My neighbor takes her boy & girl there. They had really professional looking cuts, so we decided to go. My 6 yr old always had long or shoulder length hair. This time, we were going short! So my daughter, 2 yr old son & 1 yr old baby showed up without an appointment. Walk ins are welcomed!
My daughter has anxiety. She never had a professional shampoo at a salon. Our stylist was Fatim. She was very good, although you could tell she was perplexed why my daughter was so scared when she was washing her hair. Kids behavior doesn't faze them a bit. There was a little boy sitting on his Dad's lap screaming his head off while getting a cut. It was really loud, but no one seemed to notice but me. With 3 kids, was it odd that I noticed? Anyways, they have 3 of the special "car" seats on one side & regular salon seats on the other. We went to the pink ride & chose the princess movie. Since the boy car was available, my 2 yr old got to hang out there. Baby was asleep.
Fatim did an awesome job. Super-cute & very professional adult style cut. She blew dry it. Then I was told her nails were next. Wow great cut with style & nails done too! I opted for a cut while the manicurist was watching the kids & sent my son with them. The baby was up by now & sat on my lap quietly. I loved my cut too! My daughter came out with pretty green sparkle nails & a big glitter heart & star on the back of her hands. My son got the glitter symbols too. ( I was watching to see if he was getting polished too. But I was honestly quite pleased that he is still a nail polish virgin. )
Sharkey's was a great outing. Very professional cuts. Stylists aren't bothered by the behaviors that bug us parents. Very reasonable priced I thought too I would recommend Fatim. She takes a lot of care & is really good. Our hair looks great & kept it's shaped without any styling at home. (My kids never saw/used a hair dryer before Sharkeys. Uh yea-with 3 small kids when would I have time to style anything?) We are definitely going back for more fun! -

Well, let me first say my daughter LOVES this place, so I'm giving it an extra star, I would rate it a 1 for sure. She is 3 1/2 and the nail polish, glitter hand stamp, hairclip, ring...and of course the unique chairs and barbie movies.... all make her feel very pampered and princess-y. For the price, I actually think that all of that is pretty cool, and she really does love the experience.
**HOWEVER**
the hair cuts suck. I mean we've been going here for about a year now and maybe it was because we started going when she was younger that we didn't notice how messed up her haircut was. Or maybe it is because she really is so happy walking out of there. But it seems everytime we go there now her bangs are getting shorter and more crooked. Once they were so wide they went back behind her ears. Just not cute. And I am there monitoring, but there is only so much you can do once that first cut is made.
They have a new group of women in there too right now that are pretty...uh....unskilled. The hair dresser that did my daughters super wide bangs was butchering another little girls hair yesterday. The mom told me she asked her to take maybe 2 inches off the bottom (girl had VERY long hair) and it was now to just below her chin. The woman kept trying to straighten out her cut. TERRIBLE.
We spent the nearly $30 bucks yesterday and today I am going to spend more getting her bangs fixed at a different kids shop. That's the LAST time I'm going there which is pretty unfortunate since my daughter did think it was a real treat. -

I made a yelp account just to review this place! Took my 1 year old here for his first haircut! They did an amazing job he got to watch a movie and sit in a cool sports car and the hair cut turned out great! They really know how to treat kids and they do a great job! My husband even wants to get a hair cut there cuz he could play xbox while they cut!!! Guess the whole family is going here now! Take ur kids u won't be disappointed

We're still going here since it's so close. We did have a bad experience with one stylist who totally butchered my daughter's thick hair. I had to take her somewhere else and have it redone.
My kids really enjoy the extra attention they get here with the nail polish, etc.
And I am still annoyed by the lack of comfotable seating for those waiting. A few real chairs off of Craig's List would not be a big investment and would be way more professional than those stools. Just sayin'.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Great cut, Great service, Great place! My 3 yr old was squirming like crazy and the stylist was still able to give him a great cut! She spoke to him in a very friendly way and really knew what she was doing. Honestly, I think it's his best cut ever!

This was our first time at Sharkeys and I should have left when the hair dresser handed me an adult hair- style magazine to "find a do". I found a cut of a woman's hair so at least I could give the stylist an example and after consulting my 6 year old, we agreed to go with bangs and about an inch trim on the back. Since I was with my old younger daughter, during the hair cut I found myself watching her instead of watching this new hair dresser cut my daughter's hair.
Needless to say that when I walked over to see the cut, I was horrified to hat see my daughter with bangs that were WAY TO SHORT. About 3/4 inch from her eyebrows! The bangs not only were to short, it looked like the stylist took a ruler and measured across...like a bowl cut on the top over her head...and her "baby bangs" are not even straight.
Of course when I saw my daughters hair, I said to my six year old...."oh how pretty".. but all I wanted to do was to cry looking at her funny hair cut. As my daughter went to the back to get her nails done, I spoke to the other staff members. They were apologetic and said they couldn't do anything about it.(Duh). I told them they needed to adjust the price, they took a whole $2 dollars off.
If they would have been smarter, they would have charged me nothing so I would come back. Although my daughter loved the place I will not return....bad cut= free cut, not two dollars off. This place will not stay in business with cuts and management like that. I AM SO THANKFUL WE HAVE THREE WEEKS BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS SO THAT HER HAIR WILL GROW OUT!!!! -

This place is a joke! They have the right ideas with the cute cars to sit in while your kids' hair gets cut and the tv's with movies and the toys ... BUT, the stylist we went to was horrible! I mean just awful! My sons bangs were so slanted and - she just kept cutting to try and straighten it and I finally had to yank him out of the chair. I have no idea why others rated this so high. DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE!
Oh, and $25 for trimming my daughters hair ... just because it was her "First HairCut"?!?! No thanks! -

We first heard about this place when my daughter (6) was invited to a birthday party there. The party was still going on when I came to pick her up so I checked out the store and was impressed. It's clean. REALLY clean. The owner was sitting behind the counter was one of the most pleasant people I've talked to in a while. I didn't feel rushed out of the store or ignored or anything, she told me to look around talked to me about her business some (I'm a bookkeeper, so kind of a business geek anyway) and about the model. My daughter came out of the party room all glitzed up and demanding her next haircut to be there.
So... when she decided to get her hair cut, off we went and drug big brother (9) with us to get his hair cut too... but you don't just get a haircut at Sharkey's. You get an adventure. First you get to choose between a movie or a video game. The boy chose a video game, which is played on a large flat screen attached to the wall and the girl chose a movie, which is on a smaller flat screen on the other side. The movies have special chairs (cars and stuff) and the video games have standard barber chairs. I let the kids tell us what to do, and I wandered off while they played/watched/whatever. I read for a few minutes, but the owner and I struck up another conversation and just talked about random stuff (again, maybe it's just me, but I like it when people don't ignore you).
After they got shampooed and a haircut, my daughter was whisked off for her fingernails painted (glitter blue, of course), a glitter tattoo, a hair clippy and a ring. I mean, she had some serious bling going on, people.
It was around $35 for the two of them, so not too bad. The kids were happy. The staff was super excellent nice and the place was very clean. I highly recommend you to drop by this location - it's by Toys R Us in the Lakeline Mall shopping center. At first I thought they were there to compete with another kid's haircut place nearby, but they don't even compare - and the price is nearly the same. The kid's both got really really good cuts and had a great time. My son did declare it to be a little too girly, but said he preferred it because it was quieter than the other place.
Another fun stat - the bathroom is painted in chalkboard paint and you can use the provided chalk to write on the walls. Cool, eh? -

My little offspring was growing hair like it was going out of style. In fact, it was getting pretty ridiculous. The little man had some serious mad scientist hair. It was finally time for the iconic "FIRST HAIRCUT"
So, we packed up 14 different cameras, strapped Captain Shaggyhead into his car seat and headed over to Sharkey's, which is surprisingly not a pool hall.
This place was way cooler than I expected. The little kiddos get to sit in a decked out car / chair, complete with working horn and other power buttons. Nice flat panel screens have the expected Disney movies on loop.
The stylist and the owner were incredibly helpful, gentle, and caring. 11 month-olds don't like to sit still in one place for long, and about 10 minutes in, our little guy started trying to make his escape. The scene was quite amusing. The stylist is trying to finish the cut. Another stylist is cooing and trying to distract our little guy. The owner is handing him balloons and toys to keep him placated. Meanwhile, my wife and I are just taking pictures and laughing at the chaos.
The haircut turned about amazing, and the experience was fun.
Older kids (and maybe the young at heart like me) would also appreciate the big flat panels hooked up to Playstation 3 and Xbox 360's for gaming while getting a haircut. They saw me admiring the setup, and it was made very clear that dads can also get their haircut here.
This is a cool and fun place with friendly staff and skilled stylists. We'll be back. -

I have an 8 year old and a 2 year old. At first, We went in without an appt- it was busy so they gave us a coupon for when we came in later for the appt they set for us. My 2 yr old loved the car he sat in while getting his hair cut and didn't fuss at all. My daughter (8 yrs) loved watching a barbie movie while getting her hair cut, the clip they gave her at the end and her fingernails painted. Price not much more than any other place and totally worth it. We enjoyed the stylists. They seemed to be very patient and good at cutting hair. We will be back.

I was very nervous about getting my baby's long golden locks cut at a salon again after a bad experience at K.A.O.S. But our stylist was very kind and not only was she good with my kid, she actually knew how to give a little boy haircut. She even took extra time to give it another pass with some texturizing shears to make sure it looked perfect. My son loved sitting in the race car, watching Elmo, and got to experience his first dum-dum sucker. When we left, he looked like a handsome little boy instead of a mop-topped baby. I didn't cry in the salon, but if I had, I'm sure they would have also offered me a dum-dum sucker.

We were in the area shopping, and decided to take my son in for a quick cut. We walked into an empty salon, meaning no customers, and 3 stylist standing at the register. They told us that they couldn't cut his hair because they had an appointment scheduled in 10 minutes and that they usually give the customer another 10 minutes in case they are running late. I mentioned if I could wait and swing back by in case they had a no show. They said they couldn't guarantee anyting. Did I mention NOT ONE SINGLE customer was in the store and there were 3 stylist!!! I went onto to other stores and when we finally left, I drove by 20 minutes later, and guess what...it was still empty and those 3 stylist were sitting and standing around chatting...hopefully about learning some business sense. For a first time customer, I don't think this was a smart business move. They just lost a potential LOYAL customer, who has 3 BOYS that get taken regularly if service was good, and a GREAT TIPPER!
***So folks, don't waste your money and definitely DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!
***On a good note, I went to another kid friendly place that day, who although had customers, were very friendly in working us in. So, thanks for leading me to Pigtails & Crewcuts! -

I was looking for a place to cut my daughter's hair. She's 17months old and this was going to be her 2nd cut and the 1st place we tried we were very disappointed with. After reading good reviews from Yelp about Sharkey's we made the appointment.
We were really impressed how clean the salon was and the staff was prompt and friendly as soon as we entered the shop.
She had her nails polished first. I didn't know if she'd sit still long enough for it, but it comes with the haircut. She sat still and had her nails painted bright pink. Very cute and she kept showing everyone. She then got to pick out a ring to wear with her new "mini"cure.
She went for the haircut next. She picked a pink Jeep to sit in and even got to watch Dora. They do wash hair with the cut price, but it scares her and I washed her hair before we went. Her stylist was Grace and she did a great job. She even used a little mango hair product (smelled really yummy).
It was a great day at the salon for my little lady. She left looking like a little princess. We will be definitely going back for her next hair cut. -

Sharkey's does fantastic parties, I just did their glamour party for my daughter's 5th birthday and it was a hit. The little girls just loved it and had so much fun, the staff was wonderful with them and handled everything - all I had to do was bring the cake and enjoy watching my little princess play with her friends. If you have a little girl who loves to play dress-up she will love this!!!

I just brought my daughter here today for her first haircut (she is about to turn 3). I was blown away by shop first off. The set up is perfect for kids. Tv, movies, toys, fancy cars to sit in while you get your hair cut! My daughter got the works for her 1st do: hair cut and nails painted, pictures, balloon, saving of hair and a certificate.
The owner is so friendly and a joy to talk to. The woman who cut my daughters hair obviously loves kids and doesn't mind them moving all over the place while the do their job.
My daughter and I are definetly coming back. They do haircuts for adults too. The prices are fantastic. We are even planning a birthday party there. The set up for a girlie party is hollywood style and very cool. I highly suggest this wonderful environment. -

My daughter (3.5) went in for her first haircut and didn't want to leave! She loved being pampered. In addition to getting her hair cut they painted her nails at no additional cost. LOL Our stylist was Tracy and she was wonderful! We will definitely be going back.
