Art and his team are nothing short of AWESOME.
Efficient, organized, responsive and communicative. I've been using them for a while now (over a year, maybe even two) and I have all my socks :)
They do my laundry and even handle special requests for delicates. So far haven't done dry-cleaning, yet.
I'm very pleased and happy.
Keep up the good work! -

my experience with dry cleaning @sfwash might not have been a-ok, but I like their customer service.
art emailed me and said that he will pick up the cost of dry cleaning my next jacket for free.
The pickup-drop off is really convenient, so I think I will give them another shot.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Art and his team have worked very hard in earning my business over the past three years.
I can sort by color, by water temp, by bleach/no bleach, by whatever; all of my preferences are saved online. Regular pickups and deliveries are great, and they package up my wash and fold laundry really well.
They've even called a couple times when things end up in the wrong bag, just to check. -

We have been using SF Wash for some time now and it's a wonderful (and environmentally responsible!) company.
They are very honest, and have returned cash we forgot in our pockets several times. That sealed the deal for me off the bat, and we haven't even bothered checking out competitors' discounted trial offers.
There are other great reasons to try SF Wash!
- Nice selection of detergents, & they offer earth-friendly options
- Read more about their environmental practices here:
https://www.sfwash.com...
- Reliable and punctual
- Range of delivery locations is much better than other competitors
- Prices are actually very reasonable for the large loads we send off
Several people have commented on this being expensive, but it's not. The three $ signs are not accurate.
Of course it's more expensive than washing your clothes at home, but for those of us who have to go to a laundromat and use coin-op machines, there's not much of a difference in price (my boyfriend and I spend an average of only ~ $15 more to have ALL THE WORK DONE FOR US by SF Wash). Laundromats and detergent are not cheap, people! And the amount of extra time it has allowed back into our weekends is priceless. -

Three Cheers for SF Wash.
Wait. Scratch that.
5 Stars for SF Wash.
It's customer service like this that makes me wish my dryer could be broken every day.
While I can't afford to send my clothes out all the time, I'm more than happy with SF Wash and will use them again for sure.

I started using Art and SFWash when I lived on a giant hill and didn't have a laundromat nearby. Three years, two apartments and several hundred brown paper wrappers (recycled!) later, I am an SFWash addict.
Yes, there's a premium to pay for getting your laundry washed, folded and delivered to your door but it's worth it...and the prices aren't THAT much worse than using a laundromat if you don't have in-unit laundry. I recommend giving them a key to your building so you don't have to be woken up at 6 AM or worry about timing. The girl who picks up/drops off my laundry doesn't just put it in the lobby - she hauls it to the 4th floor and puts it at my doorstep. Great service.
Other folks have complained about Art but I've found him to be pretty fair. When I've missed the 7 PM deadline, I've emailed him and he's been happy to pick up my laundry the next morning.
One thing I don't like: when you send in delicates, they safety pin each item individually to a hanger, which is kind of annoying. NO MORE WIRE HANGERS. -

I don't know what I would do without SFwash. I am fussy about my laundry being done a certain way, especially when it comes to using green detergents. However, for health reasons, I can't do it all myself. Thank goodness for SFwash. Schedule today, they pick up tomorrow, and bring it back the day after. No fuss, no muss and friendly too. All I have to do is sort my laundry and write instructions on a big piece of paper e.g. warm gentle wash, low tumble dry. It's also nice that I don't have to send my occasional dry cleaning somewhere else.
In my opinion, SFwash helps San Francisco maintain its healthy, pioneering reputation. I'm so proud! -
Review from Jason M.
San Francisco, CA
I have been a regular weekly customer of SF Wash for several months, and was reasonably satisfied until today.
However, on my last load of laundry I included a small blanket - the kind one would use on a sofa. Having done my own laundry for years, I can say with great empirical certainty that it doesn't take one damn bit of extra labor to wash such a blanket, nor does its fabric require a separate wash, and it takes *less* work to fold it. So you can imagine my shock today at seeing SF Wash had tacked on a $5 gotcha fee for this blanket.
Gotcha fees like that are abusive and offensive. They make me want to take my business elsewhere. I am really sad to see SF Wash sinking to this low, especially after I praised their former lack of gotcha fees in my original review.1 Previous Review: Show all »

San Francisco, CA
Under the weather and reduced to having the strength of a wee mouse, I was staring at six loads of heavy laundry and cursing the fact that I live on the top floor of my apartment building. But thanks to a quick (desperate) Yelp search, I realized there was hope.
One quick online form completion later, sfwash was scheduled to come by to pick up my laundry and deliver it back fresh and folded in 24 hours. It seemed too good to be true.
Right on time the next morning, the most adorable woman showed up to pick up my laundry bags. She was like an angel. A Laundry Angel. (Keep in mind I was running a fever.) She simultaneously lifted six loads like it was no thing and whisked away down the stairs.
The next day, everything was returned in lovely condition. The price was not much more than using my neighborhood coin-op laundromat, and I was able to just be sick on my couch and not have to worry about strenuous chores.
Whether you're lazy, sick, busy, whatever - this service is gold. -

I LOVE LOVE LOVE SFWash!
Sometimes work and yes I'll admit it, laziness, gets the better of me when it comes to laundry. Plus the dryer in my apt building sucks! Solution: SFWash. Especially for big blankets that don't even fit in my apt building's washer. They always pick up and drop off on time. And the lady who usually picks up the laundry must be in some kind of Strong Woman Competition 'cause DAMN! Our biggest laundry bag can get pretty heavy and she just carries that thing like it's nothing up and down our 3 flights of stairs. I try to help, but she's just like "I got it." KUDOS!! The laundry is neatly folded and wrapped in paper packages and the prices are totally worth it. You can choose whatever type of detergent/softner/bleach you like or you can provide your own. SFWash is such a time saver and I've never had a problem with them losing or damaging any of my clothes/linen. They make me feel spoiled. I can dig that! -
Review from Ki K.

I hate to do it... but not getting back all your clothes is a big downer. Especially when the clothing missing is your underwear (not my husband's underwear, or any socks, or anything else... just my girlie underwear)
Art has a great business, and the delivery guy is so nice. But the places that Art has the laundry done are not that great (hence missing items...)
When I called to complain about the missing items Art told me that losing girl's underwear was highly unlikely because all the people who do the laundry are "little old ladies" (direct quote from Art). I am not sure I feel much better about losing my unmentionables to little old ladies.
So it is with so much sadness that I am switching to another service. I'll miss you SFWash, but I will be glad to know I will have clean underwear tomorrow.
*******An update: ********
The owner of SF Wash has called and emailed me, requesting that I remove my one star post.
I feel that you (the person coming here to read about other people's experience) deserves to know the good and the bad, after all, isn't this is the spirit of Yelp? To only post the positive would be great for businesses but isn't really fair to the consumer.
For the owners of SF Wash to try to get you to ignore an unfavorable post by trying to convince you that any mistake on their part must have been the fault of the customer should tell you a little more about their business ethics.
Art's claims in his response are false, but by the way I was contacted to remove the post I am not surprised at what he posted. SF Wash seems to be desperate to only have positive posts and has responded dishonestly to discredit negative feedback.
For other yelpers, be forewarned that if you have a bad experience here and post it, Art may go from being a seemingly normal guy to somewhat of a bully.1 Previous Review: Show all »

San Francisco, CA
For many months, we loved our magical laundry. SF Wash provides a potentially fabulous service...until there is a problem. Art, the owner of this business is, at best, ill-equipped and unprofessional in a difficult situation. He would rather be hostile & argumentative than give proper customer service and keep a loyal customer happy. He proved himself incapable of having a reasonable conversation towards a solution.
The first thing that happened was that my brand new shirt came back ruined (bleached). Not a giant big deal - it was just a cotton polo shirt. I called Art to ask that it be replaced. He told me to take it back to the store, that it must be a problem with the dye in the fabric. I thought that was an odd response, but thought maybe he knew more than I did about these things, so I followed his advice.
Next, half of our wash order was lost (which seems not impossible in this kind of arrangement). So, when we called Art, he was strangely annoyed that we wanted our clothing found and returned that night. He did find our clothes, but they were mixed into someone else's order, so he brought the whole lot over for us to sort through on our hallway floor while he stood there grunting and sighing (he told us that he had other plans that night). He never apologized for the whole issue, which just bugs me. He said that his new driver was "an idiot". He just would not take any kind of responsibility for the problem. Sooo, he told us that our next order would be free. We called and told him that we really wanted both THAT order and our next one to be no charge. He agreed that that made sense. Not so bad so far...we were glad it was over and we could go back to being happy with our laundry. We both felt like we had successfully navigated out of a mess, and we'd advocated for good customer service. But since Art had been so strangely annoyed and distracted with us, we emailed him to confirm our arrangement, so that it would be clear. Art did not remember agreeing to this, and offered that the messed up order or our next order would be free, not both. I called to clarify. Of course the order that was such a bother would not be charged. Our next order should be free, as a courtesy for our trouble. While I calmly tried to reason with him, the phone call quickly degenerated, ending in Art yelling and hanging up. Several times. It would have been so easy to keep our business, but after Art's infantile belligerence and reneging on our agreement, we had to go with another company, with whom we are quite happy.
******* UPDATE: So far I've gotten eight notifications that SFWash has revised his comments to my review. He's changed his story quite a bit with each revision. First, he says that I threatened him with bad reviews, then he says that I demanded 2 free wash orders. Then he says that I demanded a "bunch" of free orders. He goes from losing half our order to only losing "5 pieces of clothing and a couple of towels."
None of that is the way things actually happened.
As an aside: It also seems odd that in older negative reviews, when the writer refers to Art's angry or strange comments, the comments mysteriously "disappear." I think you guys, on Yelp, deserve to know what kind of "business man" Art really is.**********Comment from Art B. of Sfwash 5/1/2011

You know, sometimes I wish I had a wife. You know: the old-fashioned, probably-never-existed kind, who would hand me my coffee in the morning, vacuum the house all day, and greet me with a highball in the evening. I'd blithely go off to work, knowing my home was humming along like a well-oiled machine.
Alas, I have no wife, and my tastes run more toward husbands anyway. But SF Wash makes me feel like I have a wife, at least insofar as they whisk up to my door at 6:30 in the am, relieve me of my stinky socks, and show up again the next day, gracefully plopping beautifully-folded laundry, wrapped in cheerful blue paper, at my door. On the fourth floor.
Do they hand me a pipe? No. Do they massage my aching shoulders? Not so far. But boy, am I happy not to have to hang out at the wash n' fold for hours on end. I'm not sure if I can afford to do this with any regularity, but when life gets crazy, there is one chore that I know I won't have to do. -

This is my first yelp review ever. I eat, drink, and take part in many other SF services. I've lived inte bay area all my life. But my yelp review hisitancy has always been one of consistency. How do I know that the hole-in-the-wall thai place I review doesn't have off nights other 360 days of the year?
SF wash has been consistant, reliable, and down right great! Art is extremely responsive. We get weekly service and ask that our pick up and drop off be within a 30 minute range. For over 4 years, every week, our laundry has been picked up and dropped off mostly within that range.
There have been very rare cases of missing laundry and if I've ever had an issue or needed to change my pick up or drop off day, Art has been extremeley accommodating.
We are able to specify how we want our laundry done and I know that I can count on them week after week. When I price out my time, the cost to send out our laundry is well worth it.
Thank you Art and team for enhancing my life - literally!! -

I live at the top of a very large hill. For three weeks, I stood at the top of the hill, old lady cart full of dirty chonies, staring down to the wash'n'fold below. And for three weeks, despite my best intentions, I repeated, "nah, f--k that noise, I am SO not pushing these clothes back up this hill in two hours."
And there you have it, folks. After going to a hair appointment in clothes that I'd normally wear to a wedding, after not being able to find my cat for twenty minutes because she was burrowed in a nearly 30 pound pile of dirties, I caved and scheduled a pick-up with SF Wash. They picked up my clothes Thursday morning, whisked them away, and returned them this morning still warm from the drier. They made magic happen without me leaving the house. Now if only I could find someone to take out the trash... -

I love, love, love Blue Water Laundry. My relationship with them has just begun, and I have to admit it was a little rocky at first. But, like many relationships, it was well worth the initial work.
When I first submitted my order for laundry, I somehow missed the final wee, tiny, itty bitty "submit" off the bottom of the page. Then next morning at 6 am, PICK UP TIME, I was up, dressed and waiting on the steps, laundry bundled and ready to go. And waiting, and waiting. I began to have a nasty suspicion. Finally, being smart, but a little slow, I checked my online profile at https://www.bluewaterl... - sure enough, no order!
The next time, a Wednesday, late afternoon, I put in another order, this time vowing to commit and submit to the clean, alas, I was too late for a Thursday pick up with Friday delivery. I knew the clothes were all dirty, but I might need them over the weekend anyway. So, I opted for Monday pick up with Tuesday delivery instead.
Monday finds me ready and waiting, once again. Alas! Some foul error has come to pass and there is no nice person at the door come the appointed time. This could have been enough to sour me on the whole service. However, one call set things straight. I spoke to Art, who was apologetic, never defensive and incredibly helpful. He promised to come by for my laundry within 45 minutes. About 20 minutes later, there he was, on my doorstep ready and willing to take the wash.
Come Tuesday morning and Art, all helpful, is at the door with my clean clothes all wrapped in blue paper and nicely labeled.
The only thing that could make this service better is if they would come over and put the clothes away for me.
The details, you ask? A little over $30 for a big bag of laundry (bag provided). That's two weeks of laundry for me. They separate the colors and allow you to choose your (eco-friendly) detergent, bleach and softener.
They also do dry cleaning. I'll keep you posted. -

Art and his crew are speedy, professional, and they've never shrunk a pair of my pants!
Seriously, we've been using this service for at least 5 months (maybe even longer), and it's hands-down our favorite luxury.
sfwash is even eco-conscious and will let you select detergents that are friendlier for our environment.
We've really enjoyed the convenience, friendliness, and professional service they deliver. -

SF Wash is FANTASTIC. Not only is their service great and reasonably priced, but they've actually saved me more than once when I've forgotten to put in an order before 8pm. One time I didn't put the order in on time, and they actually PICKED UP AND RETURNED THE CLOTHES THE SAME DAY. Because they are awesome.
I also like to have a lot of things separated out and hung up to dry, and they've never confused my order or made a mistake. Great attention to detail, and who can resist fresh, clean-smelling laundry nicely folded in brown paper?
Bonus points for the eco-friendly detergent and dry cleaning options, too. -

It has been proven by decades of government sponsored scientific research that your clothing smells sweeter and fits better when it's washed, fluffed and folded by someone else.
I'm so happy I found this place! At $31 per huge bag of clothes, done to my specifications, this is a luxury I can afford on a regular basis. Even though I have a rarely-used laundromat right across the street, this is one chore I would rather leave to someone else. I love Blue Water Laundry! -

**Update*** They've since gotten much better about pick up and drop off reliability. And they now offer green dry cleaning services.
Blue Water Laundry will pick up your dirty clothes, and then drop them off to you at your home, work... where ever! You have NO idea how much time this saves! Unfortunately the service isn'tt totally reliable, but if you're willing to play phone tag and maybe not get your laundry back by when you had originally requested, you're good. I can't say enough great things about sfwash. They do an amazing job, have a great team of people, and even accommodate your detergent preferences!
We have been using sfwash for our laundry pick up and delivery for over a year and have loved every minute of it.
Since I have started using their service, over 5 of my friends and the company I work for all use sf wash for their laundry needs-now that says something about a company. And with far more reasonable prices than most average wash and folds (which you still have to drop and pick up), let's be honest-this is the way to go. I love you sfwash! -

This business is amazing!! I was having a tough week, allergy wise and decided to just clean EVERYTHING, but was too busy at work to deal..
They picked everything up on time, returned it wrapped nicely in paper within complimentary bags... and it was VERY INEXPENSIVE....
I've hauled much less laundry to wash and folds in the mission, and payed much more.
I don't thing I will ever do my own laundry again.... -

Decent, just a trifle pricey. For me, it's not the Wash that's awesome. I'm fine with Washing everything myself. No problem. It's the darned Folding that gets me down.
My only real problem I've had was when I handed them my laundry and there was a rather nice sweater that had snuck in there somewhere, and they shrunk it. If I'd been doing it myself, I would have noticed and taken it out. Meh. Use caution.
They also called me once and said that they wouldn't be able to make their promised delivery time, and asked if it was okay to change it (NO, I have a train to catch in the morning thank you), and grumpily settled on catching a late train (since I needed my clothes)... only to have the guy show up at the normally scheduled time after all. O....kay, whatever. -

This was a first time experience with SFWash and I think that I will be looking elsewhere in the future.
No doubt, the convenience of a service that picks up and drops off your laundry is great, but I was confused by how they managed to miss some small things:
- Despite filling out my order online, they mispelled my last name (minor, sure)
- Despite making a note about having some shirts hung and pressed, I received them folded in with the rest of my laundry (pretty annoying considering they were fairly wrinkled)
- They told me my bill was for $32 when they dropped off (which is the minimum, because the shirts were probably treated as normal wash & fold the price was probably only about 25 so they just bumped it up to their minimum)
- I got my credit card bill and they charged me an extra 4 bucks when they ran my card.
Minor props for being punctual and getting some stains out of a few ties I thought were destined for the trash. -

Blue Water Laundry has become my latest guilty pleasure. I hate doing laundry. Just thinking about it ruins my day! However, this service not only picks up the laundry from your door, but also delivers it back to you the following day! Talk about service.
The owner, Jeff, is an absolutely awesome wonderful person to talk to (even when I just wake up!). Blue Water has never failed me on reliability. I think they've worked out all their kinks and are now even more superb!
Their environmentally friendly stance along with Tenderloin resident employees abates any guilt I may feel from never having to do my laundry again! -

With work, visitors, and such, I ended up with a huge mountain of laundry. Time was of the essence, so I caved and called SFWash. Wait, there's a 5% discount if I hit 40 pounds? No way that'll happen... sure, I don't have a scale in the apartment, but if I can lug the laundry bags down the stairs, surely they most only total... 30lbs together, right?
Nope. I got 60lbs of laundry back, and at $1.10/lb, that's a lot of dough... SF Wash may be great for the every-so-often-do-my-wash-please-please-pretty-ple ase moment, but I can't afford for it to be an every-other-week thing! I will say, though, that everything came back fresh smelling (using 7th Generation detergent) and folded in pretty blue paper. -

I can honestly say this service has changed my life. For over two years I've lived in a building with no laundry in a very busy neighborhood. There is no laundromat that is walking distance and I also don't have a parking spot. So the point is, if I want to do laundry, I need to carry it down stairs, go get my car, pick it up, drive to a laundromat, find parking, carry laundry there, wash/dry clothes, carry back to car, drive home, find parking, carry landry home and up stairs.
It literally drives me CRAZY.
So for a while now I've been lugging my laundry to a dry cleaners/wash&fold about 4 blocks away and paying a ton of money for Marina rates. Plus if I brought a lot of stuff that was heavy, I would have to drive there and find parking, perpetuating the pain in ass that is my problem.
Needless to say, when my neighbor told me about SF Wash I thought it was too good to be true. Well it is, but it's actually true. They already have a key to my building, so they pick up my laundry outside my apt. door every other week, and drop it back outside my apt. door 24 hours later. The first time I set it up, was like almost 7pm the night before while stuck at work, 5 minutes online filling out the info, and I got a call immediately from someone there to confirm everything. It was that easy.
Tomorrow will be my 3rd time using this service and I am already a HUGE fan and will refer this to all my friends! I wish I had thought of this service myself! Thank you! -

The best the owner can do is say their customer has a "drug" problem instead of taking ownership of his own drug problem. In fact, he describes in another customer comment how upset he was and actually uses a lie about his daughters birthday and then exposes his own carelessness by saying, "it could make a man drink!"
You can tell what class this guy comes from by the way he treats his customers. No apologies, no ownership of any of the things he did but instead has to draw back on blaming a customer for something that is clearly his own problem(drugs) and the moron admitted it too. What a poor sensibility. Why would anyone want to get their clothes done by such an amateur. Stay tuned for his next comment on how we all have drug problems and that is why him and his staff are so incompetent. This guy should seriously start a comedy show. What a complete joke.
This is the worst experience I have ever had with any business ever in SF- and I've lived here 15 years. Besides this review, I have been in contact with the Dept. of consumer affairs to report the business due to the lack of professionalism and the lies you tell your customers.
Allow me to go over the details of our transaction. Last week, I called and you answered the phone. You gave a detailed account of your services. You said you would pick up and drop off my laundry at my door step.
I agreed and we set a time for the next day. The next day you called me and said you were ringing my bell when in fact I was home and there was nobody buzzing me. You blamed me and said your driver was correct and I was the one who was wrong, that in fact he was there but that you would try again tomorrow. I was clear about my address, and you even admitted to me that he "gave up" looking for it.
The next day you came
back and picked up the laundry. You told me you would deliver the laundry back the next afternoon however the next afternoon
the same thing happened. Nobody came to deliver anything but you blamed me again for not being there
even though I never left and made it clear to you over and over again that I am here all day because I work and live here. I have given
you complete directions and you- yourself have been to my address. Finally we coordinated a time for the next day and you just
dropped off the laundry. Unfortunately, when opening up the laundry, I found postage stamped crumpled little t-shirts
and wrinkled laundry. To be honest, as I kept opening up each bag, I was scared to see what damage you had done next.
Each bag I opened was worse. Then, I called you and told you.
You said, you were sorry and that you would come within the hour and come redo the laundry and pick it up.
A half hour later i received a phone message from you saying, "I'm sorry, we're not coming and we'll send you a check.
we no longer want you as a customer". I can't tell you how incensed I am with the way you treated me and how you run your
business. This is completely unacceptable. I am really shocked that you would first blame someone for not being there
just because your driver couldn't find the address, then provide horrible service (not fold the laundry of which you say you do
in your advertising), then apologize and promise you would redo it and then actually blow off your client, leave them
a message and say you are going to send a check. In fact, weeks later, I found NO check to me. You are a liar, and a now have lied to your customer twice! I'm astounded you are a in business. I also have seen that since then you have changed your website to reflect your defense. I don't know about you, but this clearly states you are guilty.
On top of the two lies and not sending a check for the postage size clothes returned to me, your driver never gave me back any change and you lost my favorite jacket.
You advertise you have such high ratings on yelp but those things need to change depending on days like this. People need to know the truth about
how customers are being treated.
You lack integrity, honesty and above all, ethics. It's a shame you are in business.
I have also cut and copy your words you shared on yelp to another dissatisfied customer, "We ALWAYS re-clean any items, free of charge, if a customer is not completely satisfied" - what a lie.Comment from Art B. of Sfwash 5/2/2011

I LOVE THIS SERVICE!!!
These guys are always friendly, timely, and extremely responsive. If you hate doing laundry like me, and don't mind paying for wash and fold, then there's absolutely no reason not to use these guys!
To be all eBay about it: "A+++ WOULD RECOMMEND" -

very nice. recently just gotten sick from the flu, and had tons of laundry to do. I HATE doing laundry, everything about it, so I had to figure something out. This service actually comes out to your house, picks up your laundry, and brings it back to you the next day! Its a godsend! not as expensive as I thought, but would pay any price for anyone to wash my clothes. I put my clothes out in garbage bags and they returned it in reusable nylon bags (nice), they wrapped everything in blue paper and separated accordingly for easy organizing (very nice), and when i paid the deliverer (dont know his name, but very nice), they accepted atm! sweet! sfwash rocks my socks.

SF Wash saves me and everyone around me from the misery of folding laundry. That alone is worth 5 stars in my opinion, but it couldn't be an easier setup. I met the driver for the first delivery and gave him a key to drop off the clean clothes in my hallway. 24 hours later, I had a bag of cleaned and nicely folded laundry sitting in a courtesy draw string bag outside my door. SUCCESS!

I am largely a fan because they are open late hours for picking up dry cleaning. It's a bit informal - they are technically "open" for a late shift, but what it really means is there is a person cleaning up the laundromat who will go to the back to retrieve your dry cleaning for you, and doesn't really speak English at all. Which works for me, since it makes me practice my Spanish (MUCH appreciated by the attendant) AND it means I have my dry cleaning back to wear the next day.
Oh also I think they are pretty cheap - $3.50 per item, not bad.
Haven't used their laundry services because there's a laundromat much closer to me. -

How can you NOT like a wash service that comes to your front door, picks up all your laundry, washes it, folds it, wraps it up in neat little packages and delivers right back to your front door? Genius!!
