Now that my hair has finally grown back, I feel that I can write a fair review that isn't emotionally charged.  (For time reference, my last haircut with Shanaz was eight months ago, in October 2008).

I first had Shanaz do my hair for my best friend's wedding in January 2008.  She turned my lifeless waist-length locks into bouncy, glittering curls that almost offset my unflattering bridesmaid dress.  Since I was in the market for a new hairstylist, Shanaz became my go-to woman.  Every time I went in for a haircut, I came out with bouncy, voluminous hair that attracted compliments from friends and strangers alike. Everytime except the last time, when a good chunk of my hair was whacked off and short layers were cut in the front.  The request was for a trim and side-swept bangs (which wasn't granted because I supposedly didn't have enough hair in the front for bangs).  Ask and you shall not receive.  

Being that I'm overprotective of my hair, I assumed I was overreacting.  Apparently not.  I was having lunch with a friend one day after the disasterous haircut, and when we finally paused to take a breath during our gabfest, she gazed sadly at me and said, "Don't worry; it'll grow back."  And we hadn't even talked about my hair that day until that point!

It finally did, and now I have two stylists (there's a sound reason for that) who both know that a trim should really just be that.  Plus, one of my stylists cut in super-cute side-swept bangs about four months ago that....as it turns out, I do have enough hair for after all.

I was in the market for a hair and makeup stylist this summer for my wedding and my regular stylist does not do wedding hair.  Fortunately, my friend- who always has gorgeous hair- recommended me to her hair stylist, Shanaz.  I sure am glad that she did! Shanaz was very professional, prompt, accommodating, and surprisingly affordable considering the quotes I got from other stylists in the LA area.  She listened very well to what I wanted and yet gave me her expertise as to what would work for my type of hair, skin, and facial features.  We had two trial runs before the wedding at her salon and she traveled all the way to Laguna Beach for my big day.  She did the hair and makeup for my entire bridal party, stuck around for touch ups, and we all finished with time to spare.  We got tons of compliments and we looked fabulous in the wedding pictures.  I felt so pretty that day, thanks to a huge part to Shanaz!

Shanaz is in a word, "awesome!"  She cuts and colors my hair and does an incredible job.  I always get compliments after a visit with her.  Although I try to see her every 6-8 weeks, I sometimes go longer.  But, it doesn't matter!  The cut is so good, my hair retains the shape for months!  Her prices are competitive and she's so sweet!  I always have a good time and look forward to my next visit!
