Oh Shalene, where do I even begin. She was hands down the best realtor I could have hoped for.
My husband and I had been looking on our own through one of those do-it-yourself MLS websites for almost a year and met Shalene through one of her listings. We ended up not getting that home but decided to stick with Shalene after that.
As a first time buyer I was nervous going into the home purchase, but Shalene made the process seamless. She was extremely knowledgeable and efficient when it came to inspections and disclosures, and really broke it down for us when we were feeling overwhelmed by the purchase. Shalene was also super quick to respond (when I would work myself into a panic and act like a needy psycho!) and available when we needed her.
I would highly recommend her and can't even do her justice in this review. Shalene is professional, smart, helpful and super sweet too!!!! Shalene or bust!!!!! -

I am pleased to tell you about my wonderful realtor, Shalene Rose.
I met Shalene through a friend a year prior to the purchase of my first home. We exchanged emails. On occasion, Shalene would send me emails about homes for sale in my area. She wasn't pushy, in fact it was helpful to have information about the local housing market delivered to my inbox.
When I was ready to start the home buying process and had loan pre-approval, I contacted Shalene. We met and she asked us lots of questions. Shalene knows the East Bay housing market. This was helpful as we had some specific things we were looking for: a home near public transportation in a walkable neighborhood.
Shalene is very technology savvy.
Shalene started sending daily emails containing listings in my price range/acceptible neighborhoods.
Shalene was able to "show," us some of the homes in these listings- though in the end we found our home by open house shopping.
Once we found the home we wanted to make an offer on Shalene helped us negociate the process of getting under contract. She was a solid source of information as our experience unfolded. I didn't know anything about inspections, disclosures or contingencies. Shalene was great; especially when I needed a lot of explination and hand holding. After closing, Shalene was most helpful when the sewer main wasn't connected in our new home. Shalene came right over and had the contractor at our house in 15 minutes to fix the line.
Shalene is a good communicator- a characteristic I appreciated as the process of purchasing our first home was long and at times frustrating. She listened to my concerns and responded in a manner that was helpful.
Just prior to closing I started to show signs of pre-term labor. I was eight months pregnant with our first child. Shalene kept a cool head, put pressure on the selling agent and loan officer to speed things up and emailed me a baby meditation audio program to listen to.
You have to be able to trust your buying agent and feel that they are working on your behalf. Shalene has an amazing work ethic, but most of all I trust her. -

Finding a realtor... I had no idea where to start. Thankfully I have friends who know good people, and 1 of them recommended Shalene. How lucky was I!
Shalene is very easy to work with, talk to, meet with, and ...especially... share all the intimate details that come with buying a house. She was always ready to meet us, even making multiple trips to a house in contract to do things like measure windows and show it off to out-of-town friends.
Shalene took care of every detail, making the process so much easier and seamless than I could ever imagine. She even got us some good credits at the very end

Shalene Rose is an angel.
Here is our story.
My partner and I had ONE day to look for housing. (we were moving from LA to the Bay area). We accidentally found the place we currently live in through Ms. Rose.
While driving up and down the street, we bumped into her listing. We debated if we should stop because we were both exhausted from going to different housing appointments starting 8am that day, having flown from LA.
We finally decided to give Shalene a call. She was nice enough to wait for us at the place. We immediately fell in love with the place. We liked the fact that she had credible fotos her listings. Through the signing-contract process, Shalene was very patient with us. We communicated from 500 miles away. We even negotiated to have our canine companion of 5 years to stay with us as well. Shalene was overall very understanding of our situation. She made our transition from LA to Bay area a positive and happy one.

Many were the times I was happy to have found Shalene during the arduous search for a mid-range property in the Berkeley / Oakland area. In fact, I waited until the search was over to Yelp about her to make sure she'd have time for me. (How selfish! But it's a house hunter eat house hunter world)
Shalene was a total pleasure to work with and time and again her knowledge of income properties, the rental market, issues related to fixer uppers, and all the other intricacies of buying a property came in handy. She works hard and was very responsive and thorough on following up on all the properties I wanted to check out.
We even laughed at my comment that if only my dates were as persistent, helpful, and dedicated as Shalene, life would be grand. As it is, if you are looking for a real estate agent who will learn what you want and help you get it - this is your girl! -

Seriously could we of found a better realtor for us? Im pretty sure we couldn't. As first time home buyers we needed schooling on all the technicalities and paper work. We looked at more homes than I can remember and it took us a while to find the right one, Shalene stuck by us and made sure we found the right house for us. After many months of searching we found the best house and attempted to snap it up. Shalene made sure that we were going to walk away with those keys in the end. She made it happen and Im writing this review from our new porch over looking the east bay! If you want a realtor who's going to give you every possible option, always work over the top hard and always pull thru for you, than Shalene is your realtor!

Shalene Rose is a great realtor with a fresh approach to real estate. She's broken the old salesman mold of what a realtor once was, and acts instead as your partner and guide on the journey of buying or selling your home. She's honest, authentic, stylish, progressive, and she cares. She also asked herself whether there was a way to make her business more sustainable and is implementing green business practices into her business and life every day. And I should know, I'm both her husband and a client!

Shalene is an amazing realtor and as well great person. She stuck with me every step of the way in buying my first home in Oakland for MANY months! She was always enthusiastic, patient, and encouraging. She's is also a very calm person who is easy to be around (which is great considering how much time you spend looking at homes together). Shalene is always pleasant, real, and thinking of your best interests, but she also knows how to handle stressful situations in a professional way. You can feel confident that you are being taken care of in the best possible way when buying or selling a home with her. She has the experience and tact to get the job done, even with forclosures. I really grew to trust Shalene, and you can tell she loves her job because she is so good at it! I would recommend her to anyone!
