and they have a very nice Muscato Wine, usually for dessert but very nice for a glass to wind down your day.

Our service was great and friendly-present, but not.  If you get the Muscles, bring your appetite.  It is one of the biggest portions of Muscles I have ever seen.

After seeing other entrees and recieving a coupon, I will be back for the Fish & Chips and the Toffee for dessert.

    Enjoy

Right, I know.  Why do I review these places?  I'm bound to dislike them.  My purpose in writing this review is to warn you, prospective client, of a few things.

    1) Sheep's Milk beer is, or tastes exactly like, Yuengling.  I object to the sly sale of America's tastiest cheap beer for $6/pint.  Since when do chintzy "theme" bars on 4th Avenue in Brooklyn have permission to adhere to the cheap beer price points of luxe Midtown restaurants?  The New York City Council should drop its unquenchable lust for allowing double parking and focus its energies on this affront to the sensibilities and wallets of normal people.

    2) There's some setup where people with computers can curate everyone's listening experience.  I have never enjoyed listening to "gangsta rap," or shrieking about all the situations in which I like to "cut loose and listen to gangsta rap."

    3) Hey, you with the star tattoos all over your arms and hands: you're the creepy adult stranger your mom warned you about.  If you and your pal want to abuse people with "music" and not drink beer, why not just go home, take a dexy, and blow out your own speakers?

A little bit of an odd location for a nice restaurant, but that's gentrification for you! That said, I thought the 'rustic' decor really worked, without being too cheezy. Anyone who keeps antique tin ceilings rather than ripping them out gets points in my book!
We started off with two pint-sized, $5. bloody marys, which were excellent. Lots of horseradish, fresh-tasting, and a lot of nice garnish!
The meat pie appetizer was moist on the inside, crispy on the outside and tasty all over.
We then had the grilled chicken sandwich and the lamb sandwich - both were excellent, with fresh breads, juicy-but-not-greasy meat, and delicious mayo. The waitress let us substitute mashed potatoes for fries, and they were really good. The side salad was kind of small and unexciting however - potatoes were definitely a better choice.
At the last minute, we decided to stay for a couple of beers. It was a bit hard to catch the waitress' attention to order them, but the beer list is good, and $4. for a pint during happy hour is a good deal!
The place was a bit more stroller-friendly than I prefer, but what can you do? I still definitely want to come back here.

Ordered a burger and a meat pie, waited more than 40 minutes for them to arrive with luke warm mashed potatoes.

Not once did the waitress say anything about the extremely long wait.

If that's how long the meat pie or burger usually take then something should be said when ordering.

We waited at this place for over 45 minutes for a burger, fries and a meat pie. The food was okay but the customer service was awful. This place gets a dislike in my book.

Sat in the back. It was warm but not too hot. The room smelled like mussels. Which actually smelled really good.. But I came for the meat.

Had a few drinks. Ordered a burger. Fried egg and cheese, check. Passed on the beets and pineapple. My compadre had it all. Burgers came out fast, medium rare. No complaints. Great fries. Friendly, fast service. I would go back and try it with the pineapple and beets. Why the hell not!? My friend downed his so fast and half of mine... I would have eaten all of mine.. But I was saving room for liquor. Muwahaha.

4th Ave in Brooklyn is a desolate stretch of autobody shops, but at its Douglass Street intersection is a dark cozy... Australian bar?  Yes, and for neighborhoodies, Sheep Station justifies the long trek or car ride over.  It just might be your new favorite winter hibernation spot.

Food is hot and hearty -- meat pie, leg of lamb sandwiches, burgers with pineapple and fried egg. Sliding-scale beer prices according to size (pot, schooner, pint) makes it easy to customize your budget and in/tolerance.  The bar's a classy area, but the real eating and drinking goes on at the communal tables, thick slabs of wood.  There's a lot of wood everywhere in fact, very rustic cabin.  I'm a sucker for great bathrooms, and theirs is an extension of the rest of the space -- clean, multi-woodgrained, candle-lit.

Sign says it's open til 4am every night.  Sit by the window, have a drink, watch all the taxis race down 4th Ave in the hustle from the taxi depot to Manhattan.  There's nothing else to see on this block except the glaring light of the BP gas station across the street.  For making me feel like a Brooklyn version of Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks", this place gets 5 stars.

-Excellent bartenders, personable and very friendly.
-Food is just above average.  The Poutine is not of Quebecois quality. Meat pies are tasty, the salads are a little lacking.
-Great beer selection, a few things you probably won't find anywhere else (I imagine they are of Australian descent) such as Coopers.
-Delicious cocktail menu.  Tim Finne reccomends anything made with Pims (don't see that often, either).
-The room in the back smells funny. Avoid sitting there for a meal.
-A single big-screen television is the extent of the entertainment.
