Shannon's serves strong drinks and great food. What else are you looking for in a bar & grill? May very well be the only real bar in town.
Andy may be a little hard on the eyes, but at least you can always catch a White Sox game on the TV!
I would highly recommend leaving your brother at home and heading on in for a great time!
Shannon's is gritty. It's in a totally obscure office building area.
I've been there a couple of times with coworkers. If you're there early, the crowd is acceptable. Not people I'd normally spend any kind of personal time with, but acceptable in the sense that I feel comfortable within close proximity.
At night, it's a different story. The place stinks, the regulars will stare you down as you walk in and I'm pretty sure most of them have criminal records. I'm not sure if I'm ready to try their food.
However--I DO like this place because the drinks are stiff and sometimes I like hanging in sketchy places. They also have a pool table. Tons of motorcycle riders too, but none of which are hot.

Out-of-the-way commercial office bldg location. Drinkin' establishment for professional working drunks, I'm not kidding. Are you wondering where your house painter, car mechanic, telephone lineman or carpenter is when he's really late for your job appointment? He's probably here knocking back his 4th morning beer.
I've been observing this place for 5 years as my office window faces the place. Shannon's is always busy. Always at least 10 cars parked in my lot and blocking my office door. Average patron age is 55.
Lunch and dinner is made here. I know all the cooks. You get BIG helpings of Roast Beef, Roast chicken, huge hamburgers. Menu changes daily. Nothing costs over $15.
The crowd is friendly enough until about 7:30. Then the mood gets a little edgy & the loud Harleys with their equally loud riders start to pour-in. I don't recommend a Friday nite visit as it can get a bit rowdy, especially on "lingerie model" nites. They crank the juke box loud, playing Aerosmith, ZZ Top & Rolling Stones old tunes. Tough older "broads" come here, too. Lotsa' cigarette smoking happening. Are you craving ludicrous human drama and inane conversation?? Then this might be the adventure you're seeking.
