Shari's Cafe and Pies

I don't care what anyone says this location is just fine. We have been here many many times. For a comparison of equal value etc this Shari's is great.

Shari's is 24 hours I love that. It always has pie. Maybe not the kind you want but it always has pie. We have arrived late, we have arrived for early dinner and either way we are served. Sometimes the servers have obviously dealt with snotty people but I can always win them over.

I really enjoy the food. The Loaded Potato soup is YUMMY. especially on a cooler winter evening with crazy wind. I didn't care much for the coffee but I am a bougie coffee drinker... it was warm and they gave us plenty of cream.

The ribs are okay. The club is good. The Bacon Burger is good. We have tried many many things and truly the are all good. The dinner salad (side) is GREAT and it is fairly large. I mean.. honestly $12ish for soup and salad is NOT bad nowadays.

Wednesdays you get free pie with an entree. Also sign up for the app the points add up.

Amanda has terrible service. Came in with a table of 6. Got our table pretty quick. We were originally seated in a booth but requested to sit in the middle 6 seater that had three tables pushed together. Amanda, our server, didn't look happy. We sat there for 30 mins with no water served while watching people that came in after us put in their order and also get their drinks. After 30 mins, I asked one of the waitresses that I understand they are busy but our table is ready to order just to remind them in case they forgot. Other waitress let Amanda know that our table didn't order yet. Amanda finally said she will be right with us. Another ten minutes passed and we all walked out and took our business elsewhere.

Please advise Amanda that if she doesn't like her job, she doesn't need to be there.

The wait staff and hostess were trying ,friendly and prompt, unfortunately cook didn't know how to properly cook food items on menu, to many other things to list ,building inside and out in poor repair,, not good , last time for me ,, yuck

So disappointed. I was hoping to bump up Shari's star rating a bit. First time here. I'm usually very generous with ratings but tonight it was a FAIL. Service was friendly, but after we were seated we waited for over 10 minutes before someone came by. Water was never offered at our table but the lucky folks a couple tables down were.

We decided to come by only for dessert since we figured they must be good at that, at least. We all ordered Shari's Pie Shakes. No bueno. They are supposed to be vanilla ice cream blended with a slice of pie of your choice and topped with whipped cream. What we got was an over-blended, over-milked, watery mess. We weren't even given one of those long shake spoons to try and fish the clumps of soggy pie crust out of the bottom of the metal cup.

We're going to give Shari's one more try and order from the food menu. But I have to be honest -- a place that prides itself on its pies and desserts probably will not have great food. And when the pies and desserts are no bueno, it makes me less than hopeful that breakfast, lunch and dinner options will be much better. We'll see...

My dinner was surprisingly good. Service was horrible. Amanda served us, and as others have stated on here, we also waited forever. She was arguing with the cook too. My food was surprisingly good and not undercooked or anything. The pie was...fucking embarrassing. I've gone to Shari's in Grants Pass and had way better service (and that is NOT a given in GP, unfortunately).
Anyways we ate, Amanda never came back. I went to the hostess to ask why for 35 minutes we got no water, check, or free pie offer. Hostess seemed flustered and before I had talked to her she actually started walking away from me until I stopped her! It was starting to seem personal.
They served us our pie, Amanda had BEEN serving other people, just like other reviews say, including serving people pie etc even though we beat the rush and were there before most people! She seemed pretty pissed that the hostess had to tell her to serve us.
Also while eating dinner there was a MASSIVE silverfish crawling across the table (how did she not know what that is when we told her?)
Girlfriend said the bathroom was disgusting.
In the end we tried to pay and the hostess tried to give us a discount which we didn't ask for, and then said she couldn't bc of the pie thing which she acted like was some huge deal even tho everybody gets free pie on Weds, I was positively surprised that she was gonna do that and was gonna tip (I always tip big but not this time) but then she spent a bunch of time back and forth not knowing how to do any of it so I said please just let us pay and leave. I could tell she was shaken up but we were incredibly polite the entire time.
I'll be lucky if I didn't get food poisoning tbh.
Also glad others have posted about her bc I was almost sure it's because we are a visibly queer couple and I thought they were acting out towards us because of that. Wake up... there are people like us everywhere in Gresham too, not just Portland.

I was actually surprised a bit with the actual taste and presentation of the delivered food, but definitely have a few suggestions they could improve on.
First the portion was a bit disappointing for a home style meal and pie restaurant, which I think should have been a bit better for the pricing.
The food quality was good but I feel like the packaging wasn't the best choice for keeping things fresh in a delivery situation.
However I have gone into this Shari's and had a pretty tasty burger so I wouldn't fully discount their work, just feel they could use some fine tuning.

My husband order me Fish & Fries and he ordered Lemon Chicken & Broccoli. Both plates were $14!!!! My plate looked like a plate from a elementary school cafeteria! I took one bite of fish and ate a few fries. By 11pm that night, I was vomiting like a hungover person... I couldn't eat or get out of bed the next day. I wonder if they are so desperate they just hire anything to cook food...
Definitely take a look at the cook before placing a order here!! Shoot, ANYWHERE!!!!

Honestly it's always a hit or miss here... today was a miss.. ordered pancake meal to go for my pregnant girlfriend to only get home and realize they didn't even give me syrup for the pancakes.. I mean something so simple as that and forced me to go out and buy syrup from the supermarket causing the food to just get cold and go bad.. I'm never coming here again

I almost always have an issue at Shari's my food is usually under or over cooked. Not this time and I got exactly what I ordered. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. My food arrived promptly and was warm. It was an overall excellent experience
