Some people have said to me, "straight people don't have their own huge celebration!" Well, that may be true, but I see this as more than a festival for gays. I see this as a festival for freedom. I am not a gay man and I love this party!

I volunteered at the festival for two years before I had my liver transplant and plan to do it again in 2010. I love the sense of love, freedom and hope and I enjoy seeing people freely celebrating who  they are.

I will also make a confession right here and now. Naked people walking the streets really interest me. Cops just letting them be interest me even more.

It is almost guaranteed that you will see some of the craziest stuff that you have ever seen in your life during Pride weekend. I once saw a midget wearing only a leather g-string juggling flaming sticks. Now that is some serious coolness!

I have hundreds/maybe thousands of Pride photos that I could post. The colors are magic, the people are fun and the parties are freaking incredible. Do this! Everyone should crack open their minds and attend this love fest at least once!

LET PEOPLE LOVE. WE ALL DESERVE THAT.

Ventured into the Castro for a Pink party yesterday and last night also went down for the festivities afterwards. I'm a straight guy so I was just simply amazed at all sorts of people that showed up. Some costume, some not, some completely naked, some half naked, dancing in the streets, fighting in the streets, passed out in the streets, hot sweaty clubs and bars with a general vibe of what they all share.

That being the celebration or reason to celebrate anything.

Completely packed streets of Castro. You could not walk here. You were more of pushing your way through gyrating crowds of naked men and women. Yes, even women were naked. It was all in good fun but just too hard to move around here. Started to feel claustrophobic.

Was glad to get home safe...until next year. Party on!

There were so many people in castro it was great--just being surrounded by so many excited people was fun. I went inside the sex shops and was shocked by immense dildos. The dyke march had dykes, transsexuals, lipstick lesbians, straights, and lots of titties. We sat on a car and watched the parade proceed and had pics taken of us as well.

Afterwards we went to Good Vibrations where there was free food and a free auction. Then we danced. Pride is BYOB, so BYOB and look classy while you chug outta your big 2 liter of coke and rum.

Yet again, its come and gone. And yet again, here I am all a twitter about next years.

This has ALWAYS been a huge favorite of mine. SF's Pride can not be matched. The sheer volume of supporters, events, food, people. It sends a clear message.  Not only is it for celebrating Gay Pride, but all so to help spread the notion of being able to look past the little things and get to the core of something. People are People. That's it. No more, no less.

Pride is a festival to celebrate all types of people to come together and enjoy meeting new people and seeing other aspects of life. The colors, the presence, the pure enjoyment of living. This is a celebration of all people's getting along.  No judging of dress, looks, and partners.

This is not just a "gay" holiday, its a celebration of life. Color, sex, ability, food, music, its all for everyone. For me there is no separation, to judge on WHO you choose to love. Love is everlasting and NON gender.  Pride will always be a love of mine. And to be able to spend it with those of whom I love so much, means the world to me. For me, Pride is a daily celebration.

Peace and Love to you all.................

one minute boyfriend and i had the streets all to ourselves next thing you know we are fighting to get thru the crowd but as the sun started going down the bnight got interesting they had a hanging Disco Ball wooo hooo Of course I danced under the disco ball they had about 10 -15 DJS  every turn we made there was a different set up people dancing and enjoying themselves I never saw othe same thing twice...

This is not only for those beautiful gay people but it is for any body who is willing to let free and have a fantastic time

i've never been to pride before and my friend finally dragged me out of the house last night. here's how my night went:

1: lots of drunk people on muni. one half naked chick hit on my friend, her other friend became our new BFF [she loves us. she told us so] and offered us free jager. she was also sipping her own drink concoction out of her camelpak haha

2: we get downtown and the weather's perfect. i love warm nights =]

3: lots of various body parts flopping all over the place. lots of awesome costumes as well

4: various stages set up along the street with music blasting from the speakers

5: i was offered a free beer while i was waiting to get inside. FREE BEER.

6: FREEE. BEEER.

7: the night ended with the huge disco ball coming down and a bubble machine going off

8: drinking in public. enough said.

if you've only been to halloween in the castro, trust me, the pink party is wayyyyyy better. it's definitely something everyone in SF should experience once!

This is the first time in the since 2000 that I have attended the SF parade. They seem to have really toned it down. More politics were involved, probably due to the recent Prop. 8 issues. I think it's a good thing that they are trying to look a little more respectful so that people who don't understand aren't put off when they see it on tv.

Woo hoo!  Pride.  Yup, it's a party weekend and you'll see all kinds of people wearing all varieties of costumes.  You're in the gayest friggin' city in the US.  Public drinking is a go but bring your own liquor, shoot, $11 for a margarita?  F that.  Civic Center is completely packed with people.  If you are to go sometime, leave the kids and the pets at home, really.  It's no place for strollers or four-legged friends.  If you do want to bring them, I'd say do it on Saturday when it's far less crowded.  Recommendations?  Make the latin stage the main stage.  Or start attracting better talent for the main stage so that people actually watch it over the latin stage on Sunday.

I honestly enjoy the goodness of humanities and coming together to party your brains out.

The first SF Pride I attended was in 2004 when a dozen of my gay friends from Seattle flew down to break me in. And all I could say was "WTF!!! THIS IS PRIDE? Because i'm having the time of my life!!"

- pink party
- dyke march
- pride parade
- civic center festival

It opened my eyes, heart, and mind in so many ways and although I am not "QPC" i like to participate, be festive, and just celebrate for the hell of it. Best partying I've ever done in my entire partying life!

Steppin' out on Saturday
Freak show time, the world's gone gay
Fishnets, high hair, high heels too
Drag queens, trannies, faggots, Jews
House music make the thug girls crunk
Ms. Charo make the gay boys drunk
Speculatin' 'bout who's uncut
Skin on skin make the sane go slut
Bridge and tunnel sportin' wack style
More tits out than Girls Gone Wild
End up laid up with bedroom eyes
One hot fetish = gay pride.

Though I love Pride's intentions and all, I try my best to avoid its mass crowd of people.  Yet somehow, I still manage to get caught up in a crowd of crazies every year, or in the case of this year, one middle aged, self-proclaimed pansexual hippie who gave me what he calls his "hippie business card" on BART.  Just in case I ever wanted to go over to his place to talk about tree-sitters, drink lemon tea, or tickle the ivories.

He also me told me to love freely and to not let the sidewalk come up and slap me in the face.

Amen to that.

For the second year in a row, my friends and I showed our true colors at Pride by strutting our stuff as a walking, talking, cheesing, PLEASING rainbow! I hope you saw us there... if not, check out my pics, they suffice.

I PRAYED for sun. Even when we left our house in the Inner Richmond it seemed dreary and hopeless. But the miracle of miracles happened, and Mr. Sunshine came out just in time for the better part of the whole festival! I couldn't have been happier.

Truly though, the real miracle of miracles is this year itself. The LGBT community has made such strides and I'm SO prideful to be the eensiest part of the celebration. Cheers, queers!

Hot, hot, hot!!

Not just the scantily clad men, but my shoulders. They are seriously burnt. We hoped for sun for this outdoor festival and thats what we got.

Hour after hour I soaked in the feather boas, rhinestones, leather, bbq deliciousness and music. Not only did I eat good food, but there were free photo booths and strong drinks. It felt like everyone was excited to be out and love was in the air!

(My favorite highlight: I randomly saw the great Margaret Cho about 3 feet away with her entourage. She was walking under a sun umbrella and looking hot!!)

I have gone for several years now, although not several years in a row. Just this year I also attended Pink Saturday for the very first time. Aside from all the expected and unexpected views and events, the crowds, the rude folk, the lack of mobile device reception for emails, text messages, and especially voice calls, among other trivialities, Pride can have a meaningful and positive impact in one's life, if one indeed accepts it in that vein (besides taking it for a commercial venture in which people can just party). Additionally, it's not just about the fetishy sections--this broad swath of different aspects of queer life and beyond just demonstrates the folly of labeling queer folks' lives as "a lifestyle." For example, I found it a fun way to meet and connect with people, even if just for that weekend and not for the next decade of my life (albeit perhaps some I may stay friends with). I found it a way to remember those who have sacrificed so much that my life is much better than it might have been, namely such folks as those involved forty years ago at Stonewall, among other historical events. I have also been reminded about the future, about the fight for civil rights for all. Grace Jones has a song called "Pride" in which the opener lyrics say, "pride, a lot of good it does alone at night." So yes, although this song isn't in the same context as pride festivals the world over, it does give me pause to remind me that pride for me isn't about whether I have a man in my life or that I'm hot to someone or not. It's about my connection to others around me and those far beyond me, in the past, in the present, and for times yet to come.

The 4th SF Gay Pride Festival I attended and it was again worth checking out!

My friends and I were there the whole day and I still don't think we checked out everything. True, there wasn't really any sun today but still the energy was so upbeat on every block! I loved dancing on the streets, checking out cute gay guys who I wish were straight, the vibrant colors, the music, the photobooths, etc! This was a great event that gathered many different people together. I loved the diversity! I also saw Kat Deluna and Lady GaGa perform!! Woohooo!

The longer this thing goes on the worse it gets - this year (2008) it felt like they forgot the "gay" part as they tried to include every micro-minority and special interest group that had enough money to buy their way into the event.

Since they've re-branded "Gay Freedom Day" as "Gay Pride" its been more and more difficult to make the case that being gay is something that one IS and not something that one DOES... This should be the one day of the year when all the "straight-acting" posers engage in full-frontal faggotry and sadly it just ain't 'appnen...

The LGBT Festival is so fun and SO important! I love attending this great event every year. In addition to supporting everyone's right to be proud of their sexuality, there are also fun music and costumes, great food, yummy drinks, and freebies! Many of the freebies come in the form of colorful, flavorful condoms and lubes which are actually a fairly valuable freebie if you think about it... you also will likely come across mini Starbucks samples, mini sunscreens, pens, and more. The food is typical fair food and the drinks include the usual beer boothes, margaritas, and cosmos. You can get $1 off your drinks if you donate to the cause and don a sticker too! There are various different areas to check out including Fairlyland and other festive spots. And you can dress up and bring your dog! Enjoy!!!

This was the most fun I've ever had at a bloc party! Damn, it was so much fun!

Food and drinks way too fuckin over priced, but I paid thinking that I'm supporting the cause. LGBT community is another minority group that struggles with discrimination everywhere, so as another minority I will always support gay right.

BUT I'm not too cool with those middle aged or older dudes that come out with their ding-ling hanging outside right in front of your face. OR fat proud women having their fat boobies with pierced nipples out. Please people, no matter who you are you need to be classy!

But it was really really fun! Parade was eh, okay.

today we salute, real men of genius
~~real men of genius~~
Today we salute you...Mr. Naked Pruney Pride Parade Goer
~~Mr. Naked Pruney Pride Parade Goer!~~
Wearing nothing but a boa and silver paint on your whang, you are expressing the true meaning of freedom... the freedom to make everyone close around you very very uncomfortable
~~Proud and free~~
Sure that sunburn is going to smart later, but who cares?  You're here to show the true meaning of diversity
~~I'm not leaving~~
Your complete oblivion to people staring and taking pictures of you isn't because you're high, it's because you're drunk, high, AND choosing to ignore these pesky social conventions ... like clothing
~~Cause I'm sexy~~
So crack open an ice cold Bud Light oh sporter of the silver snake, because while you're not even on a float, you raise the caliber of greatness that is Pride

What an experience!  I learned that even men with micro penises see no shame in walking around naked. Lord-he must have been the taker because there was not  nearly enough to give! This was my first Pride but definitely not my last! I'm already looking forward to next years festivities! There is nothing like walking past a blow up penis on the way to the port o potties with your mom to end the day proper! Only in San Francisco!

This years 2008 parade was so much better than '07.  Why because there was so much love in the air, due to all the weddings that had been going on.  I just hope and pray that they can stay legal.  I didn't get to go to the festival, but my friend said that it was way too crowded.  But I love the dykes on bikes, got my motors rushing.
