History
Established in 1992
Arnoldo Carrillo has been tattooing since the 1980s and started Shades of Gray in 1992. He translated his gift for fine art drawing on canvas into unique tattoo art. Rather than work from a template, the origin of Arnoldo's art springs from a collaboration between the artist and the client. His gentle, positive nature creates the environment for the client and artist to share in the tattoo creation.
Meet the Business Owner: Arnoldo C.
Arnoldo Carrillo grew up in Tucson, Arizona and now resides here in Austin. He began tattooing in the 1980s and opened up his own custom tattoo shop, Shades of Gray Dermagraphics, in 1992. He has always been an artist and some of his artwork can be seen hanging up in the shop. He has a love for what he does and enjoys the relationships that he builds with his clients, who often become repeat customers.
