Came here with the coworkers for a little Japanese hotpot because it was cold and rainy so we wanted something warm.
We ordered the lean Kobe pot and we were stuffed beyond belief. The waiters were great and the food came out fast. I love how they gave us a pitcher of water (you could call it lazy lol I actually prefer it).
My only complaint? They charged 75 cents each sauce...come on.. its soy sauce people..
The question you have to ask yourself is whether or not you like interactive food. If the answer is yes, check this place out.
The meat is fresh, the veggies are crisp, and the broth has flavor. I recommend ordering a side of ramen or udan noodles, it will add a little flare to your meal. If you don't like marbled meat (fatty), make sure to order lean meat. If you want maximum flavor order the regular meat with the spicy miso broth. Vegetarian options are available, but surely not as exciting.
All in all, shabuway is a good bet. Do it, yeah you.
Meat - Kobe style beef - really really fatty, in an "I don't feel that well" after eating way. I skimmed about a quarter inch of fat off of the water, and there was still some left. Opt for the lean beef, if you're going to ignore my review and eat here anyway.
Vegetables - napa cabbage, BABY CARROTS (?!?!), dirty (uncleaned/un-trimmed) enoki mushrooms, and a few leaves of spinach. I wanted to eat shabu shabu because I like the simple meat and veggies cooked in water concept, but the vegetables were so boring and cheap. Napa cabbage is like the iceberg lettuce of asian vegetables. And baby carrots are just lazy--they should be kept out of restaurants. I would have liked some dark leafy greens that I'm used to getting with shabu.
Price - not bad, until you realize your meal was pretty disgusting and you should have gone out for ramen instead (it was a cold evening).
Ventilation - none. They have these ceiling fans that don't really do anything but circulate the steamy air. For me, any place that serves raw animal products should keep the air cool enough so the food is kept at a safer temperature. It was almost hard to breathe when I first walked into the restaurant, and I should have just left then.
If service were food and you could eat it, I probably would be at the ER right now. The food wasn't half bad, but the service was a disappointment. It was busy, but twice when the waiter asked for our order he turned back before we even finished our sentence, without so much as a "pardon me" or "sorry". I would not recommend this place, especially for families.
Epilogue: The person in our party who led us to Shabuway has had their restaurant suggestion privileges completely recinded during a probation period.
Yumm i heat shabu shabu. I think the price is actually fairly reasonable for a Shabu shabu places and it's a lot cheaper than eating All You Can Eat Shabu Shabu, so I definitely will choose this. I'll order the regular sized Kobe beef with the traditional broth. It's served with a side plate of veggies. It's plenty of food- I always leave overstuffed.
When you go, you'll get a sesame sauce and a soysauce. You MUST add green onions, garlic, ginger, and red chili pepper. I also add the red pepper on my meat. It adds so much to the flavors. You can get refills on your rice, just ask-- service is great here.
Thinly sliced Kobe beef shabu shabu style + sauces= Delicious!!
Disclamer: This place is not going to be for everyone. Shabu Shabu if you're wondering is similar to Chinese Hot Pot, but with thinly sliced beef that is usually very marbled(fatty). So don't think that this will be a light meal. If you really want to experience Shabu Shabu the way it should be eaten, I would not get the lean meat, because that is completely bypassing the main thing that makes Shabu Shabu unique. If you have a problem with meat or fatty beef, then you will not be able to appreciate the food here for what it is.
I thought the Lunch service at the bar here was quite good. The servers were very fast; we got our food a few minutes after ordering. And after that, were left alone to enjoy our meal, which is how it should be especially when you have a boil pot of broth in front of you. Don't get me wrong, the servers were still walking back and forth behind the bar, so it would have been no problem flagging one down for a request. The servers actually are very efficient with removing empty plates from the small amount of table real estate that you have, so you get more room to eat.
I have had lots of Shabu Shabu and the one main thing that must be good is the meat. Here at Shabuway, it is good. The meat is thinly sliced and very well marbled. A regular order gets you about 7oz of thinly sliced, raw, Kobe Style Beef. I opted for the spicy miso broth, which I highly recommend. It gives everything great flavor, but be warned, it is a bit spicy as the name indicates. The reason I only give this place 3 stars, is because it is very standard Shabu Shabu. I was not Wowed by anything here, it was all expected and that was good.
To sum it up, if you are looking for a nice Shabu Shabu experience, especially, if this is your first time trying it, Shabuway is definitely worth trying.
It's a good place to try out Shabu Shabu or as I see it, the Japanese version of Hot Pot (I'm Chinese, it's only natural to relate).
However, it IS pricey and it's Shabu, the flavors are not complex since you are adding only a few ingredients in the pot.
I would saWy.... come if you like Shabu Shabu and Hot Pot, otherwise, check out Queen House or night time Dim Sum at Fu Lam Mum.
YUM. I seriously could not stop thinking about the food here after I left this place. A regular size kobe beef is plenty of food. (I didn't think it was that expensive considering they're giving you a great cut of kobe which is typically a pain in the wallet.) I adore Japanese food, and it was nice to see a place like this outside of my home :]
Should definitely go here for lunch instead of dinner, it's cheaper!!! The meat is so fresh, suggest ordering a large. It looks a lot, but it's all an illusion. The dish comes with a side of rice and vegetables. Previously they served upon with it, but took it away. Guess it was costing them too much money. I tried to substitute the rice for udon, but they weren't too helpful in that area. A side of udon is $1.00, which is not that bad.
OMG, they finally have the spicy broth. Very delicious, I would recommend and it's not that spicy at all.
Made reservations on a Sunday night and they said "no problem". When we got there on time, it started to get crowded. Our name wasn't even on the waiting list (there were three of us) The waiter took it down and we waited about a half an hour. There were two couples that came in right after us and put their names on the list. One couple sat down on in the waiting area closest to the tables. When a table came available, they jumped up and were seated. The other couple sat down where they were and in another 15 minutes the waiter came and seated them!?! After they were seated, I told the waiter that we were actually before the two couples (one took a table that seated 4). We waited another 15 minutes before we were seated.
We had to ask several times for tea as our waiter "over looked us". When we asked for more rice, he took our bowls and never came back. We had to ask another waiter.
Then our waiter came later and brought the bill and asked us to pay as the cash register was closing! Food was OK. But then you cook it yourself. The service was terrible. Won't go back again.
I can't believe that I haven't written a review yet, considering this is one of my favorite restaurants. I first went to the location in San Mateo (which was great), but It's a long-ish drive for me. Then I discovered this one on Castro Street which is really close to where I live.
I love this location because we always get seated right away. The staff is friendly and courteous. Do allow at least 1 hour to eat (not because the service is slow, but because that's how long it takes to cook and eat your food).
Overall, a great place to have dinner:
- Ample amount of seating
- No line on weekdays, but beware on weekends/Friday night if you arrive after 7pm.
- Fresh veggies
- Tender, thin sliced beef
- They let you choose your broth (original seaweed or spicy miso)
- Generous portions (a full plate of meat and lots of veggies)
The one bad thing I can think of is how loud it gets when the place is full. The tables are seated so close together and at the bar elbows are practically touching. The feeling of intimacy is gone and you have to almost yell at each other to be heard. Not a good place for a first date, or at least go at a less crowded time.
A great way to cook your own food. We got miso broth to cook the meat in. Just perfect--flavorful, filling and satisfying.
Gets a little crowded at lunch time.
This place is all about the thin sliced meat....put it in the boiling water for 20 sec.... IT IS COOKED & you can taste the freshness of the meat...
If you are all about the broth... this is not a place you want to visit...the hot pot does not come with flavorful broth, but only hot boiling water. It is pretty related to sukiyaki. the dipping sauce: sesame sauce is my favorite, and then is the ponzu sauce...
Quality of the food is really good, service is so so, the place could get ridiculously packed during weekends and dinner hours. (I waited 20 minutes last time I came here)
Definitely a place to visit in the WINTER!
What really makes this restaurant delicious is the fact that they have kobe beef. The beef seriously looks like a work of art--perfectly and evenly marbled with sweet, delicious fat. I ended up getting the lean kobe beef since I wanted to be healthier (yay they have a healthy option!) and my boyfriend got the regular kobe beef. Each plate also comes with a serving of veggies, mushrooms, and tofu to toss into the hot pot as well.
In the end, it was nice having a mix of the two, since I'm pretty sure that if I got the regular kobe beef I would have started to get sick from the fattiness of the meat towards the end of the meal. There was a pretty big difference in terms of fat content between the lean and the regular. But that doesn't mean that I didn't steal a few pieces from my boyfriend when I felt up to it.
If you like spicy food, you should get the spicy miso broth. It adds a lot of flavor, especially to the veggies.
And ask for a spoon to sip on the broth at the end of the meal! It's delicious! :)
Alright, when it comes to shabu shabu I can get pretty damn picky. It's my dad's favorite food and we'd basically eat shabu shabu for every single occasion when we needed to "celebrate." I'm using the term "celebrate" pretty loosely here since my dad would always find any excuse to eat Shabu.
That put aside, Shabuway has definitely upped their anty with the new (well, new to me me since the last time I was here) spicy miso broth and the upgraded "kobe style beef." I think Shabuway is taking some pointers from Shabu House up in SF.
The beef is decent - I've had better but I've definitely had worse. Both the ponzu and the sesame sauce was up to par also. Again, I've had better and worse.
What makes Shabuway a bit different are the broths. I've noticed that when a place is A-OK shabu, they try to do the fusion thing with non-traditional broths to generate more hype. Personally, I think this idea TOTALLY works. It's like Shabu meets Chinese style hot pot! The spice miso broth was yummy, a lot spicier than expected but I loved it.
The traditional broth is as expected - water with a thick cut piece of seaweed and I've always been under the impression that the seaweed isn't for flavor - it's to cleanse the water. So don't worry if it doesn't taste like much at first - once you cook everything in it it makes this great beef/veggie broth that you can make udon noodle soup out of - yummy.
While I really enjoy the "non-traditional" broths, I will always prefer the traditional water/seaweed broth when the meat is high quality, the vegetables fresh, and the sauces orgasmicly delicious. So taking that into account - everything at Shabuway is decent, but I'm more of a broth fan here than a traditional shabu fan.
Sizes for their meat is reasonable. They don't give as much veggies as I would like but then they give you a lot more meat than the typical shabu place so it's a trade-off. My one major complaint was that I wish they offered more variety than beef shabu shabu. I'd like to see thin cut pork or chicken as an option - or maybe even seafood! Have you ever had thin slices of black pork for shabu? OMG it is so good.
So, if I had to be picky I would have given Shabuway 3 stars - but the service was prompt and I really like this non-traditional broth thing. And it's definitely one of the better shabu shabu places in the bay area, soooo 4 stars!
Plus the shabu was maybe 10x better last night than the first time I came here so yay to improvement.
Went this place as a small group on a Saturday. It wasn't too busy at the time, and the wait wasn't long. This is my first hotpot/shabu shabu experience. And the primary concern of my gf is smelling like food afterwards.
-Ordering
We both ordered the REGULAR KOBE BEEF. She got the regular size, and I had the large, as per usual. It was just a little more food than she needed, and large was about the right amount for me.
We had our bowl split into SPICY MISO, and the Standard SEAWEED broth. I really like the spicy with the meat, it was a little too spicy for my vegetables. The regular broth doesn't really taste like anything other than hot water, but does give you a chance to really taste your Kobe. They also provide you with two side sauces, one is a salty soy sauce base, the other is like a peanut sauce.
I enjoyed the experience of hanging out here. The atmosphere is good, although our table was a little big for us. Probably not the best place for a large group considering the table logistics, and the size of the restaurant. My only other slight hold up is that i'm not the most skilled chopsticks person, and my hands started to get tired by the end. PRICE wise, it's what I would expect for the food quantity, quality, and the atmosphere.
For the record, I've had several types of hot pot, including Korean, Chinese, and now Japanese.
This was a great experience. They seated us just before closing this afternoon, which they never needed to do in the first place. They got our water boiling and our food out quickly.
The beef is really great, as were the shrimp pot stickers. The long mushrooms were really good. I got the regular broth, but both friends with me got the spicy stuff.
There are reviews complaining about the price. My friend has a really good point about that. With the lunch beef deal, you're getting about 8oz of really good beef. When they're charging $11 for the dish and that beef is way more than $15 a pound, you're still getting a GREAT deal; doooooooooo the math!
Get their regular broth. Everything else isn't very good, especially their spicy broth. I got their lean meat, which I'll admit was cut pretty well. Their vegetables were also clean, from what I could see.
There's a sharing fee too, which is around $6-7. I found this to be somewhat outrageous.
They might have attracted more business if they changed their logo to make it look like a Subway knockoff.
My dish was alright, but I'm not planning on coming back.
I always went to Shabuway in San Mateo. It is the best shabu shabu place I've had in the Bay Area. I'm so glad that it has its Mountain View store now. It's much closer to my place.
Shabuway is definitely a great lunch place. Cheap, quick, and delicious!! I took my parents who love Japanese food here. They love the spicy miso broth very much. I personally still like the traditional seaweed broth better.
:-)
LUNCH REVIEW ONLY:
Though it was a hot summer day, shabu shabu was still an awesome option for lunch. For a regular its only about 10 bucks a person for the regular, large being 12...
~~~~~~to the ladies: small is probably fine.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~to the dudes: get a large or you'll be hungry soon after.~~~~~~~
Whats the verdict?
FOOD: Tasty with good portions
SAUCE: The sesame sauce was perfect for the meat--I couldn't get enough. The ponzu was good too for the cabbage, but only if you mixed in scallions and garlic-ginger paste
PRICE: It was a fair price.
Would I come back? Of course, I probably will soon.
I am a big fan of hot pot, and this place is a pretty chill spot. Be sure to try the spicy miso as the regular seaweed looked like plain water... Yee ShAbU sHaABuUuUu
My first time at a Japanese Hot Pot place, and I have to say it was pretty bomb.
Get the Spicy miso broth, I didn't try the seaweed broth, but to be honest it just looked like water that is used to cook the meat, whereas the spicy miso was full of spices and flavor.
It left me hungry after because it lacked some substance (noodles or more tofu would be preferable, I mean 2 measly pieces of Tofu was all they gave us). I got the regular size, but the large did come with more meat for $2 extra, maybe I should have got that, oh well there's always next time.
Flavors were deelish, loved the sesame sauce for the meat & veggies. Ponzu was good for the veggies (but I had to add the garlic ginger mash provided at the tables to really get t flavor out of it).
How about a huge plate of fresh veggies and meat? Awesome.
I've been meaning to try this place for about a year and it did not disappoint. The food served was super fresh and cooked up great in the broth. We had a "table" with a larger pot that allowed us to do both the regular broth and the spicy miso version. I loved the miso, but I also like my food with a little more kick.
The place isn't big and there was certainly a line when we left. Worth the wait in my opinion. I called during the day to see if I could get a reservation. They don't really hold a table for you, but they will put your name at the top of the list, so if there are people in line in front, you can skip ahead of them to the first available seat. To avoid that minor frustration, I think it is worth picking up the phone.
Can't wait to go back. Very yummy and satisfying.
We met with our friends here for dinner. After a whole weekend of driving, eating, and drinking, we really wanted something light and veggie heavy. So, my friend suggested this place. What a good choice! The beef was fresh and sliced thinly, the veggies were abundance, and the ponzu sauce was GREAT! I never had hot pot this way before because our family always had it with chinese saute sauce and soy sauce. So, to have it with the ponzu sauce was something new and great. We would come here again for some shabu shabu!
The food here is simple but so, so satisfying.
What I got:
* Pot of boiling watery seaweed-based broth
* Raw veggies
* Platter of paper-thin lean Kobe beef,
* Two dipping sauces (opaque sesame and transparent ponzo)
* Bowl of white sticky rice
Yes, I could easily prepare this meal at home. But there's something about the tenderness of the beef, the aromatic sauces, and the modern black-and-red ambience that makes Shabuway well worth the drive. I'm endlessly fascinated by how quickly the red beef turns brown in the broth. The warm, thin cuts of beef soak up the flavor of the sauces superbly. I'm definitely coming back!
Yum! Thin sliced kobe beef and spicy miso broth is all you need to know.
Like some other reviewers have said, more tofu would have been nice. The plate of veggies would have been very substantial if this were a salad, but it's hard to pick up spinach leaves with chopsticks from the dipping broth.
Service isn't bad if you take a seat at the bar.
The food is simple, but it's very satisfying and substantial. The meat as it looks on the plate doesn't seem like it would fill you up, but trust me, it's plenty of food - enough for two people actually.
I don't know how they did it, but I miraculously walked out of here NOT smelling like meat!
So I had lunch here the other day for the first time and definitely recommend this spot if you're craving for some shabu!
We tried the seaweed and miso broth. The miso broth is by far more flavorful. The seaweed broth had 1 piece of seaweed, just one! Needless to say, there wasn't much flavor out of it. That was the only negative.
The kobe beef, veggies, dipping sauces, decor, service were all great.
Get yourself some shabu!
I came here with my family on a Sunday night. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a table to seat us. The menu is pretty basic, beef and a few other items. We had the combo broth (seaweed/spicy) along with 5 beef orders, fatty tuna over rice, noodles, and an extra order of veggies.
We were promptly given our food and broth. However, they do not give ladles. How are we suppose to drink the soup? The beef quality is okay, but NOTHING compared to the shabu shabu places in Japan where they serve real WAGU and KOBE beef. The veggies looked kinda old and the fatty tuna was NOT fresh. The noodles were good. The dipping sauces are good.
Overall the quality isn't very good. The service is what people have said in prior reviews - sucks. They look like they are in high school or college so they don't really care too much about service. We would have to flag them down hard if we needed something. I'm not sure if we will come back here as I'm sure there are better shabu shabu places. I would rather go to Little Sheep for hot pot.
I had always had Chinese style shabu and wanted to try the Japanese. Therefore, I came here despite the reviews on crappy service.
The food was pretty good with fresh meat, veggies and dipping sauces. I was wondering about the seaweed broth though which consisted of one small part of a seaweed leaf about the size of a poker chip in a bowl of water. I wasn't impressed at all with no seaweed taste.
Nevermind any personality or good attitude here in service. In order to get refills of water or anything else, you have to constantly wave them down. They put the bill on our table halfway through the meal. We asked them for a ladle for the soup. They came back with two soup spoons and said they had no ladle which I found to be interesting given every other shabu restaurants I'd been too always gives you one since broth is part of the meal. They also proceeded to remove the garlic, onions and another condiments in little jars before we completed our meal without saying anything.
Like I said the food is okay but the service is total crap. The way these people operate they need to turn it into self serve. These guys are trying to push you out of here as fast as they can even though there are several other tables available.
omg omg omg!
They've added spicy miso broth as an option to their repertorie and with the premium kobe beef it is yum yum killer!!

Shabu shabu shabudoo! I'm in love with Japanese fondue!
I am definitely adding Shabuway to my list of… Read more »
This was my first time at a shabu shabu place. Lunch was $11.99 for the large plate and it looks to me like it's worth the extra $2. I went with the spicy miso and I'm glad I did. The one I was with got the other broth but I forgot what it was called. It looked like it was just water. I didn't try it though.
If it's your first time, go with someone who has been here before so they can show you how to do it. You gotta kinda cook the food yourself, so I guess there's a bit of a learning curve. Well, as much of a learning curve as "add stuff into pot" necessitates.
While I was eating, I overheard some people criticizing the fact that the restaurant has you cook your own food (that it's somehow lazy on the restaurant's part), but I personally like it. Like some of those Korean BBQ places. I like it because it gives me something to do while eating and I can make my food the way I like it while learning a thing or two.
Anyway, give this place a try sometime, especially if you're like me and never had shabu shabu before.
one star is for the service that we received. we had a group friends, but one of us wasn't very hungry so only 5 people out of 6 ordered shabushabu for $12.99, but the waitor said that the store policy requires the 6th person to pay additional $6.50 since she will not be eating and will be sharing with another person's food, despite the fact that she wanted to order a side order by herself.... we also asked if by paying $6.50 more, would we get more food, the answer was no...
the waitor didn't sound very friendly when he explained the concept to us and even he said it's a ridiculous policy..... i think it's wrong that restaurant dictate what the customers have to order and if we didn't want to order the big expensive dish, then the customer had to pay penalty for it. i will never go back to this restaurant.. it was a very uncomfortable feeling throughout the entire meal...
two-three stars for the food, the fatty tuna over rice was ok, except it was grounded tuna, the shabu shabu with seaweed soup was almost tasteless..
To sum it up: Japanese Fondue Goodness
I checked out this spot on the recommendation of a co-worker. 3 of us went there for lunch and ordered 4 plates of Kobe and the spicy broth. We tore that meat up like a pack of hungry lions. The veggies served on the side were fresh and went good with the dressing they provided.
I'm definitely going back when I have another urge to gorge myself on some red meat.
No green tea. No green tea? Why, no green tea in JAPANESE RESTAURANT ?! Bring your own. Good food. If you don't know shabu-shabu, remember you cook it in boiling pot of water. Waitperson throws food on your table, and you do it. You the cook. They just throw it, okay? You work. They throw. Bar more comfortable than table for two. I like the meat with meat and more meat. Yum.
Something has changed with the restaurant... Their sesame seed sauce is a little different. I can't put my finger on it but I definitely do add more to it. Before I would never touch the sauce except for the red pepper. Shabu is all in the sauce. They also took out the udon noodles too! I usually don't eat the rice and just have it with noodles.. but not anymore. So sad..
Last Thursday my boyfriend and I ate here for dinner. We were hoping to share a "large" portion of the lean kobe beef plate, but they said there was an extra $6.95 charge.... so we ordered 2 regular beef plates. To be honest, that's a whole lot of meat! We would have been good with 1 large portion.
We had the plain, seaweed broth (the traditional). Nothing special... but that's what the dipping sauces are for.
Service was definitely not that great, but you don't really need much attention because you're busy swishing away... You may have to order 2 waters at the beginning to ensure that you're stocked during your meal.
Shabuway isn't as good as some of the Shabu Shabu joints in soCal, but it's a million times better than the one in downtown San Jose's Japan town that's for sure. I would eat here again, if I had a craving for some lean meat and veggies.
I love the dipping sauce they give for dipping! Don't forget to add in TON of garlic in the dipping sauce! The dipping sauce and the kobe beef slices went so well together; without it, the sliced kobe beef would be boring and plain.
Mmmhhh, shabu shabu! I didn't know what to expect when I went for the first time, now I know it is basically the Japanese take on fondue chinoise (or fondue chinoise is the Swiss take on shabu shabu? Who cares, they are similar, that's all I wanted to say!).
Last time we ordered lean beef and I liked it even more than the regular beef. There was no extra charge for the lean variety, so that's what I'll go for from now on.
They also serve thick cut beef if asked, I haven't tried it, but the lady next to us seemed to love it!
Service seemed fine to me, friendly and efficient.
I have to admit that this is the only place where I have ever had shabu shabu, so I have no comparisons. But I have had a lot of excellent fondue chinoise in Switzerland...and whenever I crave it, it is just easier to go down to Castro than fly across the ocean (has anyone ever come across authentic fondue chinoise in the bay area? I haven't!).
A couple of friends and I found ourselves in Mountain View. Being unfamiliar with restaurants in the area, we walked around and finally decided to eat at Shabuway.
Food:
I ordered the beef with the spicy miso broth, definitely a good choice! The meat was a little fatty, but with the broth and the soy dipping sauce it had enough taste. Standard veggies also came with the meal.
Service:
Service was fairly quick even though we sat down near closing time.
Atmosphere:
Most tables were full even near closing time! We sat at the bar as there were no tables open when we came in. It seemed kind of small for this type of restaurant, but maybe that's what works in that location. The only other shabu shabu restaurant I have tried was in LA.
Value:
The price for each meal made this a great value.
Overall, I only have one other restaurant to compare this to and I felt satisfied with my experience here. As mentioned above, the beef tasted fine after dipping it in the sauces. However, I remember it tasting better at the other location.
My usual order: plain seaweed broth, lean kobe beef. Yes, the lean kobe beef is a little rough compared to its fatty counterpart, but much healthier. The sauce totally makes up for it.
Swish, swish, sesame sauce and then panzo (sp?) sauce and I'm a happy camper!
Every friend I've brought to this place said they will go back! And in comparison to Shabu House in SF, this is much cheaper and just as tasty!
I was a little hesitant about going to this restaurant for lunch, just for the fact that I really didn't know what it was.
We ordered two large meat plates that came with veggies and rice. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to finish the large but I guess meat always look more before it's cooked. They use "Kobe" beef there ... yummy =) There was a choice between regular seaweed broth or spicy miso broth, we got the regular one. It was pretty plain, we should have chosen the spicy miso broth.
Not bad as far as cooking the veggies and meat. Everything cooks pretty fast. What I really like was the dipping sauce. The one thing that I couldn't believe about the place is that they have no "HOT SAUCE" =(
The service was good. They came around to make sure that we had enough sauce and refilled our water. We actually ordered another small plate of meat and it came out fairly quickly. So we were able to just keep eating!
I would go back again and try the spicy miso broth and bring my own hot sauce ... LOL
